*Jaime takes the BP and Pulse. I write BP 120/80, and take down the rest of the vitals.*

'Judy, do you have any leg back, neck, or head pains?'

'Well, I hit my head, but it doesn't hurt, and my back is fine.'

'Alright, do you know the address of this building?'

'Ohh, it's Chevy Road I know. 2780?'

'Alright, what day is it?'

'Sunday.' (It was sunday when the call went out)

'What's the date?'

'The 17th of April.'

'Alright, well we are going to splint your leg to immobilize it, and we're going to take you to the ERT hospital.' Jaime can you go get the stretcher and splint?'

*Jaime walks out with the jumpbag to retrieve said items.*

'Do you take any medication?'

'I take vitamins every morning, and I took some advil for a tooth pain.'

;Alright, do you have any allergies.'

'None that I know of.'

*Jaime walks back in*

'Alright well we'll splint your leg and get going.'

*We splint the leg, then pick her up and place her on the stretcher. We roll her out, Jaime opens the back doors, I hold the stretcher up, she pulls up the wheels, and I push it in, locking into position. Jaime climbs in and sits in the seat next to the patient, I hand her the chart.*

'You all set?'

'Yeah, let's go.'

*I shut the doors, and walk to the cab, I step in, put in the keys, shut off the anti-theft and pull out of the lot.*

"EMS-1, transporting one adult female to ERT Hospital."

* We arrive at the hospital and I step out with the patient on the stretcher. *

" Central, Medic 1 at ETC. "

* Doug comes around and we roll the patient into the ER. *

' Hey Doug I will go ahead and clean up around the ambo. '

"Central to any available ambulance. 1000 Keller Street, cross of avnue 8 and 9. Apartment 3108, for the burn victim. No fire, caller advised victim burned hand on the hot stovetop."

*I climb into the unit and pull out of the complex, heading for the call.*

"Medic Five responding.*

*I pull up on-scene and hop out. I grab the jump kit out of the side cabinet and also snag some saline. I then throw them all onto the stretcher and bring it inside. I head into the building and onto the elevator. I arrive at the apartment and knock.*

"EMS."

"Come in!" replies a voice that sounds a bit off, as if the person is trying to conceal something.

*I walk into the apartment to find an obese man sitting in a recliner in the living room, cradling his left hand, which is red and angry from the burn.*

"Hi there, I'm Angus, an EMT with the ERT."

"Hello there Angus, you can call me Fred."

*I walk over to the patient and begin examining his hand. I determine that the burns are only first-degree, and he does not need transport. I rinse the burns with the saline and then apply some gauze.*

"Okay sir, now you have a choice. You can choose to come with me to the hospital, or you can stay here."

"What do you think I should do?"

"I don't think you need to go to the hospital, as it's only a minor burn."

"Then I'll stay."

"Okay, sir."

*I pull out the Refused Transport form and have him fill it out, then depart after cleaning up my gear. I head back down to the unit and put everything back in place, then start back to ERT.*

"M5 to COPA, I'm available en route to quarters."

"Medic unit, respond code 2 to 1002 First Avenue, we've got an anaphlactic attack on a boy. Wasp sting, epi-pen administered"

"EMS-1 to Central we can take that."

*Kelly and I stand up, tell our waitress to put our food in a to go box for us to pick up later, and walk out to the ambulance.*

*I step in the driver side, put the key in, and take it off idle, and pull out to the exit. I stop before entering the road, press the Master button to turn on the lights, and flick the Manual button on the siren a few times as I pull out into traffic*

*I pull on first ave, and look for 1002. I spot it, and shut off the siren. I idle the ambulance, then take put they keys in my pocket, and carefully open my door into traffic.*

'Alright Kelly, like I explained earlier, you do the chart, if you forget what to ask, basically just look at the chart, and just ask for the info that's in the blank boxes.'

