Arson Attempt

'I've got a Shotgun, unsure about the Sergeant. You got a flashlight?' I asked, as I again checked my shotgun was loaded and ready.

*I briskly walk over to the ladder mic and press the button again.*
'Alright Bruce, tell me what you got...'
*I wait for Bruce's sitrep and plan what to do next. I look around me and notice the smoke is not as dark as it was when we started.*
'Probably burnin' wood in there now.' I think to myself.

"Yea, got it. If the sarge doesnt have it I can run back and grab mine, or he can grab his."
*Waits for Sargent Libor to arrive.

*I walk around the corner of the warehouse and hear breathing. I walk over to a pile of rubble.*
'Hello, this is ERT, can you hear me?!'
'Yeah, owww...help...'
*I run over to the victim.*
"Burke, this is Davis. I've located the missing worker. He's trapped under some debris in the back. I bet I could try to pull it away with Raven."

'Makes no difference to me if you have them or not. Jackson, do you want to do a walk around of the building and check for forced entry and see how many different doors there are?'

((PC 2 and search theam should wait for TAC, meaning Bridwell, to take point in any entry, as TAC has the most extensive training. Also, what happened about the man down in the warehouse? Haven't heard anything about anyone being found yet...))

'On it sir. I'll radio back with results.' I started walking down the side of the building, flashlight in left hand, lighting up a few yards ahead of me, the area thick with smoke from the burning buildings, nothing near me, maybe emergency exits, didn't see anything, I studied the rest of the alleyway, it was long, no doors or windows, quite bland, no signs of damage, no graffiti, nothing out of the ordinary. 'Check the floor.' I muttered to myself, looking for anything the arsonists may have discarded, cans of fuel, matches, even weapons, could be anything. I moved the flashlight's beam forward, black hat on the floor, beanie, just as the alley was coming to an end.

"PC-2 to PC-6, at the rear entrance, there's a piece of discarded clothing, beanie hat at the end of the alley here. The rear entrance has been opened, unknown who by though, I can see something flickering inside, maybe a power button, or it could be something else." I stopped and crouched by the doorway, it looked like it was a switch or emergency exit indicator. But it could be worse. "Requesting available units assist." I clicked off the radio, hoping that perhaps it was just the guards who had checked the area earlier.

I see the vic and run to help. 'Okay, we should be able to lift some of this debris of him and evac him, I'll inform EMS'

"Fire entry team to EMS Command, 1 vic, trapped under debris, unjuries unknown, evacuating know"

*I see as Florian runs to help the patient. I then radio to Bruce.*
'Bruce, do you see Squad 1 from up there?' Idepress the button in nervousness.
*I walk back in front of the ladder and make sure all RIT equipment is present. I then look forward hoping I see or hear from Squad 1 again.*
"Command to Hutchison, what's your location?"
*I depress the PTT button and wait for a reply...any reply.*

* I hear the radio message coming in from the Squad.
"EDRC to Squad, copy that, making our way there now. Can you remove the debrief without moving the victim, or can you get him out without risking aggravating possible injuries?"
* I grab the trauma kit from ALS-1, and fetch the drug bag from the EDRC. I start walking to the warehouse.
'Zack, do you know RSI? Rapid Sequence Induction/Intubation? If he's trapped under a pile of rubble, we're probably looking poly trauma, and might have to put him under general anesthesia.'

*I get my coffee from Ridgeback, and thank him. Dr. Kaizer arrives, and I greet him with a smile and a nod.*

'Hey Kaizer, all in a days work eh? Having fun in the field? No news as of now, but I've been over here with you EMS-guys since you left with ALS-1. There's some chatter on the radio now, let me see if I can...'

*The radio suddenly comes alive with police officers speaking about entry and finding various pieces of black clothing. I hold my coffee in my right hand while I use my left hand to push my earpiece further into my ear so I can hear what they say.*

'Yea...they are finding some... pieces of clothing, probably from the arsonists... I think they are getting ready to search another storage building now... Our new officers are all over the place.'

*I take a sip of my coffee while listening. The coffee is hot and a bit too strong, just like the coffee brought to the field always is. I've aquired a taste for it, so it goes down no problem!*

"We'll evac him out of the warehouse first, it's to dangerous for you to enter, we'll be carefull removing debris"

I continue removing debris

"10-4 PC-2, standby and watch the door the door. TAC, we need one of you over here on the double. DC, can we get a layout of the warehouse?"

