Safety : Your on scene awareness is everything. Going to the call, pulling up, on scene. Your concerns with safety go from dispatch to when you clear, so always double check with everyone to make sure what your doing is correct for the scenario. Lets say you enter a structure with an explosion. No cracks or damage noticeable on the outside. As you enter, you see small cracks on the walls that extend from the possible blast area. That would raise a flag, and you'd report that. Anything that isn't normal is something you should call in. Vehicle fires : not many people know this, but always approach a vehicle at a 45 degree angle. The bumpers on newer cars have a tendency to shoot off. Fire is something that no-one has been over in this game it seems like. In terms of attacks in structures, its not as easy as crawling in and putting it out. the room could be 1000+ F, could be fully involved, ceiling may be compromised, patients may be in that room. Many variables. This is 1 important thing. Use a TIC before entering a room. That will give you temperature, and allow you to see the room.