*I step out, and slam my door shut. I walk to the other side, and grab the jumpbag, close the cabinet door, then walk with Kelly up to the front door and knock. Waiting on the porch, I see a frantic woman come from the side of the house.*

'Back here!' She yells

*Kelly and I walk down the stairs and follow her into the back yard. There is a boy sitting in a beach chair crying. I walk up to him and kneel down in front of him.*

'Hey! I'm Doug, what's wrong? Got stung by a bee?'

'*crying* Uh, huh.'

'Alright, well I'm....."

*I look at Kelly, then look back*

'I'm going to have my partner Kelly here take a look at you.'

*I drop the jumpbag. I motion for Kelly to come down and look at him, and I take the chart out of her hand and begin filling in teh name, address, and complaint.*

'Umm, alright.

*I give doug the chart and and go to the kid. I start getting the blood pressure cuff and stethscope

'Hey, Kyle. I'm Kelly I'm giong to listen to your heart and check you out, k?'

*I take the blood pressure*

'Its 120 over 80.'

*I take a pulse*

His pulse is 70.'

*I listen to his breathing.*

'Kyle, is it hard to breath?'

KYLE: "A little bit'

'Ok, I'm going to give you oxygen.' (Just let me know if im doing something wrong)

*I get a mask, and connect it to the tank, and turn it on, then put the mask on the child*

(Nah, you're doing pretty good so far)

'Alright Kelly, let's load him up and bring him to the ambulance so I can do some paramedic stuff.'

'Kyle, can you walk? Just out to our ambulance, it's parked right out by the driveway.'

'Yeah, I think I can.'

'Alright, we'll help you. Kelly, I'll take the jumpbag and chart, you just take the oxygen and bring him out.'

*I pack up and pick up the jumpbag, sliding the strap on my shoulder, and take the chart. I walk out to the ambulance, open he two back doors, and step in. I drop the jumpbag on the floor, and put the chart on the counter. I reach over to a cabinet and get the LifePak and a drug box, I put the LifePak on the bench, and put the drug box on the floor and open it.*

'Ok no problem.'

*I pick up the oxygen tank and lead the kid to the ambulance. II help the kid into the ambulance, lay him on the stretcher, and put the oxygen tank down, then sit down and work on the chart*

'Kyle, do you have any allergies to medicine that you know of?

Kyle: 'I don't have any allergies.'

'Ok, have you had allergic reactions before? How bad was it?'

Kyle: 'Yeah a couple years ago. It felt like my throat closed up, I couldn't breath.'

'Alright, how long ago were you stung, and it is a wasp sting, right?'

Kyle: Yeah, a wasp. And it was maybe 15 years ago, but I used an epipen, so I think I'll be fine.'

'Are you feeling weak at all?"

Kyle: 'It was kind of hard to stand, and I felt, like, really heavy walking over to the ambulance.'

'Well, we are going to bring you to the hospital, alright? We need to make sure you will be fine. I'm going to stick an IV into your arm ok? This will just help replace electrolytes in your body.'

Kyle 'Like getting a shot.'

*I hang the bag on the ceiling of the ambulance, and start the boy on an IV.*

'I'm also going to give you some benadryl. Ever heard of the over the counter benadryl? The kind you get from the pharmacy? It's like that, but I'm going to inject it, like a shot.'

*I prepare the benadryl shot and look to Kelly.*

'Kelly, just watch out for the mother, she should be coming here. After we talk to her we can get going to the hospital.'

*Kelly goes out and talks with the mother, as I give the shot of Benadryl. Kelly comes back in*

'Kelly, I'm good to go back here. If you're not done with the chart, hand it to me and I'll finish it.'

Kelly 'Okay, the mom is going to follow us to the hospital. I told her she can't go through red lights.'

'Alright good.'

*I remove the keys from my belt loop and hand them to Kelly.*

'Go for it.'

'She takes the keys and goes up front, and we begin moving.'

((Sorry Kelly, just wanted to get through this since it's been over a week))

*I take the keys and walk up front. I put them in, turn off the idle, and drive away

"EMS-1 is in route to the hospital with one child"

*I pull onto the road and turn on the siren, and make sure the mother isn't following us through the stop signs and red lights.