"yeah i can see there lights through the smoke."

"Alright, what's the status of the fire? Down here it looks better."
*I wait for a response and wait on the RIT mat.*

((He's outside the warehouse Jansen ))
* I realize I've forgotten to get my helmet, and run back to the EDRC to get it, then jog towards the warehouse again.

"10-4 headed your way"

*I start to run*

"Don't go into the room yet, if it is a device there may be a trip somewhere. Libor can you guy secure the area around the building?"

"PC-2, 10-4. I'll move up and secure the other corner." I clicked off the radio and started walking down the side of the building, flashlight up, checking for movement. 'Looks like nothing, but you can never be sure.' I mumbled to myself. "Nothing further down this end, final side to check, COPA, are there any other units in the area near the other warehouses?" I mumbled into my radio, as I started round the corner, running my flashlight up and down the walls, checking for anything suspicious.

"10-4, we'll be ready, Mathews."

*Matthews climbs into BLS-1* (Sorry for godmodding that part, just makes it easier and quicker)

'Hello Tim.'

*I get out a chart and write his name*

'Alright I'll try to get you back out there pretty quick, so I'm just going to take your blood pressure, pulse, check out your breathing and all that.'

*I roll up his sleeve, and wrap the blood pressure cuff around his arm*

'It's showing 100/65. That's a little low, but normal after exercise or hard work which is what you're doing out there. So when I'm done here I'll just have you rest for a couple minutes.'

*I take off the BP cuff, and listen and watch his breathing*

'Breathing is fine.'

*I pick up his arm, and find his pulse*

'130' I say to myself

*I get out a chart, and fill in the vitals. I get a water bottle and hand it to him.*

'Alright, like I said, BP is a little low, but totally normal after exercise or hard work like you've been doing. So, just stay and rest in here for a little bit, drink some water to stay hydrated, and you can go back out when you're ready.'

(( I think Davis meant that the pile was outside, since he walked around the corner. If not let me know Davis, and I'll edit out this part.))

* I reach the rubble pile outside the warehouse, and see Davis and Jansen removing the debris. I look up at the warehouse wall next to us and cringe, I'd hate to end up under a rubble pile as well.

'Afternoon boys.' I say, and put down my gear. I'm just about to join in the debris removal when I realize I can't, I don't know anything about how to free a person from a pile of rubble like that without it collapsing further. So I put on a new pair of rubber gloves, and go through possible injury scenarios in my head. The train of though is interrupted when I remember where we're standing, and I look up at the wall again.

"EDRC to Ladder, does your guy up high have a visual on my location? We're around the back. Let us know if there are any signs of structural instability on our end, I'd hate to get a wall on my head, even if I'm wearing a helmet. Out."

"Uh, anything you need me to do?"

"PC-2 has nothing to report in this alley, nothing discarded, nothing suspicious, returning to the rear entrance to await TAC. Over." I turned back, and started walking towards the corner again, still searching, in case I missed something, you could never be sure. But there wasn't anything, and as I reached the corner I saw Libor waiting by the door for the TAC Officer. 'Sir,' I shouted 'All clear that side.' "PC-2 to 1, unsure, watch the front entrance, possible breach to the rear."

"negative Kaizer all i can see up here is smoke."
*i move the nozzles around to different spots.*
"ladder 1 to interior let me know if im spraying you guys"
*i shut down the 2 1/2 and the flame start to die down i open up the fog on the nozzle and sray on the roof*

*As I'm spraying I pick up my radio*
"This is Botfish, Davis need any help with the debries?"

"Layout is unavailable, well one of any use. It's just a big open space.. As for shelving, that's not stored in data since it changes often, sorry can't be of much help"

I put on my helmet and run in with the oxygen . "Yeah I know RSI Don't think it'll be of any use though" I say to Kaizer after seeing the victim knowing he is most likely ok. "I don't think he'll need to be transported but it's your call Kaizer"

*I cut the hole for the squad and head back to he tarp.*
"Hutchison to Command, building is vented for the Squad, standing by for RIT, also availible for ALS assist."

"If anyone needs a shot gun, mine's in the trunk."

*Walks over to Halls and begins to talk with them*
'Man there really getting at it out there, our newbies really hit the ground running. Have you seen anymore activity that would make you suspicious?'

