"Basic 1 is enroute to 75 Doyle Lane"

"Can we get any further info on the call other than vomiting?"

*I say as I start the truck and begin to pull out of the parking lot.*

"S1C to COPA, I copy that SEV-1 is enroute to that medical and unavailable."

"Sev-1 on scene will advise of condition heading inside"
*I hop out and grab the jump bag and small oxygen tank.*

"Basic 1 copies SEV-1 were still enroute code 1"

*I say as I turn out of the complex*

EDIT: (Disregard what was here before I'm back on my computer now redoing)

*After turning on Doyle lane I see flashing lights up ahead*

'Gee, I wonder which house it is'

*I say laughing*

"Basic 1 is on scene"

*I say as I shut off the headlights and make sure the park lights are on*

*I then go to the rear and grab the cot and push it to the front door*

*As I walk in the front door I see Moon, and walk over to him*

'What do we have here?'

"Received 1, you're on scene."

*As I approach the house I see a woman coming out to greet me.*

Woman: Thank you it's my son he's sick

'Okay I'm a medic with ERT:FD the ambulance is on it's way can you take me to your son'

Woman: ' Yeah follow me'

*I follow the woman into the kitchen*

'Hi son how are you doing today'

Teen: 'Not so well'

'Okay but you can breath fine right'

Teen: 'Yeah'

'Okay let me get your vitals and we'll go from there. Mam can you get a cool wet wash cloth to place on his forehead'

*I pull out the monitor hook up the pulse ox and bp cuff.*

Pulse: 70bpm
Ox: 97%
BP: 100/65

'Okay'
* I grab my mic.*

"Sev-1 to COPA we have pulse 70bpm oxy 97% BP 100/65. Please advise further I'd like to start an I.V. of ringers but can we still transport him BLS?"

"Standby one."

*I look in the operations binder to check if he can be transported BLS with the IV

'Okay can you lay down on the couch here I need you to lay on your side and I'm going to give you oxygen through your nose here is a bag if you need to....well you get it.'

Teen: 'Yeah'

*I reach into oxy pack and grab the NC and and it to him*

'You got that'

Teen: 'Yeah'

*I reach down and start an oxygen flow*

'Oxygen should be flowing'

Teen: 'Yeah I can feel it'

'Okay good'

'Okay mam I need to ask you a couple questions about your son'

*I then wheel the cot back to the truck and climb in*

*I turn on the head lights and put the truck in drive*

"Basic 1 enroute to quaters"

*After the drive back to the hospital*

"Basic 1 is back in quaters"

"Sev-1 copys traffic starting an I.V."

'Okay buddie I'm going to start an I.V. in your arm here to give you some fluid should help you feel better.'

Teen: Okay

*I grab a 14 gauge catheter and a bag of ringers and put the Tkit on. I open up the pads and clean the crook of his elbow while looking for a good vein*

'Okay got one'

*I open up the catheter and being to slide it in at a slight angle until I get a flash then I level out and back the needle out putting pressure right about the injection site and I remove the Tkit.*

'Okay there we go now i'm just going to secure that

*I put a piece of tape over it. Then i connect the ringers bag and adjust the wheel lock*

'There we go'

'COPA, ALS-1 we are available for callout from the hospital. '

"10-4 ALS-1, the address is 75 Doyle. Teenage male with severe vomiting, SEV-1 is out with a Ringers IV started."

"COPA you got my best friend coming to visit can't wait"
*I smile and give a little chuckle*

*I look down at the monitor as the BP cuff tightens*

* I put the ambulance in gear and drive off towards Doyle.*

' ALS-1 to SEV-1, ETA 8 minutes Code 1 Advise if upgrade is necessary. '

* I get out and Zach grabs the stretcher and we roll it nto the residence.*

* I hear Moon call out from the back room and we start walking to the back leaving the stretcher at the door to the room, I see the patient and kneel down to talk to him gently knudging Moon out of the way with my hip. *

' You dont mind if I take a look do ya Moon lol'

* I begin to have a difficult time congtrolling my laughter but keep my composure knowing my surroundings. *

' Hello young man I understand you have some Vomiting issues huh. '

Teen: Yes it hasent stopped for a little while now.

Me: Well thats a bummer lets see if we cant make that better. You taking any kind of medications buddy.

Teen: No nothing at all.

Me: ok cool, well for now lets get u over to this stretcher, here we're gonna make it a little more comfortable for ya.

* Zach raises the headrest to a sitting position and the patient walks slowly over to it and sits down. *

Me: Now when you sit like that do you feel like vomiting, any headaches, Light Headedness?

