Traditions Museum Fire Alarm Active

*I mask up and walk with Floan and the others down to the basement. I desecnd the stairs very carefully and breath as steady as I can. At the bottom of the stairs there is a landing I think it is the floor and stumble missing the last stair. I recover and turn on my helmet and chest light.

'Dammit, watch the last step!'

*I look around. There are alot of boxes cluttering the halway but I don't yet see any flames. The basemet is full of smoke so I can't see very far infront of me.

" Pump-11 Interior to Pump-11 Exterior, stop with the exterior suppression for now, it is creating a tremendous amount of smoke, we are inside now so we will start the search in the basement, for now can you guys go assist the RA with RIT prep. BREAK Pump-11 Command to Ladder 1 Command copy that we have made entrance to the basement, there is alot of smoke and steam but no fire as of yet. "

' If you all havent yet go ahead and Mask up this may get a little hairy here in a minute with all these boxes and god help us if there are alot of pallets down here. '

* I put my mask on and begin the flow of air, I stand up and start making my way through the boxes and debris looking for any sign of fire. *

" Pump-11 Command to all Interior units, stay close and buddy up this smoke is WAY too think in here I dont want anybody getting lost. BREAK Pump-11 Interior COPA, you copy the radio traffic, we have heavy smoke but no fire as of yet, we are continuing search now. "

*I turn to Tim as he walks up.*

'Something is really burning down there for all of this black smoke. Must be plastics burning.'

*I go over to the ladder and grab a fan off of the truck and move it to the door and hook up to the power box and turn it on. The fan spins up and i can instantly see the smoke being ejected from the building.*

(I already set up fans at the front door and basement door.)

*I walk to the Pumper and hook up another hose and pull it back to where I was standing*
"Botfish to Floan, I just set up another hose out here. If you need me in there let me know."

(I put one at the back door

" Pump-11 Interior command to SEV Botfish.....Copy your last......go ahead and get with Matthews and see where he needs you on the outside, right now we have 3 units inside and for a basement its gonna get crowded quick. "

* I start checking further but the smoke is way to think to confidently start rummaging through contents. *

' Guys we gotta start moving all this crap in the way here, this is not gonna go well if all these boxes go up around us. '

"Squad one captain Ewan requesting a ststus update."

*I walk over to the basement door and make my way down to start a search for the fire*
'Stay close Bruce. I don't want either of us getting lost in this smoke'

*I see Matthews and walk over to him*
'Hey Tim! Where do you want me?

" Pump-11 Command to squad 1 LFO we have heavy smoke throughout basement area, Visibility is Zero, Venting operations have begin in the main lobby, Ladder 1 and Pump-11 are both on interior search and attack Accountability is x3 for Pump-11 and x2 for Ladder 1, exterior suppression is being conducted by Pump-11 Matthews and Colwell. RA-1 is on RIT with Matthews and Colwell as back-up. "

"Rescue one on scene."
*I get out as we park behind Pumper 11 and I get out with my SCBA on.*
"Rescue 1 command to RA-1, you could switch your ops to rehab. We'll take RIT."
'Mitch, get the RIT tarp out. Moon get some chairs and now we wait.'
"Rescue 1 to interior, You need an extra hand? I'll be able to send in one."

' ok botfish and colwell, make sure you have your packs on, and grab a pike or halligan or something and we will do a 360 of the building and see what we have going on'
" exterior to interior, we have 3 members at this point, we will do a 360 of the building with a tic and see if we have any smoke or fire showing from the eves, and set up secondary escape routes"
* i walk back to the pumper and grab a halligan and the tic from the rear cab and meet back up with botfish and colwell*

'Ok!'
*I go o the pumper and grab a pike and then regroup withthe team*
'Ready!'

" Pump-11 Interior Command to Rescue 1 Command.......Negative on that we are fine at this stage however.....We can use the rest of my crew and Botfish as wellso if you can have Matthews, Botfish and Colwell regroup with us inside that would be great. BREAK Pump-11 to ladder 1 there is so much smoke......We cant see a damn thing in here, not even a glow from a fire, what do you see on your area? "

*I feel around the room with the back of my gloved hand and find a slightly ajar door. I go to crawl forward to open the door alittle more when I feel some thing coushy. I look down and my light goes over what apears to be two glossy marbles.

'I found a body! I found a body!'

*I wait for someone to come help as I go down to listen for a breath. I hear nothing, not even a faint gasp.

