House Fire - FEC

*I walk over to the BLS-1 with Jansen and Hannahan.*

'Okay guys, once we're done here, we're gonna overhaul it and secure the house'
I get my vitals checked by McGuire and wait for the others

*I have my vitals check and get a bottle of water while waiting for Hannahan.*

'Hannahan, we're gonna start with the overhaul, you can help when your done. Bruce and Matthews, you overhaul the first floor, me and Hutchinson are gonna take the basement. You get a TIC Hutchinson, than we can go'

"Jansen to COPA, starting overhaul"

* I grab a pike pole and bruce grabs a closet hook and we enter the house and start taking walls and ceilings down and check them with the tic*

" Matthews to Jansen we have nothing down here on the bottom floor, we'll go over and check again, do we have an investigator on the way?"

"Copy, I'll request a Fire Marshall on scene"
"Jansen to COPA, can we have a Fire Marshall on scene?"

Me and Hutchinson check the basement, there are no more hotspots and its clear.

"Jansen to Matthews, Basement clear, heading out, let me know when your done"

" Matthews to Jansen were done also." I yell to Jansen" and im no investigator, but I dont believe many houses have black burn trails through living rooms" * I laugh hopeing Jansen will get the joke as Bruce and I walk back out and start taking our SCBA off and putting equipment away*

I hear Matthew's joke and laugh 'Investigator should be here soon' I say as I walk outside and put off my B.A and take of my helmet.
'So, you have anything to say about the call?'

*I tug my line from under my arm and go into the kitchen and out through the backyard. I go around the backyard to the front and place the line next to the pumper. I take off my SCBA and mask and go to get checked by Mcguire. After i'm done, I get my line and go help Bruce with the overhaul.*
"Got a charged line on the first floor. If you see any hotspots, let me know."

( i think were done overhauling, and jansen were you asking me if I had anyhting abouy it or were you talking to burke?)

I think it went well, it was good we worked in teams and rotated, too bad bls 1's crew wasnt active, it would of added more. for ex. they could of said one of us had to high of a BP and couldnt go back or something along those lines, and i dont think anyone picked up a hydrant

True, forgot about a hydrant indeed . gonna write a report and post it

When my report is done and we're cleared by COPA, can you secure the scene with tape?

Summary : Smoke and fire showing on arrival of BLS 1, Pumper crew went around back,
attacked fire in the living room, house was vented by the Ladder and
primary search was started, fire extension found in basement, got knocked
down by Ladder crew. Overhaul started and completed, everyone got checked
by BLS-1. Overall a good call

Negative : BLS-1 wasnt much active, same for the Pumper,problem could have been the different
timezone's in RL

* I take a ouple rolls of CAUTION DO NOT ENTER tape out of the cab of the ladder and wrap it around a couple telephone poles and mailboxes to secure the front of the building.. just as I finish I see the fire investigator show up*

'Thanks, im gonna talk to the owners and the investigator'

First I go to the investigator.
'Hi, I'm the Truck Officer Jansen from Ladder 1'
'I'm Fire Marshal Charles Smith'
'We had a fire in the back, the living room, with an extension in the basement, the owners where outside on arrival, shall we go to them'
'Okay, yeah sure'

We walk towards the owners
'Hi guys, this is Fire Marshall Smith and he's gonna ask you a few questions and let you back
in to your house when he is finished'
'Okay, thanks for helping us'
'No problem it's our job'

"Jansen to COPA, Fire Marshall on-scene"

I walk away put off my jacket and take a bottle of water, while im awaitng COPA's clearance

(I did connect to the hydrant on the first page lol. Oh and you guys post seriously fast so I had to keep modifying my posts haha and sorry I wasn't too active. Had some stuff to take care of.)
*I bring my line out of the house as Tim rolls out the tape. I then bleed out the line by uncoupling the couplings and picking up the hose and draining it. I put the couplings back together and pack the hose into the compartment neatly and unhook the supply line from the hydrant and turn the hydrant off by using the hydrant wrench. I then drain and roll up the supply line and put it back in the slot next to the pump. I put the cap back onto the hydrant then tighten it.I finish up, grab my clipboard and start taking inventory. After everything checks out, I take off my helmet and place it into my seat. I then lean on the pumper and wait to be cleared.*
'That was a pretty easy house fire eh? Great job Jansen.'

