Smoke Explosion SAR

*I grab the fan off of the truck and set it up at the door. I drag the cord reel over to the fans and hook them up and turn them on.*
'That should help once we get the smoke cut off.'
"Ladder 1 to command, fans have been set up and I will be making entry to the building at this time. Can we get an ETA of the smoke getting shut off?"

* I had the patient to cory and walk back into the building and begin to crawl as i pass floan on his way back out*
( Im gonna wait till jack comes back and let him do some stuff)

( Vict-3..until floan brings his out then it will be 4)

'Ya got it Lt. Just keep ahold of me.'

*I turn around and follow the rope back out that I tied off to the front door.*

'Doing ok back there Lt.?'

"Command to ladder one we could have atleast another Hour due to the smoke being compressed."
*I walk over to Chris and Jack*
'Jack you and Chris get some tools and start searching'
*As I walk toward the door a young female come out coughing and I rush over to her*
'Ma'am are you ok?'
'Yes I am'
'Are you having trouble breathing?'
'No I am fine now'
'Ok follow me well get you some water and oxygen'
'Ok'
*I start leading the woman to triage*
"Command to triage we have one green coming your way probable smoke inhalation"
(4 vics)

' Im good John, can you see anything? '

* I look back at the lady who is using my mask Much more than she should and my lungs by now are killing me. *

' Miss, I need that back please. '

* I take it back, take several deep breath's and give it back to her. *

'It's getting better, I think we should be getting close to the exit.'

*I hold on to the rope until I get to the exit and turn to Floan.*

'Here Lt. let me take her. You go get yourself checked out real quick.'

' Cool thx john, I'll meet u over at the RA.'

* I hand the Female over to Colwell and head over to the RA for a quick bout of rehab. *

" Pump-11 Command to Ladder 1 Forsyth, We have another Victim out now bringing the total victim count to 5 "

*I take the lady over to triage and set her down on the green tarp.*

'She's taken in a lot of smoke but I think she is fine.'

*I take my mask off and get a drink of water and check my air level which reads a little over 1/2.*

"Recieved Pumper 11 command"
*I walk back over to the ladder and take a look at the smoke pouring from the building*
'5 out 10 to go I say to myself'
"Command to all units make sure you check your air I don't want anyone getting trapped without air."

*I grab a set of irons and start searching the rooms. I search and find nothing in the main lobby and start searching the next rooms.*

'Hey, Lt. I'm ready to go back in when ever you are.'

' Ok John lets move out, I'll follow you back in. '

( Godmod me for a little bit we are going to another House for a late dinner tonight, i should be back in an hour or 2. )

* I get my gear back on, put my mask back on and follow Colwell back into the building. *

( im just gonna wait for jack, i dont wanna do everything..)

'Ok Lt.'

*Floan and I both head back into the buiding. I tie myself back off on the rope tied to the door again.*

'Here we go again!'

( I agree with Tim too. its time to let the Ladder start pulling people out too. We can hang back and slow down. )

*I break open a door and see a person lying on the ground unconscious. I pick him up and head for the exit.*
"Ladder 1 to RA 1 can I get a streacher to the main entrance for an unconscious victim."

*I get about two feet in and suddenly the air flow stops from my SCBA. I do a quick "about face" and quickly point backwards at Floan and run outside and strip off my mask.*

'Sorry Lt. Something happened with my SCBA. I'm going to go back to the truck and check it out.'

*I head back to the pumper and look over my SCBA.*

*I see John quickly come back out and I walk over to him*
'Everything alright John?'

*I stop and turn to Jess.*

'Ya. My SCBA messed up. We are fine. It will be a little bit before I am ready again though.'

'Alright make sure you get some water before you go back in'
*I go grab a water for myself and take a sip of it*
"Command to all active search teams whats your status and how are you on air"
*I start grabbing spare air bottles and set them up so they can be swapped out easily when needed*

*I take off my SCBA at the truck and look over it. I can't see anything wrong so I just grab a new SCBA off the truck and a bottle of water.*

'Ok Lt. I'm good to go now.'

"RA1 to L1 I have a victim on my cot right now, I'll be back in a few."
*I hook the patient up to the cardiac monitor and see that she is in VT @ 160 with a pulse. I grab the pads and place them on the patients chest. I set the monitor to sync cardiovert. I cardiovert her at 100 J. The cardioversion is successfull. I wheel the patient over to the red tarp. and lay her there. I turn to Doug.*
'Doug when you get a chance this red needs to go. She has just been cardioverted from VT.'
*I grab the cot again and roll back to the front door to get L1's Pt. I wait at the front door for Jack.*

* I place the victim on the cot and check my air before heading back in. I go past the oom where I found the last victem and into the next. I breach the door and the room flashes over.*
'Woah, hope no one was in there.'
"Ladder 1 to command I just had a foom flash on me, you might want to consider getting some hose lines in here."

