Plane down

"Dispatch, this is Chief Assention, TVFD, send all available ERT units code 3 to State fair west field, possible private aircraft down. TVFD is en route, unknown information. I'll try to check it out now."
*Information transmitted via text messages*

* just as i set my gear out for the night and morning the tones drop*

' oh hell yea!!'

* i jump into the drivers seat and read the EAT from floans seat*

' uh oh'

* i throw my bunkers on and throw my jacket and helement on the center consouel*

" copa pump 11 ackwnoledges the call, we're crewing up"

* i put the mic back down and start the truck up and flip the lights on*

*I flick the lights on and open the door then wait for Cory*

' Alright Timmy lets roll. '

* I lean my head back in the seat and watch as we start to pull out of the station. *

*I jump in to the IC seat of RA1, reach up to the EAT and hit the En route button. I switch the siren on as Botfish hits the gas and we start rolling.*

'Austin park us up hill, up wind and up stream of the incident since we don't know what is on that plane.'

"RA1 to P11, lets go ahead and treat this as a hazmat till we know whats on board."

'Got it!'

*We head out of the station and I find a nice hill and pull off to the side killing the siren but stay in the ambo*

"RA-1 on scene, fire is growing"

*I get to the station and get out of my truck. I run and get my gear on and get on the truck. I feel the trucktake off and read over the EAT, I see there is possible injuries so I pull on some med gloves and check for my bag, I tap it and the O2 bag under my seat.I hear the HAZMAT call also. I gear up in SCBA and roll up my window as we ride towards Trulit.

"Units on scene, any identifiers on the plane, such as a logo, branding or tail number visible?"
'I just called out to my units on scene to get some identifiers, we aren't totally sure what's on the go there. I've got some remote cameras on my trucks, and I can see a little bit, but where it's so far in the field, I can't see anything of use to you. I'll try watching through thermal once a truck gets there.'
'Thanks Burke, those FAA guys are just getting in now, I'll brief them, then send them over to your area. I assume TSD is shutting down the area?'
'As protocol dictates. They'll need an escort to get in.'
'Okay, well I'll have them check in at front desk, you're still in the main building right?'
'Yeah, once they get in, they'll be brought to the COPA room, and I'll give them a run down of what we've got, then we'll get moving. I'm gonna try to get a hold of the radio station, see if they're got any images on their webcam we can stream'
'sounds good, keep me posted'

*I run out of Floans house and down the long driveway and get into my car. I turn on my lights and burn outta there towards the station.*
"R1 command COPA, arrived at station 2 2250hrs. ETA 5 minutes."
*I jump turn off my car and lights and get out locking the door behind me. I run to my gear and get it on and turn on the truck for Mitch. I get in my seat, put on my seatbelt as well as my headset. As Mitch gets in, I put us en route.*
"Rescue 1 en route to state fair for the plane down."

"Copy R1, ensure that you guys have the gear to get in, I don't know if we've got flame yet'

" Pump-11 Copies RA-1 Set up your triage area in a safe distance away from the potential fire scene. Pump-11 is 6 minutes out. "

' Ok guys here it goes, Possible plane coming down. 30 potential victims but thats unconfirmed. This is what I want.

Colwell: Set up 1 2 1/2" Line and attack any brush thats on fire

Van Der Water: Set up a 2 1/2" line and coat the planes wings

Anders and Matthews Get ready with Foam from the Engine, lets find out where the plane is and we can get a jump on things. '

" Pump-11 to Rescue 1 We are gonna set up water and foam attack operations, let us know where your gonna stage so we can support your extrication efforts. BREAK Pump-11 to Ladder 1 What is your ETA to scene over? "

* I watch as we zip in and out of traffic as Matthews speeds up. I reach back and secure my air pack then throw my cover on. I look down and make sure my gloves are attached to my coat and I have plenty of Latex gloves available. *

' Tim get as close to the brush and plane as possible, this has the potential to be a large brush fire which will entrap the passengers in that plane. Hey u guys also, be agressive on the fire attack, we dont want a brush incident that is out of control around a plane that we may be having to do extrications out of. '

"Rescue 1 to COPA, we copy."
*I think to myself, is the k12 ready? yes JOL (Jaws of life)? yes Foam mixture? Yes but a little; Lights? yes*
'Alright Mitch, it's you and me so get uh the Spreaders and I'll get the generator and the lines out. After that, get you're SCBA on just in case. I don't care if there is no fire now. You won't really know what'll happen heh. I'll get some portable lights set up after getting the spreaders plugged up for ya and get the triage tarp out if need be.'
"Rescue 1 to Pumper 11, we're going to be staging near the plane when it lands. About 30 feet away though since I don't want to get too close to it. What's you're plan of attack? We may be able to back you up when we're done."
*I lay on the horn and I look up and see no plane yet but I anticipate it will land softly, hopefully.*

" Pump-11 to Rescue 1.....I will have 1 2 1/2" line and a foam line working the plane and another 2 1/2" line working any possible brush that catches fire, we're gonna soak the hell out of that plane in Foam and if necessary water too. We'll back you up inside with Patients if necessary im [u]Hoping this doesnt kill a ton of people or have a Massivly large rescue. lets hope he is a good pilot. "

"I copy P-11. We're definitely going to need help extricating. Depending on how many doors are in there, you can spare a guy that can open the rest of the doors."
*I fix myself and look around in the night sky but still see no plane. I look down at my EAT and see that the plane is already down.*
'Huhhhmmm. Dang, never noticed that.'

