Airport Emergency landing @ Johsnon

*I hobble into the dispatch*
'Wow this is my first time in here I think I have some requests for new break room equipment now haha.'
*I get a quick tour but it all seems pretty dummy proof everything is labeled and it's no where near as hard to operate as some of those piece of crap radios we had in Iraq.*
"Responding Units this is Cressler at dispatch I will be assisting on this call as Mitch is tied up with the platform rescue."

*I Flash my ERT ID to gain admintance to the airport, and flip my siren off at the same time and pull up into the staging area
'Well I guess we are the first units here.'

(you flash your id? really cause the big AMBO that says ERT didn't give it away....I think they would know why your there just saying.)

((It's the stinking terrorist attacks. . . They don't believe we are EMS))

'Basic-1 to dispatch: Be advised we are on scene staging'

*I say as I get out of the truck and put the jump bag, Spine boards, and C-collars on the cot and get it out of the truck*

*Then I walk back to where Mastro is and wait*

'I pray this goes well and without a problem'

*I say looking up at the airplane circling the airport*

"Rodger stand by for ES-1 to arrive on scene"

(The Triage tarps and that aren't on BLS rigs.. Ours is coming on S-1 )
'Cressler, the tarps and triage gear is on the Squad.. ES-1 will coordinate setup. We'll get them to prepare if all 12 plus two crew have heart attacks, but it'll probably be only minor'
"Staging teams be advised, Riles will be there shortly. Just hang around, the plane won't be ready to land for a while yet, got lots of fuel to burn off yet. Triage Gear will arrive at the scene shortly"

*I look across the room at burke*
'My bad our rigs at home are all ALS and all have triage stuff I forget what gear is in the BLS trucks here'

(( For the sake of realism, I'll delaying my arrival a bit. Since I'm responding from home, it would take longer for me to get there, and I'm waiting to hear back from COPA about the MCU (see EAT thread for this incident). Btw Burke, good call on the aircraft not just dumping the fuel, but rather burning it off. Very few aircraft these days have fuel dump capacity. A lighter aircraft can land at a slower speed, causing less damage. And there's also the obvious benefit of having less of the very flammable aviation fuel on board in case of a fire ))

*I turn off my siren as I approach the gates, just to be informed until I'm standing by on the tarmac I need the siren on, for safety's sake. I turn it back on and proceed code 3 to the standby area, looking to just see Me, theBLS and theARFF*
"COPA, ES-1 on scene, standing by, we're gonna start setting up now for triage of the potential victims."
'Hey, Guys, I need you to set up nose towards the road, and back towards here, I've got some linings in my trunk, green red and yellow to specify what treatment area. We'll need the squad to arrive first though if we want to set up a full triage area. Burke told me they shouldn't expect too many injuries of the major type at all'

*Edited out, waiting for fire to arrive first.*

*arrives at the airpot and pulls up to the gate and the guard doesnt wanna let me in*

"Let me see your FD ID sir." says security.

"I'm driving a damn fire chief vehicle, with federal plates, red light and siren, and have a fire uniform that a big enough clue?"

"Let me see your ID or you can't come in."

"Fine!"

*Pulls out wallet shows him my ID. He opens up the gate and I started to drive through.*

"Thanks!"

"S1C to COPA, I'm Onscene staging with the medical units."

* I give the security guard at the gate an earful for stopping me to see my ID, and explain to him just where he can stuff his procedures.

Despite this I have to show my ID. With that I drive through the gate, and stop next to BLS-1. I get out, leaving the engine running and lights on. I'd rather have the pilot know where I am so I don't get hit by falling air planes.
Outside the car I fish a rather crumpled pack of cigarettes from my breast pocket, take one out and light it.
The night is chilly, and I wrap my arms around myself to try and keep warm. Looking up at the clear sky I can see the lights of the aircraft we're here to see safely down circling overhead.

I walk over to Riles and McEvoy, waving to Masto and Laferty.

'Evening gentlemen.' I say, taking a drag from my cigarette and exhaling plumes of silky white smoke. 'Let's hope the damn thing doesn't come down on our heads.' I turn to McEvoy. 'Is RA-1 busy? They're usually pretty quick to arrive on scene.*

"Yeah they are busy on that damn platform rescue I just came from, They should be enroute from the hospital soon."