Teen: No im ok like this.

Me: Good then lets get an updated set of vitals on u.

* I start to doa quick work-up on the patient *

' COPA ALS-1 We have 1 teenage male chief complaint of Vomiting, His Vitals are as follows

BP 116/74
Reps are 28 and strong, he is on 1 bag of ringers wide open and his skin is cool but color is coming back. '

'Nope as long as you don't need us were out of here he's yours now. No drugs were pushed just the ringers'

' Moon can you and your partners grab the bags and we are gonna wheel him out. Alright dude we are gonna take you down to the ambulance and get u to the hospital, shouldnt take too long. '

* Zach and I start taking him out the front door and down to the ambulance. we get him loaded into the back and I step into the back with him. but before the door Shuts i look out at the firemen bringing me our bags. *

' Good job in there guys thx for keeping him stable. COPA, ALS-1 be advised we are transporting 1 to ERT Hospital Code 1 ETA 12 minutes. '

* the doors shut and Zach jumps in the front seat and starts the truck to drive away.*

'Man mitch isn't it fun dealing with ems lets get back to the station and watch some tv'
*I throw our bags backn in the ALS compartment and hope in the drivers seat.*

"Haha yea."

I hop in the SEV and position the EAT so I can write up a report.

Units: SEV-1 and ALS 1
Treatment: Oxygen give aswell as and IV inserted. Handed control over to ALS 1 and patient transported.

No major concerns.

(just for future reference, seldom will the fire trucks ever respond to calls in this topic anymore. Just to keep it from getting too busy. Fire department calls will be made a large threads since usually it'll have more people. No harm no foul for this one though)

You guys work together, so if one is home, both are, if you get a call here when you're both home, whoever posts first can be the one to godmod you guys going to the station in your POVs. Don't skip out on calls anymore please.)

"If anyone is available to pickup a patient from PFD care at the convention centre, please respond code 2. Patient is in BLS state right now, broken arms, possibly neck injury, no pain reported though, most likely shock. No PEMS or PFD transports are available for the next 20 minutes minimum, any takers?"

15 yo Male, fall from 10 feet off of the staircase when hanging. No drugs in system, no allergies, patient is believed to be in shock.

*I grab my jacket and get into the drivers seat*

*After I start the truck I put it into drive and head out of the compound.

*At the entrance I reach down and flip the master switch for the lights and pick up the mic*

"Basic 1 copies update and is enroute"

*As were driving down the road I look over to my partner*

'I'm sure they have him immobilized already, so lets just grab the Cot and sam splints and we will go from there'

'Alright'

*As we approach a red light I slow down and watch a car completly oblivious to the fact that we are there go right through the intersection*

"The people in this town"

*I say as I step on the accelerator*

'Well here we are'

*I say as I pull into the convention center parking lot and come to a stop behind a PFD Engine*

"Basic 1 is onscene"

*I say as I step out of the truck*

*I grab some sam splints as my partner grabs the jump bag and the cot*

*We walk inside and I see a firefighter*

'Hey, where is the patient?'

'Here come with me'

*We follow the FD through double doors and see a flood of people hanging around*

'Ok, people we need to get through so please step back.'

*My first impression of the patient is he's already boarded*

'Ok, lets go ahead and get him splinted and in the back of the rig, then we will take care of the rest'

*I then splint the right arm as my partner splints the left arm*

'Alright you get the head i'll get the feet'

*We then grab the spineboard*

'No, I came with a friend, his mom called my mom and she will meet us at the hospital'

'I was on the stands and was leaning over to talk to a friend I saw on the ground level and slipped and fell'

*I then continue to get info for my PCR*

*I then switch the channel to EDC*

"Go ahead One"

"Good evening, this is Lafferty and Richardson on Basic 1. We are enroute Emergent, with a 15 y/o male c/c of fractured arms in reference to a fall from about 10 feet. Radius on left arm and Ulna on right arm were fractured both were splinted, patient was also immobilized to spine board and is now complaining of neck pain at a 8 out of 10. Vitals are: BP: 130/90 P:110 Resp: 24/regular. We have about a 5 minute ETA, do you have any further questions or orders?"

"Negative One see you when you arrive, EDC Out"

"Affirm, Basic One out"

*After another five minutes we back into EDC and walk in to deliver our patient.*

*After finishing our paper work, I advise dispatch*

"Basic 1 is back available, enroute quaters

*After pulling into the parking lot I hop out of the truck*

"Central to next available BLS Unit. Respond to Johnson Private School, number 20 Fifth Ave, cross of Boader Road, in the gym, for the Juvenile leg injury. Be advside, Basketball game is in progress, victim is in the hallway outside the gym, a custodian was advised to meet you at main door."

