Bomb in Mall

*I shut off the siren, and stop just before a parking lot entrance*

"RA-1 to COPA, we're standing by at the edge of the parking lot, you want us to go straight to the mall at this time or standby for TAC?"

*As I await a response, I put on my helmet, grab a portable, clip it a jacket pocket and clip the mic on a shoulder strap*

*After A little bit of driving gets within 2 minutes of the mall
*Flicks his siren off, and begins reducing his speed
*Looks over to see that RA-1 is already on scene
*Parks across the parking lot street
"BLS-1 On Scene, Standing by"
*Taps the steering wheel while waiting for orders.

"PC-8 to COPA show me arrived at the mall. there a few parking spots that would be good to set up a command post near the north parking lot entrance. Has mall security started evacuating the mall yet?"

I pushed the accelerator as far down as it could go, hammering it down the road approaching the scene, just ahead I could see RA-1, but the traffic was building, and pedestrians were running across the road to flee the scene. I slammed on the brakes and pressed down the bullhorn, clearing a small gap for me to drive through. I accelerated more, the siren on Priority and then stopped a block short of the mall, cutting across traffic and turning on the director bar.

"PC-2 is on scene." I said into the car's radio. Opening my door and cutting off the siren, then putting on runlock. I run to the trunk of my patrol car, pulling out the first aid kit, just in case there were any minor injuries I could tend to without wasting ALS or BLS resources. I slung it over my shoulder, slammed down the trunk and then remembered my shotgun, opened my passenger door and yanked it out of the rack. I started walking towards the mall entrance, looking for a senior officer from either PPD or FBI. "PC-8, can you get your patrol car to block off the other side of the road. We'll set up a Command Post when a Supervisor arrives."

* I pull up next to RA-1, shut down the siren and jump out.
'McGuire or Hutchison! I need a medic with me back to pick up the MCU!'

*blocks off the road with the car and gets crime scene tape and bull horn from the trunk*
*a large crowd is starting to form outside the entrance to the mall*
'Jackson we need to get these people back at least 1000 feet'
"PC-8 to COPA we need additional units here forthwith for crowd control and try to get in contact with the buildings engineer and head of security"

'Right, Supervisor's on scene shortly, until then, tell them to get back, force them back. Not sure being nice will help in this situation.' I reply to Zach. Spotting an FBI officer over by the doors in his body armour. I go over to see if he knows anything else. 'Hey, you from the FBI?' I ask
'Yeah. What's the problem?' He replied
'Got any other details other than the basics?' He shook his head in answer to my question
'Mall's being evacuated, but there's still a fair load stuck inside.' He shrugged and pointed inside, there were still a few in there.
'Alright, thanks.' I replied, heading back to Russo

*After a few minutes of hectic driving I arrive at the mall, and having monitored the radio head straight for PC-8 and PC-2 location. I slip in through the gap between the patrol cars, and park in the parking lot for the intended command post. I turn of my engine and get out of the car, locking the door behind me. I make sure I still have all my equipment, and hang the flashlight I brought with me from the car on the loop in my belt. I walk over to officer Jackson and talk to him:*

'Jackson, can you and Russo make sure the CP area is blocked of so that the crowd is out of the way when the FD arrives? I think we have OSC on his way, he should be here shortly.*

((NOTE: I can't find the mall on the map. Where is it located? Also, is it possible to have a sort of sketch/map of the mall area posted, so that coordination is a bit easier? I can't imagine this is a Quick-e-Mart style mall...))

**Pumper pulls up**

"P-11 on scene, staging for further assignment."

"Hey, guys, get all the equipment out onto a tarp so it's ready encase it escalates ."

"Drezelan, get the k12 out"
"Cressler, get me some attack line set up using runbacks."
"Galligano, get pike polls and rope."

'Alright sir, on it. FBI say there's still a few inside, so we may be in a worse situation if there is a bomb blast.' I nod to Halls and then head back to Russo. 'Hey Zach, get your scene tape and try and move the crowd over there back a few blocks, I'll get them this side, OK?' I told Zach the basic plan, and then prepared to try and move back the growing crowds a few hundred yards.

I arrive on scene and jump out of the officers seat and close the door before the truck stops moving. "Sorry we got held up in traffic." I say and pull 100 feet of hose and start to coil it. "Florian you're with me let's go in. Davis and Botfish start SAR. Make sure you follow COPA instructions to the letter, that goes for everyone" I say and step through the hose and put on SCBA.

P-11, I need you guys to hook up hose and get ready.

'Got it Lt.'
I put on my SCBA and get a set of irons out of the squad.

