The groundbreaking ceremony has taken place today in Phoxlind for the new ERT fire station. ERT National Director Burke was there to break ground and make comment on station. He is quoted as saying:
"This station is meant to be not only an extension of our services, but to improve services that have been lacking in Phoxlind, such as replacing the Marine rescue unit currently handled by the PPA, and to add in three specialized rescue units to the current Phoxlind area task forces, which will allow us to respond to many more calls, such as entrapment, medical aides, and for the first time, we will be listed as a primary response station. Since the creation of ERt over 50 years ago, we've always been a secondary response, but with this, we will take all marine rescues, as well as many rescue calls within the phoxlind area on a first contact basis, not to provide help to other departments"
This station was assembled in sections at a nearby construction plant, which preprocesses small buildings for quick building. This station is expected to be completed by April 2011
