When I start to get low on police, I'm moving the OIC to the SUP1 car. The Shift supervisors will remain in their own cars however not a supervisor car. (Shift supervsiors are NHRO1 and NHRO2, Linda and Halls)

Re: Patrol Cars
There was never a SUP 2, Supervisor 1was put out of commission for the time being as the supervisor was happy with his current vehicle.

Re: Patrol Cars
So, are police cars supposed to be staffed with two people, or is it just one person, and you could have another?

Re: Patrol Cars

Re: Patrol Cars
The chargers are still in service and will remain for some time. The CV used was an 07 model, the charger is 09 model. I will replace them maybe next year, but I will not be using SUVs to replace regular patrol cars, since we are in an urban area, and gas mileage is the main concern. We will be getting SUVs but not to become standard use

Re: Patrol Cars
You see an abundance of SUVs in rural areas, especially those where the roads may not be all paved. In Urban areas, SUVs are reserved for special task forces, supervisors, and K9 units, but are not commonground for regular patrol, simply because their MPG is much lower than a patrol car's would be

Re: Patrol Cars
I was wondering, since PD officers except tac/sups etc. Don't POV's with lights and sirens to respond in. Which makes since to me, could we have it where officers take their cars home? It would save the time of having to drive to the station to get our car/equipment, and response times would be quicker. We would still have use for the station. I know many agencies other than state police and Sheriff's office that give their officers some take home cars. Like some of the city police officers here and all 10 of the National Park Service Rangers here are issued them. Just a thought of course.

Re: Patrol Cars
A lot of places are cutting that out for three reasons, Gas, mileage/extra usage, and they don't NEED it. In my city we let our main forensics guy take his truck home, since he's always on call, but other than him and some higher ups, everyone has thei own personal vehicle, and their squad car. We are not the only police in the city, so if something comes up where we need more officers, such as the ones not on duty, then we would call them into work and get in their cars. There is always at least 2 officer on duty here, so taking home a car would be sort of redundant, not to mention the two person cars.
And of course wear and tear.. We ride cars rough, no doubt about it, and we use a loota miles. Off duty to and from would add to that, since we'd all need to check in at station and what not at the beginning of each shift, even in a big emergency, since you may have special orders, information, or gear at the station.
That being said, I will take formal applications from some people (that means asking to get it take home, telling me why YOU should have it, and providing good evidence, not just I want to take my unit home) and if it looks good enough to me, then I will permit it for those officers.

Re: Patrol Cars
here we allow the K-9 officer to take his car home since it's the easiest and safest way to transport his dog.

Re: Patrol Cars
Well that does make since. Around here they mainly let them take them home if they live like the city officers for example if they live a certain distance away so once they go on duty they don't have to drive to the station and can just go in service and be in their patrol area.

Re: Patrol Cars
Where I'm from, the Chief has an unmarked take home, all investigators/ school lasions have unmarked take home, thats all. Marked squads shouldnt be.
However, maybe you should give Dave a POV just due to the small amounts of officers avalible...?

Actually, where I live it shouldn't take me more than five minutes at the most to get to the station.

Re: Patrol Cars
Well our K9 is also a supervisor, so his takehome is a given. We don't have any liasons as actual players, because it'd be a boring job. I've got two or three things to bring up for formal debate, so we'll continue it in the ERT bettering topic in Support