" Central, Medic 2 Correction. We are not Medic 5 rather we are medic 2. "

* I continue to drive downt he interstate, getting off on Southside lane and down South Trulit Road. *

* I make a right turn and head up Hellington st until I come up to South Twin road where we are met with a woman on a bicycle waving her arms frantically. I pull over to see whats going on. *

' Is there a problem miss?

Lady: Oh that guy over there he was walking and a person on a skateboard just came up to him, hit him with his board and then took off the guy fell and hasent been able to get up since please help him.

Me: Ok we got it just relax.

" Central Medic 2 We are on scene of a man apparently attacked with a skateboard can you dispatch PD please. "

* I pull over and hit the lights *

' Don u good to go? '

'Yea, what do you need me to get?'

* I get out of the truck and head over to the back, I open the doors and pull out the stretcher with the ALS kit on it and start walking over to the patient with Don. I kneel down next to him, He is blood red all over his face and is in tears. *

' hello im Jamie with the ERT EMS Other than the obvious are you hurt anywhere else.

* He shakes his head no. *

' Where did this person hit you, there is too much blood i cant tell right off hand. '

* He points to the very top of his head *

' Don can you please clean that off for me and get a set of vitals. '

' OK sir we are you having any trouble breathing? any pain over here, or here, or here '

* He shakes his head no *

' Ok then im gonna sit you up over against this pole just try to relax ok the worst is over. '

* I look at the top of his head which is now seeping blood at a decent rate. *

' Don Im gonna go ahead and start an IV just continue with the cleaning and those vitals. '

'Ok.'
*I get out a cloth and do my best to gently clean the wound.

* As Don begins to take the vitals I look up to see a PEMS and PPD unit pulling up. The medic comes over to me and kneels down next to me. *

' Hello u 2 ok?

me: yea we're good he got nailed in the head by a skateboard.

Medic: Yea we know him he's a frequent flyer.

me: ahhh so do u guys wanna take over then?

medic: sure we got him but thx for taking care of him until now.

me: No problem see u guys. Don lets take off from here.

" Central Medic 2 is Clear and available. "

"I need a unit at First Ave, none of the PEMS can take it, and traffic is horrid, you'll be a while trying to get there. Run code 3, we've got a request for ALS at 256, for a downed male, a nurse is on scene, and wants him transported to the hospital"

*Driving back towards the complex, I hear the dispatch, and pick up the mic*

"EMS-1 can take that."

*I replace the mic, then turn into a parking lot and make a U-turn. I push the red master button to turn on the lights, and pull back onto he road*


*I take the Trulit Interpass to 5th ave, then turn onto Boader road where the traffic begins.*

*I turn the siren to help and hit the electric horn a few times as I pull into the traffic. I turn it back to wail, hitting the manual button a few tiems (changing it to yelp while it's being pressed) For some variation, and turning the siren off occasionally when there's nowhere for people to move to keep from creating an accident*

*As I approach the North Twin road intersection, it is clear, and we have the green. Turning the siren and wail, then yelp i go through the intersection at a normal driving speed, when I person the the right lane decide they want to go left in front of me. As they swerve their car into my lane I'm forced to slam on the brakes, and pull the air horn, blasting it at them until they move. He makes the smart decision to go back to the right lane and make a right turn*

'Dumbass.'

*I shut off the air horn, then turn the siren back to wail as I go through the intersection*

*We finally make it up to first avenue, as I look at buildings and houses for numbers, I glance at the clock that a bank has on in front of their building.*

'Jesus. A 2 minutes drive took 10 minutes with that traffic.'

*I find 252, 254, and finally 256 I stop the ambulance in front.*

"EMS-1's out, 2-5-6 first."

*I idle the ambulance, take the keys, and grab the chart as I step out.*

'You got the jumpbag Kelly?'

*I take my EKG, and walk into the building, where right in the front lobby, somebody is laying on the ground with somebody (the nurse) kneeling by him*

*Walking in with Kelly, I hear the dispatch for the boat fire.*

'I guess that explains where the Phoxlind ambulances are...'

