The View Restaurant Empty The View Restaurant

Post by C. Jackson Sat Jan 22, 2011 3:54 pm

    Welcome to The View Restaurant

On the 10th floor of a high-rise building, the whole circular floor is for the restaurant, the elevator shaft is in the middle and as you step out, you see a spectacular view of the metropolitan area. Surrounding the elevator shaft is a large circular bar, with a few barmen and waiters gathered around, with the regulars with their spirits.

The room spreads out, tables surrounding the area, with a small section in the corner for a dumb waiter, as the food comes from the floor below, on the northern side of the building, there are lots of glass doors, leading onto a large balcony, which you can sip your drinks on, or eat out on in the summer, outside there is another, smaller bar and a large barbecue area for the the summer food.

Also upstairs there is a private bar for parties and bookings, with a few wide screen TVs, another bar and a space for bands to play sometimes.

    Party Booking

    Party Name (Surname of Booking):
    Number in Party:
    Time you want reserved:
    Special Requests:

    Notes
    1) You can godmod the waiters and barmen in here, starting conversations with them
    2) There are other city staff in the area, and of course, converse with them
    3) The food available is quite nice, think a mix of the best of world cuisine, no fast food.
    4) Certain days get special menu ideas.
    5) Be realistic to a point, don't get your steak within a few seconds, and don't wait twenty-five minutes for a Diet Pepsi.
    6) Enjoy

**I arrive at the restaurant. It's on the top floor, sharing the multi-story building with a number of offices and shops on the lower levels. I park my car at the back of the building, which has a large open parking lot, and go inside to take the express elevator to the restaurant at the top. I step out into a small room leading into the restaurant itself. The hostess is behind a podium with a stack of menus.**

Hostess: 'Good afternoon, sir! Are you waiting for someone, or are you dining alone?'
Me: 'I'm by myself right now. Is there a table open?'
Hostess: 'Yes, we do have a table open by the window. Please follow me.'

**I am led to my table by the hostess, who leaves me with a menu and a glass of water. After about a minute, a waiter comes over to take my order.**

Waiter: 'Hello, I'm Michael. I'll be your server this afternoon. Can I start you off with something to drink?'
    Me: 'I think I'll have a Coke'
Waiter: 'If I could suggest...we have a wide variety of beers on tap-'
Me: 'Thank you, but I don't drink alcohol.'
Waiter: *writing* 'OK. I'll get your drink for you and give you some time to make a selection. The special that we have today is fresh swordfish, grilled.'

**I go through the menu options, considering budget and food quality. A few minutes go by before I get my Coke, but I'm still not sure what to get.**

((Anyone with free time can join; it'd be nice to start a dialogue without it being totally godmodded.))

*I back the ambulance into a parking space at the end of the parking lot. I press the idle button, put the keys on a belt loop, grab a portable radio, and clip to to my belt, then clip the mic to my shirt. I walk in to the hostess desk.*

    'Hi, 2?'

'Actually, could we get it to go?'

'Sure, do you need a menu or do you know what you would like.'

'Well I'm just going to have a cheeseburger, and with a side of fries.'

    'Anything to drink?'

    'Not for me.'

*I look at the window at passing traffic, then at the ambulance, then look around the restaurant and spot Bucello.*

'Masto, you can get whatever you want, I'll pay for it tonight. I'm going to go talk to Jaime.'

*I walk over and sit in the booth across from Bucello.*

'Hey, how ya' doing, Jaime? You here by yourself?'

'Just about. I can't stay cooped up in my tiny apartment forever. Part of me didn't realize how small it was until I really started living there for a while.'

    **The waiter comes back over.**

Waiter: 'Have you made a choice?'
Me: 'I think I'll skip an apetizer and have the Double Burger. Can I have that meduim-well without any onions?'
Waiter: 'Absolutely. I'll put in an order for that. And that comes with a side of either regular or sweet potato fries, unless you want to switch that out for something else.'
Me: 'Sweet potato fries sound good.'
    Waiter: 'Alright. And you?'

