Kingston Furnace Eruption

' John can you start him on o2 by mask at full please. '

" Pump-11 Command to OSC, If EMS is gonna be delayed can we start the RA please. "

*I grab a nonrebreather and put it on the patient on 15L*

* I walk over to the cafeteria windows. I pull up on the first window to open it up. it won't budge. I run to the truck and get a halligan. I pop the glass out of the window. I set the glass on the ground, making sure not to break it. light puffs of smoke come out. I do This with the rest of them.*

"P-11 Van Der Water, can I get some fans to the cafeteria? BREAK Lt., The cafeteria windows are out.

( haha i dont think we really had to take the windows out, i dont think its that much smoke)
" yea casey, ill bring in a box fan we can put in a window"
* I walk over to the ladder and grab a box fan and walk it inside the cafeteria*
' should we trust the eletricty in here, or should we bring in a power source from one of the trucks?'

" Pump-11 Command to Matthews, the Elec should be fine and if we need to take a window to assist in Overhaul then thats what needs to be done, nothing bad about that. "

' John u doing good with him and the o2? '

* I check the man's Vitals again, they havent changed since last check. *

Ok. Floan do you need me over there?

' Yea Casey can you come over and Support the patient with Colwell, Im gonna go check in with Bruce. '

" Pump-11 Command to OSC, our venting is set-up on the interior and all fans are working, any new tasks?. and where is the EMS unit???. "

"Command to Pumper 11 crews are finishing up in here. you think you could send one of your crew members in here with a wet vac to clean up some of this water and well sweep up the debrea? i dont want to leave a big mess for such a little fire."
*i hear my low air alarm going off and see that the smoke has cleared so i take off my mask and survey the damage.*
'Not to bad. we pulled all the burned drywall and ceiling fires'*i say to myself*
"Command to COPA do you have an ETA on our EMS unit?"

" Pump-11 Copies Ladder 1 Im sending in Anders and Matthews to assist. "

' Hey tim, Jack can you guys get ito the school and help with Clean-up, grab the Shop Vac off the Ladder and just help with water clean-up. '

* I stand up and start looking around for any signs of an EMS unit. *

'Ya Lt. we are doing ok. We still have about 1/2 a bottle of O2.'

*I go to the Pump and grab the wet vac and Tim grabs the squeggie and broom. I begin in to the building with Tim beside me and we walk past the two fans in the door way. I turn to go down the halway towards the boiler room.

'You think they will have school tomorrow Tim?'

( Ok Pump-11 crew Do NOT post anything else here until EMS arrives or we are requested to do so by the OSC. Look at the number of our posts vs. the number of the Ladder's Posts. "P11 Van Der Water, recieved."

*I put on a pair of med gloves and go over to the patient, screaming from the pain.*

' How is he? i ask over the screaming of the victim.

Patient: ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!! *cough, gag* F*KING DO SOMTHING ABOUT THE PAIN!!! OWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cough*

'Ok, sir, I am Casey Van Der Water with the ERTFD...

Patient: I DON'T GIVE A $HIT, NOW HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Ok, calm down, take some deep breaths, ok?

*he starts breathing deep*

'that's it. keep doing that.

Patient: starts violently coughing
Patient: 'Aghhhh........ Oh... Oh god im gonna puke!

'ok hang on.

*I reach into the jump bag and pull out the kidney shaped bowl and give it to him.

Patient: (throws up)

*I notice the vomitus is black and sooty, a sign of smoke inhalation. I pat him on the back to make him feel better*

*I get a towel and wipe his mouth off.*

*

*I bring the hose back outside and start to pack it back up*
'Heh glad that wasnt a big fire. Wouldn't be too happy to lose a school'
*I say to myself*

* i realize the smoke is beginning to go away so i take one of the box fans out of the window and bring it back to the truck, leavining on still in the cafeteria window, one in the hall, and one in the entrance*

"COPA Command, what's the situation over there?"

*I come out of the doors to change my empty bottle.*
'Yeah, but the kids would be happy about no school.'

*I pull away from the ED, hitting the lights and sirens as I pull out of the compound.*

"COPA the fire is out and we are awaiting transport for the PT. we are in the process of over haul"
*i walk out to the truck and grab a push broom, as the guys from P-11 are vacuming up the water i push the debrea into a pile for easyer disposal*
"command to Floan are you ok with taking this guy? he needs ALS"

* I take a broom and head back down and start sweeping up with bruce as jack uses the water vaccum*
' Man, good thing somebody noticed this huh? this could of gotten a lot bigger, a lot faster'

" Pump-11 Command to OSC, Copy that Beard I will ride in the back with him to hte Hospital as soon as EMS arrives. the patient is stable and is awaiting transport now. "

* I kneel next to the patient and start reassuring him that he is gonna be on the way to the ETC very shortly. *

*I pull up on-scene and park, snapping on med gloves as I get out. I walk around the back and pull out the stretcher, then head over to the patient.*

"Okay, what do we have here?"

'Howdy O'Reilly, we have a male suffering from 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his torso, face and back, Vitals are:

Pulse:61

BP:108/55

Repirations: 10 and labored.

We dont have a pulse ox yet, I dont think.

'we have him on O2, we gave him ringer's IV TKO (x2). He was in pain, so we gave him morphine, 2mp IVP. We have and are still flushing his burns with saline.

He vomited a little while ago from all of the coughing.

