Arson Attempt

((All it takes is 1 on, and 1 to watch the controls, lol))
"I'll intubate right here, set your ekg and he'll be ready for transport, over." (I was holding off on intubating because he was still adequate with clear lung sounds, just the narrowing pulse pressures, but no csf out of the ears or blood.)
**We go ahead and set him down, I open up the intubation kit, pull out a macintosh, check the light, and intubate when i get a clear visual of the chords.**

"Alright, this will save you some time, no abdominal sounds, it's in the right spot."
**i place a tube tamer**
**I instruct van der water to assist galligano with interior attack on that room with the explosion**
"We'll be down to meet you in 2 minutes"

(I wanted to intubate for the fact that he can't protect his own airway, with out the gag reflex.)
"EKG is set up, just need a pt. to attach it to."
(feel free to godmod me for the rest of the night, I have work in the morning.)

(Anyways, it could have been done later as necessary. The OPA would manage the airway, because we don't need to BVM him. He was losing fluids from the laceration.)
**We get down to the team**
"Alright, go ahead and get him hooked up"

*i back out of the building. and meet up with hannahan*

* I hear the man down call, and request for ALS over the radio.
'Aww christ, not again.' * I grumble as a jump out of BLS-1, and head to the EDRC to get my gear.
"ED to Pumper 11, on my way. Advise if it's safe for us to enter, or you want us waiting outside, out."
* I reach the EDRC, and put on my helmet, put on a new pair of rubber gloves and grab my gear, trauma kit with drug bag, and head towards the warehouse.

'Alright, I'm gonna...find..the..fire.aaannnd, cut it open now. Found it. Alright back up Bruce.'
*I switch on the k12 feeling it move in my hands and hold it tight which feels kinda weird to me. 'Don't remember the last time I used this.' I put it up to full speed and place it onto the concrete wall which I start cutting making and hole the size of a good crawl space. About 2 yards up and 2 feet across. I the get it back down and start to manually break it down by trying to kick it open. As I put my back in to it, the slab comes down and lands in the fire. The smoke plumes out and I quickly back up.*
'Alright Bruce, you got it now. Go go.'
*I get behind Bruce and hold his line to help him move quicker.*

"This is Squad 1, all fires have been extinguished from the outside as far as I can see. Squad to COPA are we allowed to move into the building?"
*Me and myteam walk around the building just to make sure*

*I hook the pt. up to to our EKG, and run a 12 lead.*
'looks like Sinus Tachy'
"Hutchison to ED, I have the pt. out side the front door, Im not seeing any other injuries, however the belly is a little rigid on palpation, I'm thinking he may have something going on internally."
*I recheck vitals while waiting for ALS-1 and EDRC*
"ED, I have a new set of vitals for you, Pulse is 130, Resp. 12, mechanically, B/P 90/60, Pluse Ox 100%, Sinus Tachy on the monitor no ST elevation, Belly is rigid to palpation, bleeding appears to be under control at the gash site."
*I look at the Left AC and find a vien not covered by the pressure dressing. I sink a 14 ga. IV in to it, with a Liter of .9 NS,and Y-type Blood Tubing for his ride to the ED.*
"ED, be advised we now have bilateral IV access one 14 one 16."

"10-4 libor"

*I give a hand signal pointing in the direction libor indicated; I swing my weapon in the direction and see an outline of a body*

"We got someone!!"

*I start to move foward but realize he has a knife and I take a step back*

"He has a knife guys, Jackson see if you can get a better angle"

* I hear the radio message, and stop short.
"ED copies, stand by, I'm getting my ultrasound kit."
* I drop the gear, and sprint back to the EDRC and detach the portable ultrasound from the ECG, and sprint back, picking up the rest of my gear on the way. Panting and wheezing I reach the patient.
'I need to start working out.' * I manage to utter as I put down the gear. I feel the abdomen
'Hmm, right side feels more rigid.'
* I take the stethoscope from around my neck, and listen to the victims abdomen.
'Bowel sounds decreased...I think. Hard to tell with all this noise.' * I take the stethoscope off, and switch on the ultrasound.
'Can you get a second IV saline started please, so we don't have to muck about with that in case he crashes.' * I ask before applying the conductive gel.

