High Level Rescue with fire

*Station Alarm*
"Ladder-1, Support Team, Station 1 Chief respond to8 Fort Basio Lane to a
5th floor platform rescue. Be advised fire has started on the
platform."

Issued at 1535h

*I turn off the siren and pull up on scene*
*I grab a hydrant wrench and undo the cap on the hydrant, get out a hose, hook it up, and wait for the pumper*
"Botfish to COPA, line is hooked up and ready to go"
(I am going to bed, feel free to God-mod me)

* depressed from not getting to watch Wipeout I step into my turnout pants and climb onto the truck and put on my headset *
" Ok Bruce im ready to go. '

((gotta wait to be cleard to respond))

*we arrive on scene and i hop out and get in my Harness and go around and set up all the out riggers. then i run back and put on a Air bottle. and wait for the clear to begin the rescue*

"S1C to COPA, I am onscene, Show me in command, we will call this Fort Basio IC. We have 4 men trapped and a fire going the men are trying to extinguish it with shirts. BREAK. Ladder 1 once you arrive onscene I need you guys to start putting the ladder up to rescue them and SV2 will supply you guys with water. The EMS on your rig plus RA-1 will deal with any injuries."

*walks over and talks to MP's*

"S1C to COPA, the fire is not to life threating at the moment. They have no clue on injuries. They were having routine training when this incident had occured. Accidental discharge of the flare gun before pointing it up in the air is the cause of the fire."

"Copy, Be advised, there is some very dry wood up there, this thing could go to hell any minute now, so lets speed up the rescue"

"Cheif you want me to begin rescue?"
*i move the ladder up and extend it twords the top of the plat form*

"Copy COPA. Ladder 1 you copy COPA? Affirmative, start the rescuing. Once they are rescued attack the platform and extinguish the fires. RA-1 will check for injuries."

*I walk to the back of my truck and watch the ladder pull up and start working*

* I jump out of the truck and begin to harness up, moving over to Bruce I assist with the Outriggers and watch him as he maneuvers the ladder into position. *
' Gotta Love being a trucker we get the High Rise Grabs, u ready to go? '

*once i get the ladder in place i start my accent to the top of the ladder, once at the top i find one laying on the ground uncontious and and one with a broken leg, one complaining of trouble breathing and the other with a burn on his arm.i look over and the fire is starting to spread*
"Beard to command im in the platform and have one non responsive, one broken bone, one trouble breathing, and one burn, were going to need more transports. also be advised fire is begining to spread"

(Guys, slow down, three people have posted and you've already established the patient status and are halfway to rescuing them... don't race)
"copy, RA-1, waht's your ETA?"

* Once at the top i begin a quick assessment of the victims with bruce and start doing a quick triage. *
' Bruce which one do u want to grab first? '

*I hear DC's traffic as we're pulling out of the complex. I reach down and grab the mic.*
"RA-1 to S1C and COPA we have a 3 min ETA to scene."
*I put the mic back and turn to Collins.*
'When we get there I want the Monitor, Drug Kit, and Airway Kit on the cot.'

'the uncontious guy well take him together'
*i move over to him and start my rapid assesment,were going to need a stokes baskit*
"Beard to the next unit up bring up a stokes baskit ASAP"

*I rgrab the mic as Doug pulls us up to the scene.*
"RA-1 on scene. BREAK RA-1 to HRES what is the condition of the unconscious?"
*I hop out and grab the cot with all the equpiment I asked for on it, and roll it towards the cheif's car.*
"RA-1 will be staging at S1C."

* While waiting for the next unit up I begn an assessment of the other victims, Looking at the one with the burn I ask him if he is ok to move on his own he responds that he is and I move on to the one who is having trouble Breathing and start taking Vitals. *

((we need to slow down))

'Hey Cory, you guys gonna need another transport unit?'

"Austin bring it to our truck."
*'My training pays off hehe.' I think to myself I look up and see smoke starting to become visible througght the windows. 'That's a lot of people in there. Should get someone on standby.' I think.*
"Ladder 1 to COPA, can we get BLS-1 on standby?"
"Jess, help Austin hook up then help with the search. Bruce, Jess is under your control for SAR."

"Copy, that BLS-1 on standby"

"Fort Basio IC to COPA, can you please also start us a PEMS transport unit code 3 and have them stage."

*After hearing the tone I pull my radio off my belt*

'BLS-1 copies'

*I then get in the truck, turn the key and wait for make sure Masto is ready. Once Masto's ready I pull out of the hospital parking lot and begin to procede to location, flipping on the lights and siren as I merge into traffic.*

*Once we arrive on scene I advise dispatch*

'BLS to dispatch: On scene staging'

*I then get out of the truck and put on my gloves, and look for Lieutenant Hannahan*

'LT where do you need us?'

(Is the PEMS really neccessary?)
"Copy, PEMS is due in 15 minutes"

'Chief we need atleast 2 ALS rigs additional, and send BLS-1 in with the ERDC. He can take care of the broken bone.'
(If I'm not mistaken Bruce is saying we have 4 pt. 2 two are yellow/red and 2 are yellow/green.)

"there'll be no need for SAR i just need a Stokes ASAP this guy is critical"
*i bend down and check the guys pulse i can barly feel it, i look at john.*
'This guy is critical'
"can we get a hose line and medical gear up here?"

*I exit the ambulance with a pair of gloves on and join dave who is talking ot Lt. Hannahan.

