*I jog out to my gear and step into my turnout pants and throw my jacket on but don't velcro it up. I reach under my seat and grab my mechanics gloves and put my headset on*
'Ready to Roll Lt. can you ask copa for a scene report are all vehicles upright on there wheels.'

*I close the door behind me.*
'Not yet. I seen two different locations here.'
*I move the EAT towards me again.*
'That's weird. Head to Ninth and Empire. We'll try that place first.'

((From EAT))

'Sorry Lt. you know I can't drive I think I had my EVOC cert removed i'm a danger'
*I laugh to myself*

"10-4 COPA."
'Wow, that's embarrassing. Ok, hopefully Mitch gets in quick so we could go. C'mon Mitch!!'
*I yell from the open side window.*
"Rescue 1 to COPA, our ETA will be 2 minutes."

(meh oh crap...mitch is in australia....it's like 5am there....)

*Mitch jumps in and drives out. I switch the siren as the big truck slowly makes turns and I close my eyes quickly to take in the sound of that beautiful engine. Before I know it, we're on scene.*
"Rescue 1 on scene. COPA, we have no overturned vehicles but one vehicle is up against a telephone pole. Can we get TEC here to shut down the power to these poles and do you have an ETA of the ambulances?"
*I jump out and put on my traffic vest. I then grab a supply line and hook it to the hydrant.*
'Moon, don't try to open the doors because of the wires. Mitch, pull a line out but lets not charge it yet. Oh Moon, if the doors aren't opening when the wires are removed, grab a combi tool. I'll get the generator going for you. Mitch, after pulling hose, I want you to grab your jump bag and put it on the bumper so we could start treating as soon as we get them out. Remember to put on your vests guys.'

'yeah right'
*I leave my jacket unbuttoned but throw my helmet on my head. I walk to the back of the truck and roll up the panel that holds the combi tools and pull out the larger of the set. and set it on the ground. Then I head to the otehr side of the truck and open up the compartment holding all the bran new hard plastic cribbing. and pull the barrels of it out and around to the other side.*

(I'll be gone for about 4-5 hrs so godmod if needed)
'Alright.'
*I grab some cones out of one of the compartments and put it around the truck and car accident. I start to try to redirect some traffic around the accident also. I look at the person in the explorer and then the chevy.*
'We're going to get you out. Hold on!'

"Sure, Hannahan!"

I walk around the new truck where the crosslays are kept, I open the compartment and grab one crosslay, attach it to the pump, drag it near the car but not too close that we can't move around it and put it down.

"Hannahan, the crosslay is in position. Starting medical treatment now."

I run and get the medic bag, I run to the car and set it down on the bumper.

Everything is in position lieutenant. What do you want me to do?"

*I walk over towards the cars and ask the people how there feeling the appear okay but it might just be the adrenalin*
'Were going to get you out as soon as we can we need to get the power cut off so we don't get shocked. What I need you to do is put your car in park and apply the parking break if your able okay'

*both drivers respond and obey.*

*I pull up on scene and cut the sirens. Hopping down, I grab the jump kit and head over to the engine.*

"Hey boys."

'Hey Angus. Hey can you do me a favor? Park your ambulance a bit farther back so people could see us a little better.'
*I run over to the car but make sure not to touch it.*
'Alright, I want you to turn off the car for me now ok? That way, it'll be safer for both of us to get you out. Do you have any neck pains guys?'
*They do so and nod no to tell me they feel alright.*
'Alright, don't worry, we'll get you out quickly.'
*I jog back to the back to the generator in the back and pull the tray out holding many of the hurst tools. I grab the generator and swith it on and attach the power cord to the tools.*
'We need hydraulic tools.'
*As I say that, a TEC truck pulls up quickly and the person runs out and goes behind the pole to turn it off. The man gives me a thumbs up.*
'Can I take the wire off myself?'
Yeah, go ahead.
'Thanks.'
*I run over to the car and check each of the doors which are either locked or busted in.*
'Alright Moon, I'll be using the spreaders here. Go over to that explorer. Check on that guy and bring some windshield cutters with you and shatterproof tape (I forgot the technical term for it).'
*I jog over to the truck and grab the spreaders in my hand.*
'Alright Mitch, bring your line over here.'

