Industrial Accident at TSD

*Call turned down automatically, units active*
*ERT Dispatch*

*I climb into the pump and read over the EAT. I tap under my seat making sure my bag are here. I watch as everyone else piles in.

( i think you're driving)

*I slide down the pole and jog to the rig. I jump into my boots, and up go my pants. I get in, while putting my suspenders up.*

'here we go again!

*I throw my coat over my seat, put my helmet on, and buckle up.*

*I head out the the truck and throw my gear in the back seat.*

'Lets roll boys'

*I get a pair of medical gloves out of the box and have them ready.*

((This is Med call so I can't. Are you still part of the pump until commisioned to the dive unit?))

*Casey gets into the drivers seat and everyone else piles in. He puts the pump into drive and we take off towards Trulit.

( floan and i discussed who the new driver was gonna be since you and colwell are both paramedics..but i guess if casey is active now he will be the driver, but officially you still were..whatever not my call)

* I walk over to the engine, throw my turnouts into the truck and climb aboard. I put my headset on anc close my door. *

' Ok guys clear to go. '

( Colwell until further. u are driver. we'll figure it out when we get back. )

" COPA.....Pump-11 Responding. "

( Remember u guys 3 posts minimum detailing our drive to the scene. NEVER do a leave the station and in the same post we arrive that is not good. )

*as we pull out of the station and frive down the complex road to the gates I open my window to take in the late morning breeze. I pull out some med gloves and slip them on as we pull through the gates and lights and sirens come on.

(Ok Floan)

'Hey Lt, you got assignments for us, or wait till we get there?'

*As Botfish starts the truck and heads for the scene I grab the radio mic and key up.*

"RA1 to P11 what do you have for us? We'll be there in 5-10"

"PC-7 to all units involved, will you need me to secure scene?"

I say as I start to drive towards Trulit on the Trulit Interpass. I drive past the ERT Complex, and towards the Waste Centre and the Trulit Sheriff's Office.

*I drive up to a red light and put the siren on yelp and blast the air horns and keep going to the sheriffs office*

" Pump-11 to PC-7 Negative this is at the Sheriff's office, im sure they can handle security. BREAK Pump-11 to RA-1 Unknown condition of patient we havent arrived on scene You can downgrade to code 2, We are still 2 minutes out. "

' Jack when we arrive you take control with me on this. the rest of you just back jack up on this. '

* As John speeds up I shake my head thinking how this may turn into a cluster with so much personell on scene. *

' Hey Jack. If we still continue the RA once we are on scene DO NOT let them take over the call once they arrive. your lead medic here. Their job is to back you up and transport I do not want you to get up and let them handle it Unless you are simply not capable of handling it Which i know you are. Cool? '

*I take the radio*

"10-4 P-11, Keep us updated"

*I turn off the lights and siren and drive to the scene*

(I'll wait for you guys to get there before we do)

* As John rounds the corner I can see the sheriff's office in the distance, I reach over and turn off the siren. I roll down my window to catch some of the breeze as we pull up on scene. I take off my headset and hang it up, then open my door, grab a portable radio and step out. *

" COPA, Pump-11 On scene, Continue RA in Code 2 for now. "

* There are several people gathered around the scene and a victim sitting up against a wall holding his left arm and sweating profusely. I look up and see a piece of slothing hanging from a ceiling where it was possibly torn off in his fall. I look over at Jack and laugh a bit. *

' Its all u son I'll grab the drug box if you wanna get the ALS bag. The rest of u some on over and check this out. '

*after hitting another intersection I finally turn the corner and see the The Pumper crew. I pull up in front of them and jump out. I open the back doors and get the stretcher and my first aid bag and bring it over to the victim and go back to the RA*

"COPA, RA-1 on scene"

*As I pull up to the scene and set the brake and chock the wheels and walk over with Floan and Jack.*

(I didn't know I was driving. Though it was after this call. Oh well Lol)

(colwell, did you get demoted, i swear you were a paramedic..and thats why it was hard to choose between you and jack as drivers..)

*I hop out and throw on some med gloves. I walk to the patient.*

(me) 'everybody back up please! thank you.

(me) 'Hi, I am Casey. I am a FF/EMT with the ERT. can you tell me what happened?

(pt) 'I fell from the roof of this building. My arm hurts real bad! I think it's broken!!!

(me) 'ok. is there anything else wrong?

(pt) 'no, I dont think so.

'hey guys we need an arm splint.

(from now on, I will try to get on at least once a day. )

(jacks lead medic...)

(Im just asking questions... it's not like I am giving him drugs or anything... Im sorry, I am in a pissy mood today.)

"PC-7 to Pumper-11, copy that, over."

I turn my car around, and head back towards the Interstate.

*I grab my ALS bag and jog over to the groaning Vic.

'Okay sir I will be your Lead Medic for now, can you tell me excatly where you hurt?

'My left Shoulder is F___ killing me.'

*I look over at his shoulder and can see it is dislocated as it hangs out of its socket. I can also see he has a few minor abrasions on his head. His shirt is tore and there are more abrasions on his abdominal region and on the proximal part of his arm. I go down to his legs and they seem to be fine. I go down to get a pulse with my fingers and get 127 BPM. He is breathing slightly difficult. I turn to Floan.

'Lets get a back board to immoblize him, then I will check the spine and Shoulder more carefully.'

*I go back and take out my BP cuff and stetescope. I listen for the mans as I inflate, then later deflate the cuff. 112/74

*I put on medical gloves and walk over to Anders.*

'What are his injurys?'

