'I'm off then, later kids.' I say to my fellow officers as I climb back in our Magnum and turn off all of the lights, and start her up again. "CE-1 leaving scene." I take off the parking brake and shift the car into gear, then speed off down the road, heading for the PPD station in Southern Phoxlind. As I pull up in the parking lot, and park badly, just putting the car into park and putting the brake, as per usual, I climb carefully out of the Magnum and run into the station and up to the desk officer.
'Hello there.' I say, brushing a bit of dust off of my jacket.
'ERT? Here for that report?' He asks, seeing my shoulder patch
'You got it.' I reply, he chuckles and hands over a folder.
'Compliments of the Sergeant.' He tells me, still chuckling.
'Cheers, and tell him I said hi.' I say, quickly heading back to the Magnum, chucking the folder on the dashboard and then starting to leave the station as I see two PPD cars with ALPR equipment preparing to leave the station, one of the drivers I recognise from another incident, so I climb out and head over.
'Damien Stevens?' I ask as the guy climbs out of his car after seeing me climb out of his car.
'Charlie Jackson? Yep, it's you, what you doing in this neck of the woods?' I smile and shake his hand as he offers it.'
'On a job, grabbing some reports, you going on a stolen car hunt?' He nods and surveys the area around the station.
'Haven for crime, so yeah. You able to back us up, our third unit got bogged down with an MVA on the Interpass.' I nod and check my watch.
'We'll come out for a while, then we've got to check on our probie unit.' I say, he nods and we head back to our cars.
"CE-1 assisting with PPD ALPR operations." I pull the Magnum onto the street as the second car out of the three, the only without an ALPR camera but able to back them up still, we start driving down the road, and pull onto Chinese District, at Long's Lane, the first car's radio beeps and I hear his message over the radio.
"TW220 on a traffic stop on potential stolen vehicle." I see him turn on his director bar, then the blues and reds as he pulls the blue Ford Fiesta over. I turn on my rear reds and director bar and pull in front of the Fiesta, grabbing my traffic vest as I put on the brake, and climb out.
'Sir, I think you're driving a stolen vehicle,' I hear Damien say to the driver as the last car in our convoy passes us. "TW110 staying on ALPR checks." Comes over the radio as I stay the passenger side of the car, and see that there's a man driving, and a woman sitting on the passenger seat.
'Officer, I think you're kidding me. Is this some kind of prank show.' I hear him jokingly ask Damien, who rolls his eyes and keeps talking.
'Can I see your licence and registration please.' He asks, regaining composure. The driver mumbles and gets them out, giving them to Damien, who looks them over, and heads back to his car, probably to radio for info on them. I see his partner, her nametag reading Officer Keeper come over and stand next to me.
'The car's been stopped a few times before, definitely reported stolen.' She tells me, probably having told Damien before.
'Alright, I'm worried about this guy though, looks angry, and he keeps looking for gaps in traffic.' I reply, seeing the driver look again.
'I think I recognise him, I made a stop when I was just a cadet on a guy looking just like him.' I look at her and she smiles slightly as Damien climbs out, and we walk back to him.
'He shouldn't be driving, he was suspended a year ago, and he had more points than most other people on the lists.' I nod and Damien walks back to the car and hands the driver the plate and registration, and then leans on the roof. 'Ok sir, I'm afraid I need you to stop out of the car.' He suddenly rolled up the window and revved the engine.
'Lower the window!' I heard Keeper shout, and I ran round the car, trying and failing to open the passenger door, he revved the engine again, and pulled into the flow of traffic.
"CE-1, car fleeing a traffic stop. Requesting back-up." I say into my radio, on the ERT frequency, and I hear the PPD saying it over their radio as well. I run to the Magnum and start it back up, turning on the blue and red front lights and headlight flash, and starting to follow the fiesta.
