Basically the situation is screwed up, I'm like around a mile or so from the scene of some of the violence and from Social Networking, some people are very scared, and disorder is now in Birmingham and Liverpool, with a police station on fire in Birmingham (Unverified sources)

Violence in London for the Third Consecutive Day

There's been a third night of rioting in London, spreading all over the city after the shooting of a man, Mark Duggan, 29, after he was reported to have fired a handgun at a CO19 Officer, who returned fire. There was a peaceful demonstration on Saturday in Tottenham, which was hijacked, which resulted in up to £100 Million worth of damage, including 3 police vehicles, a double decker bus and multiple shops. They've got out of hand over the last few nights, with violence spreading as far south as Bromley.

No, because Cops can't use guns for this thing, shooting hundreds of rioters isn't too great an idea, as more people riot, and it was an Armed Cop who actually caused the first protests, which were hijacked, so yeah, guns idea, not that great.

See I think the best thing that could happen right now is one of two options
A, tear gas from helicopters, and arrest everyone involved, then say, further protests will result the same way. We'll work out your problems, but calm the f down, or we will continue gassing... Tear gas far out numbers the rioters.
B, figure out what the problem is, then fix it. Then proceed back in to end the riots, and arrest everyone involved.

Another example of some people looking for a reason to be destructive. You kill a guy, how do we get back at them? Let's destroy our neighborhood. Opportunistic criminals is what it is.

Exactly, someone looking for a reason to cause mayhem. Treat them as they are, criminals. Lock everyone of them up.
It's a shame to see what a few nutjobs can do.

Yeah, it's happening all over the world. Starting with Egypt, and it's just escalating from there. Granted they call it a "revolution" but it's just a riot more or less. And they might have a good cause, but you get these criminals that make it all violent etc.

It's just people looking for a reason to be criminals. Look at the Rodney king beating. Whether it was because of race or not. I don't care, but they used it as an excuse to riot.

I guess maybe it's just the town i work in, but instead of that, this was the longest conversation me and my partner had in the ambulance yesterday.
Partner: "I don't know if I could have steak for breakfast, like steak and eggs."
Me: "I love steak an eggs"
Partner: "Is it like a regular t-bone thing err...."
Me: "Umm....yeah, anything, sorta like a flank steak"
Then we got on scene.
lol but seriously, I agree that, they jsut need to drop something heavy on them (Like the gas like Burke said) and Hopefully it would calm them down and make them stop

Use the water cannon :S. They have those right so they can use it and I agree with tear gassing because the people themselves that have started doing this are morons. How can you riot because a cop was protecting himself? IDK but something has to be done and yes, i'm just hearing about this.

Actually, they're now debating whether the cop was ever shot at by the man, as the IPCC reported that initial ballistics reports say it was a POLICE-issue bullet in the man's radio. Met can't use Water Cannon or Teargas, they get slaughtered for kettling, we don't even have a Water Cannon in the Met.

If you want my opinion (I am the TAC OIC, after all ), the police are going to escalate their tactics in the next two days. This means more helicopters, plus the use of tear gas, water cannons and plastic bullets. They haven't used any of those tools yet, with the exception of the helicopters. If the riots aren't supressed within the next two days, or if they continue to spread to other cities in the UK, they may not have any other choice but to call in military support, like Los Angeles did in 1992 after the Rodney King beating.
I want to see how this unfolds.

They won't call in Military, definitely not, after the Troubles, I would hate to see Soldiers on the ground. Water Cannons have been ruled out by the Home Secretary, Plastic Bullets have been considered, Tear Gas is a maybe, but you have to remember there may be innocents stuck in the area, because of their homes being burnt/looted. Plus our helicopters, of which we have three, have no armour or anything, they're useless for anything more than observation, or carrying a few people into safe areas.

I'd be more inclined to agree with you if the riots were in, say, Belfast, where a military presence would be highly unsettling. I think many people in London want the police to be in control, and have criticized the police for not being aggressive enough or fast enough. There's little question that the police are going to use more of the tools they have available to them - last night was the first time that armored vehicles were used. The military's involvement, if any, will be directly related to the police's ability to maintain the situation on its own. Bear in mind that these riots are happening nationwide, and police from other areas might not be available. Helicopters will probably only be used to maintain a watch for outbreaks of violence and direct police to the areas in which they are needed.
A lot of my assessments are based on US policy, so I could quite easily be wrong in my predictions. To my knowledge, the UK doesn't have anything that resembles the National Guard in that there isn't a citizen's militia. In addition, the US hardly ever uses water cannons or police dogs in riot control because of memories of the Civil Rights Movement. Like I said, only time will tell what will happen in the UK.

Wow! You attack Fire crews. So... Let's just pull back and let their houses burn down. LOL, or the Fire crews cold just turn the hose on the attackers. I don't know which idea is better!!!
