Re: Patrol centre
"Copy, any word on tow trucks?" I asked, thinking about a new idea. (Is the road a separated two lane, or something else?) 'Hmm,' I muttered, best bet at the moment was probably getting the tow trucks in quickly, and trying to get lanes to either do a U-Turn, or take the shoulder. "COPA, any Phoxlind units able to block off their end?"

Re: Patrol centre
No Phoxlind units are available, they've got their own traffic mess to deal with on the other end of town. (It's a two lane road, will be upped in the spring to 4 lanes though)

Re: Patrol centre
"Copy, PC-1, if you're available, can you close the Phoxlind Entrance to the Interpass and divert them to South Trulit, over." I transmit, checking the road again, it's busy both ways, but in one direction, traffic was moving. 'Ok, I'm going to direct your lane onto the shoulder in small groups, drive down the shoulder at 10 miles an hour, and then pull back onto the road, 100 yards ahead of the accident.' I transmitted via the PA, and I again checked that it would be safe, no tow trucks would be there for a while.

"PC-2, copies, where possible, turn back the cars already on the road, may allow us to reverse lane direction and clear traffic a while." I transmit, hearing the sirens up ahead, I stop cars going into the shoulder, and wait, ready for the FD to speed past.

(Good stop.)
"PC-2, copy, keep that block up, and I'll get this section cleared up here, over." With the road now closed, it was easier for me to allow traffic onto the shoulder, as I knew no more cars would join the queues. Slowly but surely, I started clearing out the lanes, still waiting for the tows to arrive, and wishing we had four by fours, and could drag cars off the road.

Re: Patrol centre
"PC-2 is close to reopening Lane two." I clicked the radio button whilst directing traffic, the first of the tow trucks had arrived, and was already in front of the accident, being helped by TVFD to load on the first of the cars. Since the tow trucks were all probably going to arrive shortly, I decided to stop cars heading down the shoulder for a short while, and focus on getting lane 1 open.
'Hey, where's the rest of you guys?' I shouted over at the tow truck driver.
'Five minutes out, I know one's just arrived.' He replied, smiling and pointing at the second arriving truck, which was now pulling in front of the accident. With two of the cars in lane two, and the other four in lane one, we'd have lane two cleared very soon, and lane one would be cleared later, or sooner, if any of the cars were still drivable.
'Can any of your cars still drive?' I asked the gathered drivers, who now numbered four, and their assembled passengers.
'Mine can.' A young man said, he looked and sounded scared, but it was just the shock.
'Can you let me use your keys?' I requested, he nodded and handed them over, and I quickly pulled the damaged car onto the shoulder, about twenty yards ahead, turned on the hazard lights, and took out the keys, and called the driver over, and asked him to stand behind the safety barrier, for his safety.
"PC-2, PC-1 we'll be reopening road shortly, approximately twenty minutes."

Re: Patrol centre
"PC-2, we're reopening one lane now, and second lane will follow once we get three more cars cleared from the scene." I placed my radio back on it's clip, and finished replacing the traffic cones, so lane one would merge with lane two, and we'd send no-one else down the shoulder. As that finished, the first two tows moved away from the scene, and I started allowing traffic through
As I stood back, and watched the drivers impatiently waiting to join the line to get through, two more tow trucks arrived, their amber lights on the roof rotating and flashing, and their hazards going for full measure as they pulled in front of the accident via the shoulder. Most of the TVFD guys were now standing by their truck, but a few were there, helping load cars on the tow trucks.
'Hey Lieutenant?' I asked one of the TVFD men, watching his guys deal with the tow truck loading. He turned and looked at me, and then replied
'Yes?'
'Your guys cleared up this lane now?' I needed to know, any liquids would need to be dealt with before both lanes were re-opened. He nodded 'Alright, thanks.' I replied, walking over to my cruiser, to see the last of the urgent tow trucks arriving, then another was going to arrive slightly after to pick up the car we'd parked on the shoulder.
The last tow pulled in front of the accident, with only two cars left in that lane now, cars were slowing down, and I quickly removed the cones, put told them to stop in Lane 2.
"PC-2, PC-1, you can reopen road shortly." I let go of my radio, seeing only one tow truck left on the roadway, with three TVFD guys helping him to get it on quite urgently, so we could let traffic through.
'Alright, we're good!' The tow truck driver shouted, and he gave a thumbs up to the TVFD guys and me. I waved him off as all the last car was dragged from the scene, and TVFD's truck then pulled to the side of the road.
"PC-2, accident scene has been dealt with, trucks have moved all vehicles blocking the roadway, still one awaiting tow. Road can be reopened." I put the dash radio back as I climbed in the car, and pulled myself into my seat, and pulled up onto the shoulder. The cars took the hint and sped off, not entirely safely, but there were too many of them doing it to ticket them all.

Re: Patrol centre
As I see Kieren pass I see the last tow truck turning up in my rearview mirror, so decide to drive off for a coffee, or a cup of tea. "PC-2 is leaving accident scene, all sorted at that incident. Now heading on patrol in Trulit." I put the radio back in it's place, and turned the EAT towards me as I encountered a small pocket of traffic, and had to slow down. I shifted gear and then pulled around the slow car as I pushed the EAT away, and listened to local radio traffic.

"PC-2, negative there, I'll see if I can go code 1." I shifted the car into gear, and tried to accelerate again, only to be stopped behind two trucks who were blocking both lanes. I cursed, and then waited behind them, as they were probably laughing at all us drivers behind them, probably driving illegal trucks too, but I couldn't stop them, they were dangerous if they did anything.