"EMS-1 is out."

*I pull around and ahead of the accident, park, Press the anti-theft button and take the keys out, putting them in my pocket, then I step out. Jaime grabs the chart, and I walk around to grab the jump bag, and put the strap over my shoulder. I shut the cabinet door, and walk up to the scene. I see John with the spreaders, and walk with him as he walks back to the car*

'Hey John, you talked to the patients? You know the extent of their injuries?'

'No. They say that there neck doesn't hurt here though. I don't really know about the guy in the explorer. Can you back up for me, I don't want crap hitting you.'
*I start up the spreader and begin to pull the door from the nader pin.*

* I head over to the man in the explorer.*
'Sir how are you doing'
*He doesn't respond.*
'I say it louder sir and tap on the window he still doesn't respond'
'Lt. get and ALS transport ASAP he's lost consciousness I gotta get him out.'
*I reach into my right pocket and pull out my window breaker and press it against the back window and reach in and open the door. I check for a pulse*
'Mitch get over here I need leads I have an extremely rapid heart rate I need you to hook him up to the monitor'
'Lt. you might want to notify COPA we might need collision investigation'

(Goodnight guys)
'Alright. Angus, you take the explorer and Doug, stay with me.'
"Rescue 1 to COPA, can we get collision investigation out here for me and do we have another EMS unit en route? If not, send us one if available."
*I snap the nader pin and I open the door with one hand. I then go over to the other side and start with that too.*
'Doug, you could get the driver. I'll free up the passenger.'

"Copy that R-1, alerting Officer Russo. What grounds does it look suspcious"

'Hey doug over here I need leads on him has a very rapid pulse unresponsive.'
"Cressler to COPA i'll send it through the EAT."
*I head back to the truck after telling doug to check the man*

((continues on EAT))

* I put the chart down and head over to the Explorer with Angus to see if he needs any assistace. *
' Angus are you alright or can I assist you at all? '

*I step back out of the truck and notice jamie stepping towards the explorer.*
'Well hey pretty lady always good to see you around. Tell me how to you want to get him out if you need help I don't know how you want him out yet.'

' Put a Collar on him and get him out, until he hits the floor here, he is your patient. Have you taken a set of Vitals yet? '

* I step back and let Cressler handle the entrapment. *

'He ain't my patient ask mitch hes our medic I just cut stuff...mitch where do you want to pull him out the door the roof or the window.'

' Well if it was me i would take the roof off, much easier to get a backboard behind him, easier for me to get next to him to treat him and easier for you to extract him, however that is just me. would you like me to do that for you lol. '

(Mitch is always going to be the medic, but in calls like this one, when a HRES is unneed, Cressler, since he's a PM can also function primarily as one.. Which means he has someone to ride with!)

(haha i could but i'm planning on letting mitch do it since he hasn't really got to do anything yet since our timezones are the exact opposite haha)

*I reach into the car and make sure the E-Brake is locked down before I leave to go get the other hydraulic pump. I head to the right side and crab the large combi tool and the take it over to the explorer and head back and bring the pump over. I give it a hard pull and it fires up like a beauty It fires up.*

'Hey Lt. I'm going to need you over hear to help hold this roof and lift it off.'

((I'm back. ))

"Hannahan, Moon really needs me. I head over there, as soon as I am done I will be back over. Just keep an eye on the other car."

I run over to Moon and tell him: "Get Jamie a spare helmet, she can get in the car with me. Extraction plan: Get the roof of, like Jamie said. She should be on the RA." I say with a chuckle.

I watch Moon go get the helmet as I wait.

