Motor Vehicle Crash - ERT STAFF - RED ALERT

*Over Fire emergency broadcast radios and PAs,*
"All units, report immediately to the intersection of Phoxlind and Trulit interpass. One of our units was just side swiped in a POV en route to a pick up for a hostage situation. Roll LFA, PFD will provide EMS units upon request. COPA unit reports of 3 victims, himself included."

*I roll out of the station and turn on the powercall.*
'Pumper 11 en route. our ETA will be 5 minutes.'
*I get onto the Trulit interpass and I, here and there, turn up the Q while cars get out of my way. I get to about 1/2 mile to the accident and see smoke rising in the distance. I get up to the federal warehouse and tie up the supply line to the hydrant. I speak in the mic of the headset: '
"Pumper 11 on scene."
*I'm going to connect the supply so imma need one of you guys to grab off a crosslay.' I park the pumper next to the accident, get out, put on my helmet and run 500 feet in the cold wind to the hydrant. I take the hydrant wrench off the Velcro and unwrap the supply line. I then flush the hydrant then attach the supply line. I open the hydrant and run back over with more sweat going down my brow and pull the tank to pump switch. I grab the irons and run over to the smoking car. I look over at Daniels and scream at him to hold on. I try to open the door but it won't budge.*

I stumble out of my POV, with tremendous pain in my arm. "Damn, my portable radio is broken. Wait I have one in the trunk, Don't I?" I run around to the trunk. The trunk is stuck... I grab a stick that is on that ground and break the glass. "Well, that worked!" I grab the spare radio and my turnouts. I put my turnouts on and clip the radio on. I also grab the first aid bag. With the help of a witness I manage to get a sling on my arm. "Thanks buddy".

"Alright every one get back at least 10ft. It's dangerous here. "That car is smoking too much..." I think to myself. "Are there any semi drivers here?" A fat man emerges from the crowd. "I am" He replies. "Alright, can you get me your fire extinguisher?" I yell. "Sure!" He yells aswell.

I run over to the car that swiped me. "Oh, Crap. It's alright guys we'll get you out." I walk away from the car and radio Burke. "Burke, their both pinned from the front. The engine is keeping them in. Their both critical, you might want to get Riles or Kaizer out here..." The semi driver runs over to me and hands me the extinguisher. "Thanks" He helps me pull the pin and I start spraying the engine area with the extinguisher, looking to get all the engine cracks and crevices. "Thanks for that" I say.

I grab the bag and start trying to treat the most injured one with one hand as best as I can.

"Can't, I need them at the hostage stand off, high potential of threats. I'll have PFD guys there in less than a minute.. Our guys aren't far out either!"

"Thanks Burke" I continue trying to stabilize them with a first aid kit....

*As i aproach the scene i see 2 vehicles into each other. i park the ladder at an angle next to the vehicles. i get out as the "Q" is winding down.
"ladder 1 on the scene 2 vehicle accident. with 2 pind we gunna need at least 2 ALS units and 1 BLS unit"
*i run around to the side of the ladder and grab cribbing and a set of irons i pop all the tires with the hallogan and set step blocks under the car. i run back to the ladder grabbing the cutters and the spreaders and setting them next to the car.*
'Matthews get the extracation box ASAP'
*i go ahead and take the spreaders and take the drivers door off so i can get to the driver who apears to be the most critical of the two.*
(does the city units have a MEDVAC?)

I jump out and get the cones to place starting 5oft from the ladder. I see bruce going over to the cars with extrication tools. I grab an extinqusher to put out any spot fires that might pop up "Is there any gas or oil leaks?" I yell to help prevent further injury.

((We won't need a medevac, I've got the MICU on load to the city trauama ward, will transport both if needed.))

"Thanks for the info Burke. I really need something more than a first aid kit for the stabilization of these patients! Burke when will I have something better than my First Aid Kit? Ladder one guys, keep getting the car ready for extraction. But don't extract, wait for the Squad."

I continue working on the two women.

"They should be around the corner, S-1 shouldn't be far out either"

'Awesome. I can do some real stabilization " I continue with the women... Until i smell Fuel. "Guys, I smell Fuel, can you check that out for me? Maybe try to find the source? Thanks!"

