As some of you know, or for those of you that are unaware, Detriot, MI has pratically become a ghost town. The city was built so large during the times that all of the automotive industries were based there but all of those jobs have now been replaced by machines or moved overseas, leaving the city empty. I read once that 99% of the fires in Detriot are arson while somthing like 85% of the houses in detriot are vacant. Just this past christmas Holiday time i was listening to the detriot scanner while chillin' at my fire hall and in a matter of about 30 min the detriot fire department had responded to about 25 working structure fires and for about 3-4 hours every single company ( engines and ladders) were busy at some sort of fire, leaving the city being filled by bearby voulnteer depts. My dad had went to detriot on a baseball trip with his co workers and showed me pictures of them driving down the road and block after block was filled with vacant, burned out buildings. he said for like every 15 vacant/burned out houses you saw there would be 1 house that was liveable and had occupants. The documentary? According to comments on youtube, they got a grant to finish it. That comment is about 4 months old. Looking at their site they're still looking for, and getting, sponsors.

Re: Detriot Fire
God bless those guys. Detroit is probably one of the most burnt out places in the country but it is a firefighters (or fire buffs) dream to work there due to the many fires haha. That would be a depressing place to live in though.

Re: Detriot Fire
Sort of like Gary. It used to be the best place to live with all the mills, but now it's abandoned and vacant and plauged by gangs and drugs. The only good place there is the Railcat's stadium, which is right by the fire department. The pumper is only staffed with 3 guys, we saw it responding one time. It's very sad...