*I fish around in one of my pockets and pull out a notepad and pen. I jot down his vitals and injuries, then replace them.*

"Alright. I'm gonna need a medic riding. Who's it gonna be? Also, do you need more saline?"

'we're all set on saline.

Me: *I introduce O'Reilly*

Patient: Ahhhghh... nice to meet you Mr. O'Reilly... Oww...

"Alright, good."

*I crouch down next to the man as Van Der Water introduces me.*

"Call me Angus."

*I look at Van Der Water.*

"Ready to transport?"

'Yeah, Lets go.

Me: Ok sir, we are going to take you to the hospital, Ok?

Patient: Let's... Go... Owwwww...

"Great. I'll take his arms, you take his legs."

*I lower the stretcher and manuever it next to the man, then move to his head and place my arms under his.*

"On the count of three. One...two...three!"

" Floan, we're wrapping it up in here, any other orders?"

" Pump-11 Command to Matthews, Negative we r good outside as soon as this patient is transported. See if beard has anything else, if not Im gonna ride in the back of the Ambulance for ALS and the Rig is yours for the remainder of this call. just pick me up at the ETC when your clear of the call. "

"Alright floan, was casey going along with you? so that would leave jack and i?"
*I look over to bruce*
' hey bruce, anything else here for pumper guys? we have either 1 or 2 of our guys riding with the medic and we'll pick them up at the hospital'

"OSC to all units once EMS transports we can pack up and get ready to clear"

" Negative Tim, Casey and Colwell are staying with you and Jack. I believe that Chet Kelly is still with O' Reilly, he can ride in the back as well. "

* I stand up and wait for the EMS crew to Properly Load the patient. *

" ok leu"
* I begin to pick up the fan out of the cafeteria when it drops out of the window and onto the floor*
'$hit!!!'
' well, at least these things were built for this'
* I grab it and walk it out of the school and disconnect if from the line*
* i hit the auto re-wind for the power cord*
* i then bring the last two fans out and place one back in the pumper and the other back into the ladder, and disconnect our supply line to the ladder and roll it back up and place it in the back driver side compartment*

*I grab my pack and put it back in my seat and then start picking up the hoseline and rolling it out so we can take it back to dry it at the station. I put the wet hose in the back of the truck and then start picking up some of the tools that are still left out.*

I lug the wet vac outside where I dump the water out in the grass in front of the school. I take the vac and place it back on the truck and walk back into the school to grab a fan. I see Tim got the last one in the halls so I grab the two fans at the door. and walk back to put them in the truck.

(Sorry havnt been on today guys. I just got back from a Search and Rescue that was called off (it has become search and recovery) we were toned out at around 7 and its 4AM now lol. Also, Dell should be coming on monday to finally fix Mike's PC since they messed up reparing it took two tries just to get mine fixed with them)

*I help Luekenbach start putting various tools away on the ladder and grab a water bottle and take a few sips from it*
'I'm glad the fire was too big'
*I say to Mike as he comes over to me*

*I load the patient and then climb into the driver's seat.*

"Ready to go?"

*i come out side and take my pack off then i swap out the bottles in it and place the pack in the back of the officers seat and grab my gaterade.*
'good job guys all of you did great. it went nice and smooth for the most part'

*I look around and see nothing else left to do so i climb into the drivers seat and get the truck out of pump gear and ready to leave.*
'Who wants to stop for some food on the way back, I'm buying?'

'yeah im down im starving'
*I put the TIC back in its compartment and climb into the officers seat to write my report*

Summary: LF1 was dispached to Kingston elemetary school for a reported furnace explotion, upon arrival no smoke was visable from the exterior. then the crew from ladder 1 made entery split crew, one crew went to find the fire the other went to connect to the stand pipe connection. whilst doing this the pumper crew made intery with ventalation fans and put them in place. then the search crew went and found the source of the smoke and had to force entery into the furnace room and found a small fire and the janator that had 3rd degree burns to his fave neck and torso. the crew that was sent to the stand pipe connection was summoned and came and put the small fire out in the furnace room. after this Lt. Floan treated the janator for his injurys while awaiting EMS, And the rest of the pumper crew vented and assisted the ladder crew with over haul

Comments: Everyone did very well. and followed all directions. The only confusion was the delayed responce of EMS. and the lack of the ladder crew. but all in all every one did very good

'All right cool, McDonalds it is. Are we clear yet?'

' Ready O'Reilly, lets go. '

" Pump-11 Command to OSC I will be riding in the back of the EMS unit and matthews has the truck for the remainder of the call. "

( Tim dont forget to ask OSC to clear before you come to the ETc to get me. )

I look around and it seems all the tools are picked up and all the hoses rolled. I do a walk around of the truck and shut all the compartment doors that are open. I reach in the cab and shut the lights down and disengage the pump. I put my helmet on the dash and through my jacket up on my seat and go over to matthews to talk.

'I think we got everything Tim.'

*I drive off towards the ETC*

' yea looks like it jack'
*I take my scba and notice i never used any air out of it and put it back in the seat and grab a gatorade and throw one to jack and colwell*
'alright, lets get outta here, maybe LT. will buy lunch'
* i say while laughing*
* I climb into the officers seat as jack climbs into the drivers and colwell in the back and i throw my jacket into the back and my helmet on the dash*
* I pick up the mic from the dash*
" 11 to command, are we cleared to the hospital?"
* I lean back in the seat*