" Pump-11 Command to Pump-11 Matthews, can you and Jack go over and check it out where the ladder 1 guy had the flashover, Nothing showing on the outside, Colwell and I are on our way back in. BREAK Pump-11 Command to Ladder 1 Command, Myself and FF Colwell are heading back into the structure, that puts ALL of Pump-11 with the exception of Van Der Water on the inside. "

* I Start back in with Colwell where we again encounter heavy smoke, although not as thick as before it is still nearly impossible to see. * I start walking through feeling in front of me with my halligan hoping to come to some point in the structure where it is easier to see. *

*I follow close behind Floan and try to scan the room through the smoke to see anything.*

'Man this smoke sucks. You can't see a thing in here.'

*I think to myself how anyone else could still be alive in all of this smoke.*

((Hey Tim thanks for waiting! But I wont be very active for the next week and a half so go ahead and godmod me ))

'Okay tim lets go check this out. You are on the nozzel this time.'

*I grab the hose line and give it to Tim. I then get behind him and follow him into the smoke. I cough and realize my mask is open. I shut it and turn on the air and continue.

"Command to pumper 11 get a line in there and check out the flashover. Ladder 1 Luekenbach continue your search"
*I run over and help stretch the line off the pumper*

"Understood command."
*I continue crawling through the darkness and find another room. I search it and find a body, charred beyond recognition.*
Ladder 1 to command, i'm coming out with one priority black."
*I make my way outside and walk over to triage.*
'Where do you want me to put it?'

*I continue behind Floan closely trying to keep contact with him or the wall so I don't get lost in this smoke.*

'Hey Lt., do you see anything yet?'

' No I got nothing, lets keep moving forward. '

* I start walking further into the Smoke Eventually my Halligan meets something Solid. I feel around and come to a knob of some sort, I open the door and suddenly the smoke clears but only for a moment and I see a huddled group of 6 people. They all cheer but the smoke starts to fill the room quickly. John and I rush in and close the door. I take off my mask and introduce Myself. *

' Hello, Im with Lt. Floan with the Fire Department, this is John Colwell we are going to be your rescuers today. '

* The people smile and thank us. and then move aside to reveal 1 person who is down and is having serious trouble breathing. *

" Pump-11 Command to OSC Priority traffic, We have found a room with approx 6 people here, 5 green tag and 1 yellow possibly red, We're gonna asses the situation. BREAK Pump-11 Command to Matthews, I need a ALS bag and a spare SCBA Immediatly. We are in the center of the building in a vault of some sort. "

*Tim and I come to the room with the suspected flash over. We find nothing but smoke. I take my TIC and scan the room and still find nothing.

"Anders to P-1 command, room with suspected flash is negative for fire."

I recieve the transmission of the need ALS bag.

'alright Tim lets head back to the truck and grab a bag and air tank.'

*We cup our hands around the hose and follow it back out the door hauling the hose behind us. When we finaly get back to the door I can see the light trough the cloud of smoke just outside the door. I walk to the truck and grab the bag and Tim the spare SCBA.

'hey Tim can you grab the budy system for that?'

" Pump-11 Comand copies Anders, Negative for fire. we sure could use that ALS bag though. "

* I walk over to the patient and start checking his Vitals and breathing. *

' John get his shirt off him and lets turn him on his side. '

" Pump-11 to RA-1, I have a Male approx 48 years old he has symptoms common to Smoke Inhalation, Grayish mucus, from his Mouth , his skin is a very pale color and his eyes are a dark red color, he is short of breath and having a hard time recovering after a deep exhale. I have NO als bag however 1 is on the way, I also have 5 other patients here varying in age and condition, however all are walking wounded and can exit building on their own power. BREAK Pump-11 Commnd to Anders or Matthews, Also incude a Stokes please. "

(Remember, I said no fire, if anyone makes a fire, they will be beaten. Follow restrictions carefully, otherwise you're in trouble! If someone doesn't though, just continue with it and try to keep as close as possible without disregarding them)

"Command, report please. Are you okay on everything there?"

'Ok Lt.'

*I take out a pair of trauma shears from my turnout gear and cut the victims shirt off.*

"Pump-11 Colwell to Pump-11 Matthews and Anders. Look for the rope tied off to the front door. It is tied off to me. Follow that and you should find us."

'Hey Lt. I'm going to check on these other 5 victims real quick, if your ok with him.'

"Command to COPA we have 12 out of the 15 missing persons found we are continuing SAR ops to find the remaining 3"
*I take a sip of my water and walk over towards the door*
"Command to Pumper 11 Command whats your status with that group of people"

' Im good John go ahead. '

* I stick with the Victim as Colwel checks the others. *

'Ok Lt.'

*I head over to the other patients.*

'Are you all OK? Does any of you have any medical problems?'

*They all say they are fine and nothing is wrong.*

'Ok. Everyone just stay calm and we will get you all out of here in no time.'

"Understood Jess, how you handlin the situation there though, want me to send out reinforcements, or do you think you can handle this one?"

