Lucky Princess Fire (Triage and Police area)

This is the triage area for the boat fire area.
Please keep in touch with both topics.

(Follow same format as Phoxlind attacks. Keep a tally in OOC posting. Count in scene area, then when you drop them off here, count that as one added here and one taken away from scene area. Police won't be neccessary here, Port Authority has it on lock)

"RA1 to PEMS units continue Triage and report status to me as you get them. I need status assigned, Vitals, and LOC, also C-spine status."

'Austin go ahead adn start doing triage, grab the board from under the bench seat, its the START Tirage system.'

*I go back to the truck and grab the IC board from the truck. I get the PASS tags off of the PEMS IC board and put them on the RA's as well as putting our tags on the IC board and set them all under Triage. My radio clicks and I hear a frantic PEMS EMT, "Status code red, Vitals: HR 180, RR 30, B/P 50/P, LOC: Unresponsive." I look at my radio and see that M 3 PEMS sent that transmition.*

"EMS to PEMS M3 what is your loaction."

"In front of M 2"

"Copy EMS Command to any Paramedic please assist M3 EMT with code red pt."

*I get out of the truck and start setting up.*

"M5 ERT to RA1, we're on-scene."

*I walk over with my patient.*

'Hey guys, we got one. Red-unconcious and barely breathing.'

* I pull onto the docks, still silently cursing the awful traffic. I stop at the edge of the triage area and turn of the lights and engine. 'EDRC on scene.' I grab the Thomas pack and a portable radio, and make my way towards Hutchison. "Hey Hutch, long time no see. Do we know if there are any dangerous substances on fire? Or can we just worry about smoke inhalation and inhalation injuries?"

"Kaizer, did you get the MCU team alerted to get them out here?"

"Traffic 1 is with MCU, prepared to escort to scene." I look over to the bus and see a few hopital staff members filling it up with supplies as the team heads toward it. I hop out and help the team fill up the cabinets, then they start up the bus.

I get in and position my car at the front gate of the complex. As the buss pulls up, I cranks the lights and siren. "Traffic 1 advising EDRC, MCU is ETA 6 minutes." We pull into traffic and I fly up to the first intersection, running every light on my car as I block the cross traffic. As the bus passes, I ease off the brakes and cruise past, getting ready to block for the MCI.

I notice the last light we go through as we arrive is dark. "Traffic 1 is clearing on another dark signal." I hop out of the car after the bus passes and I run over to the light and reset the breaker. I hear COPA on the radio announcing "MCU on scene" over my radio and sigh relief as I pull clear.

"EMS Command to M5 bring me your tags and take over assisting with triage. BREAK to EDRC, your in charge of treatment section stop by the RA for your vest. BREAK to PEMS Medic 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6, youare now under Dr. Kaizer in Treatment section, grab your gear and assist him."

*I watch as the medic from medic 3 heads over to help is partner deal with the Tachycardic patient. I turn around and see Kaizer coming up behind me. I grab the Treatment vest and throw it to him.*

'I have not heard anything about any possible HazMat, but I'll check with Raven.'

"EMS Command to S1 Davis take your patient directly to the MCU for ALS care."

* I grab the vest and put it on. "Thanks mate, I have Treatment command." * I see the MCU arrive, and walk over to help set it up. After we're set up, I put on a hands free radio headset.
'All units, MCU is now open. Current capacity is 6 intensive care patients, 6 intermediate, and 6 walking.'

"Squad 1 to triage, we do not know the nature of any cargo at this time."

"10-4 RA1."

*I grab the triage tags and a portable.*

"Marshall, we're triage. Let's go."

*I walk over to RA1 and report in to Hutchison*

"We're ready."

"Note, MCU is not to be used as transport, but instead a temporary hospital for those who need it. Greens should only be taken in for treatment if no reds or yellows are in need. "

*I walk over to the MCU and hand my patient to the medics.*

'Severe smoke inhalation, unconcious. Red.'

*I head back to the ship.*

* I finally make my way out of the boat and stagger over to the Triage area, I look around for a person to help my with thie girl I brought out. I see the MCU bus and start making my way over to it. Exhausted from carrying the girl through the ship and across to the Triage area I finally let her go onto a table. I sit down on the ground and take my Air pack off and start rattling off the information about the girl as i know it to anybody who will listen. *

' I found this girl under a bed, I dont know her age. Her flesh came off on my hands from the fire as I pulled her out from under the bed, she has burns on her torso, legs, face and head, she has a faint pulse and is breathing but not that well. just take care of her u guys. '

* The man delivered by Davis is put in one of the ICU bunks, and put on high-flow humidified oxygen. EKG, BP and oximeter leads attached. He's also put on an IV. With a penlight I do a quick check for inhalation injuries. Satisfied that there aren't any such signs, and that his airways are secure, I glance at the monitor. CO sat levels of 47, otherwise stable. I make some notes on the chart next to the patient, and assign a medium transport priority.



