ERT General Introduction Course - Room 101

*I get back in my car and drive to the complex. I hear the firefighters radio chatter as I drive and eventually pull up to the gate.*
'Hello sir, ID please?'
'Sure, right here.' *I show him my ID.*
'Ok, go ahead.'
'Thanks!' *I put away my ID and wave him goodbye as I drive towards the classroom. I park my car and walk in.*
'Woah, there's nobody here yet...well hey Burke!'

* i walk out of the station and into my pov and drive to the academy*
* I walk in through the front doors, show my badge, and walk into the room with davis*

* I come running into the classroom, sweat dripping from my face, i find my seat and sit down then catch my breath. *

' Sorry if im late u guys. Pumper had a call. '

*i drive up and park and head up to the class room i walk in and find my seat*

*I pull up in my POV, pinning the blue bars to my shoulder. I put on my aviator shades and walk in and up to the classroom. I take a seat in the back of the class.*

*I jump out of the truck as I get back in and punch out after taking off my gear, grab my blue bars and put my class A uniform on. I get in my car and high tail it to the Interpass, once on the Interpass, I go the speed limit and head to the class. I get to the academy and park my car. I turn it off and lock it and run in. I sign in when I get into the class and sit in my seat.*
'Whew, made it.'
*I smile and I look around seeing some people not here still.*

*I pull into the lot, parking my car at the end away from other cars, and walk inside. I check in, receiving my blue bars, then walk into the room. I sit down towards the middle/back of the room, and get out my phone reading messages and looking at pictures from my vacation until it starts.*

I get into my POV after looking over the RA. I start my car and head over to the training academy. I sign in flash my id and get the Blue Probie bars and put them on my shirt. I give the guard a look and head to room 101. I enter and find a seat.

"Hey guys!"

Today's class will be cancelled and postponeduntil tomorrow due to a request from PFD to be on standby for a possible structure fire

*I drive back to the academy from station 1 and after putting on my new badge as well as the blue cadet badges, I go into the room.*

*I sit in the seat in front of Burke and listen (read) to what he teaches.*

How we do what we do. Chain of command and operations has been combined into one to save time, Class will commence tomorrow (well in about 12ish hours from now)

'Woah, ok then. See you.'
*I jog out of the room and into my car taking my blue badge off. I then get to my car and jump in anticipating the drive to station 2. I turn on my car then drive out of the small complex.*

How we do what we do and Chain of command and operations

This will be a shorter class, however will run for the full of today.
How we do what we do.
We're a large agency, and we work second to other agencies, supplementing local emergency services, with better equipment and training when needed. The Phoxlind Area population has reached 1 million recently, and both the mayor of Phoxlind and Trulit have slated expansion plans for their communities. PFD works in North and South West trulit, as well as a industrial station, funded by the Heavy Industry Association of Phoxlind Area. ERT acts not only as a mutual aid company, but also primary response in some situations where PFD is unavailble, or would take longer to respond. Likewise with TVFD.
PPD and ERTPD work closely together, in a way they patrol almost together. PPD supplements patrols in areas where local LE agencies are unable to provide adequate patrol, as well as offers traffic control to the whole county area.
ERT EMS works with Phoxlind EMS, and the fire departments Ambulances, as well as one or two private providers in the area to provide EMS coverage to all people of the county. PEMS staffs 14 ambulances, with 10 on the roads at any given time, PFD has two, TVFD staffs one BLS ambulance, and the private providers make up a total of 7 ambulances responding to non emergency calls usually.

Command Chain
Every Division follows a similar command chain to this one.
General personnel
Specialist
Sgt level officers
Senior Officers
Truck officers
Supervisors/Task Force Officers
Special Commanders to Deputy Chief
Operations Chief
Top 6 command (General, Community chiefs, DC, and their deputies)

Each of these are also given differing Dress uniforms. Up to specialist, personnel will wear a navy uniform with a light blue shirt, and blue cap with black bib and cord
Then until Truck officer rank, personnel will start to wear a white shirt and a silver cap cord
Taskforce/Supervisors will wear a gold cap cord
Special Commanders up to Deputy Chiefs wear a black uniform with a white shirt, white cap, with a black bib and gold cord.
Operations Chiefs will wear an identical uniform, but with a laurel wreath on the bib.
Top 6 command would wear an identical uniform to the OC, but with a double laurel wreath and a grey shirt

'I have a question. With the expansion of the city, when is that scheduled to start? Also with ERTPD and PPD, does that mean PPD has their own traffic patrol and detective agency too?'

The New developments of West Phoxlind are underway, this will be layout out in a suburb area, with the ERT TA below it. There will be no emergency stations in that area.

PPD does not have a traffic division. We met in a county LE meeting, and ERT agreed to take on Traffic control for the entire county. PPD does have a small detective agency, but most of the detectives are retiring soon, and the remainders will be transferred to the ERT Agency once we complete renovations.

'Ok, I get it.'

'So Agency will start up againg after some time then.'

Yeah, though right now, we're looking to get personnel in the traffic and TAC as well as patrol departments

I write some stuff down in my book then close it. I look around to see if anyone else has any questions too.

I raise my hand after looking around the room.

"What is the general time for a rig to be inservice as a frontline rig before it is moved into the spare pool. Also, what happens if the rescue is involved in an incident, what would replace it because it is a brand-new rig?"

I look at DC waiting for a response.

'I thought it would be replaced with the old rescue we have..the one donated from washington..or is that the squad's reserve?'
*I look bewildered thinking about what Burke's answer will be. 'I thought, but, wait if,'. So many thoughts race through my head.*
'I don't know either heh.'

"Standard time is determined by runs and wear. Usually they go for 5-7 years, but have been known to run as long as 15, depending on their usage. If the Rescue goes out of service, they will use the squad's spare. If the squad goes out of service the same time as the rescue, the squad gets the pumper. If the pumper squad and Rescue go out of service, then the pumper crew will get a vacation, and I'll fire all our mechanics"

(hahahha I literally laughed out loud when I read and i'll fire all our mechanics)

I take note of what DC said and nod my head in acceptance.

'Ok, well this class has been such a huge measure of learning for me heh. So Burke, how many years ago did you join ERT?'

Many many, I've been here for 24 years, starting back when we were just a county auxiliary task force. I was one of the first paid police officers, transferring in from PPD to help with basically security, especially as we'd be getting visited by the president in the next couple months.

'Ooohh, ok. Just wonderin' hahahaha.'
*I laugh then close my book and sit back in my seat looking around at the room.*
'Anyone have any questions? Kinda quiet in here.'
*I look at my pager as it pages me and I get up and leave in a hurry.*
'Car accident, I'll be back aftere we're done.'
*I jump in my car and switch on my lights and start going.*
