Post by C. Jackson Sat Jan 15, 2011 8:24 pm

I stepped on the accelerator, powering it down Trulit Interpass. The siren was on priority now, full blast, bullhorn at people who didn't move fast enough. "PC-2 nearly on scene, ETA, one minute." I transmitted the message and then blasted the bullhorn again, and turned the siren onto yelp. Just ahead was the Gas Station. I braked hard, the car grinding to a halt quickly. Siren off, director lights on. I climbed out of my cruiser, grabbing the shotgun from the rack next to me, closing the door, and then standing there, waiting for support to come.

*After a few minutes drive I arrive by PC-2's patrol car. I drive past him and park in front of him because he already has his traffic director on. I switch of my siren and press the run-lock button so that the engine will continue running, then remove the keys from the ignition. I unlock my shotgun from it's rack and bring it with me as I leave the car, then walk over to officer Jackson after locking the doors.*

'Hello rookie, flying start to your career here huh?', I say with a grin.
*I check my shotgun and sidearm to make sure they are loaded and clear for action. They are, and so am I... I grab my radio extension mic, switch the radio to the TAC-channel and speak:*

    "PC-7 on scene."

'Madness indeed.' I smiled, and then grabbed my radio. "COPA, can we get schematics of the building sent to our EATs? Over." I replaced my radio and then looked at Halls and Blanc. 'Ok, we need to set up a unit at the back, and one of us needs to watch the front, last guy needs to be able to provide support if it all goes wrong, who's going where?' I start to give orders, but still asking if people are willing to risk their lives.

"Blanc, can you ensure that the road is closed off? I think you got flares. Just close the incoming lanes on both sides of the street, you should be fine after that, just monitor. TSD is about 20 minutes delayed"
I say after looking into the scene cams
"RRT has the schematics. It's a simple building, one bathroom in back and a backroom with a table and chair. Nothing else inside aside from shelves, which wouldn't be included on a blueprint. It's useless this time around"

"Copy that COPA. Is there only one entrance? Over." I replaced my radio again, and started to get nervous, standing around never helped nerves, and no-one was immune to nerves, just they were too busy to realise. 'I think TAC are going to be at least 10 minutes. Waiting on the last guy to arrive.' I scratched my head. 'Anyone got a pair of binoculars or a high-zoom camera, we can try and use them to scope out the situation.' I suggested, trying to think of ways to sort this out quickly

'Thanks.' I lift up the binoculars and have a look through them. In the gas station's building, it looks like two to three men are in there, one brandishing a pistol openly, shouting at a woman behind a desk. 'Two, three males, one definitely armed, at least one hostage, female worker I assume, you check it out, second opinion's always good.' I said, as I handed the binoculars over to Halls.

'Sir, we believe there's two to three males, one is definitely armed, inside the building, there's only the front entrance I believe, unless we misheard COPA, and they have one woman hostage. I doubt this station makes enough money for that to be the only reason for this hold up.' I said to Libor, briefing him on what we knew already, before I set off to watch part of the building, I waited for Halls to say what he'd seen.

'Copy that.' I replied, heading over to my patrol car to grab some extra shotgun ammo, then walking around a few different blocks to get to my position without causing mayhem. COPA were right, no back door, it was all looking OK, as I sat down, and prepared to watch the scene, to see if anything would change.

    'Got it!'

*I leave the binoculars on the trunk of my squad car then crouch/walk over to the front left corner of the gas station parking lot. I'm still a good distance away from the station building itself, so I kneel down behind some benches and garbage cans to stay out of view. I have a clear view of the front room through the big windows in the station, I see the gunman threatening the two other males now while holding the female employee by one arm. I put down my shotgun and get on the radio to report:*

"Libor, I got visual. The gunman is armed with a handgun, he's threatening the hostages. He's got the female by the arm, over."

((Going to bed now, it's way to late for me. Godmod me if the raid goes down before I get back. Smile)

"This is PC-2 to PC-6, TAC OIC, suggesting we set a sniper team up. The windows are making it too obvious for forced entry, and the rear has no entry either." I clicked my radio back, and turned down the channels slightly, watching the cars for anyone else inside them, or anything. You never knew with these hostage takers, they ranged from mad to completely sane, from bored to seeking revenge, I knew from first-hand experience. As I heard Bridwell's message I pressed the transmit button on my radio. "Bridwell, this is PC-2, we have one suspect with a Pistol. Three hostages we believe."

'I've got an ERT phone; as long as COPA is available to negotiate, we can establish communications. If I take off my armor and put away my weapons, I can set the phone down at the front door.'

*I walk over put my M16 away and grab out a ballistic shield. 'okay you grab the phone and line up behind me we'll throw it right through the front door. Linda get on the PA and tell them were only brining a phone in.'

**I remove my armor and helmet. I hear the bullhorn message:**

'Attention! We are sending an unarmed officer to give you a phone. Please don't fire; we only want to negotiate!'

**With the phone clearly visible, I walk towards the building with my arms extended to my left and right, to show that I won't reach for any weapons. I notice the suspect's head peeking out from the window. Behind me, the rest of the team is keeping their distance. Anyone walking to the building with guns will damage our credibility, and the suspect won't want to negotiate. I arrive at the door, open it slightly and set the phone down inside. I also use my time to quickly check to see where the hostages are. I walk back.**

"COPA, the phone was dropped off as planned. I was able to survey the interior of the building, and I'll submit a sketch through the EAT."
