MVA Involving ERT Personnel

*I watch mitch weave through the traffic and get us on scene*

(it's been well over 12hrs i'm putting us on scene)

"R1 on scene"

*I step out of the truck and leave my jacket undone*
'Alright superman is on scene who needs life saving'

'Cress! Over here! I need to extract this driver!'

'Calm down i'm on my way'
*I Flip the switch and watch the scene lights flip up and power on then I head back to the back of the truck and pull out the hydro pump and move it over toward the car*
'Hey you wanna grab the combi tool and the blanket'

'BRB!'
*I run to the truc grab a blanket and the tool then run back*
'You set up the combi tool and i'll put the blanket on the vic'
*I unfold the blanket and layer over the victim'
'Sir this will shield you from any debris that might hit you so don't panic'
"Starting extrAction on possible DUI

(he's unconscious, weak vitals)

(He could have just closed his eyes?)

"RA 1 to COPA, hold us on the scene,"

*I get out of the truck, grab the collar bag and a back board and run over to the car that Botfish and Cressler are at.*

'What do we have here, guys?'

"RA1 to OSC, I need info on the other victim in the car. BREAK to COPA, has an EMS unit gone enroute on ths yet?"

(it was stated that he was unconcious...im the concious once)

(I checked him. Read my post on the first page. Possible head injury into windshield.)

'Once we get him out I need you to put him on the backboard for a possible spinal injury'

"Rescue 1 command to COPA, can we have an ETA on another EMS unit?"
*I get out of the truck and grab the struts to keep the car from moving. I run down the hill (it is a hill right?) and put the struts in place on the rear part of the car to keep it steady. I back up and grab a line brining just in case. I feel the slight breeze of the air and I watch hoping nothng like the last MVA happens again.*

"Unsure, I've asked for PEMS to send a unit to us, but we're kinda tied up, hold tight until then, I'm sure we have ample EMS on scene for the minor injuries. Treat as if it was triage, transport reds first, and hold yellows second. We've got RA-1 on scene for transport of beard when he's ready. There should be an ambulance there soon from us, and if not, PEMS. Keep your eyes peeled"
(Police, remember, the only medically trained one is libor, the rest of you are there for traffic. Not investigation, and not clearing the scene. Wait until the fire department leaves until you think of even opening more than the one lane copa allowed. Tows come after fire department leaves. You're there solely to direct traffic right now. We need two cops, and libor there, everyone else isn't needed, so don't hang around please. Also, I've gotten a report someone transported in a patrol car? If someone did, I want that person to leave this call now please and message me. That sums up what I need to say now. Oh and Probies on scene, remember, you don't make big decisions, such as calling for ANY additional units without your mentor's or OSC's permission)

(The reason for so many patrols is the second accident reported by RA-1. Thats clear now)

'Dave, you can head back on patrol. We should be good here now with all the traffic units.'

"Libor to Ledger, you can take over OIC."

(Understood, a little confusing to follow from here. Rule of thumb, for main road accidents, 2 plus supervisor, side roads, 1, death, three plus super. Secondary after a main road would be around fourish plus a super)

"RA1 to S1 Raven, What is beard's status . I am over with the unconscious patient right now. BREAK to COPA, if EMS doesn't get on scene before we have both beard and the other victim extricated, I'd like permission to take another medic and a driver and transport both in the same truck, one on the bench, on one the cot."

*I get a quick set of vitals while cressler helps with the extrication. HR: 170, RR 32 Shallow, B/P: 40/p, Lungs: Clear on the Right, absent on the left, Heart Tones: Normal. I reach in to my jump bag and grab the neddle decompression kit. I stick the neddle on top of the 3rd rib on the left side and hear a woosh of air.*

'Guys, lets get him out quick, the he had a tension.'

*I get on my reflector vest and go to the jaws compartment. I get them out and put them down. Then I connect the hydraulic hoses. I head back over to the squad and turn on the power for the jaws. Then I head over to Raven.*

'Alright man, jaws are all set and ready to go. Let's begin extrication on Beard's car.'

"COPA RA1 Unless one is in wonderful condition, and you have room to treat both, I'm denying that request. PEMS should have a uniti in five minutes"

"8 is back available enroute to TSD"

*I drive to the Truitt Sheriff's office*

*I walk inside and go to the radio room to talk to the radio operator*

After parking the truck in the fend off position, I turn the scene lights on, take the key out and press the Anit-Theft button. I put the keys in my turnout pants pocket and go get the chocks out of their locker. After setting the chocks under the wheels I walk over to Hannahan.

"What do you want me to do?"

'Well uh.'
*I start to ponder over what to tell Mitch to do since almost everything is done.*= I get an idea and spring into action.*
'Alright medicman, get your jumpbag out and I'll get the backboard and spine bag.'
*I jog to the back, glaring scene lights in my eyes, of the truck and open the ear compartment taking out the backboard and spine bag. I set the backboard back a few feet from Mon so he could have some room.*
'Alright Moon, how's that going for ya?'

'Ok Beard, it's all good, tell me if anything happens and it hurts or whatever, ok?' I say, not really waiting for an answer as I grab my radio "S1 Jackson to RA1, Beard has head pains, plus I think he has his leg stuck under the dash, haven't taken vitals yet, will do when we get him outta the car." I say as I grab the clipboard and write something else on it.

"RA1 to Jackson, have some one grab a collar and board out of the RA and put bruce on it. I have one who just had a tension and is still unconscious, so bruce will have to go with the other ambo. RA1 to COPA, what is the ETA on PEMS? My patient is in critical condition and bruce is in serious."

