*As we pull out of the complex, I turn on teh Pa300 and set it to wail and start fluctuating the Q up for 3 second then down, then up for 4 second then down, then up for 5 seconds then down, then up a little, then down. I keep my foot on the pedal as we pass through streets and change the siren mode every 2 streets. I then give my crew instructions.*
' Alright guys, if its a confirmed fire, put on your masks and make sure all hallways are clear. Check the inside of some rooms as you're walking to make sure everyone is evacuated. Bruce, I want you to go to the electrical room since the heat may be coming from there. Mike, check the gym with Jessica. You guys got it? Ok.'
*As we pull up to the school, I see nothing and I have the PA300 set to Phaser. I turn it off and press the Q brake and talk into my mic to COPA.*
"Ladder 1 on scene. No smoke showing from the outside. Standby."
*I unclip my seatbelt, open my door cautiously and step out. I close the door behind me and start chekcing my stuff. I bring a four gas monitor with me just in case a different type of gas is in there. I put that in my pocket for now and grab the rabbit tool under my seat.*
'Alright guys, Chris, you're in first.'

    * As we pull out of the station I hear the siren going off and watch as ALMOST all the cars pull off to the side. *

' Ok guys when we pull up casey can you get us water from the stand pipes, Jack can you pull a 2" line and Galligano can you grab a Halligan and follow Jack and I in. Make sure you all have your SCBA's on. '

    * As we pull up to the school I notice the ladder truck already pulling up on scene. *

" COPA, Pumper 11 on scene Nothing showing, will investigate. BREAK Pump-11 to Ladder 1 we'll pull up in front of you and drag our line through the front. "

*I look at them and wave my hand toward me showing them they can move up.*
    'Alright guys, lets go.'
*I walk through the front door and go into the unlocked office door. I then look around and find a wall map showing where the gym is.*
'Looks like its in the back of the school.'
*I then go out of the office and radio to Pumper 11.*
"Ladder 1 to Pumper 11, the gym is in the back of the school so when you're ready, follow the hallway straight down, make a right, and you should see a sign saying gym."
*'At least that's what is looks like from that map.' I think to myself. I start my way down with my rabbit tool in one hand and my gas monitor in the other. I then look around cautiously wondering what's around me. I look through some glass small windows next to the doors so I could see inside of the classroom. As I make my way to the gym, I smell something but I don't know what.*
'Bruce, the electrical room should be down the hallway near the lunchroom.'

' ok lets take a look for the door Jack. '

    * I peek around the corner and see the door, to the right of the door it says Utility room, the door knob is red with heat and the door seems to have a whitish tint coming from Underneath it. *

' This is it guys Galligano, can you back up Anders on the line, i'll pop the door just be ready with a wide stream and check your ceiling integrity once its popped, stay down on 1 knee and to the side of the door DO NOT stand in front of it. '

" Pump-11 to all units contact With hot door at Utility room looks like 4 or so rooms away from the gym entrance Attempting to pop door now. "

    * I feel the door top, middle and Bottom all sides are Hot, I take the Pike end of the Halligan and stick it between the Knob and the wall and pop the knob off, I keep to the side of the door so as not to stay in the flash range, once the doorknob is off the door doesnt blow open but instead stays put, I take the Halligan and forcibly pop the door the Fire shows itself at that point and is coming from the furnace and is already running the ceiling in the Utility Room only. *

' Jack hit it, get the ceiling then work your way around the room '

" Pump-11 to all units Contact Contact with fire Utility room, its well involved and running the ceiling Pump-11 beginning supression now. "

*I open up the Nozzel to Shield as I enter the room in a squat. When I am as sure as I can be there wont

be a flash I twist the nozzel and bring it to an attack pattern and hit the ceiling. The fire dwindles but

a flair up happens near the furnace, I hit and it dies down. I go back to the ceiling and watch the flames

begin to receed. I yell over my shoulder to Galligano:

'Tell Lt. to get someone to cut Gas to the furnace!'

