Waste Centre Accident

' Yea Jack ur right im gonna go grab a seat, come and see me when ur done taking care of the Patient. '

* I get up, grab my turnout coat and walk over to the back bumper of the Engine and grab a seat. I look at the cut on my upper arm, it appears to be quite deep definatly requiring stitched. the Tissue is exposed and the bleeding has yet to cease. *

" Pump-11 t COPA, when we are clear here please put us out of service so I can be treated for a deep laceration at ETC please. "

*I watch Floan go to the Pump then turn back to dave. I thak out a splint and put it on his leg to keep it stablelized. I take out my cuff and quickly take his BP to see how bad the internal bleeding is. I find his blood pressure is extreamly low at 93 over 69.

((I am freezed until Medics are active))

'You find anything?'
*I keep steady holding C-spine until we can get the head bed on him and I try to check respirations at the same time.*
'From the look of it, it seems pretty dang slow. Hey, not seeing much breathing here. Let's get the headbed on him so we could start bagging him.'

" Pump-11 to COPA, can we respond PEMS for patient transport. "

* I get up and walk over to Jack and Hannahan who are still taking care of the patient on the ground. *

' Guys I called for PEMS rather than wait for our EMS crews, but either way how is he doing jack???, If he continues to go downhill with his bp, start a second IV of Ringers TKO, give him 02 by mask and also get him on the ECG monitor as well, make sure u keep a strip every couple minutes for the ER to examine. Im gonna go back and grab a seat, my freaking arm hrts like hell '

'Hey Lt. hows the arm?'

*I walk over to Floan on the bumper of the truck.*

'Yeah Daniels, get the backboard out here and lets strap him in. Get the head bed out of the collar bag too.'
*I keep his head perfectly still as my arm starts to ache a bunch.*
'Dang Daniels, after you get the backboard and straps and things, hold c-spine for me. This is killing my arm.'

' It hurts lolol but i'll live. Hannahan, do your guys need any assistance with clean-up ? '

" Pump-11 to COPA any ETA on our Medic unit or PEMS? "

"Matthews to floan, any need for this hose or can casey and i load this back up"
* I stand with the hose and wait to be able to leave*

'Uhh by the look of it, not really. Just uhhh, call a tow truck here for me. You could clear up if you want when we're done with the patient. We'll stay back.'
*I take my hands off of c-spine hoping the man will stay still and I shake them and quickly place them back on his head again.*

*As I look down the road, I see some flashing lights and a PEMS rig and also one of our trucks come to get the patient.*
'Thank god.'
*The PEMS guys come over to me and start helping me but I tell them to help John instead.*

" Commant to Matthews, Negative u can wrap up the hose, we can begin to clean our area up now as well. "

* The PEMS crew come over and begin to examine my arm. *

' Ouch, dude seriously, are you trying to help me or give me an armbar. '

* The medic looks at me with the weirdest look possible. *

' Nevermind lets just get this overwith. '

* He proceeds to bandage my arm up and tell me to go to the hospital and get it stitched. I nod my head at him, put my turnout coat on the floor below my seat and walk over to the ambulance where Jack and Hannahan are loading the patient into the back. *

' Jack we need to head to the ER anyways, doyou feel comfortable riding in the back with the medics? '

'Alright, lift.'
*The ERT medic and I lift and place the patient on the stretcher.*
'Ok, good. You need help inside.'
No we're good.
'Alright.'
*I turn around and walk back over to the door on the ground. I pick it up and place in the bed of the truck. I turn to Floan.*
'How you doin' man. You ok?'
"Rescue 1 to COPA, we have one transporting with ERT EMS. Also note one minor personnel injury. We're cleaning up here so send out a tow."

* I see the PEMS and ERTEMS ambulances role up on scene, finally I think to myself. I look at Dave knowing he most likely has massive bleeding in his leg from his Femer Fracture. I take his blood pressure again to see how it's doing. It is now at 90/67. It isn't falling as fast anymore. I get out as O2 tank and a mask. I put the mask over Dave's face and start to O2. I also hook up our ECG moniter to keep an eye onhis heart rate. I motion for the Medics to come help so Hannahan and I can get the Vic on to the gurrny. We pick up the back board and put the man on the Gurrny. Hannahan and I role it into the back of the Ambulance when Floan asks a question.

'um sure I can do that, less clean up for me. I will se ya at the ETC then.'

*I give a thumbs up to Floan while I crawl into the ambulance and we take off to the ETC.

* I see the PEMS ambulance take off to the ER, I walk over to Colwell and Matthews who are rolling hose and cleaning the scene. *

' Well u guys when this is cleaned mount up, Tim can u drive us to ETC when we are clear?. '

*I finish putting away my last section of hose, take off my coat and throw it in the floor board as I hop in the truck.*

'Ok. I'm ready to roll.'

*I walk to Floan as we finish up.*
'Hey, you doin the report? heh. I'm kiddin', I'll do it. Get that checked out.'
"Rescue 1 to COPA, can all units clear?"
*I walk over to the Rescue officers side and start typing in the EAT.*

Call Type: Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment
Fire Units called: R-1, P-11
EMS Units called: PEMS unit, ERT EMS unit
Police Units called: N/A
Personnel injuries: 1. Pumper 11 Lieutenant Floan injured himself while attempting to extricate the victim. There is a large laceration on the distal part of the arm. He was checked out by PEMS and was told to report to a doctor to get it checked out.
Summary: Fire units arrived on scene to find that the victim was trapped in his pickup truck due to his leg being caught between the dash and floor. The battery was cut off and extrication was started. A small fire erupted in the engine block of the pickup truck and was quickly suppressed. As time went on, the victims' vitals began to diminish but was then extricated. All units have overhauled and are going to clear.

' My guys lets pack it up. '

* I walk over and shake Hannahan's handand give him a quick pat on the shoulder. *

' Good Call John, I'll see u on the next one. '

* I walk back slowly over to the engine, take one last look around and climb aboard, I close my door, put my headset on and recline back. I look over at Tim and chuckly. *

' Ok Driver take this Limo to the Hospital please LOLOL. '

" COPA, Can Pump-11 Clear and head to ETC for Paramedic follow-up. "

'Yea man.'
*I jump out and take off my helmet and wait for the tow to come.*
'Kitty litters done and uhh, oh. Get the winch ready. Gotta take this tractor off of this truck. Make it easier for the tow guy.'
*I go to the side of the truck and activate the winch loosening it a bit.*
'Disconnect it and attach it to the bottom of the tractor.'
*I go over to Mitch's seat and make sure the truck is in park. I then walk back over to the winch controls and wait for Mitch to hook up.*

* i finish loading the hose and take some of my gear off and get into the drivers seat*
' yup, lets roll'
* we clear the scene and continue to drive to the hospital*

'Alright guys, let's roll.'
*The tow guy comes just as I say that and I help him load the truck up after removing the tractor. We shake hands and he leaves.*
'Ok now lets go haha.'
*I jump into my seat and close the door. I put on my headset and seatbelt sitting back in my sit.*

'Rodger'
*I hop into the truck and set my helmet on the deck*

"Understood, do not return to station, please return to the complex, we're gonna do a quick info session for all personnel"

"11 copies COPA, were at ETC now, ETA about 20 minutes"
"11 to floan and anders, how long ya guys think you'll need, copa just requested we head to HQ?"

"We copy."
*We head towards the complex.*

I start the engine and roll towards the complex. With only my turnout pants on.