* I raise an eyebrow.
'Platform rescue? Where?'

"RA-1 to IC, we're en route from the ETC Code 3, we're about 5 out."
*I hit the siren as a car fails to yeild, turns quickly to get out of our way and hits three cars when he spins out right, in front of us.*
"RA-1 to COPA, notify PPD and PFD that they have an 4 auto accident on Trulit Interpass. This will be at Phoxlind road and Trulit Interpass."
*We turn on to Phoxlind road.*
(Five minutes later)
*We turn in to the Airport and are stopped by a guard at the gate.*
'Sir, I need to see some ID.' says the guard
'Sir, I'm Paramedic Hutchison with ERT-FD we were dispatched here on an emergency landing.'
'Well then I guess everything's all right. Let me see your ID or I'll call the TSA.'
*I grab my ID from the accountibility board and hand it to him. He scoffs as the gate rises. I take my ID back as we pull through the gate and head to the staging area. Doug parks us next to Kaizer's SUV.*
"RA-1 to COPA and IC we are in staging on Johnson Airport."

"Ra1 rodger notifying ppd and pfd BREAK SC1 ES1 RA1 and ERDC on scene BREAK RA1 meet with ES1 to ready for triage before metting up with SC1 BREAK SC1 advise suggesting you clear S1 and P11 ATC advised about 30 mintues till zero fuel"

(Forgive some typing I'm on my cell phone)

*I grab the mic.*
"RA-1 copies traffic COPA, we'll speak with him shortly."
'Dean you and Doug stay with the rig, I'll go coordinate with Riles.'
*I get out of the truck and clip my portable on my hip. I see Kaizer talking to McEvoy. I wave as I walk past them over to Riles. I offer him my hand to shake.*
'I don't think we've met sir, I'm Cory Huchison, the Senoir Medic on RA-1.'

"SEV-2 to COPA, we'll be on standby at the station just incase. You catch that?"

"Rodger SEV-2 we should need you unless this thing crashes and we have a big fireball if that hapoens were gonna have you escort the MCU and block traffic"

"10-4, waiting at station until SC1 or COPA calls us in"

After finishing with the platform rescue call I get Burke's attention: "Hey do you need me here anymore? I see Cressler is working with the units. I can stay and help if you want. But I won't stay if I'm just sitting here doing nothing."

"Squad 1 on scene. Heading over to the staging area."
*I pull onto the runway and see a bunch of flashing lights. I pull over to the area, put the truck it park, turn off some of the lights, and get out of the squad. Then I put on my coat and open the roll-up door containing the tarps. I take some out and put them on the ground, still rolled up. Then I head over to the medics.*
'Ok, where do you guys want the tarps? Do you want me to unroll the squad's medical tent and put them there, or is there a better spot?'

"ATC has just cleared the plane to pull up for an approach, there is no fuel left on board, so it should not cause any sort of fire, we'll mostly handle rescue and traige."
'Mitch, you're cleared, your shift is done'

(I'm study flying cause I want to get my license and they have to have engine power so they still have some fuel on board....plus I'll and other fluids just saying )

"Copy COPA, we're almost finished staging for Triage"
'Hey, you guys ready? They just said the plane was preparing to land!'
"Fire, I won't need you guys for triage until we've got everyone off that plane. So focus on rescue then triage"
*I do up the zipper to my Red ERT jacket then get in the cab of my truck*
"Hey, recommend everyone get inside their units, incase anything goes flying.. Would rather my truck get beaten down than me "

"Thanks Burke, I'll monitor the call from home. Call me if you need me." I shut down my computers, grab my phone, key and wallet. I also grab a Red Bull from the fridge in the coffee room. I sign out of COPA, and put my COPA ID around my neck. I wave to Burke and Cressler and walk out of COPA. I unlock my car, start it and head home.

(they're gliding, and it won't explode, I'm being very specific, otherwise it will end up exploding because someone says so)
"Copy, everyone please return to safe quarters till plane is down"

*I hear the order from Burke and quickly head back to RA-1 I get in the passengers seat of the RA and wait for the plane to fall.*

'Alright, copy.'
*I climb back into the driver's seat, close the door, roll up the window, and wait for the plane to land.*

*I look up into the sky seeing the plane begin to descend lining up with the air strip closer to the staging area
*I look to Dave and point to the landing strip
'Looks like he's goin for that one.'

