Boat Fire

"PFD is reporting that they are working the lower two levels with PPA, we've got the deck and top cargo bay"

I see Tim leave us and John take the nozzel. Then I hear another explosion and hear of Raven's injury over the radio. "BREATH Hannahan are you going to command from here? BREATH or do you want to go back down and assume command? BREATH" I say I wonder how stable this top deck really is with the fire burning below us.

(It shouldn't collapse because then it'd be a mass casualty of our men, and I'd have to shut down a whole staiton almost!)

"Update on injuries"

"Ladder 1 to COPA, we have one of ours injured. LFO Raven was burned....standby."
*I move away so I could handle my mic better and get behind Tim.*
'Tim take the nozzle now.'
"He's at RA-1 now getting treated. We still have our RIT set up and we are battling the fire here. We have two teams from ladder one set up. One at the far right and one at the far left. A couple of explosions were reported but other than that, everyone's safe. Do you copy that info COPA?"

*I look up as I see a firework go off, and firefighters making their way off the boat*

'This can't be good, guys.' I say to my crew

*I see Florian and Raven coming, Raven with burns to his face. I motion for them to come around back. I open up the burn kit as Florian puts a damp cloth over Raven's burns. I pour some cool water onto a cloth, and place it over Raven's burns after he lays down on the stretcher. I look at the burns to his face*

RAVEN
'Raven, are you having any difficulty breathing?'

((CORY))
'Cory, get a some of the burn cream ready.'
* As I hold a damp, cool cloth on his face, I reach into my pocket, and fish out a roll of gauze and tape.*

((Florian))
'What happened Florian? was it that explosion a saw a minute ago?'

((COPA))
"Rescue 1 to COPA, update on Raven. He's got burns to his hands and part of his face, they are being treated at this time. Mechanism of injury is unknown a this time, possibly from firework explosion, standby for confirmation."

*I start advancing on the side of the ship and all of a sudden part of the floor gives way. I fall 4 feet to the top of a container stack in the main cargo hold 3 containers high.*
"Maday, Maday, Maday, firefighter down, I have fallen through the deck, i think i broke my leg on impact, i cant get down, need RIT."
'So much for not getting in a jam today.'

*i hear the call for the RIT*
'God Damn it! Jess lets go! Fast!.'
"Beard to command, RIT had been activated we are moving in for rescue attempt."
'F*ck the stokes baskit Jess get a set of irons and lets go!'
*i get my tools a make a fast move for the deck*

"Understood, RIT move in, units be advised, deck is deemed unsafe, issuing pull off orders to all areas of the deck."

*I hear Bruce respond to my maday and activate my pass device to make it easier to find me.*

*I see Jess and Bruce gear up and enter the boat *
' ladder 1 Floan to ladder 1 HRES let me know where you need deck Gun support at fire is engulfing the boat as we speak and small explosions can be heard and seen around the bow of the ship, advise caution around the Bow. '
* I quickly cover their entrance with the deck gun and knock down and flames that obstruct them from having a clear path into the boat. *

I hear the Mayday call on the radio then Burke issue the evac warning. "Alright Hannahan thats our call to leave, I need air anyway" My hud display in my mask begins to beep giving me the 10 minute warning, at five my alarm will sound with a beep.

"i need a wide fog directly over the fallen FF"
'common Jess!'
*i use the pack tracker to find Jack, once over him i yell to jess*
'ancor me to this light pole jess'
*once im ancored i hook into the line and lower my self down to jack*
'alright buddy, ima clip you in here. do you have any neck or back pain?'
*i reach over and turn off his pass device so i can talk to him easyer*

'Great.' I say sarcastically as I hear the Mayday and Evacuation signal.

((COPA))
"Rescue 1 to COPA, see if us or Phoxlind has an available ALS for the mayday and send them down here".

((Hannahan or whoever is Command))
"Rescue 1 to Command. When you get a chance, please confirm that all units have Par."

'No no neck or back pain, pretty shure my leg is messed up though, and please get me out of here.'

"PEMS is enroute to scene, supplying an ALS transport"
I check over my lists again to make sure everyone s up to date on everything, yep it looks that way

*I tug on the line with one hand and speak intot he mic using my other hand.*
"All personnel, all personnel, make your way off of the boat now. The boat is now deemed unstable. Get off of the boat."
*I put my mic back and my pack starts beeping also. I grab the line quickly with my other hand and stand up but bend down to get off of the boat quicker. 'Bump, bump, to the pump.' I say in my head as I feel the two bumps that take me back towards the rear boardwalk.*
"10-4 Rescue 1, we copy. All units, report to the ladder for SCBA swap and accountability check. COPA, can we get BLS-1 here for rehab since RA-1 might be a bit tied up here over."
*I finally get off of the boardwalk and back at ladder one. I take off my SCBA and shut it off as well as my mask. I put it down, go over to the RA and get a pack of their waters.*
'Do you mind if I take this? Thanks.'
*I bring the waters to the ladder and set them up there.*
"Bruce,Jessica, what's your status on the Rescue?"
*I wait anxiously for their reply.*