* I grab a water bottle and sit on the front bumper of the ladder watching the investigator and the family walk through the house and realize how much of a loss it was*

(haha, had free time on my hands, and no problem, private life is always more important )

I walk over to Hannahan. 'Yeah, thanks. I hope we hear soon who's gonna be the T.O for Ladder 1 and gets a office' I smile and take a sip of water

*I walk over to both Jansen and Hannahan* 'That was one heck of a first call, by the way Im the new FF/Paramedic on Ladder 1'

" so when do you guys think i'll lose my probie status?"

'Welcome aboard mate, one of us is gonna be your new T.O. What did you think of your first call? And Matthews, that's up for the DC to decide, but I think your're ready'

" ahh ok, thought it was up to the T.O."

'Well, I believe the D.C makes the final desicion, but currently you don't really have a T.O haha, soon enough you have one'

((I don't have the time during the day to be constantly on a forum. I was busy today, and when I was reading the post and say you guys coming to rehab I thought (Oh cool, they're actually coming to rehab for once, lol) but then I go on the next page, and you godmod me after I don't post for about 10min. of nothing from me. (1:03 local time: you walk to rehab. 1:11 local time, you leave and go overhaul) I understand you want to keep it going and get it done, but if you want more activity out of other people, then give us time to actually get on the forum. This post is the first time I've been able to get on since this morning. So please do not give me a negative comment about my activity if you're not going to give me time to post anything))

*Seeing that the call is wrapping up, I put the jumpbag back in the cabinet and take a seat in the drivers seat*

*i put the ladder down in its original possition then raise all the out riggers. and pack up my cross lays.*

*i climb in the drivers seat and put the ladder in reverse and back down the driveway watching Matthews direction. once on the street i put the ladder back in park and wait to be cleared*

*I go over to the ladder, take my SCBA off and put it in my seat, put my tools back where they belong and roll up the RIT tarp. I then take off my helmet and coat and place them on my seat an go sit on the bumper and wait to be cleared.*
'Jansen, I think my first run when well, it felt a little unorganized at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was really quite fun.'

Well, I shut off the pump and pack up and get in the drivers seat and wait to be cleared.

Doo dee doo dee doo. I noticed a few things.
Good work on that call. (i've been busy, got national registry next week. classes and stuff are not fun.)
#1. BLS should have been doing rehab.
#2. You guys started cutting into the house before the source was found. That's what the TIC's for.
#3. Shutting off the power is up to TP&W(or whatever it's called, but the city's electrical tech's.)

Just a few things, good teamwork though, i'm glad that you guys really work together now.
(I've missed ert.)

I get in the officers seat and put on the headset
"Ladder 1 returning to quarters"

*I open the door then jump into the pumper and sit behind Galligano. I close the door then put my seatbelt on. As I put on my headset, the pumper starts moving and soon enough we're on our way back to the station.*

( McGuire: we werent bashing you at all, we were just saying it was unfortunate that you couldnt be here)

*I put it in drive, pull onto the road towards ERT, then shut off the lights and pick up the radio*

"BLS-1 is clear of the fire scene."

This call turned out well, two things I want to point out, the first
being, if I send a unit to the scene, it's because he should be there...
BLS support was not used for fire fighter rehab as it should've been. Yes I understand you guys wanna wrap things up, but rushing is bad. Godmodding someone to do a full task, which is their only one is a GIANT no no, unless it is a long time waiting (more than 12 hours) Secondly, there was a entry before we knew what was on the go..
I liked the use of asking for things such as a fire marshall.. Shows that you're thinking, but remember, since we don't have the full set up here just yet, we won't be able to send those. For instances like that, you can just close up the scene and god mod that a fire marshall or investigator from the PPD arrives when you guys leave.
Also, to point out, ERT reserves the right to shut of power to a building, however since this building was abandoned, there shouldn't have been any powere there anyways.

Both contenders did well for this, so I will meet with officers about this, see how they feel, and announce the promotion and appointment when it has been decided.