" Pump-11 Command to Ladder 1 Forstyh, We have a total of 6 Victims here, 5 are green tag walking wounded, 1 is yellow and quickly moving to red. I have 2 of my guys grabbing me an ALS bag and a stokes, we're gonna stabilize on site until o2 Arrives. "

* the Patient starts to aspirate a black/gray fluid. I roll him on his side until he stops. *

' John are u good? '

((sorry Tim, just tring to keep the call moving))

*Tim grabs the buddy system and we both grab a stokes basket. I take lead and turn on my flashlight as we enter the building. I find the rope and follow it down what I can kind of make out as a halway. I feel the rope veer away quickly and am to slow to react as I walk into a wall.

'Damit'

*I recover and keep follwing the rope until my hand comes on to the back of Colwell.

'Pizza boy is here'

*I say tring to liven the mood.

'Lt. we grabed a buddy system with three masks, the stokes and ALS bag. wea are ready to help.'

"Command to COPA, we should be able to hold with what we have. Just keep the Squad on standby in case anything developes"
*I grab a few bottles of water and put them on the bumpers of the trucks for the crew to grab*

( no prob jack, and for floan: im gonna be pretty inactive for the next 2-3 days, ton of work and golf meets and all that stuff..so feel free to god mod me as much as you want, doesnt phase me)

* I grab the scba rit pack with 3 masks attached and follow jack back in the building until we meet floan and crew*
* I had floan the scba and the stokes*
' Lt, once we finish with victims lets get some meters out and see what we have in this smoke, we can then relay that to the doctors, never know what cnacer causing crap could be in this stuff'

"RA1 to Command, suggest that we get the MCI bus rolling with how many paitents we have. I have a count of 2 black, 2 red, 1 yellow, 5 green total of 10 found 5 still missing."
*I take L1's patient back to doug for treatment and tag him red. I head back to the door to meet P11 when they come out with our yellow patient.*
"RA1 to P11 command, I'm standing by at the door for your yellow. Can you get any history?"

((Vic Count 2 black tag, 2 red tag, 1 yellow tag, 5 green, 5 missing. 2 In black triage, 3 in treatment area, 5 in green triage area.))

* I take the ALS bag and give the extra masks to the guys. *

' Here can you guys start distributing them accordingly, have them share if necessary. '

* I look around the mans pockets for his wallet and notice he has a medical alert bracelet on saying he is a type 2 diabetic and has severe asthma. *

' Oh lord, Sir are you an asthmatic? '

* The man nods his head yes as best as he can fo rnow he starts to become altered. *

" Pump-11 to RA-1 Patient has a history of Asthma and Diabetes, Patient has also become aaltered and pipils are now dialated. We are administering o2 @ 3Lpm via Cannula, Patient has had no breathing treatments withing the last 6 weeks. We should be ready to move here shortly. "

* John can you help me load him onto the Stokes, ZTim, Jack get those people ready to move, this is gonna be a nice controlled walk through the smoke and out the front door make sure they stay togther, we dont need any more surprises. '

" Pump-11 to OSC, we are getting ready to move with 6 over. "

'Sure thing Lt.'

*I head over to Floan and help him load the patient into the stokes basket.*

'Here TIm and Jack. Tie them all to this rope so we don't lose anybody.'

*I untie the rope from my waist and hand it to them.*

'Okay.'

I turn to the crowd of people who are standing around. 3 people have the masks on.

'Okay everyone I am FF Jack Anders with the ERT, and this is FF Tim Matthews of the ERT. We are going to help move you all from here to the exterior via guide line. I will need the three with the masks to stay together and the two without masks to pick either me or Tim to share a mask with. Does everyone understand?'

I see them all nod. One man walks up to me.

MAN: 'I will be with you, Ron can go with Tim.'

'Okay that will be fine, here take afew breaths through this.'

*I take off my mask and take very shallw breaths as the man uses my mask. When he is done I put it back on and walk over to Floan.

'Are you okay Lt? We are ready to leave. I would like to get out of here hefore anyone else goes down.'

*I take the line from colwell and tie it to the door knob. I Then take my rope and run it through the peoples belt loops until they are all roped together.

'This should help you all stay together and not get lost.

'Ok, Lt. I'm ready. Lets get out of here. This guy is going down hill fast.'

*I wait at the door for the group pumper 11 found hoping everyone there would be alright*
"Command to Pumper 11 command are you gonna need anything for the victim when you get out here?"

" Pump-11 Command to OSC, yes we'll need assistance for everybody coming out as far as help getting to the RA's also we'll need a stretcher for 1 victim and a drug kit, but i think RA-1 is handling that. We are moving out now. "

' Ok guys im gonan open this door slowly, there will be a lot of smoke but NO FIRE ok so there will be no burns so dont worry, all you have to do is follow the leader just like in school and we'll get out of here, Jack, you lead the rope with the people on it, tim you bring up the rear with the people, Colwell and i are going to be 1st out with the stretcher.'

* I walk over to the door, open it up and instantly smoke fills the room, alhtough there was enough of an area in the room so that the smoke filled it up byut made it hazy outside, so there is more visibility now, I pick up the stretcher with colwell and we start our trek out towards the exit. *
