Something the fire department did last night:

They were investigating a smoke alarm, and a deer got stuck in a fence while they were. Used the jaws to open the fence and get the deer out, then used them again to put the bars in their original position, like nothing happened lol.

The wonderful city of Newark, NJ has a 3 alarm right now. Heavy fire divisions 2 and 3, entrapment on division 3, Newark police officers were able to go in and evacuate the others. Both exposures to the fire building are fully involved. The third alarm was just dispatched about 5 minutes ago after somebody reported fire through the roof of one of the exposures. Mutual Aid's starting to come in now for cover assignments.

And they want to lay off firefighters........

EDIT: And just as this is happening, in my town there is a car on fire in a driveway extending to the home

EDIT #2: Command just ordered all units evacuate the buildings, not all companies have par at this time. All companies now have bar at 01:59 EST.

EDIT #3: As per command (Deputy 1 I believe) All searches turned up negative, making progress, still heavy fire in the B exposure

EDIT #4: 4th alarm being transmitted at 02:01 EST

Well I'm up not that I want to be. Stupid domestic disputes. Now there was a hot girl there, not in relation to the domestic. So, that made it a little better

I didn't see a lot of pis, but my dad said that he thinks he saw his truck from BP there, E16. He said that no other truck has a deck gun like it. I mean, look at this thing!

It took 6 1/2 hours to get the fire under control. Fire was dispatched at 1:02am, placed under control at 7:41am.

Newark Fire Department is already undermanned, and they still want to lay off more firefighters, cops, and EMS workers..... ridiculous.....

Well I make minimum wage with this service as an EMT, so at least if I become a medic then I get more per hour.

Newark, NJ police scanner. If I heard correctly, they have 34 calls pending. And one that just recently went out was "Called in by fire: The girlfriend is beating up her boyfriend's wife in her back yard" also an MVA with a pregnant female requiring extrication.

It just doesn't get old. I highly recommend listening to any Newark, NJ scanner online if you're bored. Here's some police codes for ya for Newark:

so I went to the farmers market over the weekend and bought some homemade salsa. The lady sold me her burning salsa.. I am just now trying it... so good but soooo hot!

haha Awesome. I love spicy food/salsa and sauces and everything.

Explorer class is cancelled tonight NO! We were supposed to do stuff with EMS, but the EMS guy is sick.

Oh ya BTW it was my first day of school today. Pretty fun, one class of 27 kids...oh yeah!

haha, I don't have school until september ! Yeah, ever since I left, everything had been going downhill. Even the Lt. isn't showing up.

I'm doing an overnight shfit right now. I told my self about 45 minutes ago that I'll try to get some sleep in a minute. 45 minutes later, I'm still at the computer. I want to go to sleep except I know that as soon as lay down and shut my eyes, I'm going to hear "Central to next available EMS unit." over the radio.

Oh well, guess it's worth a try... I'll go lay down now. Let's see how long it is before I get a call now...

Yeah, I pretty much go to bed when I get around to it. lol

Did better than I expected though. Got a good 20 minutes in before we got a call. Then after that got a few hours of sleep, then of course, at 06:30 this morning (A half hour before the shift ends), rollover with entrapment on the highway during a random downpour.

Sorry to hear that. So far 26 hours into my 48 hour shift we have yet to have a call. I love rural EMS. Not as busy, but when we get something bad it's just you and your medic.
