Airport Assistance Call

"Getting ready." I say and grab the K-12 off the rig. "I need covers, Davis help me out."

((I ment like a city bus or a school bus for the greens. lol))

*watches all the medics set up the triage and fire getting ready to move. I then turn to look at the plane. I see it making its approach off at the other end of the runway. I think to myself: 'Hmm looks like the plane is going to make a nice landing. I guess I'll just sit back and relax and watch the medic crews take care of the patients'. I then walk over to the rear passenger side door, open it and grab out my ALS bag and throw it on the hood of my truck*

"COPA to Scene Command we just recived an update from ATC pilot is report the co-pilot appears to have a heart attack on landing. Howerver pilot also reports all passangers are believed to be in a stable condition"

"RA-1 copies COPA, we'll be set up for the copilot. BREAK RA-1 toe Squad 1 once you get the copilot out we'll be going with him."
*I turn to doug and dean.*
'Guys I need the EKG set up for a 12 lead, and I want a line of saline ready to go.'
*I get out of the front of the truck and get in the back. I grab the drug kit and get it set up so that we can give MONA asap.*

((Sup Hutch, no crazy rhythms this time.))
"Copy that, P-11 staged for ex."

'Lt, what do you want me to do?'

(theres no reason you couldn't just open the door it had a bad wheel and it was a prop plane its not that big but go ahead and got a big hole in the plane for some unknown reason...)

* I moan at the messages of the heart attack.
'God dammit, seems every incident I get to someone's ticker decides to crap out.' I mumble to myself, and join the crew from RA-1 in waiting for the patient.

'Hey Hutchy. Yet another bad ticker eh. Just get him stable and transport. I have to use Heparin with the thrombolytic, and I'm not doing that until internal bleeding is ruled out.'

*Walking up the where Kaizer and Riles are at*

'Where do yall want BLS?'

"Scene units, please remember to update the victim counts with who we rescued, and how many of each stage we have."

'Copy Raven. I'm on my way.'
*I open the equipment door, grab a crowbar and come covers, and head over to Raven. I jog through the grass towards the plane. It looks fine from here, no signs of fire or anything too serious. I keep approaching.*

*As Cory gets out, I get out too and step into the back. I get the EKG out and get new pads out. I walk to the interior door of the outside cabinet with the jumpbag and and defibrillator. I retrieve the defibrillator and slam the door shut. I place it down on the seat, then get an oxygen mask out, hook it up to an oxygen discharge and leave the oxygen turned off. I get out a bag of saline, tie the bag to one of the straps on the ceiling of the ambulance, and attach the tube*

'Got saline, oxygen, and EKG ready to go.'

*I look through the window of the side door to take a look at firefighters operating around the aircraft*

(Raven maybe if you pay attention i'm working with COPA on this call i'm not on scene and I didn't see anyone give you an order to grab a K12 since i'm working with COPA i have to see the bigger picture our insurance deprtment doens't want to play for a brand new plane becuase one of our fireman cut a whole in it for no reason now if you try the door and it doesn't work you can cut it open)

((Dude, he's the Squad 1 Lt, he can use whatever means neccessary to get everyone out of that plane. Now please stop and let us do our job, K?))
*I run up to where Raven's standing. I see him holding the K12.*
'Alright, I got covers and a crowbar just in case. Let's get this thing cut open.'

(are you paying for a new dam plane? would you talk to burke like that? I dont think you would? I am responsible for making sure your all safe and dont do something that will cost us money if we have no money you have no job)
*I look over at burke*
'Screw it i'm going home i'm not gonna be taking the fallout when these guys cut open a perfectly good airplane and cost half of us our jobs'
*I throw my headset off and storm out of the COPA room the best I can with my F*ck up back. I walk out and hop in the car I txt jess on my way home to see when she gets off shift*

((Well sorry. No, this is an emergency situation and what needs to be done will be done. We were told by Burke to begin extrication as soon as the plane landed.))
*I look around while I wait for Raven to start up the saw.*
'Should I try it with the crowbar first to see if it'll budge?'

'Jared, lay out the tarps in the triage area on the grass, then help us over here.'

"What's the status on the extrication?"