    * I look at the ceiling and i can tell the sheetrock is getting heavy and it starts to sag a little. I walk over to jack and tap him on the shoulder. *

' Jack, back out of the room to the entrance, then take your stream and make it into a jet, aim it at the ceiling and shoot a hole into it so the pressure of all the water will release a little. Galligano can you go back to the Pumper and grab a Pike, we need to bring this ceiling down in this room before it falls down. '

    * I look back at jack who is stil hitting the ceiling, I take my mask off since there is not enough smoke for it now. *

' Remember jack dont go back in the room until we're ready to bring the ceiling down. we need to have control on when it comes down not the fire. '

    * I continue to stay behind Jack on 1 knee to support him on the line and wait for Galligano to return. *

    * Galligano returns with a Pike as Anders continues to spray the room down. *

' Jack stop spraying but stand by for now once this ceiling is down anything could be behind there. Galligano go ahead and bring it down before it falls down, Jack be at the ready with water. '

    * Galligano steps forward into the room and sticks the pike through the ceiling and steps back as he pulls the ceiling down, it comes down in wet mushy pieces he Keeps sticking through and pulling more down. the Last piece comes off and smoke and embers are coming from the insulation. *

' Jack hit that just for a second '

" Pump-11 to Ladder 1 ceiling is down and no further signs of fire in this room, your additional firefighter is not needed, I have 1 man headed to your area in case you need additional suppression should you find fire there. BREAK Pump-11 to HT-11 what is your status and location. "

    * I start to step through the insulation and pieces of ceiling and look up to the Ceiling joists and see they are all black and charred. I take my cover off and my Nomex off then ut my cover back on and start sifting through the pieces for any signs of loose embers. *

' Ok u guys we can start a little overhaul in this room and see if Hannahan's crew needs help. '

*I hold my line as Lt. Floan and Galligano sift through the debris. The insulation embers when poked but quickly die in the air. I check my air and see its still good at 3/4ths. I see Hannahan comming up the hallway and Jess with a pike pole from the other.

' Alright guys Fire is out in thie room, lets start walking through the other rooms and make sure there isnt anythng else to be concerned with. '

" Pump-11 to HT-11 can you take your line outside then meet us in the utility room with the TIC i want to double check everything. BREAK COPA this is Pump-11 Fire is out in the furnace room, at this time no other walls are hot or warm, we are starting our secondary investigation and sweep of the building. "

    * I start walking out of the furnace room and down the hall, checking for walls that are warm but find nothing all the way to the Gym, I unbutton my turnout coat and take my SCBA off my shoulder and put it next to the entrance to the building. and go back in to continue with tear-out and overhaul. *

    * I pull the sheetrock and insulation off the walls leaving nothing but bare studs and electrical wiring, the furnace is completly black and white with burn residue and soot surrounds the room. *

"Ladder 1 copies Pumper 11. Mike, head to rehab too since Jess and Chris did."
*I walk over to Bruce looking around trying to make sure that everything is alright with the walls. I feel them with my bare hand and feel that they're cool. I then see the smoke easing its way out of the open windows and I watch the overhaul scene.*

    * I start to walk around and place some water on everybody's seat. On Lt Hannahan's seat I place a redbull and on Lt. Floan's seat i place an AMP ( I know its his favorite. ) then go back to the ambulance and take my helmet off and hang it to the right of my seat. I begin to notice the firemen coming out of the building and looking a little haggard. *

    * I walk out of the building with my men and pick up my SCBA. We begin to walk over to the Pumper and looking to my right I start to notice a flash, then a bright light. *

' Oh hell no its the news. '
    * I say to Jack and Galligano as we walk past them and over to our truck to drop our gear off. I open my door and put my turnout coat on the floor below my seat and notice there is an AMP waiting there for me. I walk over to Jamie who is sitting on step of the side door of her ambulance. *

' Thanks girl, ur starting to know me too well lolol. '
Jamie: Your face is all black in spots, looks like ur spreading shoe polish on ur face like those baseball players do '
Me: lol yea i cant stand wearing my mask in a fire that size just seems like im wasting air lol. I'll live though. thanks for the AMP though I owe you one. '

    * I wink and give a smile and walk back to the truck to help roll hoses. *

' Alrighty u guys lets get these lines rolled up and start heading out of here. '

    'Alright guys, we're done here.'
*I come out behind Floan and put the pike pole and the rest of the tools away. I take off my SCBA and look at the red bull in my seat for a minute. I then turn my back to it and point back at it with a weird face. I then think of Jaime and go over to her. I go for rehab.*
'Hey Jaime, thanks for the red bull. Can you check me out eh? I wanna get away from these news guys.'

    * I walk over to the Ladder and put a Bottle of Ginko Boloba on Hannahan's seat and walk back to my truck, I notice Van Der Water loading the hoses onto the back of the truck with Galligano and Anders. I walk over to my door and sit down in my seat and log our status onto the Laptop to the left of my seat then jump back out and walk back to the rear of my truck and start helping load te hoses. *

' Good job in there guys, nice job with detection and fighting of it. After thislets go to the Grocery store, gotta pick up some things for dinner tonight. '
