Holdup w/ Hostages

'Where do you want me to put the suspect?'

* I nod.
'Shouldn't be a problem. Might want BLS-1 to head over here though, if we need transport.'

I move ahead, to open the door, and push it open, to allow Kaizer and the patient through, I attempt to wedge the door open, allowing easier access for all time, but fail, so I head over to the bags of equipment I'd dropped and pick up a bottle of water.

*In an heartbeat the raid is over,I catch my breath and move toward bucello*

"How many hostages we got bucello?" I ask

"Jackson, you can set the suspect on the hood of the RRT, Im gonna give him a talk"

'Got it, grab a drink or some first-aid stuff if you need.' I say, gesturing to the water and first-aid kit on the floor, whilst I walk over to Linda. 'Linda, we gotta take the suspect over to the RRT sir, Lieutenant's orders.' I tell him, as I see the suspect, still slightly dazed and confused.

'Two hostages, Birdwell, my initial count was wrong. One is already at the RRT truck; we need someone to debrief her as well as the one we're taking away for a medical evaluation. I'll do a sweep of the building for anything left behind.'

"10-4 bucello, that is what I was expecting, have we retreaved the weapon and cleared it yet??"

((I am permiter right?))

((Yes, but not for too much longer.))

'I don't see the weapon he used anywhere; he must have dropped it when the flashbang went off. I'll start conducting the sweep and I'll bag and tag it when it turns up.'

**I start looking around the counter area; nothing turns up. Looking under the aisles, there is an S&W revolver. I take out a plastic bag and mark it as evidence.**

"We've located the weapon; continuing to search."

((ok good))

'Whose patrol car is the closest so I can still the suspect in?'

((I said earlier TAC want him at the RRT.))

'Corporal, TAC want him over at the RRT, I think I said it, may not have, they want to question him, with a large stick.' I started to grab the bags I'd dropped on the floor, and moved towards the pavement. 'Hey guys, got any scene tape, gotta cordon the place off.' I shouted, wondering if I'd have to walk to my patrol car again.

**I finish the search inside the building, not finding anything of significance.**

'I'll run out and get some.'

**I jog to the RRT truck, where the suspect already is, to get yellow crime scene tape. One of the hostages is getting a debrief; the other is getting looked over by EMS.**

"PC-2 returning to patrol car, and moving it to the crime scene, over." I transmitted the message through my radio and then started jogging over to my patrol car, it was a tiring jog as the adrenaline was fading out of me, but it would be a short drive back, I thought, as I unlocked the vehicle and climbed in. I turned off the emergency lights and started to drive to outside the building, stopping with my wheels up on the sidewalk. I turned off all of the emergency lights, and then the car, before going around to the back of the vehicle and opening the trunk. 'Evidence Bags.' I muttered, grabbing a few of them, and a few pairs of gloves, before slamming it down. I checked my torch was on my belt, and then headed over to the building. "Suggesting we get the entire road properly closed, get tape up and cars on fend-off. And move all the civilians away." I transmitted, as I knelt down next to the small bag and bunch of bottles I'd dropped, and picked up a bottle of water, opened it, and drunk a large amount of it, before waiting to enter the building, whist Bucello set up a cordon.

"10-4 thanks bucello"

*walk over to the suspect*

"you are in alot of trouble, young man"

*I start to search the suspect, and find a pair of car keys*

"Hey bucello, got somthing! The keys to a 2002 honda, Lets locate it and conduct a secondary search. We may find some more evidence."

**I finish tying the yellow tape to a utility pole when I hear Bridwell call out that he has the keys to the suspect's car.**

'Any reason to believe the suspect rigged his car in any way?'

**I put out some reflective orange cones near the line of yellow tape.**

(I'm back most of my pain is finally gone)

*Rubs his hands together trying to give himself some form of heat and waits to head back to his patrol car and turn up the heater on 'high'.

"PC-2 to TAC, believe you should check out the vehicles in the rear lot, there were three when I looked there, one might be a car used by an accomplice or something. Over." I talked into my radio, looking at the area closed off with police tape, there were still crowds gathering though. "PC-2 here, requesting we move the crowds away, over." I transmitted, pulling on some plastic gloves and then heading inside the building, to see if the man had used weapons, taken money or done anything similar.

