FDNY third alarm fire pictures

Some pictures that me and my friend took at a third alarm fire near the SI ferry terminal. Im in a few pictures as well just look for the guy in a tan golf shirt and sunglasses. It was kind of akward when we were going to this job but thats another story (if anyone wants to hear it i'll post it in this topic)

I love how all of the EMS agencies have turnouts to haha. I don't like those new trucks though. The BC and SO cars.

what was the sattelite, grass fire, and boat rigs doing there?

@ T. Matthews The satellite unit comes out on second alarms and is essentially a giant water gun (No pumps or water supply just a deck gun)

The boat fire rig is actually called a tactical support unit. There are 2 of them in the city and they respond to 2nd alarms

The Grass fire rig is actually a fuel truck which is sent on third alarms.

@ Hannahan SO cars? and i think the Batt trucks would have looked better with a white roof like the excursions had

haha no your fine..western, between rochester and buffalo, a little closer to roochester..right on lake ontario

Lol upstate, I'm from the bronx. I talked to some guys about the trucks when I did my ride alongs and they said they hate it. It feels like it accelerates when they wanna slow down, it feels like the cab wants to slide off of the chassis and the side is made of plastic so it breaks a lot. They said that its only good for the lights. Also, the SO is Safety Officer haha.

From what i had heard alot of chiefs hate the new GMC's because they are ridiculously big . Personally (im showing my age here) i think the best BC Trucks were either the 1991 or 1994 orders. If anyone wants i can throw some pictures of them up

Yeah, put them up. I like those too. Any FDNY trucks from the 70's era forward I like except the BC cars haha.

Only saw them being used once on a major accident. Did you ever see them being used?

I've seen them used before on the highway, but not often, since if you don't seen the giant fire truck, and traffic backed to Timbuktu, you aren't going to see the hiriser bar.

One time a NYPD Highway unit pulled me over and put up a highrise bars. They're embarrassing more than anything lol. They're just like "HEY! Look over here! This guy got pulled over!!!!!!"

Anyway, nice pictures. Any word on the cause of the fire?

Haha, I've seen them up at a medical call I believe. The BC was in front of a bus with E66 behind it. That's all I remember. No cops or anything yet.
