The COPA has just finalized this quarter's Equipment budget, and has alloted 500,000 dollars remaining, after essential purcahses are made, such as the new units for Station 2.
Several Things that have been brought to the attention of COPA as wanted items for equipment are:
1.Hefty Ballistic Sunglasses Kit, as summer is approaching and these would be good for all personnel. They run at $100 a piece, and you'd have the options available here Every ERT person would receive one, and group cost would be $15,000
2.NSP-1100 Safety Light Series nightstick, which is a rugged nightstick/flashlight combo. These would be purchased for police officers, and would be given the red/blue side light combo. This would allow officers to use a nightstick, a flashlight, and a traffic baton as one tool, allowing more room on your utlity belt. This would replace the current large bulky flashlight, and it would also reaplce our nightsticks, with an additional, six inch extension on the bottom of it (not shown as standard, special ERT only). These are costing $35 each, and would be issued to POLICE ONLY. An order of 50 would be placed, and it would cost 1750 for the group. See here
3. EMI: Flat-Pac EMS Response Kit, which has beenadvocated for by many of our police officers, who want a medical kit in their cars. This is basically an advanced, larger First aid kit, which would allow first due officers to provide better first aid. It would be orange and it costs $70 a peice after work has been completed on it. There owuld be one in every police unit, so group cost is going to be about $1700. This will replace only the first aid kit, and not the advanced medical supplies you may seein some paramedic's cars. See here. POLICE ONLY
4. Specialized ERT OtterBox for every phone. Estimated cost would be $8,000. This would create an Otterbox case for all ERT personnel with the ERT logo on back, as well as special added protection that is not available on standard otterboxes, as ERT TEC would also join in on the design and planning.
5. Fire-Dex: Leather Pull-On Structural Fire Boot, NFPA 1971, to replace our current Black Diamond Comfort Fit Rubber Boot. This new boot boasts all new technology and asethtic appeal. These run at 245.00 a pair, so estimated group cost of replacementwould be $12,25. This would replace current duty fire boots for FIRE DEPARTMENT ONLY. See Here.
6. Globe FootGear Quad-Certified Technical Rescue, Wildland, EMS, Liquid Splash Zipper Speed Lace Boot, NFPA boot to replace the current EMS footwear. These provide exceptional comfort, and durability. They cost 348.00 a pair, and would be for EMS only at this time. If police would like to have these as well, they canvote and if majority wants it, then it would be added to the budget. Theestimated group cost for EMS ONLY would be $8,700 for 25 pairs.
7.Vehicle modifications for Fire trucks. Many firefighters have apporached asking for a truck motto to be added to their unit, for certain decals, etc to be added. These have been approved by COPA, however will run a cost of 1000 for motto, and an additional 500 for every decal placed. This is now an option for all fire trucks. If they decide upon a motto, and agree to place it on, it will be added. EMS and police cars would all receive the same motto should they choose one, and it would cost 2500 for special detailing, such as ERT POLICE, The good guys, or another type motto to be added to all marked patrol cars. Likewise with EMS.
8. 30" FuBar Forcible entry tool. To be added in addition to current loadout on all fire trucks and SEV standard hatch. Group cost for FIRE ONLY is $1500. See here.
9. Throwboat LE, to act as a tool to help with Tactical entry and scouting the scene. This would be a primary tool for the scout, however it is also being advocated for general TAC use. See Here.
Other suggestions may also be raised at this time. Please also discuss each option as presented. Additional ones will be added if suggested and COPA approves