*While walking around, trips on a crack and falls flat on his face
*Embarrased, he stands back up.
*Brushes the small pieces of rock off his face and palms.

((Zack, they haven't dug him out yet. Plus he is buried under a pile of rubble which likely fell from hight.))

'Good job Hutchison.'
"Tim, when you get back, I'm going to need to know how stable that building was." I say through my radio to Tim.
"Ladder one to COPA, RIT standby has been continued."
"Ladder 1 to Squad 1, what's it like in there? Tell me a possible sitrep when you get one."
*I move around the Ladder, check my SCBA bottle nervously then calm down when I see that I still have a good amount left. 'This corner should be vented...we could run a line near here and spray inside....but the fire is out over here. Maybe S1 could vent the rear.. fire should still be back there.' I think to myself.*
'Ok' I say out loud.
"Ladder one to Squad 1, is there a possibility that you could vent the rear of the building? You should have a k12 on that truck."

((The debris is outside.))
'Yes, Botfish, we're gonna need your help back here.'
*I grab on to a huge beam and pull it away with Jansen.*

"Copy i'm on my way"
'Guys i'm gonna go help Davis'
*I leave everybody behind and go on into the darkness by myself.
I then walk outside and see them outside trying to pull bebries I grab ahold and start pullin'*

* I exit BLS 1 and head back to the scene*

" Hannahan, the roof was stable enough to start venting, I believe we should start asap so the squad can see better"

"Copy L-1, I think they are busy with extrication right now, we've got a vic trapped"

" Yea Hannahan, withyour permission, I think bruce, myself, and Hutchinson should go up with some k 12's and start venting. the squad is in there and it must be hard to see"

*I hear the radio chatter and can make out Matthews voice*
"It would be alot easier to extract this vic with ventilation"

*I hear Davis on the radio and run over to help with the victim*
"He's pinned under there good. Once we get him out, he'll pass out."

(godmod me for the night (7:30pm here) I'll be gone to a partay )

((Lucky bastard, I can't hit the town today because I'm driving someone to the airport at 6am tomorrow -_- ))
'Once we get him out I could use a couple of you Squad EMTs to cut his clothes off and bandage.'

'I'll volunteer to help! Although i'll need close supervision'

"10-4 PC-2. PC-6 to TAC, area secured, two know entrances, one is sealed shut, one forced entry. PC-1, standby until further notice until tac arrives.

"10-4 PC-6"

"Pc-6 to Pc-1, can you run grab the squads and grab your shotgun and mine real quick"

*I say as I see Bridwell run up*

'Sir, when are we moving in.' I asked Libor, hearing him on the radio to Blanc. I was nervous, I didn't like waiting, especially since we needed TAC to move in. The situation was either bad, or worse now, the Fire units were trying to extract a casualty near the burning warehouse, and we were going into near pitch black conditions, with Shotguns, Pistols and our standard body armour. Definitely a baptism of fire.

*I shake Linda's hand with my free hand before finishing my coffee and putting the styrofoam cup down on the trunk lid of my cruiser.*

'Nah, nothing iffy that I've seen. Just keeping an eye on the EMS guys for safety, really... Yea the newbies, holy cow are they working! Haha, I don't remember being that hardworking in my training days! I like what I've seen so far.'

*I say, with a grin on my face. I turn towards the fire again, watching the silhouette of the ladder on the truck against the blaze. Jokingly, I add:*

'Do you think they'll have this fire out by the end of the week or what?*

'Alright guys, sounds good. Cory, Tim, Bruce, get some K12's up there but make sure it's closer to the middle of the warehouse. Don't want any debris falling on Squad 1 K. Bruce, come down and get a k12 up there. I'll be on the ladder. Everyone, make sure you check your SCBA's and if you feel weird, let me know.'
*I pick up my radio preparing to radio to COPA. I press the button, wiat a secaond, breathe a bit and start talking.*
"Ladder 1 to COPA, RIT will be temporarily stopped. We're preparing to ventilate the roof now. Squad 1 be advised, Ladder 1 will be venting the roof. Be aware of of falling debris."
'Alright, remember guys, in the middle of near the front of the building. Don't go to the right side since Squad 1 is over there. K lets go.'
*I check my SCBA tank and see its full then wait for everyone to go onto the roof so I can get on the ladder.*