"Jackson from Linda why don't you let TAC search and help us with crowd control, I dont know where all my other officers went and its just me out here"
*As I try to get all the crowd to continue to back up*

"Officer Blanc need your assistance with the crowd out front of the gas station"

**I finish marking the perimeter. While I notice the crowd, searching the suspect's car is just as important.**

"Radio if you need more crowd control support. I'm moving to the back."

"Will do Bucello you radio us if you need anything we got your back"

"PC-1, will be out shortly, just conducting a quick check on the scene, TAC are busy searching the guy's car." I moved in, kneeling by the desk and lighting up the area with my flashlight. 'Nothing.' I muttered to myself. Just a few cigarette stubs. I moved behind the desk, and saw the register open behind it. There was no money inside, and it seemed like the hold-up was only initiated because he realised that his robbery was failed. "PC-2, suspect possibly been robbing from local gas stations and small shop, he's taken all the money from the register. DC can we run a check on small armed robberies in the area? Over." I prepared to look further, any shell casings or such, but the floor seemed to be empty of all but small pieces of evidence, which Forensics would look at later.

(or don't listen to me)
'everyone back up we are still trying to clear the area for safety everyone needs to listen and move back'

*sees some news media trying to get under the tape*
'look y'all aren't any different then anyone else right now y'all need to follow that crowd and move back now. Questions will be answered later.'

(Remind them that crossing a federal police line is a felony and will result with arrests, and I've got lots of lockup room!!)

"Any information on this suspect will be looked up after he has been brought back to holding. Since this is a hostage crime, not a simple armed robbery, there was more at stake, so we'll take care of booking him at the station."

**Behind me, there is now a lot more light. The TV crews are setting up again. I call Bridwell over to get the lock open on the suspect's car, since he has the keys. As he does, I see something in the passenger seat. I lean over; apparently, there's some sort of letter near the passenger door.**

'When can we get this door open? Looks like the suspect left some sort of note.'

I walked out of the building and placed down my evidence bags, putting my gloves on top of one of the bags. I started to walk forward, towards the crowds, all jostling to have a look. Some teenagers were attempting to duck in on the left side, and I walked over to confront them. 'Listen, get back this is a crime scene. We need you to stay back as there are possibly loaded weapons in the area, so just stay back.' I told them, and a few adults. 'That includes you!' I shouted at another reporter trying to duck under the tape. As I heard Burke's message, I grabbed my radio to reply. "Sir, PC-2 copies. TAC, just be aware we have a possible accomplice from out of state. There's a car parked up with another State Licence Plate." I replied, taking a step back so the crowd wouldn't go mad as they heard the message.

*Hustles over towards the gas station and starts urging the people to get back

*While I stand on the other side of the caution tape I get confronted by a news reporter, when approaches me I kinda mumble damn it under my breath*

Reporter: What can you tell me about this incident?
Me: You probably know more then me. I say jokingly.
Reporter: No sir I don't what happened?
Me: All I can tell you is that there was 1 suspect that took 4 people hostage. You will get more information when we can give it to you understand?
Reporter: Well yes sir but your a corporal so you can talk to us.
Me: Sir I have told you all I can and we would like your cooperation with staying behind the tape. More information will be given when it is time and I can assure you it won't be by me.

*He walks away and I sigh and shake my head*

((I thought he'd understand a corporal is never scene commander.. Maybe a Lt he'd expect. a Cpl, doubtful. ))

'Don't mess up any interviews, guys...'

**Bridwell opens the car, and I get the letter. It turns out to be a suicide note of sorts. In it, the suspect rants about his job loss, deaths in his family and a court summons for a fine he can't pay. He goes on to say that his "way out" is by "the barrel of another man's gun".**

"COPA, we have a note fron the suspect. Apparently, he wanted to provoke us to fire on him. The reporters are probably asking for information - should TAC deliver a statement?"

' I didn't they already knew that information.'

"PC 8 to incident commander do you require additional units for crowd control or transport?"

"10-4 pc-8, want to come out here code 1, we got quite the scene."

*I've walked over to behind the barrier tapes and started crowd control with the other officers.*

((Sorry I'm a bit off lately, lot on my plate irl.))