    **The waiter gestures to McGuire.**

ME 'I'm good thanks, I ordered takeout with the hostess.'

WAITER 'Alright, well I'll have your order right up sir, and I'll see how your takeout is doing.'

**The waiter walks off putting his notepad in his apron pocket. We walks over to the computer, opens his book, types some stuff in, then walks into the kitchen.

'Yeah, I know that feeling. Better getting some decent food here rather than a microwave meal or snacking all night.'

'Very true. I have to stay in top shape if I want to perform on TAC. In any case, I need to have people around - if only one. Between the TAC firing range and my apartment, there isn't much of a chance to meet people, so I'll probably be using my down time to get out a little more.'

'Well, we go in with the knowledge that you're right outside if we're ever in any trouble. We might be the ones in the firefight, but we sure aren't bulletproof. That's where you come in. There's plenty of guys alive today that wouldn't be if it weren't for you.'

**The waiter comes back with a Double Burger with sweet potato fries for me, as well as a styrofoam box in a paper bag with the restaurant logo for McGuire. I start eating as Doug opens the styrofoam box to check its contents. It's a cheeseburger, with a rather generous helping of fries on the left side of the box.**

*I close the box and put it back in the bag.*

'Yeah, well. All the departments at ERT do something special to help in our own way, and in the end when all of the departments come together, we all have the same goal in the end. Keeping the Trulit/Phoxlind area safe, and getting the paycheck, haha.'

*I stand up smiling, and grab the bag.*

'Nice talking to you Jaime, I'll see you back at ERT tomorrow or whenever you're on duty again.'

*I walk up to the hostess desk, pay fro the food, grab a mint candy out of the bowl, and walk out to BLS-1. I put the food on the floor behind the center console, put the keys in the ignition, press the idle button to take it out of idle, pull out into the road and drive back to base.*

    'See you later; take care!'

**I begin eating, knowing that I'll probably need to run the "breach and clear" course at the training site to keep fit after a meal like this. As I'm eating, one of the waitresses passes by my table and talks quickly to the person serving my table. I finish eating and call over to my waiter, but it's the waitress who responds.**

Me: 'Are you taking over serving this table?'
Waitress: 'He got assigned more tables than he was supposed to, so I'm helping him. I'm Sharon.'
Me: 'Well, I'm about finished here; could I have a box to take the rest home in?
    Waitress: 'Sure!'
Me: 'And can I also have the check?'
Waitress: 'No problem. By the way, I couldn't help but notice the radio. Are you a police officer?'
Me: 'As a matter of fact, yes.'
Waitress: 'Sounds like an interesting job!'

**I decide not to bring up that I'm on what's essentially the SWAT team. It might come across as showing off. She walks away to get the check and a styrofoam box and returns with them a short while later. I put my MasterCard in the card holder and mark that I'd like to give a 20% tip. She returns to swipe the card; I sign the credit card slip and put my card away.**

Waitress: 'Thank you! I hope to see you back in here! Do you come here often?'
Me: 'No, this is my first time.'
Waitress: 'Same here; I'm new to the job.'
    Me: 'You just started?'
Waitress: 'Yeah, I've been going back to school, and so to keep up the rent on my apartment, I had to get another job.'
Me: 'That's too bad. What apartment?.'
Waitress: 'It's on Phoxlind Road - 770 Phoxlind Road.'
Me: 'No way! I'm just down the street; I'm at 778.'
Waitress: 'Well, I'll keep an eye out for you. Enjoy your day!'

**I walk out, glad to have met someone who lives so close to me. I take the elevator to ground level and walk out to the parking lot. My car is parked at the far end. I get in and drive to the ERT compound.**

I look down just as I'm paying for my meal to see my cell phone, which is second in line at the ERT for 911 calls ringing loudly. I answer the call and take information down on my notepad. After paying, I get my family into my pickup and report the information over my mobile COPA terminal before responding to the Complex, to take command.