*I look around hearing the roar of a fire but not seeing anything*
"Pumper 11 command form Ladder 1 command I can hear a fire, but its so damn smokey I can't see an inch infront of my face."

* I make my way to Jack, shine my spotlight on him and see he has a body with him, I crawl over to him and notice that it is a woman, I take my cover off then my mask and put it to her face, give her a quick blast of air, that doesnt help the matter much so I start changing my mask off between myself and Her hoping for something. *

' Jack we gotta get her out of here, take her legs I got her arms. '

" Pump-11 Interior to RA-1 We have a Female Victim inside, unknown on any vitals....We are going to be bringing her out shortly, Rescue-1 Do you copy that traffic as well. BREAK Pump-11 Command to Pump-11 Matthews, I am coming out with Jack and a single grab. Once you are inside, take over Interior command for the Pumper until I get back with Anders. "

"I here you have a body i'll be waiting by the front door to give you assistance. Then head inside"
*I set ym pike down and turn on my air and rn to the front door*

*I take the womans legs and put them on my shoulders as I begin to crawl backwards slowly. I see Floan carry her arms as we get back to the steps. I carefully take the womens legs and hold them as we begin our assent up the stairs. I still have my ALS bag but have ditched the high rise pack.

'Stairs. Are you ready Lt.?'

"Anders, when you get to the top I can asses her. Is that ok? BREAK Did you happen to get her vitals"
*I check to see how much time I have left on my air*

' Ready Jack, you lead the way. '

* I get up and lift the woman with Jack in front of me and we start carrying her out the door, bumping into things as we go along. *

*I keep climbing up the stairs and can see the little bit of light through the clouds as I get to the top of the stairs I step on nice flat carpet. Floan and I then take here over to the front landing. I set her down and set my bag down too. I start to get her vitals I check for a pulse. None. I listen to see if she is still breathing. None. I open her mouth and look down into her throat and can see a thick black mucaus lining the back of her throat.

'Floan we dont have a pulse or breath, she has signs of smoke inhalation. I think we should intubliate and start her on O2 and get a defibulator what do you think? Can you call for Marshall to come help?'

" roger that command"
' alright colwell, botfish mask up we're going inside'
* i grab my halligan and mask up and lead the crew down the stairs where i find anders hotel pack*
" interior command to any interior units, i need location and status, and if any visable fire has been seen"

'Ok!'
*I pick up my pike again hoping the lady will be ok*
'let's do this'

' Jack not here in the building, lets get her outside first. '

* I lift her arms again and start taking her out the front Door with Jack behind me. We gert her outside and quickly take her over next to the RA. We put her down and i take my SCBA off. *

' Jack graba set of vitals, i'll grab our Defib. '

" Pump-11 Command to Rescue 1 Command....... We have 1 Female victim approx 33yrs old over att he Back of the RA, we have pulled her out of the basement, She is absent of vitals and has soot throughout the inside of her mouth and nose, we need your Medic over here with RA-1's crew to assist. we need to get back inside A.S.A.P. "

' Jack we'll do what we can until the others get over here then we get a very fast Rehab and then its back inside. '

'Mitch, head over to the RA. They'll need you help.'
*I walk over to the front door and decide to do a 360 of the museum.*
"R1 command doing 360 of the structure."

'Gottcha, I'll grab what I can, she isn't responsive.'

*Again I take my fingers and look for a pulse, I don't feel anything, I lean down after taking off my mask and listen for a breath but don't hear anything. Then I check her throat and can still see the thick black soot mixed mucas in her mouth.

'Floan, stilly no pulse, no breaths. I can't start CPR with that crap blocking her throat.'

"10-4 P-11, will advise further"

*I pull out a folding chair*
'I got it LT sitting in a chair I'll be good ad this. Whats the situation right now Lt.'
(aka haven't been able to catch up on the reading)
*I lean back and reach into our rehab compartment and grab a gatorade.*
'Anyone got a hot dog to roast? i'm getting hungry'

*I come back from my 360 and see nothing showing from the back and radio my findings.*
"Rescue 1 to COPA and interior units, I have nothing showing from the rear of the museum."
*I walk back to the truck and sit down on the bumper to hear Moon's question.*
'I'm not too sure what's happening inside right now but over there...'
*I point to the RA.*
'Mitch is helping out a apneic patient there. Any other questions good sir?'

