'I know the new Traffic guy is out. I haven't had the chance to meet him yet' I take another guzzle of Sprite and look around. 'Nice night though.'

((I know he's been putting in a lot of hours this week, so he probably won't post too much right now.))

'Ok, sounds good'

*I watch two cars go flying by.*

'I ain't going to waste my time'

*I say laughing*

'Yeah.. I'm not looking to burn my V6 out playing catchup.' I watch as the graveyard shift for Tec starts to pull in. 'I'll tell ya, I just don't get tired of this job. The rush of a chase, the feeling you get from pulling someone out of a burning car... It's just great.'

'Yeah, until the crazy guy throws up on your uniform and when you change you spend the rest of your shift out in the rain'

*I say laughing*

*I get into my patrol car out in the complex & start up, I open the MDT & login in*

"PC-3 Dispatch, Inservice Patrol"

I start out of the complex, & I think to my self, to get the night rolling I am going to go check speed....

I am driving down 1st Ave going west bound from boarder rd, as I approch Fahey st I see a glow of orange .... what is that I think to my self

*I pull up & place my car in park, I turn on my lightbar & get out, I key up the mic*

"PC-3 Dispatch, Priority traffic - I am at 1st Ave & Fahey St, dispatch FD to my location I have a garage on fire , it is attached to a house, I have a car in the driveway, I am checking for occupants & evacuating them now, Start me other units"

*I walk up to the house & start banging on the door, Yelling*

'Police department, there is a fire, Hello, Police Department there is a fire'

*I key up the portable mic*

"PC-3 dispatch garage is approx 50 percent involved, I am not getting a answer at the door, I am going to force entry, I do believe there is occupants inside I can see what I believe is a child inside sleeping in the living room"

*I kick in the door & get down low to the floor & start in, I get up to the couch by the stair case & find a small child approx 5 YOA Unconscouis, I pick her up & carry her out next to my patrol car & set her down*

"PC-3 Dispatch Confirmed occupants still inside I have a 5 YOF unconscouis & unresponsive I have placed her next to my patrol car send ems, I am still searching"

(You do know that all FD and most EMS units are at the Ship fire right? And that includes Phoxlind City Fire/EMS)

"PC-8 copies PC-3's traffic, show me enroute"

*I get in my unit and turn my lights*

'You want to come Morrigan?'

*I turn my siren on as I take off toward McIntyre's location*

*I re-enter the residence & find a 16 YOM coming down the stairs yelling for his sister, I grab him & escort him out of the residence*

'Is it just you & your sister inside"

male: "Yes"

*I key up my mic*

"PC-3 dispatch residence cleared, both subjects are awake & breathing & alert at this time"

*I walk back up to the door, & close it to the residence, & walk back to my patrol car*

"8, when on scene can you confirm the situation?"

(Three major no nos here. If services are tied up, avoid requesting them. This also isn't a spot to start house fires. And police are also not supposed to enter burning structures, let alone with no backup.)

'Alright I'll call them now boss, but should I release her or charge her?'

*I say as I pick up the phone at the front desk and start dialing the number for DCS*

'we'll keep her here until social services shows up. should have an on call person.'

*I turn my siren off as I pull up on scene*

"PC-8 is on scene"

*I grab my high-vis vest and walk over to Nathan*

'What's going on?'

'Alright thanks, I'll go let them know'

*I walk away from the Lt. and walk up to the mother, and I take off the handcuffs*

'Mam I am going to have to ask you to stay here until social services arrives'
*she stays quiet so I call DCS*

'Department of childrens services'
'Hi this is Officer Booth with the ERT PD, I was wondering if you could have a case worker come to our station'
'Sure, what do you have there?'
'I have a kid that ran away, I found him running and crying and I had to find the mom I found her and I believe she is endangering her sons welfare since she is on drugs or drinking alcohol and the fact that she didn't even know her son was gone'
'Alright, I have someone heading there now and should be there within a few minutes'
'Alright thats quick thanks'
*I hang up, a few moments later the case worker arrives*

'Hi you must be from DCS?'
'Yes I am, you must be Officer Booth'
'I am, did your dispatcher alert you to what is going on here?'
'Yes they did'
'Alright here they are, I am going to go back out on the streets are you all set here?'
'Yes I am thank you'
'Thank you for being so quick'
*I walk out and back to my car*

"Booth is available back on patrol any calls pending COPA?"

