IRC channel

The topic says it all. Would an IRC channel be something people here would use? I think we could make one on the server emergency planet uses, or some other available serve. Just throwing it out there.

What's an IRC channel? Like Teamspeak? That won't really work well because everyone has different time zones and DCBurke said he tried before but it was a failure.

You don't know what IRC is? Damn, I feel old It's an IM basicly, like the text side of Teamspeak.

Like the chat box on gmail?

No, not quite I think. You have different servers. On those servers you have channels, in which are several users. You can be in as many channels you like at any given time. You can also speak with users privately.

EMP has tried IRC channels before and we've shut them down there, mainly for the reason of the lack of usage.

We don't have a big enough COMMUNITY here yet to include an IRC. I'm wokring on adding the status updates spot, sorta like an ERT Twitter or the EMP status box

I'd be in for an ERT IRC channel. I use IRC regularly for other games, so sure.

I think I will incorporate a kinda shoutbox on the homepage where you can get in touch with other members, such as featured on the site, http://forum.emergency-planet.com