(Garica had already started an IV, mine was the second)
*I check lung sounds again, as well as checking the head and neck, making certain not to disturb the tube.*
'Lungs are clear, treachea midline, and no JVD.'
*I reach over to the the blood set and flow it wide open, while keeping the other IV at a TKO, after I see 300ml drained from the bag, I dial it down to TKO.*
'300 ml in, I'll recheck vitals. New set of vitals are lungs clear, Resp. 12, Pulse 140, B/P 80/50, pulse ox. 100%.'
*I reach up to my IV set and set it wide open. As I look down my line, I notice something shining in the light of the fire from under the pressure dressing. I pick it up and notice the star of life.*
'Doc, got a medic alert braclet here.'
*I flip it over and read the other side off.*
'Hemophilla(sp?) and Insulin depenant Diabetic.'
*I grab the gulcometer out of the medic kit and get a finger stick.*
'Sugar is 120 mg/dL'

'Aww shit. We don't have time to hang around then, I don't have blood. I think he's got a lacerated liver. Replace the saline with the HAES bags in my kit, it replaces volume better, and we run him to the ambulance.'
* My heart is racing now. I quickly reach for my drug bag, and draw up 5 g of Amicar and injected it into the IV catheter to try and slow the bleeding. I wait until the IV bags are replaced, and help run the victim to the ambulance.

"EDRC to COPA, priority. Notify hospital that we are bringing in a patient with hemophilia and internal bleeding. Have them get ready at least 10 units of O negative and a trauma surgery team ready, he needs to go straight to theater."

*I switch out the bags and help race the patient the ambulance.*
'Bags are out'

'Thanks, bloody good work. Hop in, I'll need an extra hand if he codes en route.'
* I help load the patient in the ambulance, and jump in.
'Go go go Zack!' * I shout, and reach for the insulin in my kit. I draw up 3 units, which I inject subcutaneously.

'Copy.' I replied, quickly checking my options, we wanted him alive, and he was no immediate threat to life, so I moved to the side, behind a crate. 'Ok, baton him to the back of the leg, take him down, grab the knife and cuff him.' I muttered to myself. Move down this aisle, come round the back, got him. I placed my shotgun on the floor, It was unnecessary and would restrict mobility. I pulled my baton off my belt and started to head around the groups of crates. I could hear the officers and suspect facing off, and this wouldn't be pretty if it kicked off. I stopped at the end of a row of crates, peered round. There was no need to mess around here, whack him, grab the weapon and let TAC cuff him.

I stepped out of cover, and moved towards the man, slowly, baton raised, he could see me at any second, then I'd have to hope he'd stab me where I had protection. One metre away, I swung the baton forward, at the back of his right knee. He groaned and fell backwards, as he fell I wrenched the knife out of his hands, he slammed against the floor, groaning as he lay there, I moved away, still holding the knife, to allow Bridwell and Libor to get the man fully restrained. 'No time to mess about sirs, he's got a knife, I'd rather we have no more casualties tonight.'

*I hop in the back of ALS-1, with one hand on the medic kit and the other on my mic.*
"Hutchison to Hannahan, I'll be out of service for a few, assisting ALS 1 and ED with Trauma victim."
(His sugar was at 120 mg/dL btw, not to high.)
*I redo a head to toe assessment.*
I start talking to my self,'Heads clear, blown pupil but no signs of fracture, neck, no sign of treacheal deviation or JVD, chest, Lungs right side clear, left...nothing. CRAP, Doc, Im decompressing, no breath sounds on Left side of chest.'
*I go to the medic kit and grab a 10 ga neddle and stick it in the 5th intercostal space.*
'Ok, lungs reinflated...*I continue my assessment*
'Well theres the problem, I missed before hes got a flail segment of the 6th-9th ribs.'
*I take a large trauma dressing make it into a pad, and place it over the ribs, and wrap gauze around it to hold it in place. I continue my assessment.*
'Heart tones are good, belly's pretty distented, and is turning blue, pt. has a priapism, doc, pretty good chance of spinal injury, pelvis is intact, I find no PMS in any extremity, and I have a B/P by doppler of 50/p, carotid pulse of 60, and pulse ox is 100%.'