* Working on my secondary survey of the patient I notice also that he has definatly gone critical. '
' Yea i agree Bruce we definatly need him out of here now. ' * Keying up my portable *
' Ladder 1 Floan to Ladder 1 Command Eta on Stokes and ALS bag '
* I think to myself ( That ALS bag is something I probably should carry on every rescue now. )

I drive SV-2 up next to the ladder and grab a supply line to run to the hydrent. I hook it to the ladder and begin to jog back across the parade grounds to the hydrent that botfish has already opened. I attach the line after botfish cleans the hydrent out.
"Charge it" I say to Austin then turn back towards the ladder and yell "Charging!" as the line jumps up and fills with water. Austin and I make our way back to SV-2 to assist with rescue and supression.
'Command this is SV-2 we are flowing water to Ladder 1 and awaiting further instruction'

*After hearing that we are to take care of a stable patient with a broken nose. I say to Masto*

'We should take the jump bag, and take O2 just incase it's needed.'

'Probably should prepare of the possibility of having to transport two patients.'

((its his leg not his nose))
'we really need that bag, i need you to go get it john'

' Got it on my way down now brb '

* I begin to make my to the ladder and then down to retrieve the ALS bag. *
' Ladder 1 Floan to Ladder 1 Command im on my way down empty to retrieve the ALS bag. '

((my mistake, thought I read nose. I feel like a dipstick now.))

'Bruce can you advise which bone?'

(We actually should have 5 people in there..your missing one.)
"10-4 Bruce, sending up the stokes."
*I quickly look at Dave and Masto and reply to them.*
'Uhh, stage over with RA-1. Go next to them and make sure the rear doors is facing the ladder. Jess, get ready with your SCBA. you might be going inside for one more. Grab a hoseline and bring one.
*I jog over to the compartment in the rear and grab the stokes basket. I then run over to the stairs, climb it, then run up the ladder.*
'Alright, lets get him down. Lets slide him. Bruce, the EAT said five. Your missing a person in there.'

'Ill go get the jmp bag and meet ya back here'
*I jog back to the ambulance and grab the jump bag from the rear and make my way back to dave.

"BLS-1 crew, we're coming down, back up from near the ladder."
'Alright lets go.'
*After putting him on the stokes basket, I put my foot on the rail and 'swipe' my foot side to side to find a good grip. I take a handle on the stokes basket and get ready to go down.*

'BLS-1 Copies were standing by'

*I get the Non-rebeather mask attached to the O2 tank and prepare to turn it on*

* Looking up at Hannahan working the patient down with Bruce i wait at the bottom with the ALS bag for them to come down so we can all go back up again together. *

"thats a negative RA-1 needs to take the unconcious person, the broken bone will probably be last. and thatll be BLS 1s."
*i check the guy with a broken leg.*
"it apears to be a broken tibia"
'ima go look for the other person'
"floan i need you up here fast."
*i move over and start moving burning debreas out of the way*

' Ladder 1 Floan to Ladder 1 Beard copy that im on my way back up. '
* I throw the bag over my shoulder and begin the ascention to the rescue site again . *

(Don't ask for ASL-1, you won't get it, it's busy. Just FYI, also the scene is a platform, not a hut, remember that)

"What's the patient statuses? No one is updating the counts, so I'm stuck guessing"

'BLS-1 to Beard where is the patient with the broken bone?'

I look around in the mess of people, all I remember is the flare going off, and then i fell. I can barely breath, and there is bright lights everywhere. I try to stay awake, yet I can feel the consciouness drift away. Help me, Help me I say

*i see the hand of the last guy under the rubble. and i pull the vic out.*
'Floan i need you here ASAP.'
"COPA we have 4 vics still on the platform 1 critical and one semi critical and two non life threatining injurys."
'i need two EMTs too get the non critical PTs out.'
*I get the final vic out and begin to remove his clothing.*
((Please do not remove any vics from the tower with out my go ahead.))
((vic count 1 rescued and 4 still in tower))

'I got the stokes up there. You want me to bring down the critical first so RA-1 could get them?'
*I put my hands on the floor watining for Bruce to let me know.*
'Jess, nevermind on SAR, get another stokes and get up there with your SCBA.
*My heart races at the fact that my crew is in there but I'm not but I decide to stay down at ground level just in case they need me to get something. I grab another stokes basket and hand it to Jess.*
"Ladder 1 to RA-1, can we borrow another stokes basket?"
*I get my SCBA on but keep my mask on so as to not waste air.*

'Masto lets go ahead and get a sam splint to use, and get the cot ready'

'BLS-1 to Beard, were standing by. Advise when yall are enroute with low priority patients'

After seeing the call go out on my COPA terminal at home I run quickly to the master bedroom and put on my COPA gear. I clip my radio onto my belt and grab my phone. I walk downstairs, Kiss Rhiannon and get into my POV. I radio Burke and give him a heads up that I am coming. After radioing I start the car, flick the lights and siren on. I drive slowly out of my driveway and honk the horn and drive out dodging traffic. I finally get to the Complex and I jump out, lock the car, Then walk into COPA.

I wave to Burke as he look up because he sees the door open. I swipe my COPA card and enter the dispatch centre. I turn on my computers and while they boot I get a Red Bull. I open it and take a sip. I pull out my chair, Open the dispatch system and Grab the COPA Radio and say:

"All units status update please. COPA Dispatcher Mitch Daniels now second contact for this call." COPA out.

I relax and wait for the replies.

* I Reach Bruce and hand him the ALS bag. Looking over at the other Victims I see that with just the 2 of us up here it is gonna take a LONG time to triage, immobilize and transport these patients down to the RA. *
' Bruce we need another crew u here to assist dont ya think. '

"IC to all units onscene, I need an update on the patient status and the update on the fire. RA-1 will transport the critical patient, BLS-1 will transport the semi, PEMS unit enroute will evaluate and transport if needed the two non-life threatening patients."