*I drift into a sleep and out*
'Hmm what was that i'm taking a nap wake me up when it's time to go home'

" Pump-11 Command to Rescue 1 Command, can we get Cressler over here to Assist with this patient, Anders and I need to get back inside. "

( Seriously taking a nap? wow. )

' Jack start CPR, I'll get her hooked up to the leads. '

*I tap on Moon's head and he stumbles out of his sleep.*
'Need you at the RA to help Mitch.'
"Rescue 1 command to Pumper 11 command, he's coming over. Remember you have Mitch there also."
(Mitch and Moon is helping the patient at the RA)

(yes sleeping wee just came from another call haha)

*I grab the hand thats poking me in the head before realizing who it is*
'Woah sorry Lt. flash back to iraq.'
'What RA? geeze it's been a while since i acted a medic this should be a fun trip'
*I unzip my jacket that was making a nice cozy blanket and start walking towards that Ra*
'Whats up boys long time no see i hear someone needs me to have a life over here what do we got?'

* I look up and see Moon and Mitch coming over to assist. *

' Well its good to see u both, I have no I.D on th epatient, she is around 30ish Absent of Vitals, CPR has been initiated, No Defib as of yet I just got her hooked up to the leads, take her from here u guys and good luck, Jack lets get a water and get back inside. '

* I stand back up, pick my SCBA up, throw it on and walk over to the Engine to grab a drink before heading back inside. *

" Pump-11 Command to Rescue 1 Command......Daniels and Cressler are treating the patient now. BREAK Pump-11 Command to Pump-11 Interior.......Status report please. "

*I pull my mask on over my head and tighten up the straps and run over to the truck to get the TNT tool.*

'Ok Tim, lets go.'

*I follow him and Austin inside.*

*i year jess saying she cant see anything so i take my hook and start slaming it high above the far wall till i hear something shader i move the hook around the frame of the window clearing all the glass and some of the heat and smoke clear the room i make my way back to where jess is and i see an orange glow ahead of us*
'Jess its up ahead'

(mitch you can have lead on this if you want i'll just follow)

'Rodger Lt. see ya. Alright mitch you lead i'll follow'
*I grab a pair of gloves and get ready*

" interior to exterior, no response from ladder yet, we have nothing but heavy smoke, we need someone to help getting this smoke out, its not helping at all, we are currently in the basement and to the right, making slow progress, still have 3 members"
' alright guys, lets slow down and wait for floan and crew to re group with us, anyone have any idea on where ladder is?'

"Ladder 1 to engine crew weve found the fire its in a back room, not sure exactly which one. im attemping to clear smoke and heat from the room as we speak"

" copy that ladder, can you handle with your crew or do you need more?"
' alright guys, lets hold up and see if they need our help or if they can handle'
* i turn my nozzle out the window and begin some minor hydrolic ventilation*

"we dont have a line so yes"
*i take my hook and wave it in front of my till i see how large the fire is and i can see that its moved up the wall and is starting to roll over our heads*

"Roger that Ladder-1"
'Let's mve guys'
*We start making our way towards Ladder-1s crew*

" copy ladder, we have 3, will be making our way to your location, see if you can start moving things around"
" interior to exterior, making progress toward ladder 1 to assist in suppression"
' colwell help me drag this line, austin when we get there i want you to start throwing all that crap around and overhauling the area'
* we walk til the smoke gets heavy then we are forced to crawl*
" interior to exterior, made contact with fire, will be extinguishing, can we get acouple more fans to be set near the entrance to the basement so we can drag them down here?"
' alright colwell, ready? lets get this out'
* i slowly open the nozzle and begin to spray at the ceiling and working my way down*

*as the ladder starts making their attack, i stand up with my hook and start hooking the ceiling and pulling debreas down around us to see if there was anymore fire.*

* the fire begins to die down as i open the nozzle to fog to cover the area*
' hey, anyone have a tic with them? wait i got one here, some one take it off of my pack, check the walls and ceiling'
" interior to exterior one again, can someone on the main lobby floor check the area and see if the fire crawled through the walls?"

*as the fire dies down i turn to matthews*
'Hey, do some hydralic ventalation and ill open up the walls some more'

'Ok!'
*I take the TIC off of Matthews pack and hand it to him and start taking my pike and moveing and picking stuff up to look for fire*
'I'm starting overhaul'
*I keep picking up some boxes ad what not. then I see some flickering in a corner and I walk over and poke the wall and fire leaps out st me*
"Woah! I need some water over here!"