((Hutchison, I know real life you get messy calls, but for the love of god, it's a big enough call, we don't need to mess around with a hempophiliac diabetic victim with internal bleeding and a spinal injury.))

"Copy ERDC, report to Trauma with him when arriving"

(Got it, DC. Slow day and my partner is giving me way too many good ideas. I may try to get him on here though.)
*I retake vitals.*
'New set of vitals for you doc, Carotid pluse is up to 80, B/P is up to 70/50 and holding, Lungs are clear, belly's still distended.'

((You don't need to moderate it, I relish the challenge If I'm to get residency, I'll need some tough ones.))

* I breath a sigh of relief.
'So he's stable for now. Not much we can do about the spine until we get a CT. Well, we could give him steroids, but I'd rather leave that to the experts.'

* The ambulance stops at the entrance to the ER, and I help unload the patient.

*i move in with the line opening it up to full stream.i get right up to the wall and stick the nozzle through the hole.*

" Hannahan, im on the back side with botfish, were done now so im making my way back to the ladder, did you and bruce got to rehab?"

( I only ask because our policy is that whenever you ome out of the building you have to go to rehab for vitals)

"Copy, Hutchison. If They need the extra help with transport, tell me. Uhh not yet Tim.. If you could take this line for me, I can."
*I grab my line and slowly jog back to the vented hole with the smoke plumes. I back up and start sweeping the water into the room.*
"Ewan, tell me if i'm hitting you."

*i look down at my bottle. im in the danger zone on being empty*
'Hannahan i need to change my bottle ill be back'

*Watches Officer Jackson quickly and swiftly take down the suspect.
*Wonders how long the suspect thought he could hide here.

'Blanc, I'm not sure how long he's out for, get him over and get some cuffs on him, OK?' I asked Blanc, not waiting for a reply as I ran over to grab my shotgun from where I'd left it. "COPA, this is PC-2, we have one suspect in custody, requesting we get that scene lighting now, we need to check for any evidence, and the last guy in here. Over." I let go of my radio and wondered what to do with this knife. It was evidence now, so I decided to place it in one of the evidence bags I had, and clip it to my belt, then hand it over to a Forensics Investigator afterwards.

*Holsters his pistol, and grabs his cuffs and scurries over to the man, sliding the cuffs on the man and tightening them
*Pulls the man onto his feet and walks him over to where there is light.

'guys, remember there is still another possible suspect.'

*me and bridwell keep an eye out making sure no one comes out.*

'10-4, you want me to put this guy in a patrol car?'

"10-4 put him outside, lets continue the search when the lighting gets here, hold postions until it arrives"

*i come back and pick up my line, and spray through the vent hole. i slowly see the red disapear and in its place steam and smoke come rolling out. i move in closer sticking the nozzle trough the hole.*
'were making good progress Hannahan'
*i realize i cant see any more fire, then i shut my line down and run over to the ladder grab a sledge hammer and knock the wall in some more for a better visual, and see very little fire. i pick up my line and help hannahan mop it up*
'Hannahan do you think we should start bringing lights inside for the interior crews to see?'

*Begins walking towards his patrol car
*Once at his patrol car frisks the suspect for ID, or any contraband.
*Finds a lighter, wallet, and some keys.
*Opens the back door to his patrol car
'Slide in, watch your head.'
*Looks over the the items found on the man, again pops his trunk and grabs gloves and some plastic baggies.
*Puts his gloves on and Opens the baggy, sliding the lighter inside.
*Opens the wallet but finds no ID
"PC-1 to search, suspect might of disposed of his ID, but I cannot find it on him, also, would you like me to stay with him or return?"