*While Im waiting for cressler to start cutting the car apart, I reach down and find a pedial pluse. I grab his arm and start 2 IVs a 16 ga and 14 ga, R and L AC, both on truama tubing flowing wide open. I put him on a NRB 15 lpm. I slip a c collar on him and slide in to take over c-spine.*

'Moon, any time now. I need to get this guy going to the ETC.'

"RA1 to OSC, I need a driver so I can load and go with my patient."

*I pace around the scene as I wait for Raven to help me with the jaws. I go over to Jackson and Bruce to see how he's trapped.*

'Oh no...his leg is under the dash and everything. Don't worry Bruce, we'll get you out soon.'

"Botfish to OSC, I can drive for Cory"

"S1 Jackson will get a backboard ready, out." I say into my radio as I see Davis pacing around. 'Hey Chuck! Can you grab me a Backboard and a C-Collar please.' I shout over to my fellow squad member as I doodle on the clipboard and check my helmet's secure in case any debris hits us from the road nearby. 'Bruce, you'll be out soon, don't worry.'

*I grab the combi tool from...botfish while reminding him*
'No you can't drive becuase i'm not driving your truck home when there is no one to drive that you don't solve 1 problem by making another'
*After I finish hooking up the combi tool I check the car in park, shut off, braces in position, victim covered*
'Okay hwere we go'
*I start clipping the front two support*
'Botfish hold this side'
*I walk over to the other side and clip the other front support*
'Hutch hold this side alright guy you know the drill i'm gonna clip the back support and you fold it backwards.'
*I start on hutchs side where I left off and clip the back support then I head over and get botfish's side.*
'Alright boy your good to go my jobs done'

"Forget that last trnsmission"
'Ok, let's get this guy out'
*I get the backboard ready*

*I hear Jackson and yell back.*

'Yeah, sure thing!'

*I head over to the squad and get out the backboard and C-Collar from the equipment cabinets. Then I take it over to Jackson and put it down.*

'Here ya go, bro.'

'Alright, great. He's ready to be taken out. You guys need any help or not cause we can clear if you don't.'
*I point towards the truck then notice I took out some med equipment. Hey Mitch, lets get that guy treated.*
"Rescue 1 to COPA, we have the unconscious male ready to be taken out of the car. Was PEMS requested yet?"

'Umm, I'm not sure. I'm waiting for Raven to help me with the jaws. Just hang around for a bit more, alright?'

"Alright, I like the name Medicman. LOL"

I walk over to the man and start treating him with Hannahan.

((sorry for staying away that long, been partying to much))

'Got it Raven' I grab an 1 3/4 hose and start cooling the engine

"We copy thanks."
*I hold C-spine as we carefully take him out and we put him on the ground.*
'I got C-spine. Lets get this guy ready to go by the time PEMS gets here.'

(Hannahan, you are talking about my guy. Not Beard right?)

"Where's beard guys?"

"S1 Jackson to COPA, Beard is in his vehicle, I'm watching him for Medical, the rest of the Squad are preparing to extract." I say, checking the Backboard and C-Collar and straps are all there for when they get him out.

After I've cooled the engine I put down the hose and grab a TIC, then I check the engine.
I't looks like it's cold.

"Jansen to Raven, the engine is cool, need any help?"

(Your guy Botfish not Beard.)
'Crap, I'm stuck doing c-spine again.' I think to myself. 'Good thing I have my pants on. Nice and comfy.'
*I hear another siren and assuming its PEMS, I think 'we gotta go.'*
'Moon, lets get him on this backboard and do this quick so we could get outta here.'

"PEMS should be only another minute or so, Has the RA left with Beard or are you waiting for PEMS to arrive as well before starting to send off patients?

(am i even out of the car yet?)

(idk squad has you were at the other driver)
'S1 you guys good over there? I can bring my jaws over if you need an extra hand'
*I put our generator on idle and make sure the car isn't leaking any fluids*

((I'm waiting for Raven to help with the jaws, but he's not on. Jansen and I will do it.))

*I head over to Jansen.*

'Yo, we gotta get him out of here. Let's get those jaws fired up and I need you to give me a hand.'

*I head over to the jaws, pick them up, and carry them to the car.*

'Alright, jaws are set. What should we start with? His foot's trapped under the dash.'

"We're willing to take the unconcious victim out first on whichever ambulance is available first that being PEMS."
*I mover my body around and bend down to check his respirations.*
'Hey Mitch, you check vitals yet? I got 10 for his respirations.'

As the PEMS ambulance comes into view, I pull out my flashlight and signal them toward me. I hold the traffic back to clear it toward the scene, opening the lane again once it arrives.

'let's try to push the dash back, I think that should do it. Are ya ready?'

I assist Davis with the jaws

"RA1 COPA, we have not lefft yet, we are waiting for our critical patient to be extricated so we can get a better idea of what is going on."

(Guys any medic can god mod me for today, I just got off a 24 and now have to go in and work a 12.)

'Alright Cory, take him out. Let's have PEMS take Bruce.'
*I hold his against my knee which I make sure is straight and I wipe my brow quickly then place my hand back on the head and hold myself still trying to go to my happy place but fail due to the loud noise.*

'Yeah Jansen. Let's get this door off first.'

'Moon, come here and put the c-collar and backboard under this guy so we could strap him down.'
*I look up at all of the pretty lights and as I feel the cool breeze softly hitting my face. I rearrange myself to make myself more comfortable and still. I sit straight up, sigh and check his respirations again.*
'Still 10 Mitch.'
