Really? I hate when people go overboard. Maybe it's just coming from a city-like EMS and a paid fire department, but it just seems so unnecessary. It's like they care more about making their car look cool and being all "Yeah, I'm a firefighter. Hot right?" than actually being a firefighter.

In all honestly, depending on the dept. and his role it might not be over kill. If its a town where fire takes 15 min to get on scene, pd and ems 15-20 min, and he is first on scene on a county road accident at 1 am, its not bad to have all the lights especially since he problay dosen't use all of them when in route to a call.

Better to be overkill than underkill, Met Q-Cars I think used to, and still run, with wig-wags, grille lights, and a strobe beacon on the roof, nothing more, my nan nearly crashed into one when she drove me to school once, it came round the back of a double-decker bus, and it was fast.

I read the comments and he said it was also a demo car for special events and whelen too. I guess he bought so much that they wanted him to show it off haha

Haha no kidding! That is one cool car! All he needs is a Q siren and air horns and he has himself a fire truck! Oh wait...make sure he gets a little hose and axe, too. Seriously though, cool lookin car!

Had a fire yesterday about 4 or 5 in the morning. All occupants in the 2 family home made it out safely thanks to working smoke alarms. One occupant was taken to the hospital for some reason, and a firefighter was transported to a burn center after some molten metal or something got between his glove and jacket sleeve and burned his arm. He was taken to a nearby burn center.

Our department handled it ourselves with 4 engines, 2 ladders, and a squad. Only mutual aid was 3 engines and a ladder to cover us at fire headquarters, as well as a mutual aid coordinator both at the scene and at headquarters.

EDIT: Actually, I believe one engine from the cover assignment went to the scene for a FAST team.

i was reading and saw that yesterday was the start of a string of natural disasters that we will see until october 20th 2011 when the world will explode. And the guy predicted an earthquake and one actually did happen in iceland which triggered a volcanic eruption..now i dont really believe all of this but it is pretty creepy how he predicted the earthquake

Well I predicted an earthquake too. I said on January 1, 2011 that there will be at least 1 earthquake this year, and there have been more than hundreds. Where's all my credit and followers?

It's not creepy, there's hundreds of earthquakes a day, and only one happened, stop being so gullible, and stop finding coincidences.

ok jackson, i meant a notable earthquake of decent size, and mcgurie, he predicted it for that day, not for the whole year..and im not gulable jackson and what are you talking about finding coincidences.

Everyday someone is saying the world will happen or something crazy will happen. If 1 million people say there will be a huge earth on a different day for a million days, one is going to have to be right.

Well (Going off topic from the current topic of the off topic section lol), I wanted to go to Las Vegas when I turn 21. After a discover I made earlier today, f*** Vegas, I'm going to Boston. In the song "Going Out in Style" (Best song Ever):



They mention Going to McGreevy's for one final round. I found out where McGreevy's is, it's also the first sports bar in america, and where the Dropkick Murphys started. So I'm going there. lol. You guys probably don't understand how proud of myself I am for figuring that out.

You really love DKM. I heard that they play set at all private parties at McGreevy's. Your going to have to get one of the private spaces.

haha I love Boston, such a cool city. I always say that I'm staying in New Jersey forever, but if I ever decide to move out, it's going to be to San Diego or Boston.

lol I love the way some of our firefighter describes buildings. They just got dispatchted to a possbiel structure fire at a hair salon. And you guys know how they are supposed to say what kind of building? like "Educational Facility" or "Woodframe" or "Masonry". lol This place is combined stores and apartments so the firefighter was just:

"Engine 1 on scene, 4 story....(pause w/open mic)......building...(shorter pause w/ open mic)... smoke condition in the area."

Today has been a good day. Had two calls so far, and got to take part in the special olympics the sheriffs office held. We kept picking up deputies until we got a call. Never changes. People see flashing lights and don't move.

Haha, yeah. I've started to lose patience for people that don't move. I'm no longer shy with the air horn, and only on very special occasions will I use the PA to tell people to move.

We might even start having to do what this Engine 14 driver does in the beginning of the video. idk what he said, but it got the job done lol

Any of you guys get LA Noire? Just so you know, it's a new cop game that takes place in the 1940s. It's actually really cool, but there are some...umm...odd cases. It's cool though, I can't wait to get on the arson department!

Yup, I remember one call. We picked up an assault victim at the police station. His father was there and we told him he could follow the ambulance to the hospital just don't go through reds or anything, so we were driving to the hospital around noon on a Saturday (fairly busy roads) with our lights and sirens, and our patient's father is speeding to catch up with us and going through the reds and almost rear-ends us. So my partner stopped the ambulance in the right lane, sirens still going, and the driver just got out. I was in the back with the patient, and over the sound of traffic and the sirens, I just heard "ARE YOU SERIOUS? ARE F***ING SERIOUS?" and they guy is like "What I don't know how to get to the hospital?" "WELL FIGURE IT OUT. YOU CAN'T FOLLOW US THROUGH THE RED LIGHTS, OR STOP SIGNS, AND YOU HAVE TO GO THE SPEED LIMIT". Then my partner got back in, and continued to the hospital with the most aggressive (but safe) driving I have ever seen.

During that time, a cop got on the radio "Car-9 to EMS you alright?" because I guess he saw us stopped. So I reach up to the cab and got the radio and was like "Yeah, just meet us at the hospital."

anyone else's station have for lack of a better word "trophies" we grab something small off of every vehicle from any MVA's we get called from and hang them on a wall back home

Yeah, I beat LA Noire, it was fun. And we had to make a mom ride in the back with her daughter. Apparently she tried to accuse a medic of touching her before. All she did was stare at me. Figure I was going to be the next victim. Lucky for me I'm a basic so I drove. Haha

Just something I wanna tell you guys, so today my dad got a fire call. One of the firefighters also works for the town fire dept (Schererville). He got a call about a fire on Wren St., which is my street. My dad called my mom and she said, "Jarred, fire trucks just went by and dad said there's a fire on Wren." As it turns out, the dispatcher screwed up. The fire was on Ben St. on someother part of town, not Wren St!

Haha, talk about an oops moment. Today has been a great day. Had a call about 8 and that's it. This is the nice life. Even though starting at 10 till 6 am I don't get paid for being at work.