((I already had an I.V in place as well as full vitals dude. Your performance in this call isn't great. he had narrowing pulse pressures, resp at 20, your good on the tachy, but there's a trauma dressing over the wound, so damn straight i already had my stuff in order.))

"PC-1, this is PC-2, advise you start talking to the man, try to find out some stuff, we'll add ID to the search." I depressed the radio transmit button and then turned to Bridwell and Libor. 'Sirs, I got some evidence that I'm gonna load in my patrol car, I'll be back ASAP, this stuff could be vital though.' I spoke quickly to the two senior officers, grabbing my equipment as I headed out of the warehouse. 'There's the other bag.' I muttered to myself, picking up the second piece of evidence off the bin as I walked past. About two hundred metres ahead, I could see my patrol car, lights still on and Blanc with his car nearby. I ran quicker, unlocking the vehicle as I approached, and then popping open the trunk as I got there. With two bags of evidence in the rear, I closed the trunk and then opened the driver's door up. "PC-2 here, dropped off evidence, returning to search team now." I depressed the radio again and climbed out of the car, grabbing some non lethal shotgun ammo before even starting to head back to the team.

*I put down my line next to bruce, lift off my mask and hold it in my hand feeling somewhat weak and hopeful that I'm finally resting for a bit. I keep walking toward BLS-1 and see his lights illuminating the place. I get there and sit down in the back with my SCBA still on. I put my head down and lift it back up and sigh a happy sigh.*
'Hey Doug. How you been?'

*i go back to the ladder and get two portable lights. while tim follows me in i go in and set them up 20 ft apart facing into the darkness which itmedieatly ligths up*
"Hannahan Lights are in place"

*I grab my radio while drinking some water and press the button.*
"Alright good. Pumper 11, you should be able to see more. Lights are in place. Ladder 1 to Bucello or Bridwell, do you guys need any light?"

**I drive through the gates of the Country Club; the security guard's booth is noticably empty. I pull into the parking lot with two ERT patrol cars behind me. Two other squad cars from the PPD and a pickup with yellow flashing lights from the Country Club security are in front of the clubhouse. A man is in handcuffs at the top of the stairs.**

PPD Officer: 'You missed out; we already subdued the suspect here. You won't believe what we found.'

**The officer produces a small kerosene canister, a .45 revolver and a pocketknife.**

Me: 'Who discovered him?'
PPD Officer: 'Well, the security guard saw someone trying to get over the fence. He hit the silent alarm for us to come and respond and chased after the intruder in his pickup. He didn't turn the lights on until the suspect saw him; - which was a smart move. He tried to hide out by the 3rd green, but we showed up at about where the security guard was, and we cornered him.'
Me: 'Do you want us to take him?'
PPD Officer: 'If he's involved with the arson - and it looks like he is - you'll want to hold on to him.'

**I take the suspect and put him in the back of Officer Stabler's vehicle before getting in my own. Officer Stabler also took the evidence and signed the chain of evidence form. With everything in order, I begin the drive back to the scene.**

"COPA, PPD transfered one into our custody. He is believed to be involved. At this time, it looks like the suspects will have tried to split up, and at least one more is at large."

*I sit in ALS-1 waiting for Kaizer.*
"Hutchison to Hannahan, Pt. dropped off at the ER, waiting for the ED to come back out so we can get back on scene."

"Thanks Hannahan, room's almost extinguished, hey truck, can we go ahead and get some pike's in here to expose?"

" got it LT."

* I go back to the ladder and grab two pike poles and return to the inside of the warehose*
* I hand over a pike pole to garcia*
" Here ya go"

*i head in with tim and take the other pike pole*
'where would you like us Garcia'

"10-4 Pumper 11, I'll be out shortly. Uhhh... I got ya Hutchison. Report to me when you arrive. I want you to help with ovehaul. Have Zack check on you while your there too."

"Go ahead and try to hit out the roof in the office, it looks like this used to be an office of some sort, so go ahead and try to move it, same with the walls."

* I start taking down ceiling panels with the pole and find the office is filled with a bunch of crap*

*i help tim pull the ceiling down. and throw the trash out window*