*I park in the restaurants parking lot in a somewhat lopsided manner. As I step out of the car, I see what it looks like. The rear of the car is mostly in its place but the front of the car is faced diagonally.*
'I'm good. I'll work on parking later.'
*I smile as I look back at my car. I start to walk toward the eatery gently tossing my keys low in the air and catching it. I clip it to my buckle just as I get to the door. I open the door and walk inside.*
Welcome sir. How are you doing this fine evening?
    'I'm fine ma'am.'
    Good. seating for 1?
    'Yes.'
Ok, we have a spot for you near the window hear if thats alright?
    'Yes, that's fine.'
*I smile at the waitress as she guides me to my seat. Its a good sized table fit for two people with two chairs. I take one and look through my menu.*
Sir, do you want anything to drink? Oh, wait... your part of the ERT Fire department right?
'Yes' I say with a smile.
Good. That means you'll be getting a discount on your food.
    'Alright. Sounds good.'
Is there anything you would like to drink?
'Yes ma'am. I would like the pink lemonade and I already cam up with dinner here hehe.'
    Wow, that was fast.
*The waitress takes out her small notepad and pen and begins to write.*
'I would like the Bacon Cheeseburger with a small amount of onion rings.'
Ok.... Alright, pink lemonade and Bacon Cheeseburger with a small amount of onion rings?
    'Yes.'
Alrighty, You're food will be ready in a few minutes. The lemonade shouldn't take too long.
    'Ok, thank you.'
*I look up at the TV showing football as it always does near the bar while I wait for my food.*

*I come back to the restarant in my POV once again and park in the same empty spot as before. I come in and see the same waitress waiting on other tables.*
Oh, your food is here now sir. Your seat's still empty too.
    'Ok, thank you.'
*I sit in my same seat and about 30 seconds after doing so, the lady comes back with my food hot and ready still.*
    'Thank you.'
Your welcome. If you need anything, let me know.
    'I sure will.'
*I take a bite into my burger and close my eyes to taste the goodness in the sandwich. I then sit back and slowly eat my food. I then finish eating, get my bill, pay it, then head home.*

*I step out my car grabbing my portable radio, I clip the radio to my belt, turning it on, then clip the mic to the zippered part of my job shirt. I turn it on transmitting on ERT channels, and scanning Phoxlind & Trulit channels*

*We walk into the empty restaurant, with waiters getting tables ready for the day.*

'Dine in?' A waiter yells from across the room.

    'Yeah.' I reply.

    *Okay sit anywhere*

*We walk over to a window booth seat, and a waiter brings over two menus.*

"Central to EMS-3." *I hear over the radio and a Phoxlind channel, I turn down the volume a little bit*

*We skim the menu and order, the waiter takes are menus*

'Been to some Devils games recently?'

'Yeah me and Elena share season tickets.'

'Oh cool, I miss the devils Fun games to see live.'

'Yeah, they're always fun. Love Rangers/Devils games. Fights on the ice, in the stands, and on the streets. They're always fun.'

'Yeah, I miss those. Watching them on TV isn't the same, and they're hard to find on the channels out here.'

*The waiter brings our food, we eat it. I leave enough money for the meals and a tip on the table and we walk out*

*I say into the radio as I get out*

*I then walk into the restaurant*

*After ordering six cheesburgers fries and drinks to go, I pay and wait for them*

*I happen to see Beard and Jess*

    *I walk up to them*

    'Remember there are kids present'

    *I say with a smile*

'Well I have to go my orders ready, yall enjoy your date'

*I say with a laugh as I grab my order and get back in the truck*

*I back my jeep into a parking spot, and me and Samantha walk toward the front door, as we approach it I open it for samantha*

*As soon as we walk in the waiter sees us*

    'Will there be just one?'

    'Yes'

*He leads us to a table and we sit down*

*After ordering two burger/fries/and coke to go I wait for my order*

    *I notice my food coming*

    'Wow, that was fast.'

*I pay the bill and leave a tip and we head out to my jeep*

*As I pull out of the parking lot and I notice i'm low on gas and head to the gas station*