'thats good, alright well have you out in a jiff'
*i look down and see his foot has been stuck in the floor, i take the head of my axe and beat a bigger hole and free his leg*
'alright Jess get ready!'
*as were hoisted out i hold on to jack.*
'alright ima help you hoble out'
*i make my way off the ship while assiting Jack. and Jess follows behind with all the suplys.*
'alright wheres the damn ambulance'
"were out Hannahan"

"Ladder-1 command, take the empty SCBAs and bring them to Support 2, they'll recharge them on scene. SV2 personnel report to your truck for charging"

*I hobble off the boat*
'Any place i can sit down till the bus gets here?'

"Ladder one copies. Can I get a radio-in from all units? COPA, did you copy the request for BLS-1?"
'Whew, that was a tough one.' I say still shaking a bit from nervousness.*
*BA tank and sling it over my back bringing it over to SV2. I bring it to the back of SV-2, open the trunk and I see that I'm not sure how to use some of their stuff so I leave it be. I walk around and see Bruce and Jess with Lueckenbach in their arms. I walk over to them and help them with Jack.*
'How you feelin?'

'yeah sit on the ladder and ill get to work slinting that leg.'
*i sit Jack down and go get my medic bags.*
'alright this is gunna hurt a bit'
*as i splint his leg i hear the PEMS ambulance comming in*
'alright bud your ride is here'

'Personally fine, just glad that i made it out of there alive, but my leg hurts like a bi*ch.'

'Raven, is the pain starting to ease a bit, or is it still as bad as it was earlier? Give me your pain on a scale of 1-10.'

* I grab a water and quickly make my way back to SV-2. I see Lt. Hannahan standing at the tailgate so I slide my airpack off and un ravel the hose. Good thing I refilled this before we came I think to myself. "Alright let me see your tank and we can get this goin'" I screw the adapter up to my tanks and the other hose to Hannahan's tank. "Alright give me five minutes" I flip the pressure switch and the air begins to flow. I take a drink from my water that is red from the lights of the truck and the flames from the fire.

'Alright. No one's going back on their so you can kinda take your time.'
*I see Floan spraying the fire through the ladder's deck gun and I look around and see all of the people from PPA and PFD rehabing at the other units there. I grab my radio and speak into it with a soft but firm voice.*
"Let's get someone on the Pumper's and Squad's deck gun."

* driving down the road I get the message from COPA and contact RA-1 *
' ALS-1 to RA-1, we are available and have been cleared to respond if you still need us, Be advised you have BLS-1 responding Code 2 to your location. Please adivse over. '

"Basic 1 is on scene"

*I say as I step out of the truck*

"Basic 1 to On scene command"

"Where are we needed?"

"Hey Lt., why don't we get some 2 1/2s and some deluge guns? We can hook one up to the pumper, start drafting with the squad and put one on there too, that would give us 3 deck guns, 2 deluge guns and then hand lines." I say as the tanks click and I know they are done. "Here you go Lt." I say unscrewing the bottle and screwing it back in his pack.

((ALS-1))
"Rescue 1 to ALS, negative at this time. Remain on standby though."

'Cory, I think this has been enough time with the soaking of the burn'

'Raven, how are the burns feeling now? You still breathing alright?'

*I get a dry cloth and start gently patting the burned, now soaked areas to dry them. Cory and I apply a burn dressing to the burned areas, then I wrap them a few times in gauze, and tape the ends down.*

((BLS-1))
"Rescue to BLS-1, unless command tells you otherwise, start rehab. We're going to be transporting momentarily"

*I attach the wires to the EKG, and stick them on Raven's body. I monitor the EKG for a moment. I get a non-rebreather mask out of a cabinet, and attach it to an oxygen discharge. I turn on the oxygen, twist the knob to start the flow, then hold my thumb over the flap to let the bag inflate. Once inflated, I put it on Raven's face*

'Let's start a IV of lactated Ringer's Solution' I say to Cory

*I hang the bag on the ceiling of the ambulance, run the tube down, and stick the needle into Raven's arm, then start the flow.*

'Alright, let's get ready to transport.'

*I push the button on my radio*

((COPA/COMMAND))
"Rescue 1 to COPA and Command, we will be transporting shortly."

"Better," I say "But I still feel like I got bitch slapped to the face by my pimp."

"Alright, well, we'll be on our way to the hospital."

*I get the amublnace keys out of my pocket and trhow them to Dean*

'You know the way.'