'Ready when you are!'

'Hey people, you're either gonna back up, or I'm gonna force you back. There's no time for any s***. Your lives are in danger, so get the hell back.' I shouted at the crowd of people, the anger in my voice, and the rude language was obviously understood to mean we're not playing, and the crowds began retreating quite quickly. As more emergency vehicles arrived I started to tell the last bits of traffic to go away, using whatever roads they could. With the crowds backed up, I dashed to my car and got out the traffic cones, ready to set them up to block the roads and areas that no traffic could enter.

"Pc-4 on scene waiting for orders"

((I'm off to bed, one of the medics can god mod us picking up the MCU.))

'Bruce hold on, don't get out just yet.'
*We pull up to Ewan as the Q is winding down and I roll down my window.*
'Where do you want us? At a seperate hydrant or hooked up with Pumper 11?'
*I try to let my voice be heard over the engine by speaking a bit loudly.*

*I listen to officer Jackson explaining what the FBI had told him, and thought for a moment. I'd better relay what's going on at the scene to COPA, until Libor get on scene. I unhook the radio extension mic from my shoulder flap, press down the transmit button and speak:*

"PC-7 to dispatch, I'm on scene now. The FBI is present and has informed that evacuation of the mall is underway. We have started setting up barricades and a CP location, the FD has just arrived and are preparing now, over."



((Going to bed, OSC will take over when he arrives I guess.))

*starts walking over to block off the CP area and notices the time*
"PC-8 to COPA URGENT: all units with preteen and teenage children school just got out please check in with your family to make sure none are at the mall"
*Picks up cellphone and calls my kids to account for them*
'James where are you?'
'im at my friends house'
'good stay there'
'why'
'just stay there'

*Dials Katherine*
'Where are you'
'The mall'
'where at the mall?'
'Hollister but everyone's leaving i think someone pulled a fire alarm'
'im out front meet me here NOW'
'NO im with my friends'
'tell them to come too'
'whats going on?'
'ill tell you in person. meet me in front of the mall. do you know what my car looks like?'
'No'
'its a white dodge charger police car now meet me here with your friends NOW'

Ladder one start venting and SAR."

**I have Galligano spot out a pump, then I pull a 4" supply to it**

"P-11's on a hydrant, over."

As I finish closing off the road in with the cones, and the last of the ERT Fire Apparatus arrives, I head back to the entrance to the mall. I realise as I return there that I've still got my first aid bag and my shotgun slung over opposite shoulders. "PC-2 has closed off the road, returning to squad car." I spoke over the radio, informing the CP that I was outside, waiting for orders. As I hear Russo transmit his message, I wonder if it's just luck that none of my close family are in Phoxlind tonight.

Florian and I go through the front window area ducking so we dont hit our heads. We open up on a path way of broken celing tiles and roofing.

*after waiting a few minutes i call my daughter back*
'where are you?'
'there are too many people and its taking forever'
'what are you wearing?'
'a blue hoody and khaki pants... why?'
'where are you now exactly?'
'the food court'
*hangs up*
"is there anyone near the food court?"

"PC-2 to PC-4, can you get your vehicle out front of the mall. Make sure you've got tactical gear, and if possible PPE." I spoke through the car's radio mic, standing with my arms resting on the open door, with the window rolled down. 'Russo, your kid in there?' I ask, figuring something like that must be up as he's transmitting a message about kids.

*grabs my scba and HRES gear and runs and catches up to lt raven. Looks around and just sees a complete uter disaster. People running all different directions, people hurt, holding themselves up and together.*

(The bomb went off?)
'Alright Raven Gotcha. Ok Bruce, lets park in the front of the mall here. I want you to get ready for SAR. You too Jess. You two are under McEvoy's control now. Everyone else, I'll get the stick up to the roof. Jack, you'll help me with the outriggers first and with checking stablilty of the roof. Grab a pike as soon as we're done with operating the ladder and check the roof. Tim, grab a k12 and start venting the roof as soon as we determine its stable enough. I'll be right behind you. Alright let's move.'
*As I get out, the SCBA clicks out of its holder on the seat and I take off my headset too.*
"Ladder 1 on scene. Starting venting efforts and SAR now."
*I then run to the pump panel where the two outrigger plates lay. I place them down and start putting the outriggers out. Soon, the outriggers are out and I go to the ladder. I start manuevering the stick up to the roof. I'm surprised since the stick is fully extended but stay on the task at hand. I get down from the steps and run over to Jack.
'Alright Jack, get up there and start checking.'
*I grab a k12 and wait for Jack to get up to the roof.*

"PC-4 To PC-2 10-4 moving to front of the mall" I get in my car and move to the front of the mall then i get out of my car and make sure i have all my gear and wait for more orders

'Charlie my daughters in there and shes trying to get out now but its packed so im trying to get her and her friends a police escort to the CP but im stuck here doing crowd control'

*I open the door, step out of the truck and get into Kaizer's truck.*

"McGuire to COPA and fireground, be advised I'm riding with Kaizer to pick up the MCU bus."

