Re: What just grinds your gears in RL
The fact that my vacation in San Diego is over and I flying back home tonight. I had a great vacation here as usual, and I don't want to go home. These 8 days went way too fast, I had so much fun with my brother and my aunt. And I wish I was staying longer. I don't want to go home.
I've always said I don't want to move here because I know living here will be nothing like vacationing here (Things to do, money to make etc...) but I'm honestly leaning closer towards moving here after college and doing whatever I can to get on the San Diego Fire Department. It's just so beautiful out here.
Bye San Diego, see you probably next year.
It's been real.

Re: What just grinds your gears in RL
Well it'll get to a point where it won't be "Wanna move to San Diego?" It'll be more like "We are going to San Diego and you have no say in this decision." lol.
I don't see how somebody couldn't love san Diego though. Kelly will have to come out for a vacation and I'm sure she won't want to leave either.
They've got some is the nicest firefighters here though. Station 21 up by one of the beaches houses an engine, ladder, and medic. I went and Hung out with them for a while, then invited me to go workout with them on the beach. Did everything barefoot in the sand, just going for runs, pulling hose, doing other workouts, you know, just firefighter workouts. Then rolling up hose and carrying a block over back to the fire station.
Just the whole trip was fun. Love iT here.
Anybody looking for a new place to vacation, I highly recommend san Diego, especially in the the Pacific Beach, Mission Bay, or Downtown waterfront areas.

You ever been to Gulf Shores? Really pretty place, right on the ocean. My brother got stung by a jellyfish! We just got home today, I had a good time. Not a good place to go though if you don't like seafood.

Re: What just grinds your gears in RL
What grinds my gears? When people don't get in the !@#(&!@%$^& lane they need to be in. There has been construction in the outside lane of the road out of my neighbourhood for over three months, and it's a little rediculous that peopl e will still drive up every morning up until the lane ended road block, then try and force their way over... And the idiots on the road let them in the lane. I think it should be legal to take these people's cars and throw them into a compactor to make scrap metal to be sold for feeding starving children or something.. Obvious these people don't know how to do anything useful with it

^ So true. It's like that with car accidents, too. You see the lights from far away, you still stay in the lane that's closed. They're not blind...they should move to the other lane.

We were coming back to the station today after doing some building inspections and this dumb bitch went from the #3 lane to a parking space, cut off 2 cars and caused an accident. Of course we stopped, she got out and proceeded to walk inside the Courthouse like nothing happened.
The worst part is NOTHING can be done to her since her vehicle never impacted the other. and other than Hear say or people's word against hers there is no physical proof she did anything wrong so the cops let her go.

I feel safer flying a helicopter alone than I do most days on the roads.. My car is equipped with rear and front warning lights, emergency medical kits, a rescue kit and flares, because I'm expecting at least one car accident to happen nearby when I drive, and I have to stop, so I figure better prepared, and if I light my car up, and they hit it, well it's their own damn fault, and I get to beat the crap out of them, and their wallets, in court

Re: What just grinds your gears in RL
Nope, people of all ages trust me. Teenagers are bad, so are people all the way up to the grave. Just different types of bad. My neighbourhood, as I said, has one lane going into it, on a four lane road, so traffic is usually bad, but there is this one fat guy, that drives no faster than 15mph ever. He can't really get at the steering wheel very well because his stomach/man-boobs get in the way, so he creates a huge line of traffic. And if he sees a red light a mile away, he slows down. Because you can't make a stop within 100 ft if you're going 15mph clearly.... I've seen people keep pace with him on bikes without breaking a sweat.

