    Prison Systems Empty Prison Systems

Post by DCBurke Thu Jul 28, 2011 9:04 pm

How are they where you are. What are your suggestions?

Here: They suck, you stay in WWII era buildings, or somewhat slightly newer buildings. Same old situation otherwise

What they would be if I had my say?
Well first off, here's what the lazy ass prisoners would get:
A metal/wood bunk, as you see in the movies, on the wall held up by chains, a toilet sink combo, and no privacy. That's it. And three meals a day, not nice, but food.
If you worked 15 hours a week (minimum)
Mattress, cell with a full toilet and a full sink and mirror.
If you worked 20 hours a week
Add in two snacks a day. Plus some nicer, comfier clothing, THAT FITS, you can wear on weekends.
If you worked 30 Hours a week
Add in a TV with 1 hour a day watch time, basic cable, and a semi private toilet, ie you aren't chillin in front of anyone, you get some privacy with a half wall covering your ass.
If you work a full forty hour work week,
You get to replace basic prison clothing with the comfier, fitted clothing. And you get access to one movie a week.

The jobs wouldn't be useless jobs, but instead useful production line jobs, that you learn something from, as well as monetize the prison system. There would be several different jobs you could work, as well, as if you had really good behaviour and showed initiative, you could work up to a prisoner supervisor, ie you'd get to help out in an office or whatever. Instead of manual labour. That way, you don't waste 5 years doing nothing with yuor life, instead you build work experience, and maybe can use it to get a real job once out.

And the plus side for the gov't is the prison system now makes money, as the prisoners are turning out enough goods to cover the costs of the system, and possibly even make money!

Flaws, ideas, comments? Share your system, and what you'd change

The U.S. system is broke thats for sure the rich go to nice luxury prisons and the poor go to prisons were they can't even better them selves so when they get out they have no choice but to go back to what they did before. I think they should have some sorta of job that makes them oney even if it's like half minimum wage but they have nothing to spend it on so when they get out they might be able to afford a couple months rent until they can find a real job instead of going back to selling drugs or robbing people

I dont agree with rich go to nice prisons. We had some ponsie scheme guy in our county jail, small cells, shitty, but modern cells.

I think we should throw them in a walled area, a pile of wood, black dirt, seeds, 1 month supply of food and say your on your own.

    OR

If you shoot someone you get shot, if you stab someone you get stabbed, etc, lol

So the justice system would just be a bunch of revenge, rather than having prisons?

I dunno, the real money works in theory, but I know a lotta guys would use that for illegal activities afterwords.

The first one I don't see working too well. Then you get people that were addicted to drugs getting murdered by crazy serial killers, only fuelling their addiction to killing, and the eye for an eye just leave the whole world blind

I agree. My prison theory is like yours boss but white walls instead of that crap concrete some places have in the US. It kinda hardens up a guy to see a concrete wall for however long he stays in that prison. I would also give the guy a bit more room in his cell with a door with one window in it. I mean I know you did something wrong but yes, I understand you deserve some sort of privacy right? I would make them work but I would like to make them work with police. Only the good (better acting) prisoners would be able to do this because in my opinion, I don't feel like seeing hate for cops grow in people that already have hate in their lives. If I don't make sense let me know haha.

Ya, my realsitc idea instead of my sarcastily isnane ideas would be similar to DC and Hannahan ideas, act good and work, you get better treatment, etc. But if your a jerk off, lazy ass you'll be treated like one.

As said before, better behavior=better treatment. It's kinda like that. I've seen prison shows where some inmates get this huge cell with a TV and even pets! I think it was because he was almost out or something. Another guy was allowed to live in this trailer home thing with his wife for a few days here and there on the prison yard.

The jobs they do are useless, and earn barely anything, I mean giving them something they can actually put on a resume, and get somewhere with. As for working with police, I dunno, that's more of a probation thing than a prison thing imo, just cause the jerk offs will kill you if you work with the police in the slammer

Make t-shirts, clothing, shoes, whatever is a popular non violent industry in the region. Or even a non popular industry, but with skills that could carry to a popular one

For minor crimes, specifically nonviolent, maybe use them like a temp service. We've got work release here, sure, but for the guys who are there for a while on Marijuana charges, home invasion, larceny...

We have factories. Specifically, we have a few that make candy bars. Put them to work there. 10 guys on a line, just give me a guard every other line. I'd run them. (I used to run the production lines at one of the factories)

You know prison life ain't so bad. Free medical care, a bed, three courses a day and even some yard time. Heck, they have better medical care than I have with the ambulance service.

Prisons are a good life. I know homeless guys who will commit non violent crimes and plead guilty every 6 months or so to get a small sentence. Aside from losing a few rights, you get everything else free and good. Bullshit imo. Prison should be harder than real life. Any medical care you need, well in canada it'd be free, but you should get the bill outta jail, or if you're in there for life, be made to work it off. Only give the bare neccessities to the ones who do jack shit

...I can trust you on that lol. I just always wanted prison to be more peaceful not like a hellhole that criminals can get hardened from. Oh yeah, and rape patrol cops would have to check all prison cells every ten minutes :S. No more "don't drop the soap" jokes haha.
