House Fire

'Oh no, well you get them outta here, I'll take care of this one!'

*I crawl over to the injured firefighter and take off his golve. I check his pulse. 55. He's unconcious. I throw him over my shoulder and carry him out.*

*I run over to Davis as he carries the FF out.*

"Let's get him to the unit."

*I run out of the first room then move across thehallway just as I see Floan drop down the through the hole.

'Casey grab the line we are going downstairs.'

*I turn and walk out of the room making sure Casey and Nicholas make it out okay before I follow them down. I walk behind the line and see Davis coming out with a firefighter. Then I see Floan crawling with another vic. I turn to Nicholas.

'Nicholas help Floan with his vic.'

*I get behind casey and continue to the dining room. As we arrive I see the other downed firefighter. He is moving around, and leaning aginst the wall. His right arm is just dangling besides him clearly dislocated.

'Casey drop the line, we are going to help him out.'

*We crawl over to the vollie and I take ahold of his right side and help him crawl back to the line.

* I walk over to Floan.*
'Floan, you need some help with that vic?'

*I follow O'Reilly as I bring out the firefighter. He opens his eyes and looks at me and I feel his heart rate start to pick up. I make my way over to the ambulance and drop him off.*

'It's gonna be ok bud.'

*He nods and lies down on the stretcher.*

' Yea Nick, get him out of here I'll be right behind you. '

* I watch as Brondum helps the injured Firefighter to his feet and while in pain he hops out of the building. I muster up all the strength i have and eventually make it to my feet again. I walk slowly out of the building and over to the Engine. Slowly i take off my air tank and unbutton my turnout coat. I open my door and sit on the step. *

" Pump-11 Command to all Units on Scene I need an Accountability of your men now. I want to make sure NOBODY is still inside that building. BREAK Pump-11 to ladder 1 throw your stick up high enough to shoot a stream through the roof Nobody go back in there for now. "

((Im back))

After going inside with Chuck I stand next to him.
"Squad to Floan, we are accounted for"

'What are we gonna do Chuck?'

" Copy that Squad 1 we ar taking a Defensive stance on this fire as of now We can fight it from the outside until we know it isnt gonna collapse on us. BREAK....Jack get you and your man out of there NOW. BREAK All Pump-11 crew members check in Immediatly. "

After Davis drops the FF off, I pull a notepad out of my pocket and write down 'TVFD FF' and start checking vitals. His respirations are low, roughly 12 per minute. I jot it down, then go on. His pulse is on the slow end, around 60. I write it down, then check his BP. It's normal, 118/78. I note that on the notepad, then start checking him for injuries. I quickly find that he has a fractured leg and ankle. I pick up my shoulder mic.

"M5 to Floan, we're gonna need another medic, this guys needs a transport."

' ill grab the RIT bag, jansen come with me'

* just as i grab it i see the guys coming out the front of the building so i put the bag back*

" floan, ill check in with you"

* i grab my 2" line back up and start back on the BC corner of the building*

*Casey an I finally get the man out of the building after crawling through the entry way and onto the stoop.

'Okay Casey I got him from here, I want you to pull the line out, but DO NOT go back in.Then you and Nicholas will take the lone and I want you guys on DA corner. As soon as you are there radio to Floan you are out.'

*I walk the man over to M5 where I can see that O'Riely is busy.

"P-11 Anders to P-11 Floan, We have all men accouted for, we have a team on the DA corner with a 2" and Colwell and I may assist M5, Do you need any help?"

'Hey Angus, you want some help? I have an EMT and Medic not curently occupied.'

" Negative Jack im gonna be ok. Have Colwell grab the 2" line with Casey and continue External suppression. You go help M-5 I will get a second medic unit en route. BREAK COPA.....Pump-11 we have several victims at scene. Request additional PEMS unit or ERT Medic unit if available. "

*I look at Anders.*

"Get in, I'm transporting him to ETC."

*I go around to the driver's seat, mumbling about needing a damned partner.*

'Okay sounds good. Wait until I get clearence from Floan first.'

"P-11 Anders to P-11 Floan, I am leaving to scene for a medical transport with m5, copy"

*I get in and take a look at the problemed ankle and leg. I will deal with that after I get his vitals up. I start O2 on a non-rebreather mask and hook up a moniter. I watch as it shows his pulse is still low. I start in IV of Lactated Ringers and watch the moniter.

" Pump-11 copies Anders. BREAK Pump-11 to Medic-5 When you drop your patient off you are cleared to return to scene. Additional transports are required. "

* I sit on the step of the Engine drinking water and trying to gain my composure. *

*I whip off my mask. I hear to take my line to the D/A side of the house*

alright, let's go.

*i put my helmet on*

'Hey Jansen, why don't we take the back side? Let's get a line hooked up.'

"Squad 1 to P11, we're gonna take the back side of the house. Jansen and I are gonna get a line hooked up."

"davis go ahead and take the D/C corner of the building with a line"

*I walk out of the structure with the victim.*
'Where's the Medic units?!'
*I set the victim down on the sidewalk.*
'Floan, we need some medics here, his pulse is dropping fast!'

"M-2 Enroute to House Fire."
*I finish up my lunch and throw it in the trash can and jog out to the ambulance. I get in, and start it up and hit the master switch for the lights, switch the siren to wail and pull out onto the road driving towards the fire.

" Pump-11 copies Medic-2"

* I force myself to get up. I walk over to the back of hte engine and pull out the 2nd ALS bag. I walk overt to Brondum who is still with the injured FF. *

' Alright I got him Nick but stay here I will need some assistance with him Im not feeling good at all after that fall. '

'Okay Angus you are good to go'

"Anders copies"

*I look at the moniter and see he is pretty well stable now. I turn to his ankle where I get out a splint and start to stableoze that. I find it to be hard since his leg is also fractured.

