we use mechanic gloves on rescues around here usually there just easier to grip with and we always have ppe on.

Same here. We got extrication, work, and wildland gloves. Makes it easier for rescue.

Here we have regular fire gloves, medic gloves and some firefighters opt to buy mechanic gloves, however the station doesn't give them as basic equipment since anything they give out MUST be NFPA certified

yeah ares aren't "give as equipment" there laying around haha and we pick up a pair lol

I really like the black turnouts, we have tan ones. Some of our FFs have the old clip and velcro fronts that look like traditional gear. But thoses are getting swaped out pretty quick... so now the explorers get em

Thats one of the reasons its so hard to watch people protest at military funerals people forget that that person gave there life so they can stand there and protest.

yeah, i couldn't believe it when we were shown videos of those protestors. My cousin is overseas now and he is truly tring to make our country a better place. According to or Government leaders it happens to be "eliminating" terrorism

The most recent ones just make no sense at all protesting anti-gay at military funerals if you want to protest anti-gay go to an aids clinic or something...if you want to protest anti war you go to military funerals those were just random shots at what ever they thought would get them the most attention

no joke it's been OOS for over a year and before that it only worked for about a month from the time we had it fixed before that 87 pumped to 2 1/2 inc lines a 3' line a 4' line and two 1 3/4 lines

Yeah, get one of those huge Pierce tower ladders...I love those. We have one from '02, and it is a great lookin ladder, with 2 cannons on the bucket and everything. It's a beast! But about turnouts, we have black ones too. So does the department my dad works for, I've tried them on.

Has anyone ever been at school/college and some girl walks up to you and says "My butt hurts"?

I had that happen the other day and was like I don't care. Apparently she thinks because i'm an EMT-B I can take care of that. All I told her was either to wipe better, or not wear a thong. She got pissed for some reason, I was just stating the possible reasons.

ProMed Ambulance, they run in Malvern about 25 mins from where I live. I will get some good calls, they have a lot of drug problems and such. There the ones that run the older for E series ambulances.

The E-Series i've rode in were crap, so bad my first day we had one of them and it broke down in the first 5 minutes I was on Medic 1. We then got one of the brand new rigs and it was nice.Then again they were in the process of being replaced, and were the ugliest color ever, the worst green color you could have on an ambulance. Only problem the entire time I was riding the coolest it ever was in the back was 100 degrees. I actually was able to sleep in the back of the truck after a LDT and it was 115 degrees back there.

By the way Burke: After how long do we usually replace our rigs?

BTW. side now thanks to whoever has been reading my blog been getting a lot of hits from different countries as well as the U.S. and since i added the music player from my friends bag he jumped up 30 positions in the D.C. charts