" Pump-11 Copies Rescue 1 we'll spare who we can. "

* Tim pulls up to the State Fair gates. Security frantically waves us through and we drive on, in the near distance there is a very bright orange glowand what looks to be smoke showing. *

' What the hell, I didnt think the plane was down yet. Tim speed up i think the plane is already crashed. '

" Pump-11 to Rescue 1 the Plane is already down and on fire, up your ETA please. Pump-11 is setting up State Fair command. BREAK......Copa, Pump-11 we are on scene assuming command. We have a plane down and burning in the fields continue all units Code 3 and put EMS on stand by. "

' Guys everything is still the same, just get the hoses and foam going and put the damn fires out. '

"We're right around the corner. ETA...now. Rescue 1 COPA, we're on scene. Fire showing on the plane's right wing. No doors open and electricity to the aircraft seems to be off. We're setting up portable lights and hurst tools. Can we get EMS units to stage 1000 feet away from the aircraft when they arrive?"
*Mitch drives up 200 feet away from the plane.*
'Stop in 100 feet.'
*Mitch stops in exactly 101 feet but I don't care and I jump out, get my SCBA on and I run as fast as I can to the rear drivers side compartment, grab the generator, plug it up and pick it up and jog it away from the truck. I then make sure the hydraulic hose is plugged up and the connector to the spreaders (forgot what I should call it) is out for Mitch. I run back to the officers side and turn the scene lights on. I then jog back to the other side and get the tarp out just in case for rehab or triage since EMS would take a while to arrive. I see the TVFD guys arrive and get out and get their SCBA's on too grabbing equipment from their trucks.*

I arrive just as Hannahan starts the rescue. I get my turnout gear on and get in the truck and respond to the call. We arrive to see the other units there. I set the anti-theft device on the track and put chocks under the wheels.

I walk over to Hannahan and talk to him while I put my SCBA on:

"What do you want me to do?"

I drive to the station code 3 in my POV. Then I park, run inside, gear up and get in the squad.

(Guys, you may not see me until later tonight (I mean late late) becuase of school and homework so Mitch, you have your orders and you're doing fine so far so I want Floan to be in charge of you Mitch unless McEvoy shows up and tells you to do something else. Floan, don't kill my guy kay? haha bye)
'Get the spreaders and hook it up here then until they say it's safe to go, help me set the tarp up as well as the overhead uh covering. Dang, I'm forgetting names of stuff. The big plastic thing that shields us from stuff. You know what I mean.' I say cracking a smile.
*No drinking the day before a call I say to myself. I walk over to the folded triage tarps and wait for Mitch to hook up and help me.*
'Oh Mitch, you may have someone other than me helping you get those doors open so don't feel lik you're doing this yourself kay?'

"roger that"

*I get out*

'Cory, where do you want to set up triage?'

( Dont worry Hannahan I'll just kill you LOLOL J/K. )

* As tim pulls us up on scene I jump out and immediatly start to assess the situation, the scene is pitch black with the exception of the flames. *

" Pump-11 On scene assuming command. All units on Scene activate your truck mounted Flood lights we need to get some light on this area immediatly. BREAK ERT Pump-11 to TVFD Tanker 2 can you pull around and hook up a supply line to me please. "

* I leave my air tank back in the truck and start to walk towards the plane. there is a Brush fire burning off to the left of the plane and Visible flames can be seen coming from the plane's right wing and engine. *

" Pump-11 to Ladder 1, When you guys arrive on scene can you assist Rescue 1 in Extrication please. "

* I take my flashlight and attempt to make out what the tail says on it, The plane for the most part landed whole except for a large visible crackin the top of the plane The tail says Valujet with a strange creature on it which I dont pay much attention to. *

" COPA.....Pump-11 the tail of the plane says Valujet on it # N2995SZ "

' Lets go guys get some foam on the wings and water on the fire please. '

*I hear the transmission and turn on the flood lights*

"Understood, ATC just advised that this was with 7 passengers, and an unconfirmed crew list, possibility of 3-5 on board in crew. Do we need extra EMS?"

"Copa, unknown injury report. You could possibly send them out code 1 and see what the injury report is later"

*I start to put foam on the plane, the fires there begin to die out.*

'alright fellas, you can start to move in!

*I squirt foam in the windows that have been broken in.*

*As we get on scene I notice a leak coming from a barrel near the site of initial impact. I grab the binoculars and see a hazmat placard. I jot down the number and look it up in the ERG. I almost crap when I read what it is. I key up the mic.*

"RA1 to COPA and all units on plane down we have a barrel near the point of inital impact that is leaking, per the placard and the ERG it is Diazinon, an Organophosphate. I recommend full respritory protections and full decon. RA1 will est. EMS command Triage and treatment area up hill, up wind and up stream of this event."