**Pumper 11 pulls up to that same gate guard that everyone seems to be having problems with. I hit the sirens,Q and airhorn until he opens the gate. When he finally opens it, we approach along the side of S-1 and I have my crew get out and stage with S-1 and the other medic units**

"Whats the plan?"

* I see the plane line up for final approach and drop my cigarette, crushing it under my foot to put it out.
'I hope he gets it right on the first run.' I say to no one in particular, and get into the EDRC.

"The plane is on final approach, gliding in now with empty tanks. Should be touching down momentarily.. Probably gonna have a bunch of light injuries, but shouldn't be an explosions or too many major injuries"

'The tarps are over here if you need them.'
*I point to the front of the squad, as the tarps are rolled up over there. Then I look at the plane as it starts to descend.*

I watch from the officers seat of the Squad as the plane, it's engine ssputtering a little bit descend onto the runway farther out. "Let's get going." I say and watch as it glides down, and skids on the run way and veers into the grass. It comes to rest on the field. I get back into the officer's seat to cross the field.

((Guys mostly greens and yellows in triage, one or two reds no blacks. Should be mainly greens.))

(( Probably no reds either, with a gentle landing like that. Hell, might not even be yellows.))

* I pull out of the staging area as the plane comes to a halt. Parking a safe distance from it, I walk to the back of the EDRC and get the trauma kit and drug bag. I walk over to the aircraft, and wait for people to start coming out, and people from Squad 1 to go in.

'Alright it's down. Dean get the gear loaded on the cot and lets head over to help Kaizer.'
*I grab my portable and hop out of the truck seeing Doug, and Dean doing the same. Dean grabs the cot, and Doug and I head over to Kaizer.*

*Upon seeing the plane touchdown, I get in the passenger seat and wait for Masto to hop in and drive us to the plane.*

*Once we arrive at the plane*

'Masto if you will grab the cot, the O2 bag and the jump bag.'

'I will grab a spine board, C-Collar, and some quick straps.'

*I grab the gear and load it on to the stretcher, and wheel it over to where Kaizer is and get ready for the people to get off the plane.*

*I jump in and start the ambulance and switch the gears from park to drive.
'Alright'
*I say as I begin to slowly apply pressure to the accelerator, approaching the plane.
'Wouldn't want to be the owner of that plane huh?'
*I mumble
*As I get around the same area as distance away as the EDRC, I put the ambulance into high idle and get out, heading towards the rear and open the back doors
*Once inside the back I place the jump bag, and some Oxygen onto the reeves, and unload it off the ambulance.
'Ready when you are.'
*I say to dave.

"Guys, move the ambulance not the gear. Set up triage on the grass, it's too far to move people.Squad one to S1C Pumper 11 is available on scene, we're going to need at least 4 more ambulances and a bus."

*I go back over to RA-1 and hop into the driver's seat. I move RA-1 to the grass.*
'Dean go ahead and put the rest of the gear into the RA, we'll take the most seriously injured.'

(Raven who are you telling to move the ambulance?)

((Hutchison I didn't see if he moved the ambulance. If he did my bad.))

(Ok, just making sure you weren't meaning BLS.)

(The ambulances should fine to transport victims... I chose this call since we wouldn't require the Bus for it, because we don't have enough people to staff it right... try and work without it for now)
"I'm alerting the teams at the EMS depot to prepare the bus, they're informing me they need about 30 minutes to get there and set up, can we work without it for now, we might not even need it, the landing looked pretty smooth"

"All EMS, report to the grass area where the plane is.. Let's get everyone off those planes, once fire personnel that have medical certs are finished rescuing, please assist with Triage and Treatment. BREAK. RA-1, you'll be responsible for the most serious patients. Right now it's looking like our transport is what's here and the Ambo they are bringing over form the ARFF station, it's ALS. Focus on the Reds and Yellows if there are any, any greens should be fine, and FF?EMTs would be able to to get them once we have the 12 or so off the plane.. Any questions?" I say over the Radio as I pull up the grass in my supervisor truck.
*Stepping out I smell the smell of freshly skidded rubber and metal, as well as hear moans of pain and calls for help.. At least it's a response. Hopefully no one is too injured
I grab my ALS bag and head to Triage to take care of anyone looking Yellow or worse. *

"Fire, are we ready to do extrication?"