*I go to the nurse, and nod to her*

'Doug and Kelly McGuire, ERT-EMS'

'Hi, I think this is heat related, he's very warm, but not sweaty. I've been trying to give him some water'

'Alright'

*I kneel down by the man and feel his skin, it's hot and not sweaty.*

'Hey, man. How you doing? Can you here me?'

MAN: "Yea...Yeah. I can"

'Alright, what's your name?'

MAN: 'Bill?'

'Bill what?'

MAN: 'Hmmm, uhm.. I'm sorry. I don't know.'

'Alright'

*I turn to Kelly*

'Get the stretcher, and when you do turn up the A/C in the back please?'

*I pull the jumpbag towards me, open it up, get out the O2 tank and a mask. As I get it set up, I continue to ask questions*

'You know where you are?'

MAN: 'No'

'You know what happened?'

MAN 'I don't know, I'm just here, and i'm really hot and its getting hard to breath'

*I start the oxygen, lat the bag inflate, then put the mask on the man*

'Alright this should help, just try to breath normally.'

*I take the jumpbag

'Ya I got it'

*I follow Doug in, put down the jumpbag, and take the chart from Doug knowing he'l lbe doing most of the treatment.

*I write down what I can on the chart when Doug asks me to get the stretcher and turn up the AC.

'Yea, be right back'

*I put the chart down and walk outside to the ambulance. I open the back doors and step in. I walk over to the panel, turn the AC high and turn down the temperature, then step out and pull the stretcher out

*I roll the stretcher back in, and lower it to the ground.

'Thanks'

*After Kelly walks out to get the stretcher, I begin to take vitals*

*Kelly comes back with the stretcher*

'Alright, the ambulance will be cool so let's just continue in there'

*I turn back towards the man*

'Alright sir, we're going to put you in the ambulance, it'll be cooler in there, ok? Now do you have any head neck or back pains? Did ou fall or anything?

'I kind of have a headache, but.....my neck or back doesn't hurt at all.'

'Alright, great. Me and my partner here are going to help up, and we'll sit you down on the stretcher, then you'll just lay down, and we'll strap you in'

*I grab an arm getting ready to help him up, Kelly does the same*

'Alright, 1..2..3....'

*We lift him up and lay him on the stretcher

*I buckle him in, then we lift the stretcher

'1, 2, 3'

*We lift it up, I take the chart and jumpbag, and we roll him outside, and roll the stretcher into the ambulance. I drop the bag and put the chart on a seat next to the stretcher.

((Let's try to wrap this up since we're starting to go on almost a week here lol)

*We roll the stretcher into the cool interior of the ambulance*

'Kelly, get some vitals please?'

*Shut the rear doors, and set down my stuff. I start him on an IV of Ringers. I then attach the leads and and start the EKG. I attach the PulseOX*

*While Kelly is getting vitals, I get a few ice packs out of one of the cabinets, and have them by my side in case we end up needing them to help cool him down*

*I get the stethoscope and blood pressure cuff out of yhe jumpbag

*I wrap the bllood pressure cuff around the patient's arm, and take the blood pressure then right it on the chart

*I take his pulse and other vitals and write them down on the chart, then fill out anything else that can be filled out right now on the chart.

'Alright'

'Ok cool. Should be good back here now.'

*I take the keys off of my belt loop and throw them to Kelly*

'We're good to go, just be careful with the traffic.'

*I catch the keys, then give Doug the Chart

'See ya at the hospital'

*I get hop out of the back, walk up to the drivers seat, step in, and pick up the radio

"EMS-1 is transporting 1 to ERT"

*I pul away from the scene, turn on the siren, and take it kinda slow, but still fast through the traffic

*While driving down the road towards the fast food joint, I see a kid trip and fall on the stairs of a porch and land on his knees and begin crying.
((Guess I can god mod my partner since he appears to be inactive))
*I look over.
'Wana Be a Hero?'
*I chuckle and turn on the rear lights on the ambulance. I then step out and walk over to the kid on the sidewalk.
'It Hurt'
*The kid snuffles before answering.
'Y-Yea.'
'Want me to help?'
*The kid nods.
'Ok then, you're gona have to let me see your cuts.'
*He takes his hands off them and I see some cuts and a little blood. I look at the kid.
'Eh, It'll be better in no time, stay here.'
*I walk back to the ambulance and grab some neosporin and a couple band-aids and grab my radio.
"M-2 Show us Busy"
*I grab a wet cloth and then place the neosporin on the cuts and place the bat man band aids on his knees.
'Better?'
*The kid nods again, I pat the kid on the back.
'Be a little more careful.'