Just as I finish Floan comes through the door, carrying a horribly burned girl. She is put on one of the ICU bunks. I unlock the bunk from the wall, and pull it on tracks to the middle of the floor, so that it serves as an operating table. I listen to the info Floan gives as I tear off my vest and jacket, and put on a clean gown and a pair of fresh gloves.

“Thanks Floan, good work, we’ll take it from here.” * I turn to one of the three trauma nurses in the bus. “Intubation tray please, and try to find somewhere to place an IV line.” * I intubate the patient, and put her on a respirator.

‘MCU to COPA, we have a critical burn patient here. If you could get me a Medevac chopper to transport her to a burn centre once she is stable, that would be much appreciated.’

"EMA Command to all EMS units I need an update on Triage and treatments. BREAK to ERT M2, Jamie. you're with Kaizer doing treatment."

*I put my mic down as see Kaizer over by the MCU. I head over to the MCU while I hear 6 other pt. statuses come over the radio all green. I key up the mic.*

"EMS Command copies 6 green pt."

*I get over by Kaizer.*

'Doc, Raven says no hazardous materials known.'

"A medevac is about half an hour or so out MCU"

*I bring my patients over to the MCU.*

'Hey guys, we have 1 more red and 7 greens. Red, injuries unknown. He was unconcious but still breating. Greens might have slight smoke inhalation, but nothing serious. A little oxygen will do them good.'

*I walk back to the squad to refill my air.*

(That makes...2 red, 29 unknown, 189 left, and I think P11 found 2 black in there somewhere.)

* I check breath sounds, then start removing the patients clothes and jewelry.
"Alright Cory. Looks like we'll be busy today." The nurse gives up on getting an IV in, and goes for the IO kit. I pause in the exposure and jot down some calculations on the patients chart. "Assuming that she has burns covering 60% of her body, and patient weight of 50kg, she will need...set infusion at 750ml per hour. Once you're done get the propofol ready." I tell the nurse before continuing cutting off burn clothes and dead, charred skin. The radio headset crackles to life with the message from COPA.
'Roger that COPA, thanks. MCU out.' I turn to the nurse team. "Alright team, we have a medevac chopper here in 30 minutes. Let's get her ready by then."

* I see Davis arriving with a patient. "Cory, mind getting him in one of the ICU bunks, high flow humidified oxygen, EKG, BP and oximeter."

*I stand up on the back bumper of RA1 and cup my hands around my mouth*

"Listen up! If you can walk, please line up here!"

*I point at a spot next to me, and most of the crowd, 25 or so people, mill over and form into a disorderly line.*

"Marshall, start triaging them. Most should be green."

*I notice one person staggering over to the line and head to intercept her. She collapses into my arms as I walk up to her.*

"Oh shit."

*I quickly feel for a pulse and find none. I quickly key up my radio.*

"M5 to RA1, I have a cardiac arrest at Triage and need a PM ASAP."

*Not wanting to waste time getting a BVM, I yank a CPR mask out of my pocket and begin CPR.*

"PEMS will be sending in additional resources shortly, full shift is being called in"

*I walk up with the maid.*

'Hey Kaizer, here's another one for you. Another red, she's unconcious. Breathing rates and pulse are normal though. Probably more smoke inhalation.'

*I walk back to the ship.*

(3 red, 2 black, 29 unknown, 7 green, 188 not found. Sorry forgot about my 7 greens I found.)

* The burn victim is now packaged and ready for transport. She is intubated, ventilated and on a propafol infusion along with the saline to keep her sedated for the trip. The distant chatter of a helicopter grows to a roar as it touches down. I hand over the chart to the flight nurse, and brief her and the paramedic before they take the patient away. I take of the gown and gloves, and put on a fresh pair, and help Davis put the new patient in one of the ICU bunks.

"Alright, thanks Davis. Don't forget to visit rehab to get checked out, don't want you to end up in here as well."

I examine the patient, finding no sign of inhalation injury. She is placed on high flow oxygen and put on monitors. I then recheck the vitals of the other two patients before I help the nurses clean and ready the ICU table the burn victim was on.

"EMS to ERT M5, Begin BLS care for the patient. BREAK EMS to Dr. Kaizer and any availible Treatment Medic, Cardiac Arrest at RA1."

*I look over and see a PEMS medic rush over to help Angus with his patient. I look back over to where Marshall is triaging the patients. I walk over t check on the operations and he tells me that there are 24 green and 1 red. I walkover to the board and chaulk them up on the green and the red side.*

(Sorry guys been out of town. I love it when I show up for work and my supervisor comes in and asks me why I there and not on way to evansville for a training officers meeting that would be going on for 2 days.