(No I've was EMT never a medic)

( Ok guys enough of the OOC chatter that is far too much. I will handle everything from here and make it very simple. Casey ur backing up Jack who is the lead on here after this call I want to have a PM meeting with u and Colwell. I need to figure out who is gonna do what now. Tim thanks for the help but i got it from here No hard feelings. )

* I kneel down next to the victim but across from Jack and watch as he works with the patient. *

' Jack how can I help u out. '

'If you want Lt. you can hold C-spine until we get him immobilized. I don't want any more SC trama after his fall. He has some minor abrasions on his upper bicep area on both arms. He has some superficial gashes on his abdominal area, they look fairly severe. I will start to dress those with Saline and gauze. You also might want to administer some morphine, your call how much.'

*I turn back to the man as I wait for a backboard and C-collar. I get out saline and gauze and begin dress the gashes in the mans abdomin to reduce infection risk before moving to the shoulder area.

' Alright I got the C-spine but neg on the Morphine we need him to tell us where the pain is. let the Hospital give it to him when they reset his shoulder. "

* I reach over and grab a NO-NECK C-Collar and ever so gently wrap his neck firm. I look back at jack who is waiting for the Backboard. *

*I see the C-collar go on and I move on from wraping the gashes on his abodmin. I check his arm and he yells out when I get to his shoulder and on to his collar bone.

'Sir does this hurt?'

*I start to apply some pressure to his shoulder and he yells back

'Yes you A__hole now stop it.'

*I stop feeling his shoulder and get out a splint. I set it at his shoulder and tighten it so he can't move his left arm.

'Do you need help with anything, or do you got it handeled?'

'Floan and I have everything for now, but if you could me a backboard that would be great.'

'Okay sir, how is your arm feeling?'

'Sh!tty as ever, do you have any asprin for my headache?'

'You have a headache? did you black out after you fell?'

'No, not that I can remember.'

' Austin, Now that he has complained of a headache and isnt sure if he blacked out. check with the crowd and see if anybody saw him fall and see if he hit his head or blacked out. '

*I walk over to the Ambulance and get the strecher out and take over by the patient.*

'Jack, Lt, Either one of you need something?'

' Yea John, Why dont u take over here for me I'll start the paperwork. '

* I stand up and let John in. I walk over to the Engine and grab my clipboard to start the paperwork for a Medical. *

'Got it!'

*I walk over to the ambulance, grab a backboard and walk back over*

'Here you guys go, I'm gonna checl with the crowd a second'

*I walk over to the people standing there*

'Hi, The patient is complaining of a headache. Does anyone know if he hit his head or blacked out?'

Person: Actually, he was laying motionless for about 10 seconds until we got there

'Really? Ok, thanks!'

*I walk back over to John and Jack*

'They actually said he was laying motionless for 10 seconds. So, possibly a concussion. We'll have to watch him'

'Ok Lt.'

*I take over for Floan holding C-spine.*

'Okay John lets move this guy on to the backboard quick, then I will attach an ECG to keep an eye on his HR. When you are ready give the count down.'

*I move to a position behind the man and get ready to lift him over to the backboard.

* I count down for the guys *

' 3,2,1 Lift. '

* John and Jack lift the patient to one side as i slide the backboard under him. I notice a slight trickle of blood from his ear as he gets put into position on the Backboard. I help strap his head, chest, legs and feet together. I look at him and get my pen light out. *

' Ok buddy I gotta check ur pupils. this will take just a second and wont hurt. '

* I shime my light across both of his eyes. His pupils are completly non reactive, dilated and Glassy. *

*I pull the stretcher over*

'Here you guys go!'

*I get out of the truck and head over to Floan.*

'Hey what do we got here Lt.?'

*I look the patient up and down. I see his arm in a splint and hear him complaining loudly about a headache.*

'Hey Cory, we have a Male roughly 35, he has a broken collar bone, dislocated shoulder and some deep gashed on his abdominal region. We suspect he has a concussion and John is checking that out Furnter now, We have bandage the gashes and tended to the shoulder. I think he is ready for transport. He has an ECG hoocked up to keep an eye out for any more signs of possible closed head truma.'

*I turn over to the Lt. after seeing him checking the man with his pen light.

'Concussion?'

* I motion for jack to come closer to me. *

' I say a concussion is the least of his concern, Dilated, Glassy unresponsive Pupils im surprised he is as Coherent as he is but it would explain the combativeness, I say brain injury. He needs to be transported Immediatly. '

' Cory he needs to be transported fast, you, Botfish and Anders get him ready to go. My team will follow up in the Engine. '

'Ok! Everone grab the backboard. Let's get him on the stretcher'

*I grab the backboard*

*I grab a handle and help Botfish pick up the backboard and put it on the streatcher. I then help wheel it to the RA and load it before climbing in myself.

'Okay I think I am riding with you guys this round.'

((I will probably not be on tonight after 4 godmod me and finish the call if you want.))

' Ok Austin do u guys have him ?. Im gonna see if we are needed on the Fire that just came up. '

*I help load the patient in the RA and turn to Floan.*

'We going Lt.?'

' Not sure yet John Lets in the meantime just start packing up and getting ready to head back to station. '

* I start checking the gear that is left and start to stow it back to its proper locationn. *

*I help Floan pick up all the equipment and stow it away.*

'Ok Lt, I think we are all back in service except for not having Jack.'