*I drive out of the station and patrol*

"Stand by Booth, we might have something, Corporal Lafferty will report. What's your unit number Booth?"

(The spare units, ie no officers assigned are number 810, 811, 812)

"10-4 COPA I am unit 810"

*I keep patrolling until further advised*

"Understood, head to the area of Fahey, code 1, you may be needed there"

((Sorry, 12 hour shift today))
'May as well.'
"T1 responding to Fahey with PC-8."

I arrive on scene.

*Nathan informs me everyone is clear of the Garage*

"PC-8 to COPA: Be advised everyone is clear of the Garage, its not a large fire and not threating any other structures, it seems its burning itself out right now. If PFD could spare one engine it shouldn't take long to knock it down"

*I walk over to my unit and turn my my flashing LED's off and turn on my steady burn LED's*

'Hey, Morrigan. I swear its like we just saw each other a few minutes ago'

"10-4 COPA heading to Fahey code 1"

*I start picking up a little speed and I head over to Fahey*

I chuckle. 'Dave, I think you just like saying that.'

I look around. 'So this is... extremely bad timing. What would you like us to do?'

"Booth to PC-8 do you need me or should I disregard?"

*I continue to drive there code 1 awaiting a response*

"PC-8 to 810: It's up to you. You can continue or disregard at your own leisure."

*I look over at Morrigan*

'Yeah, it just seems to keep happening. Lets just keep everyone back until fire arrives.'

*I see the family by Nathan's car*

'Steve, if you want i'll watch the crowd if you want to see what exactly happened.'

"10-4 PC-8 I'll disregard for now but if you need me, i'll respond"

*I slow down and look out for anything happening.

"8, at your discretion, go in with an extinguisher, no fire units are available for a small fire right now"

"10-4 COPA, we'll take care of it."

*I look over at Steve*

'Well, if you want to grab an exttinguisher and come with me. Nathan, if you could find out what happened.'

*I open my trunk and grab an extinguisher and await Steve*

(I don't think that would save the garage. .)

"Pc-6 clear, social services contacted."

*I turn onto union st. when I notice a white nissan altima plate # 432 - XQH go through a stop sign at a high rate of speed and I also notice that they have their headlights off, so I think they're obviously up to no good*

"Booth to COPA I am going about 70mph trying to catch up to a white nissan altima plate number 432-XQH they're going about 90 with no headlights, driving erratically and driving through stop signs"

*I place my lights and sirens on code 3*

"Booth to COPA update, we're taking a left onto chinese district going about 80mph"

I pull the extinguisher from my trunk. 'Locked and loaded.' I grin as I pull the pin.

"6 backing, I'm right behind you booth."

'Alright lets go then'

*I begin to walk toward the garage*

'I guess, lets see if we can enter from the side door'

*I crouch down next to the door and open it a bit and look inside*

'Oh, well lets see if we can get this knocked out'

*I say pointing out a few spots that is still burning.*

"I see you Boss, COPA could you run the plate for me? 432-XQH. It may be stolen"

*I see the vehicle start to slow down like they're getting ready to bail*

"Lieutenant I think they're getting ready to bail here so be ready, All other units suspects are about to bail at Chinese District at Long's Lane"

"how many times occupied? If they bail, I'm sending the dog after the driver."

"Looks like 2, if they run I'll take the passenger so I don't get bit by your dog"

I squeeze and clear the base of the flame, working my way upward until it's doused fully. 'One down.'

*I rip off the tab and pull the pin and aim at the base of the flame*

'Alright, this side is clear'

*I see one more area of flames*

'If you want to get that one we will be done.'

"PC-8 to COPA: Update, most flames taken care of. Heavy smoke in the area. Might, let City know in case they get a lot of 911 calls about it."

"Understood, marked down. If these extinguishers are from your units, please send all units back to the complex to have them replaced, we can't have you guys without them in your cars."

"10-4 COPA"

*I look around and don't notice any other fire except for the one Steve is going to take care of*

'Well, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.'