'Alright, Kaizer, you'll just drip me off there, I'll drive the bus and you drive your truck back?'

I dump my shotgun in the squad car and then close the door and start walking over to Brad. 'Alright, Brad, until Sergeant Libor gets on scene we're running the shop from here it seems.' I say. I lean by his patrol car. 'You got any PPE or stuff?' I ask, since it would help my plan to get the straggler's out. As I hear Zach's reply, I turn back to him. 'Russo, sorry, we can't spare units to get people out. But gimme a minute and I'll see something.' I reply, still working on my plan.

*Flips off his siren once he sees emergency lights
*Pulls in front of Russo's Car and parks
"PC-1 On Scene, awaiting orders."
*Quickly exits his vehicle, with just enough time to grab his jacket.

'I Trun to Jackson and tell him i have my PPE and i tell Jackson i think we should wait for fire to give us the all clear to go in'

((So I didn't go to bed after all ))
'Sounds good. Strictly don't need the EDRC there, but it doesn't hurt to have extra supplies, does it.'
* I drive back to the mall.
"EDRC to COPA, the MCU is on it's way. Will advice when we're set up and ready to receive patients."

'Not sure, we need to get everyone out before they can do their job safely,' I replied, thinking quickly about a new idea. 'Ok, Russo, Blanc grab your first-aid kits from your cars. Holmes, you and I will stay here, ready to help out. What we're gonna do is, you two,' I said gesturing at Russo and Blanc. 'Are gonna head in the entrance, and are gonna check that there's no-one in the nearest shops, if there's an injury, you try and treat as best you can, and get them out, Ok?' I ask them, they can always opt out if they wish.

"PC-2 here, two officers may be heading in to make sure we've evacuated all the nearby shops." I said into my radio, just to alert the FD in case.

'I tell Jackson ok' I get on my radio "PC-4 to Base What is the eta on TAC"

"10-4"
*Pops his trunk and grabs his first aid kit
*Leaving his trunk open begins jogging over towards the entrance to the mall.

*grabs raid jacket and first aid kit from trunk and i make my way into the mall while clearing people out of the way*
'Police make a path, Get the Hell out of my way, Make a path for emergency personnel'

'Guys, final piece of advice, keep together. If you lose sight, just radio, and remember to put your safety first, there's no point being the hero and treading on a wire and then requiring me and Holmes to drag your body to the ALS units.' I say, with a hint of a chuckle. I still had my first-aid bag on my shoulder and I was still alert to danger, there was still a lot that could go wrong.

(Godmod me if required, but that shouldn't be likely, until my return.)

McGuire and Kaizer - Received - I put that info into the COPA command system. It allows me to track where all units are and their status. Needed on a major call like this.

PC units on scene - Received - I type the PC unit on scene into the system aswell.

Ladder 1, Pumper 11 and Squad 1 - All received - I type that in aswell as the geographical location of the Units.

BLS 1 -Received - I type in that last information about ERT units on the scene into this command system.

**I sit back in my chair sip my Red Bull and get more anxious about my wife, who was supposedly in the mall shopping. I watch both my COPA screens.**

"COPA to all units - Keep updating me on positions of personnel, units and most of the crowds. COPA Out"

*I pull into the parking lot and stop near RA-1. I search for an idle button, then press it. I turn on interior lights and scene lights, shut off emergency lights, and step out.*

"McGuire to COPA, MCU is now on scene, I'll be returning to RA-1."

* I hop out of the EDRC, and enter the MCU.

'Thanks Doug. Stay safe out there.'

* Inside I start preparing for patients, unstrapping and switching on equipment. I hang up the jacket, and take a last look over to see that everything is ready. Then I go to the command station in front, and pick up the radio.

"MCU to COPA, we're open for business. BREAK. MCU to all units, stay safe."

Rodger that RA-1 - I input that info into the COPA command system.

I continue to think about my wife....

"10-4 MCU. Thanks."
*I look up at Jack seeing if he's done with the pike or not but still seeing he's poking at the roof.*
'That's a good kid..'
*I start making sure my k12 is ready by whirring it up every now and then.*