*I take mine off my head and hand it to her*
'Here ya go it's brand new first time even i've had it on'
*I walk back to the rescue and grab a spare HRES helmet I have with my HRES and I grab doug a pair of gloves and a helmet as well and take them to him*
'Doug I'm gonna need your hand holding this roof and lifting it off your trained in vehicle extraction so you can help me. Hey mitch see if you can roll the driver side window down if not cover him up real quick so I can break out that window either we break it out or it shatter while I'm cutting the roof.'

I cover up the patient as Moon breaks the glass. Me and Jamie stabilize the patient and we prepare for Moon to remove the roof.

"Moon, Get this roof off. We are all prepared, take your time and make sure you do it correctly." I say with chuckle.

*I pick the combi tool up and and cut the front supports and then move and cut the rear two supports while doug helps me fold the top of the explorer backwards*

'He's all yours'

*I pop the door open by the nader pin on the other side again and now both doors are open.*
'Guys, doors are open! Moon come here and help me work on them.'
*I run to the side of the truck and grab a KED. I close the compartment and run back placing the KED down at the side of the car.*
'Anyone who's not doing anything should be over here treating these patients.'
*I grab the C-collar out of the jumpbag and place it down on the board too. I then do a rapid assessment on the driver while he's in the car. I feel on the man's arm and notice his elbow is broken ormaybe his whole arm but his elbow feels like its shredded, not dislocated. The man cries out in pain and holds his arm up explaining to me he didn't feel that before.*
'The driver is bleeding on his right leg and his left arm feels broken at the elbow.'
*After completing the rapid assessment, I get some cravats and gauze out too and start to make a sling. I start vitals and his BP turns out to be somewhat normal :100/64 and his Pulse is a little weak though: 46. His eyes are fine and his skin is fine too.*
'Alright guys, help me get this KED on him. His vitals are looking alright but his elbow may be broken.'

'Little busy LT. you want us to get the unconscious man out or the ones that are still talking to you?'

'Get the unconscious man out. I need someone who isn't doing anything to help.'
*I put the c-collar on one of the patients and hold c-spine also.*
'I need more people. Doug, I need you to hold c-spine if you're not dealing with the other patient. Sir, how are you feeling?'
A little lightheaded and my arm still hurts.
'Ok, we're going to get you out as quickly as possible ok? Just as soon as we get some more people over here ok?'
*I take one hand off of the man's head and quickly grab my mic making sure the man's head doesn't move.*
"Rescue 1 to COPA, request a PFD engine for manpower. We need some more help here. We're getting bogged down."

*I snag the jump kit and head over to Hannahan as he gets the man out and begins working him alone.*

"I'll hold C-spine."

*I put my hands in position, waiting for the LT to move.*

(This patient's on the floor now)
'Thanks.'
*I grab the trauma shears out of the bag and rib his pants up to his knee. I then grab some type and guaze. As I place the gauze on the man's knee, I use the tape and wrap it around his knee to control bleeding.*
'You want to take him?'
*I grab my mic again.*
"Rescue 1 to COPA, did you copy my last transmission?"

Me and Jamie slowly lift the patient out of the car, and set the backboard down on a stretcher. I help Jamie roll him to the Ambulance.

" He's all yours Jamie. Have a good one. Hannahan, I'll be over there in a sec."

I see the ambulance leave and I update the patient count.

Victims: 1 Extracted and transported and 2 still trapped.

(1 is trapped, 1 is out, 1 is transported)
'Mitch, get the girl inside of the car. Passenger side.'
*I grab the cravats and 2 orange wood braces. I put one brace abover and below the arm.*
'This will hurt a little ok?'
*I check PMS and see that he is doing alright for now. I wrap cravats around his arm making a sling for him.*
'Ok, we could strap him to the backboard now.'
*PPD arrive on scene and start to look around and keep crowds back and help us further with traffic.*

*I roll the stretcher to the back of the ambulance, hold it up, then push it in after Jaime raises the wheels*

'You all set, Jaime?'

