Car Over Docks

"911 Emergency"
Oh my God, someone just went over the edge of the docks. I can still see their car!
"Okay, is this is the phoxlind docks? Are you a worker there?"
Yeah, I am, and yes it is, I'm the supervisor. I'll get in my truck and escort the teams to the site. Hurry though, Bill can't swim
"ERT is on the way"

As the alarm sounds I shout to chuck
First call! Davis your the diver today let's go!´

I open the bay door get in my gear and put my helmet in the dash.
As I wait for Chuck I get the radio and flip on the lights "Marine 1 to COPA, show us enroute"

*I run downstairs over to the truck. I get my jacket off the seat and put it on. Then I throw my helmet on the dash and sit down. I close my door.*

'Looks like we don't need the boat today. Let's roll!'

*I set the powercall to it's original tone and trun on the wail as we pull out of the station.*

As we arrive at the docks a man with a jacket which says SUPERVISOR on the front and back.
'Guess that's our man Chuck'

I roll down my window
'Hi, i'm Lt. Jansen with the ERT Fire Department, can you show us where to go?'
'Sure, follow me!'

He get's in his truck and he leads us to the scene.
"Marine 1 to COPA, on scene"

'Okay Chuck, get on your dive gear I will set up all the lines. We have one person inside of the car'
I say as I get out and see only the roof is still visible

"Marine 1 to COPA, roof of the car is still visible, we are preparing to go in, do we have an ETA on EMS?"

"EMS en route, expect them here before you're in the water."

'Got it boss.'

*I get out of the truck and head into the back. I get out my wet and dry suits and put them on. Shortly after, I grab air tanks and a regulator out of the compartments. Then I get out my goggles and flippers.*

'Alright Jansen, I'm all set up.'

* As we near the docks We get a call for any available EMS unit to assist the Dive unit at the Docks. *

' Well Don we are the closest at least lol. why not. '

* I pick up the Radio and call in. *

" Central Medic 2 will take on that, we are 2 minutes away. "

* Dont turns the Lights on but no sirens since we are already at the entrance to the Docks. We drive up passing a couple police cruisers and eventually arrive at the site where the car wnet in. The Dive team is jsut arriving and starting ot gear up when we pull up. *

" Central Medic 2 is on Scene. "

*I shut put the ambulance into high idle, and look over at Jamie.
"You know what happened?"
((I be back!))

'Jansen, you ready with my lines yet?'

'Got it Chuck!' I say as i'm ready with his lines.

"Medic 2, Please standby for drowning victim"

" Medic 2 is standing by "

' Ok don grab the stretcher and i'll get the o2 and the ALS kit. lets start heading towards the edge where they'll pull him out of. '

'Yes Mamn.'
I go into the rear of the ambulance and open the back 2 doors and pull the stretcher out behind me. I then begin slowly wheeling it over to where the edge is.
'Wonder how this happened.' I mumble to myself.

'Ok, I'm going in.'

*I grab a seatbelt-cutter multi-tool (Yes I have one in my car, it breaks windows too) out of the truck and a separate air tank for the victim. Then I walk over to the edge and put on my flippers. I put my mask on, pick up my equipment, and head down. I see the car and swim towards it.*

'Jansen, I'm approaching the car now.'

' Ok don lets get close to the side, we can at least help the diver to pull the victim to the side here once he gets him close '

* I walk towards the edge and drop to a knee to wait. *

*I reach the car and peer into the window. The driver turns and looks at me. I give him a hang signal to move back and cover his face. He does and I break the window. Right as water rushes in, I pull him up. I put the regulator in his mouth. Since he can't swim, it make it much harder to pull him up. Slowly I swim to the surface.*

'Jansen, I got him. Bringing him up now.'

*I stand up behind Jamie.
'Yes Mamn.'
*I look over the edge and watch the diver surface and talk to Jansen. I then look down at Jamie and walk over beside her and crouch down.

*I reach the surface and swim to the shore.*

'Just lay on your back, ok? I'll pull you along.'

*I swim to shore. Then I help him over the side along with the medic crews.*

'He's all yours guys.'

*I climb out of the water and take out my regualtor and take off my fins and mask.*

"EMS, we've got a trauma team waiting at ERT General, advise of status"

* I grab the Victim with Don and pull him to shore. Davis goes off to rest while we start to work on him. *

' Don can u get a set of Vitals on him while I get the O2 ready pleas?. '

" COPA, Medic 2 we will advise on Status shortly, we are assessing the patient at this time. "

'Yes Mamn.'

