Freeway assignment is pretty much any run that comes in on the freeway til they get a nature on it. Only MVA's will stay as a Freeway Assignment.

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
Engine/Ladder/Rescue service runs, are just as they sound, they are nonemergency runs to assist the public. On memorable Ladder service run I have heard when working was for Ladder 111 and the subject was fixing his roof when his ladder collasped down on him and he was stuck on the roof. An engine service run might be a broken pipe, or something along those lines.
Medic runs are most Township calls, such as if CFD takes a run for Blendon Township because all of Westerville is OOS and we're out, they'll call it a Township Medic Run. It can also mean a general ALS call that they don't have programed in to the CAD (Fiona), or it could mean a call that the caller/pt. wants kept under wraps. Those are the calls you'll hear, check the MDT for address and radio channel. So that it's not availible to everyone listening in.
You snoops!

Ah, I see. You guys sure get a lot of Chest pain and Difficulty breathing calls. I mean at least 75% of the ones I've heard have been that, with some Ill person and Seizures mixed in now and then.
I thought the RTS mod was a a bit off, giving you so many Cardio calls, but damn, it's right on the money

Here's one of our new ambulances:

(We just got another new one though, delivered about a month ago)
We run a two person crew. Paramedics either come out of a big EMS company that does ALS and BLS (MONOC), or comes out of one of the nearby hospital systems (Atlantic Paramedics)
Here is a MONOC Paramedic (The one on the right closest is the paramedics, I don't know if this is their old or new truck though, I'd have to see the front)

Can't find any good pictures of the Atlantic Medic trucks, but that's what we have^. We have a 2 person BLS, and we have 2 (sometimes 3) ALS trucks within 5 minutes of us.

This is what they use here, and in Norway in general.
There are other models, but that's the most common.
Here are two of the other common models, and a Doctors Response Car (the rearmost one, with "Lege" written in the rear window) from the Norwegian Air Ambulance service.

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
Yeah, it's set up pretty effectively. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind using vehicles that small, but I suspect it has to do with the places they need to go. Just like the fire engines.
Here is an example, though a very extreme one. In most cases a helicopter would be used to get to these places.
That's a Doctors Response Car in the old livery. Like I said that's an extreme example, but the roads and city streets here are small. And people in the cities park like morons.
This size of street you find on most major cities here.

I wouldn't want to drive on that.
The private service I work for just got some spirnters, and there is enough space for me to stand up in the back but I can't move in there. I would not want to work a code in the back, thats for sure.

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
Here's our two frontline ambulances. 2007 Freightliner Medic Masters with airhorns (they sound really awesome!). They're each staffed with 2 FF/PMs. They usually respond to fire emergencys too, with the tower and quint. On medicals, they usually respond either by themselves, with the quint, or with one of the two Paramedic Impalas. We also have a Ford, but it's usually in the other station and is rarely used, but sometimes it's put in Station 2 and takes the place of one of the Freightliners.

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
yeah most of our EMTs are FF's but we dont have a ton of fires so they really dont have a need for there turnout gear but they all have it and right up the hill we have a huge like 10 ambo private service so if we get a big fire we usually pull our crew entirely and have them come down for rehab and stuff.

The only difference between this truck and the old version, is that the old F-350 medics have a longer nose, and this one has a higher box, I can accutally stand up staright in the back, and the cab is a little bit larger, which makes it much more comfortable.

It was the Fire Station from the movie Ladder 49. The real World Engine 33's old station, but then Engine 33 moved in with another Truck and that station closed so they shut it down, but refurbished it for the filming of Ladder 49.

Well the reason it's so big is because it's a Fire-Rescue like our one ambo it probably has a smaller combi tool, depending on the area water and rope rescue stuff...road flares, cribbing, axes, and other general rescue stuff so they need more room

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
Yeah. Now it looks abandoned (And I believe it is). They put up no parking signs, took off Ladder 49's name plate above the left garage, took down all of the flags, and I think there used to be a house right next to the station on the right, but now it's just an empty space.