*I pull up next to the suspect car as they pull over and the driver bails*

"Booth to COPA driver bailed Libor is your dog ready? We need to secure the vehicle and the suspects"

*I jump out of my car. pull my gun out of my holster and aim it at the passenger*

'Show me your hands, And stay in the vehicle reach for something and i'll shoot'

I finish clearing the last flame.

'So what's left to be done?' I look around, but it seems everything is under control.

'I should restock my unit after this.'

(fun part. Overhaul time )

'Yeah, I think my car needs to be serviced anyway.'

"PC-8 to COPA: Be advised fire is out. We'll do a quick check then seal off the garage. More than likely it will need to be tore down."

*I begin to check in a couple areas to make sure the fire is out.*

'You see anything?'

'Looks fine over here. I don't see the ignition source.'
I pull a couple pieces of fallen lumber up. 'It looks like there's a gas can here. Maybe that's what started it.'

"Understood, Lafferty, want to get some witness statements for your report while the other officers are closing down the scene."

"10-4 COPA"

*I walk over to a group of people*

'Did any of you see what happened?'

*One guy walks up*

'I did, my name is Marcus Hershey, I live across the street'

'Ok, Mr. Hershey, what did you see?'

'Well I heard a loud pop then I heard a couple screams and then the garage was on fire. Before I could react that officer pulled up.'

*I write this down*

'Anybody else?'

*A lady walks up*

'My name is Alice Winters, you can call me Mrs. Winters.'

'Yes ma'am. What did you see.'

'I heard the same thing that Hershey heard, except I saw the kids running in to the house from the garage'

'Ok, thank you'

*I write down her statement*

*I walk over to the kids*

'Are y'all doing ok?'

'Yeah, were fine'

'Good, so want to tell me what happened?'

'We were playing in the garage.'

'Let me guess, y'all were playing with a bottle rocket weren't you? And, when it went off it ignited and yall ran into the house?'

*Their both silent for a few moments*

'You can tell me the truth, we just want to make sure someone else didn't start the fire and try to harm y'all.'

'Yes sir.'

'Ok, where are your parents?'

'I called them they are on the way home.'

'Ok, good deal.'

*I walk over to Steve*

'Looks like they were playing with a bottle rocket and it went off and started the fire. Their parents are also on the way home.'

*I open my driver door and grab my EAT and start to type up my report and grab my radio off my belt*

"PC-8 to COPA: Be advised the parents are on their way home. Fireworks are believed to be the starter, no foul play expected. Once i'm clear out here, am I clear to take my car to TEC and have it serviced?"

"Confirmed 8, they'll be waiting with another extinguisher there,you'll be out of service no more than 5 minutes"

"T1 is headed to restock."

I shut my lights off and head back to base. Once I've got my charged extinguisher, I walk into the break room and collapse on the couch. (Just relaxing, not a medical thing.)

"10-4 COPA"

*I finish typing my report and notice the parents pulling up. I walk over and show them where their kids are and walk back to my car*

"PC-8 is back in service"

'Nathan if would write up a narrative of what happened when you arrived and what the kids told you'

*I get back in my car and stop at the TEC shop and they get me all fixed up*

*I drive out to Truitt and I notice a car parked off the main road on a small dirt road with all doors and both the hood and trunk wide open*

'Well, this is strange'

*I pull up behind the car and turn on my steady burn LED's and turn on my spot light and aim it at the car*

"PC-8 to COPA: Show me out with a black four door Ford Taurus LPN 145 FLA off of Truitt Interpass, car has all doors, hood and trunk wide open. No occupants from the looks of it. I will advise further."

*I put on my hat as I pull my mag light out of the charger and begin to walk up to the car*

*I look in the trunk as I walk by and as I get near the back seat I smell the strong scent of gasoline and don't see anyone. I then notice some weapons on the floor board.*

*I then start to think that maybe I came upon a drug runners car that they were stripping*

"PC-8 to COPA: Be advised no occupants in the vicinity, I have recovered some weapons, can you send a PPD K-9 drug dog out here? I believe that this vehicle might be used for running drugs."

*I then get my digital camera out of my trunk and begin to take pictures of the inside and outside of the car*

"Understood, I'll see if our dog is available first. If not expect PPD in 20"

"COPA to S1, can you get to 8's location for a drug search?"

"8 to COPA: Last I heard him and 810 were in a pursuit."

*I say as I continue to take pictures of the car*