* I hear the transmission from Cory and I hang my head a little low. *

" Pump-11 copies RA-1. BREAK Pump-11 Command to COPA....copy that start us an additional EMS unit please. "

' Guys I need Van Der Water and Matthews to stop what they are doing and take the Foam over to the area where hutchison is referring to and douse the crap out of the area around it and 1 of you spread dirt, litter, any sort of chem absorbant that either the rescue or the ladder has. Im sure we area all out of ours, i really dont care but take that problem out of the equation. Matthews your in charge of taking care of that problem. keep in mind the flashpoint is 180 degrees for it. '

* I turn my attention back to the plane and the people on board. I jog back to the engine to grab my halligan and meet with Mitch. *

' alright mitch, u good using the K-12 and the spreader?. Lets head on over while my guys start to douse the plane and we'll start extricating the people. '

' Nick, come on over and assist the Rescue with the Extrication of the people in the plane. Im gonna head over and meet with the TVFD crew now that there are 2 of u working the tool. '

* I walk over to the TVFD crew that has just pulled up, I walk up to the captains window. *

' evening u guys, can you pull over there and assist my guys in the Brush fire, also have another 1 of your tankers head in that direction. thx. '

* I walk back to my Engine and decide it would probably be best to throw my air tank on. *

"Squad 1 responding, Code 3."

*I put on my pants and boots, throw my other gear in the usual spot, and start up the squad. Then I turn on the lights, put on my headset, and pull out of the station with my foot to the floor. I rev up the Q, turn on the phazer, and blast the horns as I fly through traffic.*

'This is gonna be fun guys.'

Chuck drives the squad onscene and he grabs the radio "Squad 1 onscene"
I grab my radio "Squad 1 to OSC, got us an assignment?"

*I get out and put on my helmet and coat. I wait for Raven to give us orders.*

'Jansen, you think we should foam it? I bet we'll be the ones goin in.'

'You heard that RA1 transmission right? It's a HAZMAT situation, somebody needs to take care of that first, but other than that, its a good idea'

"M-2 Responding Code 1 to scene."
*I grab my radio on my way out, as well as my jacket and get in the ambulance and begin driving towards the scene.

'Oh boy...Well do we have gear in the truck here?'

'I believe we do, but i'm not HAZMAT trained'

((See I passed the HRES test, and HAZMAT is part of that...or I was told...but I never recieved like an official confirmation that I was HRES certified, so I don't think I can do anything.))

'Yah me neither, but somebody's gotta do it...'

"Scene lights are on. Mitch is controlling the spreaders on one end of the plane. Who else is doing that too?"
(Gotta really catch up.)
*I grab the bucket of kitty litter in the compartment and I get as close to the fuel as I can without stepping on it or getting drenched by foam. I open the top of the bucket and start spreading the liter around.*
"Rescue 1 to Squad 1, what's your ETA?"

"Squad 1, to Rescue 1, look behind ya"

(we are on scene XD)

*I arrive on scene and park out of the way of the fire equipment and get on the radio.
"M-2 is On Scene."

(LOL told ya I needed to catch up)
*I jog over to Squad 1 and go up to Jansen.*
"I copy Squad 1."
I say in front of him.
'Alrighty, so I just finished up my whole bucket of kitty liter on that there gas spill and it's being doused with foam. So uh, can I get one of you to tag along with me?'

"Please repeat last transmission Rescue 1, I didnt hear it" I say smiling in front of Hannahan.
'Erm, we'll both go I guess, BA's on?'

'Yeah, let me get mine out.'

*I go around to the back and get my SCBA gear out. I hook up an oxygen tank and get my mask.*

'Okay, I'll get mine'

I grab my SCBA and gear up, then I get my irons just in case.
'Im ready Hannahan'

" Pump-11 command to all units responding, I checked the MSDS for the chem and this is not a HAZMAT situation, simple Turnout gear and water should handle things. BREAK Pump-11 to Squad 1 can you guys handle additional Extrication with the Rescue please that way I can pull my guy off that assignment and back onto suppression. "

* I strap myself into the air pack and walk over to Hannahan who is with the Squad now.*

' Hey John I got Mitch going with the Extrication can we get the squad to do the same, my guys got the Chem drum taken care of hopefully and we got 2 lines going to the plane already. '

*I pick up my radio.*

"Squad 1 copies."

'Looks like we gotta get out the jaws and stuff, keep those irons.'

* I open the door and climb out of the Squad, close the door and walk over to a LT. Floan and a LT. Hannahan*
' Hello I dont have any gear yet but if there is anything i can do to help just let me know. '

'Stanley! Go help the EMT's if ya dont got any gear'

I start taking the jaws out

" Pump-11 to Medic 2, can you report to Hutch or to Botfish on RA-1. BREAK Pump-11 to RA-1 how is Triage coming, the rescue is about to cut into the plane so expect to start receiving victims shortly. "

* I look at the new person in front of me, he is wearing street clothes with nothing identifying him as Fire personell. *

' Ummm Yea dude first thing u can do is get geared up, look in the squad or my Engine over there for an extra pair of turnouts or something to identify yourself and get into them then get with Hannahan over there for assignment. '
