Alerts for Units Empty Alerts for Units

Post by DCBurke Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:28 pm

This was suggested to me, that I create a topic for each unit in the fire department, close it so only I may post there, and have you subscribe so each time I post a call, it'll email you and let you know. You would have to change your email to oyur phone's email if youwished to be able to received text alerts. Opinions? Suggestions?

    This is OOC

We had the old system of I email out to everyone involved in a call, but it's getting a bit crazy now, with sometimes over 15 people on a call that need to be alerted, so I think we need another option.. This was one presented, if you have more, please share

Well, I personally hate Twitter, but maybe could send alarms out over that. For those of us with smartphones, we can download a twitter app, and set it it to ring or vibrate when "ertrpg' send 'tweets'.

I'll add the twitter idea as well, and you may cancel your vote to change it to that if you want

What if we did both, the first for those who do not have, nor do they want to get a twitter account. And then for those who want a twitter dispatch, they can have it.

I thinks it's a good ideal but the one thing that might suck about it is people might only start logging on to run calls which takes some of the fun out of sation life and the city life and the other parts of the forum

I know what oyu're saying but the second side is that people someitmes miss whenc alls come in (ie some firefighters may be out when a call comes in) and this alert system could let them know, so if they can check when they're out that'd help.

I would be up for twitter, Its not that bad. It isn't like you have to live by it, just follow like ERT RPG set it up so it goes to your phone then never do anything with it again, thats what I did with my school one Smile

I just remembered you can choose to watch a whole thing like you can subscribe to the EAT so whenever you post anything in there you get an email then you can log on and check it out.