"EMS, can I get you guys ready to receive patients. RA-1, we've got reported heart attack, I want you guys to go on him right away, the rest of us will work triage and then treatment. You're cleared to haul him to our hospital as soon as he's ready."
*I walk over to the tarps laying on the frozen ground and place a different colored flare for each tarp, red for red, green for green and yellow for yellow. Hopefully we won't have to worry so much about triage, and these guys should just be a simple check and go operation to treatment*
"COPA, Be advised, we're ready to start taking victims as soon as fire has extricated. I've allotted RA-1 to serve as the immediate care for the heart attack report"

"Copy that EMS Command, we'll be standing by"
*I lean back and make a mental note never to hire Cressler on to COPA. He knows his stuff yes, but he's got to work on that attitude when people don't listen. How I would've loved to do what he did so many times though*
'Jenny, tell MCU to hold off, I'm gonna run a personnel bus over there or something, I got word they want it for transporting greens, not patients' I say to the COPA Officer working the phones. She nods and calls EMS depot on the radio

*gets in my trucks driver seat and shuts the door and plays on the cad.*

*I pick up the crowbar and jam it into the side of the door and try to pry it open. A bit of the metal moves, so I continue.*
'This might work...hold off on the K12.'

I try opening the rear door before I start up the K-12 again just to humor Moon. "Alright help me out here, there's something wedging the door hinges on the inside." I say and start up the saw.

"RA-1 to EMS command we're ready to go as soon as we get the pt. I also believe Kaizer is coming with us."
*I check around the back of the RA to see what else I can do to get ready. I see Dean up in the drivers seat ready to go, Doug is getting the EKG and O2 set up, and Kaizer is sitting on the bench next to me.*
'Doug, I don't know bad this guy may be, so have the intubation kit ready to go, if we need it. Dean, when we get the pt. I need a 12 lead EKG and an IV est. once we have that, get us on the road. I'll let you know if its Code 2 or Code 3 once we get him.'

* I look at the watch hanging from my breast pocket, and turn to Hutchison.
'We're working against the clock here. As I said he needs to go through radiology to be cleared for definite treatment. What the hell is taking fire so long? The damn plane has two doors.'

'From what I'm hearing the doors are jammed and they have to cut it open.'
*I keep watching the plane out the back doors of the RA.*

That is a Beech 1900 landing without wheels down. Note the emergency hatches that open along the side. As a side note, this is a 12 seater aircraft just like what we have in this incident. ))

(kraizer did you miss the huge argument we had over that? I know thats exactally how it should of happned but they'd rather cut it open so they can play with a big saw so like burke said we'll just ignore it)

((Arrest is anything without a palpable heart rate. It's called asystole when it's a flat line.))

*I say as I sit on the back bumper of the truck*

(Once again, truck officers or really anyone except me has power to kick people out of the ERT. You can request they be transferred or suspended but you can't do it yourself. I've been through this and threatening doesn't cut it around here.)

"Riles, what's it looking like over at EMS command?"

"EMS to COPA Looks like they've gotten in and they're bringing over the victims now. We'll be starting triage as soon as they arrive"
'Everyone, prepare' I yell to the teams as the firefighters bring over the victims

*Raven puts down the saw. I climb through the door hole and find a man who's bleeding on his forehead. I approach him.*
"Extrication complete. Be ready for victims."
'Hey, what happened? Hit your head on the seat or something.'
'Yeah, I did. It hurts and it's bleeding, but I'll be alright.' *He covers up the cut on his head with his hand. Blood runs down it.*
*I pick up my radio.*
"Davis to EMS, I'm bringing out one, a small cut on his head, but it's bleeding pretty bad. I'm bringing him out now."
'Hey can you walk?'
'Yeah.'
'Ok then, good. Follow me.'
*I grab his arm and escort him out of the plane.*

VICTIMS: 1

"RA-1 to Squad 1 have you made it to our cardiac pt. yet? If so we need a status on him."
*I put the radio down waiting for a reply.*

*I hear my radio, so I pick it up.*
'What cardiac patient?'

*I grab the radio.*
"ATC reported the copilot had a possible AMI on landing. I requested you get him out asap earlier."
*I put the radio down and look around making sure that every thing is ready.*

'Oh ok. Hold on, we're almost at the triage area. I'll drop off this guy and head back.'
*I walk to the triage area with the guy. I take him to the tarp where some medical personal are located and drop him off.*
'Here's the one with head bleeding.'
*I run back to the plane to get the copilot.*

"Any available EMS trained persons on scene please report to the triage area, ARFF can handle the gap they'd leave."

(Can we get this copilot out of the plane please?)
*I see the pt. Chuck brought out start getting treated and I see him heading back into the plane.*
"RA-1 to EMS command do you copy that we'll have Kaizer on board for transport of the possible AMI pt."

*I walk into the COPA room Burke is still sitting at his desk so I walk up to see him*
'Hey burke sorry about earlier i just needed some air. I came back down to the complex cause I remembered I have an appointment but the doc is on the call so I guess i'll wait here'

*I see FD bringing out a patient with a cut on his head so I grab the jump bag and head to him*

'Hello Sir i'm Lafferty with the ambulance service'

'How are you doing today?'

*After the patient tells me his name is Mr. Adams I grab some 4x4's and apply direct pressure to the wound*