Re: Patrol centre
I grabbed the keys off the hook to CE-1 and headed out to the car, spinning the keys on their key ring. As I walked out of the door, I clicked the open button and opened the tailgate of the Magnum, signs, traffic cones, road flares, as well as the spike strips, first aid bag that I always made sure was in cars and some other assorted equipment for road control. I climbed in the front of the car, and sat down in the driver's seat.
I looked all around, checked the EAT, dashboard radio mount, courtesy lights, second radio for the passenger in case of pursuits, siren and light controls, everything we really needed at the moment. Then I put the keys in the ignition, started up the engine, and flicked on all the emergency lights, before climbing back out, and doing a walk around to check over the lighting package, all good, decent range probably.
"Hey Linda, we heading out soon?" I asked over the radio, hoping the Corporal would hear me, and we'd start out on our first traffic patrol.

"Commerical Enforcement, please report to the Phoxlind docks, PPA is clearing about 30 trucks out, possible of some commericail violations there, they're all headed to the Interstate, so check out in between to see if we can't catch a few violators. We've got everything from small vans to double trailers coming thorugh, so keep your eyes sharp"

Re: Patrol centre
As Linda transmits the radio message I shifted the car into reverse and pull it out of the space. I then moved the column shift into drive, and head towards the exit of the compound, as we reach the gate, and the barrier was lifted up for us, I checked traffic both ways, and then pull right, heading towards Phoxlind and the interstate.
The Magnum was cruising down the interpass, doing quite well, better than I'd expected, but I was eagerly awaiting a chance to get it up to high speed, and check out the handling then, but I could wait for a while. We passed Phoxlind Road and the District roads, and I checked ahead, seeing the interstate, an easy turn, no traffic heading towards the docks. I flicked on the turn signal, and prepared to hit the Interstate.
'Alright, just pulling off the interstate now Linda, we'll be there shortly.

Re: Patrol centre
"CE-1 copies, if you're available, help out please SUP-2, it'll probably be easier to set up a checkpoint then." I put my mic back on the dash and then accelerated down the interstate, just below the legal limit, but cars around us started to slow down as they realised we were cops. I kept going, then near the end of the road, pulled off, and started to pull up near the docks.

Re: Patrol centre
"Traffic checkpoint, please be advised, can we have a rolling checkpoint, as to avoid the mass traffic delays that will be caused if we stop every single vehicle.. Just stop the suspicious looking ones, roll around the areas, they'll be going out of that yard for about 3 hours, so you should be able to find each one. There are only two vehicles not reported headed out of town, both headed to trulit, and they'll be going on the interpass, since the south road isn't legal for trucks their size"

Re: Patrol centre
"CE-1, copy that, we'll just watch them out, and grab the suspicious guys on the interstate." I put the car into neutral and leaned back, waiting for possibly the first catch, because someone forgot to check their tyres, or just fix things that need to be fixed.

Re: Patrol centre
-I see a container truck running EB on tulit interpass and notice the truck seems a little fishy.-
*I turn around and head after the truck, I get behind it and see it has no rear plate, so I wait a second. I then grab the mic and flip on the lights.*
"SUP2, Traffic on a container truck with blue kenworth tractor on EB Trulit interpass prior to Fort Basio Road."
*I put my mic back, I then move over some so the trucker can see my lights behind him, and I grab my PA.*
On the PA: "Trucker pull off to the shoulder and stop for me"
*I put PA mic back and pull over behind the truck and get out and walk up to his cab.*
"Hello sir, I a Sergeant Ledger with the ERT Traffic Division. Do you know why I am stopping you?"
Driver: "No sir."
"I stopped you because you have no plate on your trailer you are hauling. Can I get your lisence, registration, and insurance?"
Driver: "I swore this trailer did." *hands me his information* "Here you go sir."
-I notice the driver seems a bit nervous.-
"Alright sir I'll be right back with you"
----------------------------------------------------
*I walk to the back of my car, walk around to the passanger side, start going through his info, and grabs my portable mic to call in his info*
"SUP2 to COPA, Can I get a DL and Wants/Warrants check on one."
COPA: "Go Ahead"
SUP2: "Last of Jenson, First of Thomas, Middle inital of J for James, WMA, DOB of 08/26/1980, Local."

Re: Patrol centre
'Hey Linda, we got one that looks quite damaged there.' I point over at a semi truck pulling out of the docks with a dented front and right side of the cab. 'Can you get the plate on the EAT, then we'll get him on the Interstate.' I say, shifting our car into drive and following after the semi, which had a large closer container on the rear. I prepare the emergency lights, and wait to see if I'll need to pull up in front for him to see me, or just indicate from the side and slightly behind.

Re: Patrol centre
'Got it.' I reply, flicking on the emergency lights and the left turn signal as I change lanes. I flick it off as I accelerate past the truck, and then turn on the rear lights, the director bar to the right, and the right turn signal. As the car in front of us realises it's not him, he drives off, and I point at the truck driver from ahead. He starts to change lanes careful, and I turn off the signal and slow down slightly, to get behind the truck as he pulls onto the Shoulder. I click the director bar the other direction, and slowly brake, coming up behind the Truck. 'Alright. Gotta be careful here.' I said, half to myself as I realised the speed of the passing cars was much higher than on the Interpass, where'd I'd stopped cars before.