'Negative anders not that i can see. but i need get in here and hold C-spine on the driver. I need somone else to get C-Spine on the passenger'
*i check the vics pulse. very week. i apply i put him on O2 NRB 15 LPM and start doing a rapid assement while anders holds C-spine. theres a small laceration on his for head, i move down his chest theres a soft spot. probably a broken rib from the steering wheel, moving down to the rest of his body checking his legs and i see his jeans are blood soaked and theres blood pulsating from it. 'Oh god i think to my self weve got a broken femur'. i imediatly grab a trauma dressing and a turaquite and cut his pants then apply it.*
'I need a ram over here to get this dash outa the way!'
*off in the distance i hear the city medic sirens getting closer*

*i look down at the victems leg. hes loosing a lot of blood. i check his pulse again barly fesable.*
'if we dont get him outa here fast hes gone'
*i look around to see if theres anything that can be done to get him out faster. nothing hes pined good. I hear sirens growing louder, i look over my shoulder and the Citys medic unit is pulling up, as one of the medics walks up to me i say*
'man is it great to see you guys'
*the medic takes over PT care, i run back to the ladder and grab the bucket of kitty litter and throw it on the ground around the car to absorb the fluid.*

"Someone grab the apply-and-dry for the leaking gas before we do anyehing else, I would but I'mholding C spine" I yell hoping that we can get these to to the hospital soon. This is to much like what happened at home, way to close. I think to myself

"Hey Guys" I say to the City Meds.

"I have training and I can give you a hand with these patients. Alright I'll get them both spinally stabilized, ready for extraction and transport. But I need a C-Spine and 2 backboards. You can start getting BP and those things, then start with the wounds. Also, you guys have out MICU, so I'm going to get it rolling to this location. And remember I have a Possible broken arm, soo bear with me"

I start with stabilizing the Necks and Back with the proper equipment.

I pull up S-1 and shut off the siren, "Squad 1 on scene", I hop out and walk to Mitch, 'Which passenger needs to be extracted first?'

*I backup and put the irons down next to the pumper. I throw on my pants and put my SCBA on. I run to the back compartment with my mind running 10,000 different ways hoping nothing worse happens. I open the back compartment and pull out two backboards. I run up to the accident and still see smoke rising from the engine block.*
'Gotta open that up....'
*I run and get the KED out of the same compartment then close it. On my way over back to the accident, I pick up my irons again then run back over to the car. I drop the KED next to the City medics and once again, to make sure, try to open the door. It again won't budge.*
'Dammit. I need help opening this hood. Someone pull a line for me if Squad 1 is gonna use hurst tools to open those doors.
*I place the axe down and shove the fork end of the halligan into the hood, trying to pry it open at the lock. I push in and down but keep getting frustrated since smoke is pouring out in front of my face.*

*i pick up a white sheet and lay it over the PT then i grab the spreaders on the ground*
"hey squad 1 guys, you all want to take the passneger side and ladder 1 crew will take the drivers side."
*i take the spreaders and take the rear door off.*
'can somone take car of the front and rear windsheilds?'

"We'll do Beard" I grab the spreader and cutter and make them ready, 'Okay, who's gonna man the spreaders?'

" bruce ill take the windshields, make sure our patients are covered good"

* i grab the window cutters out of the crash kit and take the windows out*

"Alright Guys, I'm still stabilizing them, you can extract them soon. Someone take vitals for me while I stabilize them and fix their wounds."

I continue working to the two girls. I grab my radio, "Burke, can you get the MICU down here their both in a critical condition and need that care"

*I see the irons arent working and set them down and move over while Tim takes out the windows. Sweat starts rolling down my face shield and I start to smile. I quickly come to my senses then run and drag out a crosslay, charge it with foam because of gas or oil, then aim it at the engine block. I wait until Tim moves.*
'Watch out behind you Tim. The hose is charged.'
*The engine block starts to flame up slowly because of the cold and I spray to the side making sure the foam doesn't hit anyone. I get close to the engine block and put my hose nozzle close to the hood whilst spraying.*
'Careful, It's gonna get hot real soon!'
*I spray out the fire and spray down the engine to make sure it doesn't flame up again.*

((one of the city medics has the driver))
*after Matthews finishes with the windows i take the cutters and cut the door post, and the front and rear roof supports then wait for Squad 1s crew to take care of theirs*

((Guys read what I have said , you have not listened to me at all. Also, both are still in the car))

((i have been reading your posts i just stated that the city medic had taken over PT care of the driver to reduce confusion. so im a bit confused on how we have not listined to you. and i havent extracted any one we are just preping for the extracation by cutting the posts and removing the wind sheild. again if i did any thing rong please tell me.))

((Ok, not being mean or anything, we were waiting for the MICU. Then We were still stabilizing the women, when you were breaking windows and stuff like that, without covering the patient. Anyway It's done now so lets continue the call. ))

Bruce, Come over here I need help with this patients leg, It's bleeding badly. Can you put pressure on it, while I try to dress it? Here, put these gloves on."

I continue working on the most injured women.

*i grab the pair of gloves and start putting pressure on the PTs leg*

"Thanks Bruce!"

I keep helping Bruce with the patient.