"Do we have a unit that can respond to the Airport for a medical pickup? We've got an emergency landing for a woman entering labor, believed complications."

" COPA.....Pump-11. If No medic uniuts are available then We can clear the fire and take on the airport call with PEMS BLS units. "

"M-2 Enroute to Child Birth, requesting an additional unit to head towards the scene as well."
*I begin picking up speed heading towards the scene overtaking vehicles that decide to stop in front of a ambulance. I approach an intersection and I see I have a red. I stay there for a moment switch to my priority, and hope nothing happens and go through it. I then switch back to wail and begin thinking about the child, and all the possible things that can happen. I after another 15 or so minutes of driving kill the siren and pull in front of the airport. I then put the ambulance in high idle then unbuckle and go around into the rear compartment of the ambulance and get a backboard, and set it on the stretcher, along with O2, my jumpbag, and several clean towels. I then grab my radio.
"M-2 On scene."
*I then open the back 2 doors.

* As Casey pulls us onto Faith Road the Sirens are turned on and we start picking up speed towards the Airport. I roll down my window and wipe some sweat from my forehead as we start weaving in and out of traffic. *

' hmm I see what Lidner meant when people dont even slow up in trulit, thats a bummer for them lol. '

" Pump-11 to Medic 2 We are around 7 Minutes out. Any word on when the plane is landing and will they be taxing to the gates or just stopping on a side taxi-way? BREAK Pump-11 to ERT Units. We are 7-9 Minutes out are there any other units closer who can take on the Assist for Medic 2, If not we will continue to roll. "

* i see my crew is starting to become a little weary and in need of a liitle break. *

' Guys look, I know your tired, your hurt...Well the hurt is mostly for me. After this Hopefully we'll get a nice long break but lets just do this call. Jack this call is mainly for you and me but guys we're gonna need a little help on this one, just be ready with anything we need. Lidner will transport with either myself or Anders in the back with the mom and newborn. '

*I follow behind P-11 code 3.*

"M-5 to M-2, let me know if I'm not needed, I can cancel at any time."

" Pump-11 to Medic 5 you can go ahead and cxl, your a single person and somebody has to ride in the back with the newborn and mother. "

*I shut off the lights and sirens and head back towards the Complex.*

' Casey ur an EMT, if you want some Experience, then by all means come on in and play when we arrive. '

* The Engine rounds the corner onto Trulit Interpass and we pick up additional speed. I see Medic-5 begin to disappear into the background as we speed up faster. *

' Damn i wish he had a 2nd person on that rig, it would be perfect. '

* My phone rings and I notice its Illyanna wondering when im coming home. I make the Oh S--t I forgot face and Txt back that we got another call and I will be home when i can. *

' crap I think im in trouble lolololol. '

*I jog towards where the woman is supposed to be and find her sitting in a seat. I lower the stretcher and set down the towels
"M-2 to P-11, We're in the main terminal, near uh"
*I pause and look around for a gate number. I then see 5 and then turn my attention back to my radio.
"near gate 5."
*I look up at the woman hoping nothing major happens before the FD gets here. I then open my jump bag and wash my hands and arms with hand sanitizer. I then put on gloves, and set out all the equipment I need, and prepare some 02. And look up at the mother who seems to be panicing. I then hold her hand and gently tell her that its going to be ok, I look around at about 10 or so people just standing around. I trying not scare the mother say in a low voice.
'Keep it movin'!'

