RPG Games1
What type of RPG games would you play? Police Like games, Military special forces or similar like games? Paramedic/FF typed games?

Re: RPG Games1
Maybe a little different. I wouldn't want the exact same thing. Maybe an MMORPG where people can walk around and drive vehicles and respond to calls. ETC.

Re: RPG Games1
Oh I thought you meant make a full out video game.... I was gonna say.
As for RPG games, making multiple ones of the same thing does nothing but kill the brand. As I've said before, this isn't a high demand game type, so what I encourage people to do, is not create a competition for this, or even another version of this, but instead to come up with ways to improve this and expand wider. The worst thing about MMOs is that the less players, the more boring it is, and when you have a small audience stretched between so much, it dies quickly (from personal experience I know this)

No lightforce....weird. We need at least two on the ladder or two extra people to be on the engine.

Re: RPG Games1
Personally, I don't think there is much point, as I have said before in recreating this kind of atmosphere in another game.
The market is small, I mean we've got maybe 50 members, and they make up a vast majority of those who would be interested in this kind of game. And these kinds of games need numbers. I think we could do better with efforts focused here than if we spent our individual efforts recruiting and creating a fire department focused game, and a police force focused game. Things start out in bursts then level off and die. We did the same once, but I got us back. I don't want to have everyone flood to a new world, and get into that game, then focus on recruiting for there, while here we're dying.
That's jsut my personal opinion. I think I can for sure say a few people here join me in that opinion, and I know it's exciting to make your own, but with all the work required, it's hard to do two, and it's even harder for two to survive, be it in competition, or working side by side.

Re: RPG Games1
For now, yes, but I promise you that over time, if yours takes off, one will require to be picked as a favourite. And like I said to you in my message, I know you mean no harm, but we are far from stable enough to run and have side branches form, and would really like that recruiting and overall effort to be put here. I understand you obviously want to do your thing as well, which I respect, but the market for this game isn't very large, and as you can see, especially in some units in particular, we are VERY hard up for members, see EMS or even ladder 1

Re: RPG Games1
Like Burke just said, there's not a lot of people that are looking for games like this. ICTU has only like 10-15 members I think...

Re: RPG Games1
I know you have 25 members, at any given time, we'll have around fifty here, but that fluctuates so we may be down to 40 or we may be up to 60. Still, that's not a lot of people, when you think that one station in a fire department has almost 20 members, and you still need EMS, police and a TAC team

Re: RPG Games1
I second Burke's argument. I have felt this way since you brought this topic up. I am sure that everyone here really enjoys stuff like this, but we are a small minority of the online world. Most people would prefer video games to text based game. :/

Re: RPG Games1
Exactly. I get around 20 signups every few days. Out of those, probably 15 are interested legit. Maybe 4 of those will actually reply to the application, but only maybe one actually joins, the other three back out because they don't wanna do a text roleplay. It's sad, but true, that's why you've gotta recruit, people won't come in on it's own merit, it needs advertising and welcoming. That's how I recruited who I did. I spoke highly and invited people in quickly!

Text roleplay is probably the best. You get to do exactly what you want and describe it in you OWN WORDS! Pretty cool if ya ask me.

Re: RPG Games1
Tis why I like it too, unfortunately the downside with this, is it's relatively easy to set up the structure, so many people who want higher up positions do it themselves, unfortunately, it's a full time job in and of itself so it's not something that many other groups have been able to continue with

Well I try to get on at least once a day, usually after school. But now that I'm on break, I might be more active unless I'm doing stuff with my friends.

would anyone be interested in a rpg about the federal government? Take the role of a senator, congressman, secretary of defense etc..?