'i cant wait for the medic class to start that would make this a lot easyer haha'
*i continue holding pressure until daniels gets the dressing on. i stand up and grab another sheet and place it over the passneger*

I grab my portable radio, "Burke, How far away is the Squad and the MICU. We need to get them out, and then move them as soon as they are extracted." I say and wait for a reply. "Thanks Bruce" I yell out to him."

I continue working on the patient, I grab and IV from the City Ambulance and Create a drip for the patient. I grab my Radio again, "Burke, I thought I heard on the Hostage Call that Kaizer was free, Maybe you could send him down here?"

"That's a negative, We need him on scene, protocols state we need him there. The MICU is just about 2 minutes out. We do not have EMS to spare. They're about 25-30 minutes out."

I grab my radio as I listen to the transmission carefully, "Rodger that Burke, MICU is two minutes out. Lets get this extraction going, where's the Squad?"

*I run over to Jansen.*

'Alright, I'm ready where you need me Jansen. Do you need me on the spreaders?'

((squads on scene))
'Daniels want my guys to take the roof?'
*i walk over and pick up the cutters*

((Ok, Because the squad people haven't done much on the call, Start Extraction.))

"Do it Bruce, Pass me a helmet and I'll be set!"

Bruce throws me a helmet and starts extraction Just as the ERT MICU, staffed by PEMS arrives blasting it's sirens.

"Guys, We're over here, I'm Mitch and I'm from the ERT I am not a firefighter, But I was one before coming to COPA. Alright get ready to transport them as soon as they are out. Got it?" I yell from the SUV.

"Sure, Mitch" They yell back.

I stay in the car trying to monitor both the women, Because I can't do much but observe their condition while Bruce Extracts because Of my broken Arm.

I grab my radio from my belt on the mangled car and Radio COPA, "Burke Extraction has started."

"Go Bruce" I say with my thumb in the air.

I radio back on the fly hoping my siren doesn't overpower the radio call... FInally a chance to use DC-2 on a call
"Copy that, lemme know once the MICU leaves."

'Matthews take the passenger side! anders peal it back!'
*i cut the final posts with the cutters and roll the roof off onto the ground*
'I need 2 KEDs quick! city guys got the driver we need to focus on the passneger.'
*i take a ked and unfold it placing it behind the passenger and bukleing it. i grab the back board and place it againts the PT*
'Alright on the count of three we move......1.......2......3!'

"Clear!"

"Alright Guys Get them ready for transport and get them out of here strait away. Permission to respond Light and Sirens to hospital.

We continue to get them Ready.

"Thanks Burke, Stay Safe out there. I'll return to COPA when I've been to the hospital to see off the patients and get my arm Fixed."

*now that weve got the PT on the back board get her straped down*
'ill got get a cot outa the MICU'
*i run to the MICU and get a cot outa the back and roll it over to the car*

"Go!"

*i come over with the cot and we lay the female vic on it and me and daniels rush her to the MICU.*
'alright lets go!'
*just as we get the PT in the MICU the city units finish extracting the driver. i grab the second cot outa the MICU and roll it over to the city guys to help them load the PT*

"Alright, They are both Out. I'll go get the Equipment, then they can leave"

As I walk over to the car to get the equipment out of the car, I explodes. Obviously the fuel ignited. I fly through the air and Hit my head hard on the asphalt.

'WOAH! Watch it guys! Pumper, put that out.'

*I run over to Mitch.*

'Hey, you alright?'

*i hear the explositon and dive behind the MICU. jump up and run to daniels.*
'You ok buddy?!?!?!?'
*i look around and see P-11s crew knocking back the fire. i sheild mitch with my body and cary him bihind the MICU*

I hear the calls over the radio for explosion. I mute it and read the origin, the scene. Shit.
"Guys, ensure mitch is okay, get him out of there now in an ambulance to our hospital. Thats an order. Clear the fire now. S-1 assist. Assume all orders under Fire OSC, I have to head out for a moment, got some business"
Which really means I could be gone forever. Hopefully my training should get me through unscathed

*i pick mitch up and put him in the citys Medic ambulance.*
'you guys get him to the ERT hospital stat!!!'
*i grab a cross lay off the ladder and charge it with CAFS and start to Foam the fire*

*I pick up my hose line and attack that fire with so much anger! (lol) I sweep the water side to side and get the engine block out.*
'Dammit!'
*I back up towards the pumper since the fuel is close to me and spray the fuel with foam and start to ease up closer. 'This shouldn't have happened...we put kitty litter on the damn thing. well at least the victims are out.' I think to myself. I stop attacking the engine area and start going for the inside. I spray the seats and dash (what's left of it) and take the key out of the ignition when the fire goes back enough. I then back up and kneel down to get a better shot at the fire.*