" Pump-11 Copies Medic 2 We are 2 Minutes out. "

' Casey pull up to the Main terminal I guess the plane already landed. '

* The engine makes a Left turn off the interpass and into the Airport parking Lot. We drive around to the terminal area, I see Medic 2 ahead about 1000 feet in front of us stopped, I point it out to Casey who nods his head and pulls us up behind the Ambulance. *

" COPA.....Pump-11 is on Scene. "

* I take off my headset, hang it up, open my door and step out. I walk to the back of the Engine and grab an ALS bag and Bio-phone. *

' Casey can you grab a bottle of 02 please, Nick grab the drug box and lets head inside. '

*I turn my attention back to the patient, who still, is only showing early signs of labor.

* We start walking through the terminal looking for the gates, I see the sign saying gates 1-20 to the right. *

' this way guys over here. '

* We start walking through the gate boarding area until finally we reach the gate 5. it isnt hard to spot where the problem is since there is a crowd of at least 20+ people gathered around tight near the victim and Lidner. *

" COPA....Pump-11, can we get a PPD unit dispatched to this location please for crowd control. "

' Ok People back up please, Fire Department let us through. '

*I look over my shoulder and see a group of FFs coming through the line. I look back at the woman and then see the FFs make it through the crowd. I look up at them.
'One of you wana take over?'

' No Don i think u got it lol J/K We got it from here but stick close. '

* I kneel down and look at the patient she is a Mid 20's Caucasian woman. *

' Hello Ms. im LT John Floan with the ERT FD What is your name?. '

' Marie. '

* Her breathing increases and she begins to swaet profusly. *

' Ok Marie im gonna have a person go and sit behind you and he is gonna prop your back up, uhh Don do you wanna handle that please, just have her lean up against you. '

* I keep my voice calm and relaxing. *

' Nick can you please grab a couple of towels from the ALS bag please. Marie how far apart are the contractions? '

' I dont know i guess 2 minutes or so i dont know '

* She screams out in pain. *

*I grin.
'Alrighty.'
*I go behind the woman and prop her up.

* I see the Airport Police running over to us nd they immediatly start to disperse the crowd. I look over at Marie who is really sweating like crazy now. Thankfully she is wearing a dress so I open the bottom of the dress and see that she is crowning already. My eyes get Enormous and I look back up at her *

' Casey, uhh guys I need a blanket over her and myself NOW, I also need a blanket ready in about 2 or 3 minutes. John, Open the ALS bag and grab me a Suction kit, or an Eye Dropper if there isnt a suction kit available, I also need a couple towels and at best some room tempature saline water NOTHING COLD. also Nick do me a favor and switch places with Lidner at her head I need him over here. '

* I see Nick switch with Don who comes over to me and kneels down next to the patient. *

' Don she's having the baby now, there isnt any time to transport her. Get me an IV of Ringers ready please. '

' Hey nick lay her down on her back please '

*I pull up and run in behind the rest of the guys carring my ALS bag. I follow through the crowd of people and take up secondary medic. I turn to the lady.

'Okay Marie if you caould answer some questions for me that would be great. Is this you first Child?

'No but my first natural birth'

'Okay, when was it suppose to be due?'

'Not for another month, I thought I would be fine fly...'

*Marie screems out in pain and I hear Floan ask for ringers. I prep an IV as Casey gets the blanket.

'Okay Floan the IV is ready. We need to get the steatcher ready so we can get going as soon as they are stable enough.'

* I look over at Jack who has finally made his way to the Scene. *

' Wow Driving like an old girl huh buddy LOLOL. NM its good to have u here. '

* I make Look back at the Mother and see the baby is trying to make its way out, I put a couple fingers at the base of the womans Vagina and watch as the baby's head begins to pop out. *

' Good Job Marie the baby is coming out the head is half way out, give me a good push. '

* She pushes hard and the head moves farther and farther out, I run my fingers around the outside of her Vagina and assist as the baby's head eventually makes its way out. *

' Good Girl Marie the head is out. One more push should do it. '

* Marie pushes hard and the rest of the Baby comes out fast. I look and see that the cord is wrapped around the baby's stomach, I unwrap it and se that the baby looks physically normal. *

' Suction please. '