*Gets in car and starts toward scene*
"PC-8 Show me going to the scene"

'Listen, I want you to move back, this is a crime scene, and it is highly dangerous.' I tried to guide the crowd back, but some of the people in the crowd were angry, and wanted to attack the hostage taker, some of the families of the hostages were trying to get to their family members, and others were just interested in what had happened. "PC-8, park up a block or two from the scene, don't want to cause more havoc by announcing more police are here. Over".

"Negative PC-8, come to scene we need to move this people back."

"All availble units for crowd control please meet by squads, units on crowd stay at postion."

"PC-8 Arrived On Scene" 'Where do you need me sarge' *goes to the trunk and pulls out a roll of crime scene tape*

(Russo, we've already marked off the scene with tape and cones.)

'Could kick off, shouldn't though.' I muttered to myself, standing still with my arms spread to the side. 'Stay back, or I'll have you arrested for disturbing a crime scene.' I shouted at a few reporters, still trying to edge forward, closer to the tape. They didn't want to listen. I jogged over and stuck out a hand, blocking their way. 'Listen, you can either move back, or I'll arrest you.' They seemed to listen to the threat, moving back a few yards from the tape, like the rest of the crowd in my section, and I ducked under the tape to grab some water.

**I move back out front and notice the gathering crowd. The officers were as of yet unsuccessful in dispersing them. I decide to get on the bullhorn.**

"Listen up! Everybody needs to get at least ten feet away from the yellow tape. That means get your gear, turn around and start walking. We will start removing people if you don't get ten feet back from the yellow tape. This is your final warning."

**There doesn't seem to be much compliance, for whatever reason. Every few minutes or so, they move closer to the line. I set the LRAD on the RRT truck and direct it at the crowd; they soon scramble.**

(I don't like the LRAD, seems to be provocative.)

As the crowd move away I head back to make sure no-one remains, shepherding the last few teenagers away. "PC-2 to Bucello, cut the LRAD, they've left. PC-2 to COPA, can we get the nearby area closed off so that we can search for any evidence or accomplices. Over" I clicked my radio on my shoulder flap and started to grab my first aid kit and water bottles, ready to walk them back to my patrol car.

**I cut the LRAD switch.**

'What the hell was all of that? We're just dealing with a crime scene; why the huge crowd?'

((Seriously? We don't need this business with a huge crowd. If we're going to try to complicate the mission, we should do it in a way that makes sense. Most people will listen to the police when told to stay away from a crime scene.))

"It's a crime scene with what, a TAC SUV and multiple patrol cars, I'm not sure civilians are gonna ignore that are they?" I answered Bucello. I was slightly suprised too, but in some cases like this, people got mad and just wanted to get at the man. Car use gas stations, and without them, they had nowhere to fill, which may have angered some of the crowd.

(Not all people though. I'm not sure you'd be listening if you had to get your car in to fill up with gas, you'd be ranting to the police, or your daughter was taken hostage, you'd want to see her and family and stuff. It's not really complicating the mission though, it's putting a few units, who weren't doing much, on Crowd Control.)

"PC-2 to COPA, requesting permission to leave the scene." I transmitted via my radio, after placing my first-aid kit and water in the trunk. I checked the EAT, and whilst waiting for permission to clear the scene, climbed out of the car and sat on the hood, swigging from an isotonic drink and watching the vehicles turning around at the road flares blocking the road, there were plenty of angry blasts of their horn, and many curses as the cars couldn't get gas.

"Copy PC-2, all units may leave unless maintaining a vital resource. TSD will be on scene shortly to take over. Supervisor will announce when it's clear to leave scene totally"

"Copy, PC-2 is leaving scene, will be on standby at the complex. Over." I climbed into my car and turned it on, pulling away from the closed off roads and accelerating down the roads, following the traffic laws, just waiting to return to the Complex and get off shift.

*Hearing the radio chatter and starts to walk back to his patrol vehicle.
*Enters and turns the heat on
"PC-1 Clearing"
*Puts the car in drive and beings slowly driving away

"copy that DC, want me to prepare a statement to put in the press release??"

"UMC-1 is en route back for patrol"
