*I sit up in bed as the tones go out.*

"All EMS units please report to station for active duty call immediately. Please complete all current calls and return to depot for active duty standby. Hieghtened alert. All units on duty. More information to follow. MCU will be on standby for mass triage alerts. EMS Deputy Chief will escort, ED-1 will transfer to MCU for this current time. All Units on Active Standby Duty at depot for standby alert"


"Oh no. Something big is going down."

*I snatch a brand-new bulletproof vest from a shelf in my coset and tug it on over my undershirt. I then throw my uniform on and dash to my POV, cranking it up and driving it away, being sure not to speed since I wasn't running code.*

*I pull into my driveway and walk in after unlocking my door. I undress and crash face-down onto my bed. I immediately begin snoring.*

*I wake up and check the clock.*

"Jeez, I've slept for a while."

*I get a shower and get dressed. After eating some cereal, I head out to my POV and head to the station.*

*I park and go inside, going straight to the bedroom and crashing.*

*I pull up in the driveway and park. I climb out, yawning. Heading inside, I take a shower and head to bed.*

*I wake up and look at my clock, to realize I have slept for a long time. I get up and take another shower, then get dressed in my ERT uniform. I head to my desk and unlock the locked drawer. I take a canister of Mace out and conceal it in my uniform. I then shut and relock the drawer, then leave in my POV, heading to the Complex.*

*I pull up in front and get out, taking my food from the Quik-Stop with me. I head inside and lock the door, then sit down and eat. I go take a shower, then climb in bed and turn on the TV.*

*I wake up and take a shower, then fix an egg sandwich and eat it. I get dressed in my uniform, then head out to the complex.*

*I get up and head into the kitchen, then begin to rummage around. I pull some bacon and a pack of lunch meat turkey out of the fridge and set them on the counter, then throw the bacon in the frying pan. Once it's done, I fix up a turkey-and-bacon sandwich. I sit down and eat, then clean up the kitchen. I throw my uniform on, then head out to my truck and head out.*

*I pull up in front and carry the kitten and associated items in. I put the litterbox and cat food in the laundry room, putting the litter on one side and food on the other, then set the carrier down and open the door. The kitten wandered out and begins exploring. I smile and walk to my bedroom and change into jeans and an ERT T-shirt, then head back into the laundry room. Judging from the litterbox, the kitten was litterbox-trained. I sit down and watch the cat begin exploring.*

*After watching the kitten explore the house for several hours, I go to sleep.*

--------In the Morning---------
*I wake up to find the kitten curled up on my chest, deeply asleep. I sigh.*

"Come on, I have to get up."

*The kitten cracks an eyelid and looks at me. He stands up and proceeds to knead my chest--with his claws out. I grit my teeth, knowing he's about to go back to sleep. He lays back down, and I gently pick him up and lay him on the bed, where he snuggles into my pillow and goes back to sleep. I walk into the kitchen and fix myself a bowl of corn flakes and milk, then head into the living room to eat and watch TV.*

*I wash the bowl and spoon after I'm finished eating, then head back into the living room. The kitten walks in on wobbly legs, and looks around. I pick up a catnip-filled mouse and drop it on the floor, to see the kitten's reaction. He walked over and sniffed, then promptly batted it with a paw. I move my feet out of the dangar zone and up onto the couch as the kitten continues to bat the mouse around the living room.*

*After an hour or so of playing with the kitten, I heade into my study and hop on the Internet for a few hours, then do various things around the house. At around 6, I get up and head out to my truck and get in. I head towards Phoxlind to pick up some pizza for dinner.*

*I pull back in and carry my pizza inside, being sure not to trip over the kitten. I put my stuff down on the table and eat. I put the remaining pizza in the fridge, then climb in bed. I turn the TV on and start to fall asleep while watching House as the kitten curls up next to me.*

*I wake up with the kitten on my chest--again. I pick him up and set him down on my pillow as I get up and head to the shower. When I get out of the shower, I make an egg, ham, and cheese sanwich, then put my uniform on and get into my truck. I crank it up and leave, heading to the Complex.*

*I pull up outside and bring the groceries in. I put them up, then go clean the litterbox. After that's finished, I wash my hands and eat, then go looking for the kitten. I find him batting a mouse around the study."

"There you are."

*He meows. I smile down at him and head into the living room. I turn on the 360 I brought from NY and pop in Dead Rising.*

*After a few hours of playing Dead Rising, I head to bed.*
-------------In the Morning----------------
*I get up and glance over at my clock. It's almost 11, well past when I usually get up. I get up and fix breakfast, then get dressed in my uniform and head out to the Complex.*

*I park in my garage and get out. I head in and take a shower, then give the kitten food and water, and clean his litterbox. I get dressed in a different uniform, then head back out to my truck.*

*I park my truck in the garage and head inside. I clean the cat's litterbox and give him food and water, then go out to my truck and get my overnight bag. I bring it back in, then wash the clothes both in it and from the house. I then repack my overnight bag and set it beside the door into the garage, so I can get it if I need to leave during the night. I then take a shower, then get on the computer to surf the Web.*

*I get up and do a few other things around the house, then head to bed.*
------------In The Morning---------------
*I get up and eat breakfast, then get in my truck to go drive around Phoxlind.*

*I park my truck in the garage and take the special ingredient in. I put it on the counter and then go feed the kitten and water him and clean his litterbox. I then start making the brownies, being sure to make two batches--one with the special ingredient and one without.*

*I finish making the brownies, put them on the counter to cool, and head to bed after taking a shower.*

*I wake up to find the kitten curled up between my neck and head.*

"Much easier to get up this way, Smoky."

*The cat cracks an eye at me and meows.*

"Yeah,yeah, go back to sleep."

*The kitten obliges as I get up and go eat cereal, then get my overnight bag and both plates of brownies. I take them out to my truck and put them in, then go dig around for a bottle of syrup. Quickly finding one, I take it out to my truck and leave.*

( special ingredient?? hmmm.....)

*I come back in and take care of the cat. I fish around in my wallet and pull out the number I had managed to secure a while ago, at the pizza joint. I dial it, then step outside.*

"Hey, Katherine. This is Angus, the EMT. Remember me?"

"Oh, yeah. I was wondering if you were ever going to call me."

"Yeah, sorry about that. I've been pretty busy since I met you. I'm free tonight, wanna go out to dinner?"

"Definitely."

"Do you like Japanese?"

"Yeah!"

"Great. I'll pick you up at seven. That okay?"

"Sure!"

"Alright, see you later."

"Bye.

"Bye."

*I hang up, then get a shower so I can pick her up at seven.*

*I get out of the shower and towel off, then get dressed and head out to my truck.*

*I park in my garage and head inside. I immediately go to sleep.*

*I get up and go about my various morning business, then get my overnight bag and head to the Complex.*