*I get the START vest out from under the seat then go to Cory*

'Where do you want me?' (I'm totally lost. LOL!)

*I turn and see botfish grabing the start Triage board and the Triage vest. I grab my mic and Key up.*

"EMS command to all EMS units EMT Botfish is now command of the triage section. All patient status report go to him and he will relay them to me."

*I put my mic down and look at the status board.*

(Hutchison-EMS command, Botfish-Triage Command, Dr. Kaizer-Treatment Command, EMS Coammand is also handling the Transport section at this time.)

* I walk into the Triage area dn set the little girl down in the green area. I kneel next to her. *

' Alright my dear u be good, these guy will take great care of you and your family. '

* I give her a wink and stand back up, I walk over to Hutchison to brief him on the girl. *

' Hey Cory, I just got her off the boat, she is i think 7 or so i didnt ask, Minor burns to her legs and feet, didnt take vitals however she is in no distress as far as I can see. '

* I give Cory a pat on the back and walk over to Kaizer. *

' ummm Hey doc about the girl from earlier, how and where is she?? '

*I listen to Floan's report and then look around to find someone to triage her then I remember 'Oh yeah, I put Austin in charge of that.' I grab my mic and key up.*

"EMS Command to Triage (Botfish), Floan just brought someone over to the green tarp minor burns over legs and feet. Can you get someone on that no vitals or assessment other than that, approx. 7 y/o."

'Thanks Floan, well get her triaged and taken care of. Oh and that other girl you brought by, she got Medflighted to ERT.'

* I reassess the patients in the ICU bunks. No changes besides lower CO sats on all.
"Yeah, she got medevaced by air. Not to ERT though, to the burn centre in the next county. 60% coverage, a lot of it 3rd degree, plus the inhalation injuries..." * I shrug. "It could go both ways. She was damn lucky to make it this far."
* I walk over to where the PEMS medics are working in the cardiac arrest. They've been at it for almost 10 minutes, patient in asystole. "Do one more round guys, then we call it." I say with a low voice. They complete the round of CPR and meds, still asystole. "Alright guys, you did what you could. Chances wouldn't have been good even if you did get the heart started again."

* I walk back over to Hutchison and Floan. "One more black tag. Wouldn't have made much difference if they managed to start the heart again. The mortality rate for smoke inhalation complicated by cardiac arrest is as close to 100% as you can get, even with treatment in a hyperbaric chamber."

* I nod my head and turn back towards my Engine and start walking. While im walking I look up and see Smoke and headers coming out of several points on the ship. I shake my head wondering how long this is gonna take to put out nad if the ship has the integrity to take all this. *

"10-4. BREAK This is triage. Is there any open medics at this moment?"

*I walk over to the little girl*

'Hi! What hurts?'

*She points to her leg*

'Oh let me see that. Don't worry you are gonna be ok'

"Triage to EMS command, the little girl has first degree burns unknown vitals. Waiting on an open medic"

"Got-it!"

'I'll be right back'

*I walk over to the RA and grab my first aid bag and walk back to the girl. I check her pulse and breathing and they are all fine*

'does it hurt to breath?'

girl: no

'Ok'

*I get out a wipe and clean the wound then wrap her leg in dressing. and tag her as green*

"Triage to EMS command, the little girl is tagged green with minor 1st degree burns. bringing her to non-emergency transport"

*I carry her to the transport and set her back down*

'Alright, they're all able to walk, green for the most part besides a little smoke inhalation.'

*I walk back towards the pumper.*

*I think about all the victims and shake my head*

*I get up as the medic calls the patient and then move around and triage the three yellows laying around. All have slight respiratory problems and some burns. I tag em and get PEMS to move em to Treatment, then continue with the rest of triage.*

'We've got a yellow, responsive but can't walk.'

*I hand him over to the medics and make my way back towards the ship.*

*I pull through crowds and port police to the rest of the EMS units*

COPA: "EMS-1's out"

EMS OPS: "EMS-1's out at the port. What are we doing?"

"I need a paramedic for backup"

"EMS Command to ERT Medic 1, Doug come over here, turn in your tags, and get your vest. You'll be transport command. BREAK EMS to Triage, I copy you need a medic, BREAK to Treatment do you copy direct?"

*I look over at the board as 4 more yellows are ut up and realize that all patients that are accounted for are triaged.*

"EMS Command to Triage all PEMS Medic Units are now under Dr. Kaizer in the Treatment section, BREAK to Treatment, you have PEMS Medics 3, 7-15 now under you. BREAK to ERT M5 you will stay under Botfish and cover triage of any more pt."

*Two PFD fire fighters walk over escorting two walking victims with oxygen tankes. They take the tanks off and set the victims down in the waiting area for greens.