*Dean gets out and get into the cab, as we start to pull away, I pick up the mic from one of teh radios in the back*

"Rescue 1, transporting 1 firefighter to ERT hospital."

((VICTIMS: ONE FF TRANSPORTED))

"S1C to IC, Can I receive an update on this call?"

((Sorry that I have not responded, had/have a fever))

As I see RA1 leaving with Ewan, I grab my radio.

"Jansen to Hannahan, Raven is transported, where am I needed? And who's in charge of the Squad?"

"Davis will be in charge of the Squad, I will be next in command, and S1C will have his usual duties as IC. Copy? I want you to help set up some deluge guns. Grab some 2 1/2's, hook 'em up and spray onto the boat. Preferably towards the rear and front of the boat."
*As I finish talking, another explosion is heard but not as big as before.*
"Ladder one to COPA, we have another explosions over here. Everyone's fine though."
*I keep drinking my water waiting for my bottle to be fully refilled.*

"Basic 1 Copies"

*I say as I open the back doors*

'Hey Richardson lets go ahead and get the stuff ready to do vitals'

"10-4 Ladder 1 Command"
*I run back over to our truck and put on my SCBA then run over to the Pumper and grab a hose then run over to the catwalk then to the front of the ship*
"This is Botfish, I am in place on the bow of the boat"

"Are you on the boat Austin? If so, get off of the boat now!"
*I say in a firm tone getting my tone up making sure he hears my somewhat angry voice.*

'Copy Hannahan'

I run over to the squad and get 2 2 1/2 lines and hook them up, the I start spraying on the boat.
Then I see another small explosion. 'Jansen to Hannhan, I'm in position, there was another small explosion'

"Uh... Roger that!"
*I quickly crawl along the boat once i'm off I go and connect the hose to the pumper and get on the deck gun*
"Botfish to Ladder 1 command, I am on the deck gun and awaiting orders"

"Alright Austin, start extinguishing any visible fires. I know you may not be able to see it but try to find a fire and start putting it out. Jansen, I copy. Start extinguishing the fire from where you are."
*I go over to the ladder motioning to Floan to go over to Rehab.*
'Floan, come down. I want you to go to BLS-1 for Rehab k?'
*I get my refilled bottle from SV-2 and put it on as well as my mask, start air flow, and begin my ascent up the ladder. I climb up and report what I see.*
"Ladder one to COPA, can we get some fire boats here if we have some?"

'Copy Hannhan, my SCBA are half full, I'll update when I need a new one'

I continue extinguishing the fire

*I turn on the deck gun and start spraying the fire where the barrels exploded*
"Botfish to all FD crews, I am using the deck gun and have started extuingishing any visible fires"

"COPA to scene, I want reports of everyone's locations and actions iummediately please"

"Ladder 1 command to COPA, I'm overlooking the boat fire on the ladder at the time. I'm preparing to hook a 2 1/2 deck gun on the top of the ladder for extra suppression. "All units, report in to COPA."
*I see that the ship looking like it was sank by a destroyer so I slolwy and carefully walk back down the extended ladder, take a line, bring it back over to the ladder, shut off water flow to it and set it down. I then open up the drivers side first compartment and grab out an adapter and an extra deck gun hookup from the comaprtment next to the ladder on top. I reach for the line, grab it, take the nozzle off of the line, attach the adapter, and tighten it up charging the line again shortly after. I walk around to the back of the ladder passing John Floan. I then remind him to go to rehab.*
'John, I want you to go to rehab ok?'
*I take a look at his SCBA tank meter and its pretty low.*
'Your tank is getting low man.'
*I continue up the ladder rungs until I get to the top with the line over my back. I remove it from it's tought position on my back and I try to put it in place on the little holding piece. I fiddle with it until I get it in there all the while I'm saying 'Get in there dammit'. It's in so I set it so water can move freely out of it and I start moving it around trying my best to cover the deck.*
"Hannahan to COPA, i'm suppressing fire from the top ladder."

"Fire fighter Botfish to COPA, I am on the pumpers deck gun and am spraying all the visible fires"
*I start aiming for another fire*

"Understoof Hannahan"
I check him on my list

*I continue spraying the boat all over and the fires seem to slowly go down. The more water that hits the fire, the more smoke that went up limiting my visibility. I try to get a good shot at it but it doesn't seem like its working since the smoke is greatly blocking the water. I try to trudge on even though it seems like it will be a while until it goes out.*
"I copy."

" Copa this is FF Matthews from SEV2, im pulling a line off of the pumper to the back of the boat ( not on it but to the rear of it) and im setting up to attach the blitzfire and then heading to rehab"
* I pull a 3" line off of the rear of the pumper and stretch it down the dock to the rear of the boat and set it down and hook up the blitzfire*
( godmodding a pump operator for the pumper)
" Pumper 11, go ahead and charge the orange line, i have it connected to discharge 4"