EAT:
20 Avenue '5', 16 y/o female, leg/foot injury. Meet custodial staff at main door.

"Basic 1 to dispatch: Be advised were tied up at the ER right now, if Basic 2 is unable to respond, we will have an additional 10 to 15 minutes before were able to respond"

" COPA, ALS-1 Is available to respond to the BLS run if necessary. "

* I put the Mic back and relax in my seat, Completly bored *

' Zach it has been forever since we have had a call hasent it. '

"ALS-1 appreciated, we'll note you as available, BLS-2 should be able to take this though"

*I roll up to the scene and get out, grabbing the jump kit and trauma kit. A custodian comes over to us.*

"She's inside." *The custodian turns and heads back inside, with Chet and I following. I kneel beside the patient, a sixteen year old female who's holding her leg and grimacing in pain.*

"Lass, I'm Angus O'Reilly, and this is my partner, Chet. We're EMTs with ERT EMS. Now, is anything bothering you besides your leg?"

"No."

"Okay, then, let me see your leg, please."

*She moves her hands to reveal her leg, which is severely swollen.*

"Looks like you might have broken it."

*I apply a splint.*

"Does anything else hurt?"

"No."

*I turn to Chet.*

"Chet, go get the stretcher while I take some vitals."

"Got it."

*Chet leaves to get the stretcher while I begin to take vitals.*

"Looks like your vitals are normal."

*Chet returns with the stretcher.*

"Lass, we're going to lift you onto the stretcher now, okay?"

"Okay."

*Chet and I lift the girl onto the stretcher.*

*Okay, let's go. We wheel her out to the truck. Chet climbs into the back with her while I walk around to the cab and get in the driver's seat.*

"BLS 2 Dispatch, en route to the ER, ETA about seven minutes."

*We leave.*

* I pick up my radio from my hip holster *

" COPA, ALS-1 be advised we are on scene with fire at Kingston Elementary School, will be on the Fire channel until further notice. "

* I put the radio back and start walking over to the Station chief. *

"Central to M-1. I need you to respond to 1070 Fourth Avenue. Apartment 3-Alpha, for the seizure."

M1-1070 Avenue '4', Apt. 3-A. Seizure. 17 y/o female, has epileptic history.

" M-1 copies responding from 2nd & Kellar"

* I flip the lights and siren on and pull out into traffic *

"Received M-1. Victim is still seizing at this time."

* I turn on to fourth Ave and shut the siren down. *

" Central, M-1 on Scene. "

* I pull the ambulance up to the scene and sut it down, Istep out of the drivers seat , grab the ALS bag with the O2 bottl and walk up to the entrance. *

* I push the button to be announced *

Voice: Hello.
ME: ERT-Paramedics.
Voice: yes please come up.

* The door unlocks and I walk up the stairs. *

* I walk in and see a somewhat chaotic scene with 5 individuals attempting to hold down a teenage female who is in full Grand Mal Seizure, I quickly run over and assist them. *

" Central, M-1 if possible can I have a second unit here for assistance? Single patient with Active Grand Mal seizure. Assessing further now. "

' Ok who is the closest relative here??. . . . Come on Somebody here please? '

* a man comes forward *

Man: I am her father.
Me: she has a history of Grand Mal seizures?
Man: No just epilepsy.
Me: Ok that can lead to a Grand Mal
Man: I dont know what that is.
Me: Ok no worries can yu help me turn her on her side please and DONT put anything in her mouth. The rest of you clear all this stuff around her now.

* I reach into the ALS bag and pull out a full bag of 5% dextrose. and a Vile of Diazepam. The people in the room help to clear the area of furniture but gather around again soclose that the patients feet end up kicking a couple of them. *

' Guys seriously back up, give her and Me some room to breathe please. '

" Central, M-1 Status on additional unit please. "

* I put her on the Pulse Ox test which reveals o2 sat of 96%, Vitals are all over the place, I insert an IV into her hand with the help of her father holding her hand and Push 5mg Diazepam, the seizure continues and he breathing becomes distressed. *

" Central M-1 I have a 17yo Female in the middle of a Grandmal Seizure, I have started an IV 5% Dextrose with 5mg Diazepam push No effect. I am unable to administer Lorazepan, her mouth is shut tight. her breathing has become distressed, patient is on her side. "