Re: What just grinds your gears in RL
I've got a roll of gauze that I play with during traffic, a pen, some loose change, a bunch of papers, a pocket knife, and my ems jacket that I have never used once because I either have my job shirt on or a rain jacket that's kept in all the ambulances.
lol I'm sorry, I just don't feel it's necessary to have some many lights and carry so much in your personal car. I guess it depends on the area. I'm in a pretty much all paid area, but if you guys are in volley areas then I guess I can understand.
That's what grinds my gears though, wackers. I hate them in my area more than anything. It says for courtesy lights, all you need is a simple blue dash light. Putting lights all over the car is totally unnecessary, and a complete waste of money. Then they just take their scanners, and go chaser down fires around the area. And try their best to show off to everybody that they are the coolest person in the world because they're volunteer firefighters.
I'm not saying I don't like volunteers, I'm just saying I don't like the ones that are wackers and think they're the coolest people in the world.

Re: What just grinds your gears in RL
My gear loudout totally consists of:
A medical response bag in the trunk, some warning lights so I can't be easily hit when the trunk is open. A lot of areas in my city are pitch black, and people don't really watch out unless they see flashing lights, so I use them as a way to make my car more visible, and I was advised to have them so if I get hit, I automatically win in court. I also have a magnetic blue light I stick where ever needed. It's mostly used only if I'm at an accident and need to be seen (dark night) but I have used it for responding or whatever. I have a rescue knife that I take everywhere, as well as a roadside emergency kit in my trunk's emergency compartment (it came built in, don't worry) and I have two flares, the little battery operated ones. Someone ran over them, and they don't fit in the case anymore, so instead of the department throwing them out, I took them, they still work, just misshapen. I have only ever used those once, I was on the highway and needed to do a left tire change, so I marked the road, in hopes I wouldn't be hit. I don't have a vest in my car or anything, and our highways are not lit at all.

Re: What just grinds your gears in RL
We have a Vol. Chief like that, He uses F---er with everything and tries to show off eventhough he is a fully grown man and is only 5'4 and about 130 ish pounds soaking wet. I love it when we do an assist and he tries to pull rank on me when we roll up LOLOL. Yea dude not gonna Happen I realize im a Captain but im a Paid Career FF Captain and I went through ALOT more than a vote by the members to get to where I am. but other than that guy the Vol. guys out here are actually pretty down to earth. they dont think much of us Paid guys though but oh well.
But back to the drivers It happened again today, the same area but at the intersection. We literally were at the stop light waiting to turn left when a person 2 cars in front os us decided to " Beat " the pedestrians and get across the intersection before they did, but they failed to realize that 1 of the pedestrians ( WAS ) a jogger. I mean it was brutal.

Re: What just grinds your gears in RL
we have real bad drivers here in Boston too. I drive in a huge truck well not huge but an SUV so yeah anyways I can't drive down the street without beeping at an idiot, or stepping on the brakes really hard to avoid hitting a car or pedestrian. We have crosswalks for a reason, not for people to not use them and run across the street like an idiot. We have jay walking (misdemeanor) but its still illegal to do. I sware when I am Mayor I will make sure the cops enforce this law. ITS A LAW FOR A REASON but thats what grinds my gears...

Here if it has the crossing lights then you don't have to stop for them if they just walk out. If it doesn't then you have to stop for them. But, are drivers are the worst. Speed up in passing zones them slow back down. Pull out in front of my ambulance, tailgate, follow us when we run code. One reason my partner and myself won't run it unless it's serious. I love the rear load lights though. Just flip them on and people will back off. Haha

O.o Best...idea...ever! But that would take a while. I think it would depend on where you would put the station though. You can't really put them in cities unless the cities need more coverage of their area and wouldn't that be like a federal thing if it were put around nationally?

it wouldn't be a part of the government. It'd be a non profit organization, therefore no tax payer money would be needed.

Re: What just grinds your gears in RL
We'd operate like all other national profits. We'd have local departments/offices then division (statewide), district (region) and national. We'd mainly operate out of local offices obviously where division, district and national would be the bosses chiefs, captains, etc.. We will get donated gear and equipment. This is just an idea not actually gonna happen but we won't really have departments just the additional manpower.