*I shut the doors, walk around and put the jumpbag back in it's cabinet, then go up to the cab. I fish the keys out of my pocket, and put them in the ignition, then press the anti-theft button. I pull onto the road*

"EMS-1 to Central, transporting 1 to ERT Hospital."

*I yell at one of the PPD officers, who is just standing around observing*

"Hey! Officer!"

*He walks over*

"I need a board and the stretcher out of the ambulance. Can you get it?"

"Got it."

*He walks off towards the ambulance and returns a little bit later with them.*

"Alright, lay the board on the ground next to us so we can transfer him over."

*The officer complies.*

"Thanks, man."

'Alright lets get him on here. I'll roll him on his side and you push the board under him. 1..2..3!'
*I grab the patients pocket and shirt sleeve and roll him to the side so Angus can place the board under the patient.*

'Alright Lt. what do ya need we got him on the way to the hospital. whats the status on your patients.'

'Yeah, um get the lady in the car. She says she feels alright but just check her out.'
"Rescue 1 to COPA, you can cancel the PFD engine and put another EMS unit on standby from PEMS (only two came right?)."
*I put the man on the back board, then onto the stretcher and help Angus put the man in the ambulance.*
'You need any help in there?'

'Hi mam i'm Moon Cressler'

Lady: I don't care shut up and get me out.

'Well then okay I need to put this collar around your necck'

Lady: 'They he!! you are'

'Uh lt. can I talk to you real quick'

*I walk over to Lt.*

'Hey get copa on the line this is the woman I saw hiding alcohol under the seat and she is being very combative.'

"Rescue 1, confirm you want PEMS to standby, and not respond? EMS-1 should should be arriving at the hospital shortly, I can have them come back."

*I pull the phone out from the back of my desk toward me, and locate the speed dial button for Phoxlind Communications.*

"Rescue 1 to COPA, let them clear up. Have PEMS respond code 3 with PPD to assist. We have a combative patient in the car and it looks as if she has some beer under her seat. She's not letting us treat her."
*I back up and look at the ambulance the man is in. I walk over to it and step in, the door still being open.*
'Sir, I need to ask you a question and you need to be truthful with me. Were you drinking at all?'
I drank one bottle I swear! But I was fine when I was driving! She...she kinda started going crazy because she drank too much and she grabbed my steering wheel and...'
*The man starts to sob. I then wave a police officer over but he nods that he can't since he's busy with traffic.*
'Ok. Angus stay here for a while so the police can get a report from him.'
*I get out of the truck and start cleaning up a bit. I put the spreaders back in the truck as well as stop water flow to the line. I disconnect the supply and put it back and shut off the pump ultimately. I then walk back over to Moon.*
'Imma see if I could talk her down.'
*I walk over to the lady.*
'Ma'am.'
What?! She says in a somewhat drunken stupor.
'I need to put this collar on you so we could bring you to the hospital' I say kneeling right next to her.'
Why! I feel fine.
'Ok. I don't think you're fine though. This is a pretty serious accident and....'
Just leave me alone ok! I'll be fine. I just need to call my husband.
'Ma'am, you're husband is in the ambulance. He won't be able to answer the phone.'
Bring him back here now! Why would you put him in there?!
'Ok ma'am, I'll leave you alone for a while ok?'
*I walk back over to Moon. That didn't go over well.*

'Yeah if we already had in a line in her i'd just sedate her but I'm not really sure what to do with ehr like that'

"Received Rescue 1, notifying Phoxlind now."

*I Call Phoxlind dispatch

'Hi this is Kelly McGuire from ERT COPA, the fire department is out with an MVA at 9th and Empire, they need a Phoxlind Ambulance for transport, and a police unit to assist with e a defensive patient'

*I hang up with Phoxlind, after telling me units are responding.

"Central to Rescue 1, you have Phoxlind EMS-2, and a police unit responding."

"Thanks COPA. Also, can you get two tows to come out and stage a block out so we can get these cars off of the road?"
'Hope she stays there long though heh.'

'you should hold off on the tows until the investigator gets here i'd leave that up to him'
