C'mon, there's a fire! That's classic and immensely common in NYC! Happens about everyday at least in one borough haha. The woman should've been taken offf the bus and the firefighters should've drive4n the truck.

Then don't make it your dream unless you're going to do it. Hey Mike, try being with another department for a few years then try out for FDNY. It's really hard to get into (giggity) and they're very strict on you. Does things in their training academy that others don't. And the EVOC classes are waay longer haha.

It's just complete and utter stupidity on her part. But, one day we had to jump and drive on the sidewalk because of stupid people. Not completely safe, but when someone has chest pains gotta do what you gotta do.

Where I lived and studied a couple of years ago, Bergen, there are many, MANY narrow streets outside the city, and the area is pretty densely populated. In most of these streets you aren't allowed to park, because ambulances and fire trucks can't get past.

Have a flip through that album. It's the parking enforcement's own pictures.

FYI, the yellow sign in one of the later pictures says "Remember that fire trucks need 3 meter clearance." And right behind it two cars are parked leaving...what, half a meter of clearance? Stupid people.

Re: emergency storys
One day, I was riding on the ambo and we got a seizure call. Engine on scene when we got there so everything is going alright and we're making progress. Just then, I firefighter forgets to turn his ringer off and a Law and Order ringtone comes on while we're treating the patient and everyone tries to keep from smiling. It was sorta funny until the guy had another seizure. We got him to the ambulance and he got a bit combative but after one of the woman firefighters held his hand, he calmed right down. It was a gross call since it was the first time I've seen foam come out of the man's mouth. It was quite disturbing but a somewhat good call nonetheless.

Re: emergency storys
Okay, so I was coming home from the movies yesterday. We were at a stoplight, these kids in a green car next to me, were playing loud music, the light changes and they go speeding off, so about 10 minutes past and we're at the next lights. We hear sirens, and 2 police cars are trying to get through. We couldn't pull over, there's 2 cars in front of us, 2 in back, 2 on each sides, but they got through, they go up ahead of us, as we approach we notice an amubulance and a fire truck and a car,it was slammed into the side of a telephone pole, the whole front end gone, It was a black sedon and down in the ditch was another car....That green car that recently passed us.It looks like they tried making a turn going too fast.
Wow that foam out of mouth is kind of weird.I wonder if that happened to me when I had my seizure...I don't wanna think about it.I do remember though I put up a fight with the Paramedics, I did not want to get into the ambulance.Haha, I told them I was fine and my friends were stupid for calling 911.XD

Re: emergency storys
Tough story man. That sounds creepy. Yup, the guy was combative and I always said 'Ohhh, I wanna suction the mouth! It shouldn't be gross at all!' It was like the PT was blowing while the foam was coming out so it kinda spurting out of his mouth aaaagggghghh! It's too weird to say haha. I never wanna suction now. Thank goodness for that female firefighter though.

Re: emergency storys
So whats some calls that bothered you?
I've had fellow classmates give me crap because this one bothered you. But, there is just that certain call that really gets to you. And this was mine.
One for me was when I was doing my hospital hours and they brought in a 7 year old kid, he was riding a skate board and fell and hit his head. He has severe hemorrhaging in his skull. He was in so much pain and just kept screaming out because of the pain, and when any lights were turned on. They gave him pain meds and it wasn't doing him any good. I stayed in his room until Childrens Hospital sent their helicopter "Angel 1" to pick him up. I talked with the flight nurse and flight medic and they said it didn't look good for him. I never did hear how he came out. But, ever since that day I have thought about it at least once a day and pray he made it.

Seen some pretty nasty stuff myself, heard a horror story in Williamsburg VA. Drunk driver in a truck wrong way on I95, hit this kid head on at at least 90mph. The license plate for his car was found in the victims trunk. Think about that.

Re: emergency storys
Nope, never heard that. Just a couple days ago, there was this truck getting pulled over by the Sheriffs (nice unmarked Chargers). Then town and state police cars pulled up. The town cars left and then we saw another one go by. I asked my dad to follow them to see what was goin on.
There was a car that went through the middle of the road and into the grass on the other side. Mother was dead, in the car with her son. He was 4 years old and sitting on her lap, steered the car into the other lane, but no other cars involved.

Re: emergency storys
Nice..... we had one here a drunk couple driving in a 30 mph zone around 100 mph smash into a pole, tore the girls leg off, guy survived just fine, girl died.
Had a truck slam into a car waiting to turn, pushed the back window right behind her head, back wheel could be touched from drivers seat. Amazingly she only broke her pelvis and no one else in the car, 18 y/o in truck ok.

Re: emergency storys
Heh, I remember hearing one concerning two semis. I don't remember if it actually happened--pretty sure it did. I can't remember where, either. Somewehere up North, I think. But anyway, two semis had a head-on collision, and the fronts of the trucks were fused together. So, the trucks get taken off to a junkyard. A few weeks later, the workers began noticing a smell coming from the trucks. They pulled them apart, and there was a minivan with a family between the two trucks.

We had a good MVA yesterday, guy driving home from a doctors appointment and left the road overcorrected slid to the other side of the road and rolled it at least once. Luckily wheels were down so extrication was easier. To bad I forgot to grab an extra pair of pants and a shirt. Knew I forgot something when I went to work.

Re: emergency storys
well for motorcycle accidents almost once a year one dept in the county gets tones for motorcycle vs deer. there have been numerous decapitations, and lost limbs go to this... always fun walking down the road looking or a head or leg (Iowa has no Helmet law)
Then about two years ago a man jumped off a ~80 ft dam into 5 ft water below and died. (looking for an adventure)
We have had snowmobilers in the winter get too close to the dam then take a trip trough it... they are lucky the turbine is no longer in it.
and Farm accidents, anywhere from someone going through a combine to getting ploughed, drawning in a munaure pit, and corn wagons (a kid died about 10 years ago one town over, dad went in after him also died)
Oh yes and the pesticide and amonia HAZ situations Meth labs also (they tend to make big booms, one young officer didn't wait for the FD to arrive and died due to an explosion )
Then we have your typical fires/accidents/spilled coffee/ and my house smells like gas calls.

You guys have meth labs by you huh? And wow, those are some bad incidents. The best we've had is that huge barn fire with a 16-town mutual aid.