* I walk over to the patient and kneel next to him. I unbuttom his turnout coatand take it off. *

' Nick grab me a No Neck C-Collar. '

* I grab a bag of Ringers and start a quick IV. I take a pair of scissors and cut his shirt off then attach the leads to the Cardiac Monitor. I also attach a Pulse Ox to his finger. Just then oi hear the sirens from the PEMS ambulance pulling up. *

' Good they can have him right now im not feeling so swell. '

* I get up and walk briskly over to the Engine, grab an o@ tank w/ mask and walk back to the patient. I kneel back down and put the mask on him. I open the o2 100% and sit down next to him. *

' Hold on dude, the medics are coming just hold on. '

*i climb down on to the turn table then on to the ground and grab my mic*
"Floan where do u want me?"

' Help this guy out here I have started him on 1 IV ringers W/ o2 but that fall shook me up can u take over here for me please. '

*I pull up on scene. I grab my radio, "M-2 On Scene, Where do you need me?"
I kill the siren and park the ambulance out of the way, and get out, run around back and grab my jump bag and wait for orders.

"copy."
*i drob my air pack and my jacket and lay them by the ladder grab some EMS gloves and head over to the PT*

"Matthews, we'll take the D/C corner."

*I pull my 1 3/4 line towards the house.*

*as soon as i neel down next to the guy the PEMS shows up and i turn the PT over to them and i walk over to Floan to check him out*

*I prepare to have some smoke inhalation patients and prepare some O2 Bottles and Non Re-breather Masks.

*I open the nozzle and let the water flow. It's hits the fire and smoke billows upward.*

* I walk over to the rear of the engine and sit back down. I see Bruce come up to me and I lift my head. *

' Hey Bruce, I dont know what happened I fell about 5-7 feet no More than that but im having a hell of a time catching my breath. I didnt fall onto anything and I didnt get knocked out but i sat down pretty hard after the fall and i lost my breath right then. '

* I unbutton my turnout coat and take it off. *

" Pump-11 command to matthews. You are in charge of Scene for now I am gonna get checked out. "

(Guess whos back from getting her houses butt kicked by Hurricane Irene lol. )

*I grab an airpack and run over to Floan*

'Anyone missing still?'

(Just gonna do a quick light post till I get caught up completely)

' No Jess Everybody's accounted for. I dont know how long that house will hold out for. there had to be some sort of Accelerant used. that floor just completly gave way in that room. the Vol. crew just dissapeared, when i went for 1 of them lol he took me with him. If you go back in check the Floor heaters, that may be a source but im not sure. '

'Alright, How much longer would you estimate on that house. From what I saw I'm not sure I'd want to send anyone inside unless we know theres someone in there'

*I get my pack ready anyway still debating if I'm gonna take a team in*

' hard to say but the crews have been putting a ton of water on it too. it seems that if it isnt out in a couple more minutes the only options are let it burn on internal attack. that wouldbe my guess. '

'At this point I'm thinking surround and drown is our safest and possibly the best option as well. I don't want to risk any firefighters in a building thats unstable. Especially if theres a posibility that an accelerant was used'

'alright im gunna hook you up to my moniter just in case if everything checks out ill let you here to rest'
*i run over to the ladder and grab my life pack 15 and head back over and place the leads on floan and turn the moniter on and watch the info come across the screen and every thing checks out ok*
'alright your good to go, just hang here and rest'

' got it thx Bruce. '

* I put my coat back on but I dont button it up yet. I stand back up and start walking over to the TVFD's Engine to get the Number off of it. *

" COPA......Pump-11 the TVFD Pumper crew has been hurt in a floor collapse. they are being treated and transported as we speak however their Engine will need to be driven back to their station. can you get a hold of their public works or their Fire dept. and have a rep drive it back to their station please. "

*I walk with Floan waiting for him to finish the radio call*

'So, what do you think? Surround and drown or do you wanna try a second interior attack?'

' Jess lets get this over with, I dont now how long it will hold for nor how long I'll hold for im pretty beaten up i guess but this needs to end. lets go in. '

" Pump-11 Command to matthews i'll re-assume command at this time. Can i have all Pump-11 crew members to the front of the House with 2 2" lines. we're gonna attempt 1 more interior attack. "

*I just smile and turn my air pack on*

'Lets do this. Do you wanna do one team in the front one in the back?'

' No. I dont want multiple teams in there in case there is a collapse. if you want to go in then by all means take my guys or your men in but only 1 team at a time so the other can be RIT. '

"Got it."

*I pick my mic up as I pull away.*

"M5 to COPA, we're transporting one to ETC code three."

*I flip the sirens on as we hit traffic.*

*I hear the communications over my radio as M5 leaves. I listen and hear there will be another interior attack. I turn back to the FF I see he is starting to wake up so I turn my attenion to the moniter where it is showing his pulse up around 90 which is an approvement.

'Well if thats the case, sit your @$$ down.'

*I smile at him to let him know Im just joking*

'I'll take them in. Who was in the first team?'

*I walk back over to the ladder and put my coat and air pack back on and head back over to jess.*
'Im ready when you are'

( i think colwell is still\ on scene with us)

" copy that floan, ill be coming around with one line, davis has the other line, i suggest you let myself and colwell take one line, let nicholas and davis take the other line, and jess, bruce, jansen, and yourself if you feel up to it and an EMT clears you can make up the RIT team"

'If your up to it Tim then grab a line and find a partner but I'll be leading you guys in this time, Bruce, Jansen and Floan You feel up to it take RIT'

*I head over to the Ladder and grab a pickhead axe before returning to Floan.*
'any objections John?'

" alright, jack has a line and i have a line so we're set, coming to the front"

* i shut my nozzle down and drag the line back to the front door of the house*
