Airport Assistance Call - Page 4 Empty Re: Airport Assistance Call

Post by J. Riles Sat Feb 26, 2011 8:59 pm

"EMS Command COPA copies that last transmission BREAK All fire personnel coming to assist with traige, we seem to have triage done. If you guys just wanna come over and try to help with transportation, it'd be great. We're just waiting on transporting the last few. Any questions, see me at the command post" I announce, trying to clear up COPA's confusion

*I look around as I watch and wait for transport to start of the remaining patients. I realize we still have a fwe refused treatment patients sitting on the tarmac, which isn't acceptable, I walk over.*
'My name is Jason Riles, I'm the EMS commander here. I take it you're the crowd that has refused treatment?"
    They all acknowledge yes
'Alright, well, that's our bus over there for transporting all non major injuries there, so I am gonna ask that you ride with them, regardless if you're not being treated or not. That's gonna take you to the main terminal, and then the airport poile will take you in where you will register withthe red cross who will figure out lodging and that with you guys, just to make sure you're not stuck in Phoxlind with no where to stay, sound good?'
One pipes up 'My mom lives here actually, do I still have to register?'
'Yes, just tell them that, and they will call her to let her know you're fine and you can talk ot her from there'
*I walk over slightly to radio the teams*
"Units, be advised, I just breifed the refusals on what's going to happen with them now, they'll be taking the bus to the tarmac as well. Red Cross and the basic EMT on board will ensure that they are safe to go whereever. I'm clearing all EMS units to leave scene once all Patients have been brought on the bus'

"Received. We'll just be giving Kaizer a lift so he can pick up his truck."

    'Yeah no problem Kaizer.'

*I start up the ambulance, pull to the end of the complex driveway, and merge with traffic once there is a break. I drive back to the airport*

    * I jump out of RA-1 'Help? Hell Hutchy, I was just an observer, you don't need me for these runs. Call me next time you a pericardiocentesis, thoracotomy or liver wrap done in the field. I'll see you guys around.' * I say with a grin and a wink, and head over to the EDRC.

"EDRC to COPA, clearing the scene, back in service." With that I drive back home to get some sleep before my shift at the hospital starts.

*I finish packing the Triage gear away, get in my truck, turn the lights back on full as I drive off the runway to be sure that any traffic sees me. I send the Doc a text message while waiting for the front gate to get opened, it reads:*
"Hey Mike, gotta ask that you don't smoke on calls anymore, just for the sake of second hand smoke. Thanks -J"
I look down at my dash clock as I turn off the lights and continue to base. The clock reads 2101h

Once I see that everyone is in, I slowly let go of the brake pedal and we drift out of the security gates following Squad 1 back to quarters. I lift the radio off the hook; Pumper 11 and Squad 1, returning to quarters.