*I open up my jump bag and grab my flashlight and check for pupil dilation. I find they are not dialating as they should. I then check the man's pulse which is much lower than it should be. I then get my BP cuff and place it around the man's arm and check his Blood Pressure, a little lower than it should be. ((Doing my best))

"Uh, Dialation not normal, along with a low BP and pulse." ((Guess thatsright, if im wrong tell me ill edit it ))

( Stop calling me Ma'am and your doing fine just go with it and ask lots of questions if you need to. )

* I cut the man's shirt off after Don has given me his Vitals, everything he has told me equals hypotension. I immediatly start an IV of Ringers TKO Don puts a C-Collar on him and we watch as he starts to come around. *

' Don can u take a second set of Vitals and we'll load him onto the Stretcher. '

" COPA, Medic 2 we had a male patient age 36 approx he has been trapped in a car underwater for several minutes now however apparently from what the Diver has told us he was in an air pocket. He is Hypotensive and cool to the touch, I will send a second set of Vitals as soon as they are given to me however we have started an IV of Ringers TKO and are preparing to transport him now. Please advise ETC on our status. "

(Can I call you ma'am?)
"They are awaiting your arrival M2 with open arms, and a big gurney. More emphasis on the gurney"

( Well yea since ur the boss haha )

" Medic 2 Copies we will be transporting shortly. "

' Alright Don lets get him on the stretcher. '

* We both lift him onto the stretcher and wheel him to the ambulance, As don loads him i walk back to Davis who is looking thouroughly exhausted sitting by his rig. *

' Hey diver are u ok. '

* I smile as he composes himself and looks up at me. *

'Great job Chuck, now let's get you out of the gear and get back to the station'
I say as I start packing the lines.

"Marine 1 to Medic 1, can you tell me later how the vic is doing? BREAK Marine 1 to COPA, We are packing up here, vic is out and being treated, over."

"Understood, wait for port atuhority to send someone over before leaving please"

"Copy on that, please notify CI"

"CI to docks, Port Authority is awaiting your clearance to remove the downed car"

I pack the last of the stuff in the truck and wait for Chuck
'Need some help Chuck?'

( Why I no call you ma'am!?! )
'Alrighty'
*I help Jamie load the man onto the stretcher, and wave to her as she goes to check on the diver. I look at the man and let out a slight smile and place my hand over his cold hand. 'You feel ok?'

* I give chuck a quick smile and then walk back to the Ambulance. I cimb into the back as Don steps out to drive. I look at the Man who is starting to get his color back. *

' U good buddy?. Just hang in there we'll be at the Hospital Shortly. '

* I Hook the man up to the leads os the Cardiac Monitor then turn it on as the Engine to the Ambulance starts up. *

' Don we can go no Code there is no need for lights and sirens here he is perfectly stable. '

* The ambulance starts to pull away and we head for the ETC. *

" COPA, Medic 2 is headin gto ETC Code 2 Returning to Central Freq. "

*I get into the ambulance, and take it out of high idle, and pull out of the dock, and turn the lighting system off and pull into traffic. I occasionally look back to check up on the man.

*I smile at Jamie before she leaves and start taking off my gear. I lay my wet suit and dry suit in the truck. Then I put away my air tanks. I open the passenger door and get my jacket out of the side. I put it on and sit facing outward with the door still open.*

'Hey Jansen, I'm all packed up. We just gotta wait for Port Authority.'

'Speaking 'bout the devil Chuck, here they are' I say as I see a port authorithy vehicle turn up
I walk towards the PPA Officer.

Me: 'Hey, I'm Lt Jansen from the ERT Marine Unit.'
PPA Officer:'Good to see you, I'm officer Smith from the PPA, what happend?'
Me: 'Well the car ran off the dock into the water, one person trapped, he's on his way to our hospital in a stable condition. Our CI is on the way for investigation, after that you can recover the car.'
PPA Officer: 'Okay, sounds clear. You guys have a safe shift.'
Me: 'Thanks, you to.'

I walk back to Chuck 'Looks like we can go back, we've gotta clean our gear, I'll drive you take a rest' I say with a grin on my face 'Good job btw'

I get in on the drivers side and pull the EAT to me.
